Guest Reviews
- Tour32558704442 (10/5): Absolutely lovely hotel, once you get past the tatty exterior. - Despite looking a bit tatty from the outside this hotel was absolutely lovely. Parking was £3 a night, but I thought that was perfectly reasonable.
Amazingly the bed was lovely and soft. I think the first one I've ever come across in a hotel chain. It was such a change not to wake up with a sore back.
The bathroom had I nice big shower cubicle which was also a very pleasant change. Whoever has a bath in a hotel anyway??
The room was nice and clean everything was in good order.
While we didn't use the pub/restaurant it looked very nice as we walked past.
Check-in was nice and easy and all the staff we saw were helpful, polite and most importantly looked happy. It's amazing how much difference a smile makes.
We will definately be coming back here.
- WillC1926 (4/5): unclean room and uncomfortable bed - When we arrived at near 8pm we were told that we would be in room 8 which was down stairs ,on entering our room we found the window had been left open and the room was really cold .The room was really in poor state with paint flaking of the walls ,scratches to the walls ,some of the lights did not have bulbs in them (at bed side ) the carpets were really dirty and the bathroom like the bedroom had paint flaking of the walls and generally needed cleaned .
I have stayed here a few times before in different rooms and really had no issues ,it was as if these rooms had been forgotten .The bed and pillows were really hard making sure you had a really bad nights sleep .
- madalinam494 (10/5): Good stay! - I had a very good stay at Premier Inn Dartford. The room was clean, comfortable, and quiet, and the staff were friendly and helpful from start to finish. Great value for money and a convenient location. I would happily stay again!
- kenighal (10/5): Good experience - It was our second time. We love the location, you can easily gain access to major retailers and fast food restaurants if you so which. Rooms are quite affordable.
- colinhO5246PE (10/5): Delivering way about expectations for its cost - For a Premier in level hotel, this is the best we have stayed in. Staff are brilliant and really care about your satisfaction and have a true passion about their hotel.
Its been recently refurbished with the dining area, friendly, comfortable. Very welcoming. Good slelection of nice food for a value evening meal and a great all you can eat breakfast.
Some rooms have been refurbishes, more being done. Those that have, the one wee had, are clean, and comfortable for sleeping.
The best premier inn we have stayed in and beats meany higher star hotels on quality and service we have stayed at.
Will be booking again when in the area for short over night stays
- IanPLancashire (8/5): Decent After A Bad Start - This was my first stay at this Premier Inn for many years.
First impressions were not great as after parking my vehicle I was approached by a man claiming to be homeless begging for money.
Check in was delayed as only one lady on reception with a queue of maybe half a dozen people.
My room was clean and comfortable and I must admit I had a good nights sleep.
Restaurant next door was decent for the evening meal.
- danhX7245VI (10/5): They went the extra mile, at 3am - Having had a nightmare not being able to get in to the airbnb I'd booked down the road I arrived at Premier very tired (it was 1.30am old time, but the clocks had gone back an hour) very cold, and very frustrated that I'd been let down.
The two chaps on the desk were utterly amazing, particularly with their manner... they not only dealt with the ridiculous situation of talking to the airbnb owner on the phone, who proceeded to haggle for the last room in the building in the early hours of Saturday night/Sunday morning, but they calmed me down, they solved problems without adding to mine... one even came up with me to my room, making sure I found it and to double check it was all ready to go. I was incredibly grateful. Next time, I'll book here in the first place.
- Adventure24249464711 (10/5): Business stay - Love staying at this hotel the staff are amazing and the rooms are always very clean , I highly recommend staying at this hotel
- leedB1133KW (6/5): Short sleep due to Noise - Noise from loads of teenagers messing about until gone 11pm,then woke up by builders unloading lorries and banging around.
- robinb851 (4/5): Dirty room, under-staffed slow restaurant service - Plenty of space in the car park, although narrow bays. The ladies on reception were lovely - friendly, professional, welcoming.
When opening the room door, the slot for the keycard was hanging off the wall but it pushed back into place and then worked. There were several suspect brown carpet stains outside the bathroom door and nasty-looking white stains on the middle front of the armchair seat - yuk. The furniture had seen better days as was peeling its outer layers. The mattress and pillows were fine and the bathroom sufficient. All the lights worked and the TV too.
The restaurant attached to the hotel was horrendously under-resourced. There was quite a queue at the 'wait here to be seated' sign, and it did not move quickly. I really felt for the staff as there were just not enough of them, The chap behind the bar kept coming over and seating people, but was also running the bar so was torn between the two. There was a harassed waitress who was lovely, and kept apologising to people for the delays. She was clearly trying hard but lacked backup. The food took ages to arrive, so did the drinks but this was not the fault of the nice waitress - she was over-run.
A decent night's sleep, and breakfast was good although th eggs had run out.
All in all - the hotel was tired and desperately in need of a refresh and a thorough deep clean. The restaurant staff lovely but too few of them.
- JoPearcey (2/5): Waste of money - Had a premier plus room but it was an Awful night sleep, every time you moved the bed made really loud awful noises room is tatty not worth the money we paid. So leaving a night early and finding a different hotel
- markcO5365IS (10/5): Great Hotel - Great hotel, staff always helpful, stayed quite a few times, comfortable clean rooms.
The attached restaurant however seems to have gotten poorer over the last few months, very slow service from ordering food to arrival......
- nightstalker1966 (6/5): Not a peaceful stay this time. - Comfy bed ,but couldn't get to sleep until after 11pm due to a coach load of teenagers messing about and banging around, with only a small handful of adults that obviously had no control. Even though there should be a adult with teenagers under 18. Most were allowed with ONLY teenagers in a room alone.should of been turned away, due to the so called rules of premier inn??then workmen unloading and reverse bleepers going off just after 7am next to ground floor room 20 ,setting up for the day.
- dalglish07 (8/5): Did the job - We booked as a one night half way stay , whilst travelling to north Aberdeenshire.
The journey should have taken 3.5 hours from Manchester but ended up taking 9.5 hours due to the M6 being fully closed after an accident.
We were glad to eventually reach the hotel and were greeted by friendly and accommodating staff.
The room was up to the usual premier inn standards , the bed was super comfy and after a beer I slept like a log.
The WIFI was flaky, but after our journey I wasn’t too bothered.
The adjoining pub/restaurant was closed for refurbishment and,in the morning ,we were provided with complementary fruit, pastries and coffee for breakfast, which was a nice touch.
The hotel did its job ,for us ,and I would happily use again.
- trudyd884 (10/5): Well done! - Stayed last night. Staff were amazing and the food was delicious. Room was spotlessly clean. Well done everyone. 10/10 to you all
- theresafT4006FL (10/5): Would come back - Room was lovely but staff are amazing kathrine the manager sean staff member lyn staff member didn't get more names but I cannot fault them caring understanding and very very helpful 😀
- Odyssey07982467874 (2/5): Awful nights sleep - Room 120 family room. Awful as never slept. Room above floor boards creeked all night. Guest services were a waste of time
- 709mateuszg (10/5): Comfortable stay. - I had a wonderful stay at this hotel! The staff were incredibly friendly and always ready to help, which made me feel very welcome. The room was clean, spacious, and comfortable, with all the amenities I needed. I especially loved the breakfast – it was fresh, delicious, and offered plenty of variety. The location was perfect, close to the main attractions but still quiet and peaceful. Overall, it was an excellent experience, and I would definitely come back and recommend this hotel to others.
- imogenh2013 (6/5): Adequate rather than great. - Pros: The hotel was a decent standard: overall clean and with comfortable beds. The staff were friendly and fairly helpful. Booking in was easy, and the breakfast buffet was good.
When my son slipped and bruised himself in the shower, one staff member was very concerned and responsive. She got me some ice for him as soon as I asked, and was very kind, asking if he needed her to call an ambulance (he didn't).
Cons: The hotel in general was adequate rather than great. I've stayed in Premier Inns many times and have always found the standard higher than at this one. The tea and coffee supplies in the room were meagre and there were no drinking glasses (although these things could be obtained from reception). The punnets of long-life milk tasted particularly unpleasant (much worse than long-life milk generally does, in my experience).
The buffet, although what it provided was all good, didn't have much variety in terms of, for instance, types of milk and cereals. One toaster was broken throughout our stay, and there were several staff members who were standing around chatting (on a couple of occasions ending up in the way of customers who wanted to get to the breakfast buffet).
I paid for ultimate wi-fi, but there was some sort of glitch that meant it only worked on two of my three devices, despite me following exactly the same instructions with all of them.
There was no bath mat provided, which led to, despite the "non slip" surface in the bath, my son slipping and falling, hitting the bath handle with his hip. The bath handle broke. Fortunately his hip didn't, but he ended up with awful-looking bruising and was stiff and sore for some days following. We were able to get a bath mat from reception after this incident, but if one had been provided he wouldn't have slipped in the first place.
Overall, although this hotel was mostly adequate for our needs, I found it lacking in the quality I've come to expect from Premier Inn, and I won't be staying at this particular hotel again.
- hugovictoroscar (10/5): Comfortable Rooms and Great Service - My experience was excellent stay was comfortable with friendly staff, clean rooms, and delicious food — highly recommend!
- neilbO9295ER (10/5): Comfy stay at premier Inn Dartford - Stayed at the premier Inn Dartford for two nights, lovely/professional reception ladies, clean room and excellent stay
- shrutisD5301AL (4/5): Disappointing experience - I was really disappointed with my recent stay at Premier Inn. The air conditioning/heating system in our room was not functioning properly and kept turning on and off, which meant the room never stayed at a comfortable temperature. It got far too hot at times, and sleeping was almost impossible.
We raised this issue with the receptionist and while they did offer to provide fans or move us to another room, it really wasn't practical to repack everything and move with children and all our luggage already unpacked.
- E4397QZbrettw (4/5): Charging £6 for parking.. ridiculous! - Wasnt a bad experience clean room fairly friendly staff.. but having to pay £6 for parking is ridiculous, already paying enough for the damn room. Probably won't come back due to that fact alone.
- H3861TKandrewc (4/5): Very disappointed - not the usual experience. - Wi-fi non existent, not good when you advertise as a budget business hotel. The key card insert by the door was faulty causing the lights and power to go out. Also they now charge on top of the stay for Parking.
- josephoL6916LU (10/5): Ten out of ten for the service we got - We arrived at the premiere in on Saturday night and Andy was on reception and he helped us in every way he could ten out of ten great service
- I871DMmarias (10/5): Wonderful stay. - Lovely hotel, clean, modern rooms and really comfortable bed. Great restaurant, the breakfast is delicious. Helpful, cheerful staff . Easy parking. Did not hear the M25 despite being so close to it.
- Stay02693111800 (10/5): Booked at the premier inn last minute. Com as a colleague had an appointment and couldn't drive - The food was cooked exemplary. Thank you tina . All the staff were friendly and helpful. Will be coming back . Booking out at 12 a bonus
- Nonnie2807 (4/5): Awful place - Stayed for one night on business and although I knew the hotel had no air conditioning prior to arrival, I wasn’t prepared for the heat that met me when I walked into room 201.
It was a lovely 26c and increased during my stay to a tropical 28c with the small fan circulating hot air nicely.
The window would only open around 2 inches and the view of the pub opposite was something to behold. Broken fences and empty canisters made it look derelict
The room was next to a door that was constantly being opened and closed throughout my stay and the carpets in the hallways wouldn’t mind a vacuum !
Typical of all Premier Inns at the moment, the WiFi was woeful.
Wouldn’t stay here again as the only positive feature was the EV charging point
Avoid
The bathroom was compact and
- rebeccagG3974DY (2/5): Worst night sleep ever! - There is no air conditioning and it was 28 degrees in the room overnight. The tiny window that opened overlooked a dual carriageway and it was very noisy. The pub to have breakfast smelt musty. Don’t go here - there are other hotels in Glasgow with air conditioning - go there!
- Airlineconsultant (8/5): Restaurant now moved in house; impressive front desk team - PI Derby West for me punched above its weight compared to other reviews. On arriving, the receptionist and duty manager were having a fag and gossip in the entry area – not a good look. But they were both helpful and friendly. My room was on the ground floor near the entrance and it was modern and to the usual Premier Inn high standard. The wash hand basin didn’t drain away – from the flowback, I guess a previous occupant had used it to wash their hair. I mentioned this to the front desk, who got it moving for one use until it blocked again. Otherwise, the room was very nice and quiet. The free wifi is perhaps a little slower than other PIs.
The old hulking Beefeater next door is closed and being earmarked for repurposing as a McDonalds by December; instead 6 rooms have been converted in a “Social” restaurant, which is modern, bright, tastefully furnished (eg smart patterned bowls rather than the usual plain white ones), if a little cramped and less chilled than the Beefeater breakfast areas. Breakfast was excellent as always, albeit they had unfortunately run out of bananas and the eggs were very undercooked on the first attempt; there was a permanent queue for the one small underpowered coffee machine.
As for the PI reception team, at various times I saw them cooking breakfasts, hosting in the Social, doing room maintenance and cleaning/checking rooms. Whether this was multi-tasking, or amazing teamwork, there is no doubt that these committed individuals are going well beyond the job description to keep the PI Derby West show on the road.
- EmilyHendry92 (10/5): Little stopover on way home from doing the NC500 - Fabulous little hotel, love a premier inn and will definately be staying here again in future! Friendly staff, great rooms, great food!
- 763daniellas (10/5): Family stay for theme park visits - Staffed were available when needed and helpful, also friendly. The hotel was clean and tidy, comfortable beds. We couldn't of asked for anything more from this experience, made our stay relaxing which we wanted.
- mueeza2025 (10/5): Great hotel and staff. - Darci helped me with everything I needed and was amazing to chat to. Very friendly staff and she made sure my room was spotless.
- CatherineSAdventures (4/5): Worst Premier Inn Experience For Us - Disappointed by this Premier Inn. Nothing like the previous ones we’ve visited. Staff were fine but the facility needs a lot of TLC. Parking was limited but we did find a space (the last available one). Room 119 was sooo hot it was uncomfortable to sleep in and a concern for our 18month old. The window was open on arrival and there was a desk fan that had been left on in the room but this did nothing. Toilet seat had a urine stain at the front where cleaning hadn’t been carried out thoroughly and the dust on the fire extinguisher in the main corridor was that thick our toddler left a handprint In it when he grabbed it whilst walking past. We only had 1 thin pillow each so we ended up folding them over in half as we normally have 2 each. But the bedding was otherwise comfortable and clean. There was a crack in the ceiling above the shower and the ceiling plaster was becoming damp. At check-in the staff member said the computer was going that slow he was having to do it all on his phone (personal or work phone we don’t know!).
- Wanderer64811135877 (2/5): Worst premier inn ever ever - The room was very outdated and rusty. Noise was constant—I barely slept over three nights. I strongly advise finding another hotel. This is by far the worst Premier Inn I’ve ever stayed in
- wadger1 (10/5): Amazing service - Stayed at this premier inn for the last few months. The staff have been excellent with any requests regarding food or room allocation.. In between this time I was sent to Stepps but as they were not serving food Darci who works at Cumbernauld came to stepps and found me the nearest Premier Inn who was offering food, she also phoned ahead and placed my food order which was above and beyond. I also have to especially mention Karen who has always made sure my table reservations are always made and room allocated to preferred room.
- I4532HMcolinm (10/5): Great service - Excellent service and great staff . Easy to speak to and very friendly . Would recommend anyone to come here for a visit. Also Kate was especially helpful with my enquiry
- K8473RIclaireg (10/5): Family stopover - Stopped over on our way back from holiday. Staff were very friendly and helpful. Kids loved the restaurant and we all had a great night's sleep.
- H8769PIjamesm (8/5): Dependable premier inn. The kids love it 😍 - Rooms and hotel good as ever. Beefeater restaurant was nice. Exterior of building car park etc a bit ropey but hey ho. Overall good 👍
- wendysD2532JQ (8/5): Good experience - Great hotel room was clean and spacious
Good was great
Staff were friendly and helpful
Needs more disabled wet rooms and blue badge spaces
- villarospo (10/5): Handy for the hospital - Super handy for the hospital with good parking. The bed was really comfortable and the breakfast was decent. Outstanding staff which is pleasant surprise.
- rolly1111 (10/5): Brilliant team, brilliant food, Excellent staff. - Myself and family were looked after by Catherine, Sean, Stu, Hannah and Becca, who went above and beyond to make our trip special. Catherine and Sean treated our boy as a V.I.P and thank you again for your kind Gifts. We will definitely be back - food was great, stay was great and staff were great!!
- jamiehP9006GS (10/5): As you would expect from premiers - Excellent stay after what was a really busy weekend. Checked in promptly by a very competent receptionist and ensured we had the whole spiel. There’s never enough hand towels or tea bag’s at premiers either but couldn’t fault staff
- clairebV5504QD (6/5): Not the best premier inn - Staff rushed off their feet, bedroom has dents in walls. The shower was going hot and cold. It’s the only premier Inn that I felt the level of cleanliness was lacking.
- Carlyn2849 (10/5): Reliability as standard. - As always can be relied on to be clean and tidy and rooms to be of same standard, when going to a place unknown, it’s not a bad thing. Loads around to eat or shops if needed.
- LesK195 (4/5): Steer clear of this hotel - Booked a one night stay visiting family in derby , always stayed here before and always had good room with value for money, not this time , we booked a room not realising they now have two levels a standard room and a king size room , we had the standard room thinking this was the only type of room on offer.
It was really poor, small, standard bed not even King size , pillows like rocks , TV so small be more suited to a caravan than a hotel room, barely enough space to move, a terrible experience .
Funny thing is had we known about two tiers of room we would have gone for the better room .
A dreadful experience and as regular travellers to see my family in Derby I will not be going back there again, for £127 per night I expect more, a lot more !
Be warned as they don’t make it clear when you’re booking they’ll put you in whatever rooms they have free

- pamh763 (8/5): A nice place to lay your head - The Premier Inn is a great value for your money. It is a no frills hotel that is centrally located between Glasgow and Edinburgh. The staff are very friendly and the accommodations are fine. It is near some eating places, a grocery store and about a 25 minute walk to the nearest train station.
- joanneaI8329ZJ (10/5): Lovely clean hotel very friendly staff good location for all your needs would stay again reasonable priced and great xxx - Stayed for 1 night with family for the 2 rangers game ideal location everything handy on Saturday 26th July lovely hotel Karen on reception was very nice helpful and chatty would stay again xx
- Maps66544354900 (10/5): Great stay!! - Really enjoyable staff at the Premier Inn Cumbernauld. Rooms although but dated are comfortable enough. Staff very friendly and the restaurant serves a great breakfast. Definitely worth a visit
- Alissa (10/5): - This was a quiet clean place to stay. Would stay again.
- grahambI9662MV (10/5): Friends from the start - Incredible stay and wanted to thank in particular your front reception staff as they were all excellent. From the moment we checked in we were well looked after and made to feel safe. Something that is rare to find in this day and age. Bar was nice for a beer too.
- N4462FMellenc (4/5): Below average - This is a below average premier inn. To be fair it was the hottest day of the year and they didn’t have air con, so the rooms were boiling hot. We did have fans but it’s just pushed hot air round,
The quality of the rooms are below average - hole in the bathroom wall, curtain falling off its rail. The smoking area is the first thing to great you, at the bottom of the ramp for the entrance so it stinks as you go in.
The evening staff member was lovely but the one as we left in the morning hardly acknowledged us.
I wouldn’t go again.
- ryanoD5050IT (8/5): Local amenities and friendly staff - A great location with plenty of food spots and amenities close by for you to either Travel into Glasgow or simply stay for a stop gap on a long drive, friendly staff and clean rooms are the main points of interest with the staff members giving not only local food recommendations but advising me and my colleague on local events and things to visit whilst in the local area was a real touch of class. Relatively modern interior decor to the rooms makes you stay nice and comfortable with large and comfortable beds in each and every room. The adjoining breakfast is a great selection with fast and friendly service provided throughout our entire one week stay.
Ample parking, which is free of charge for hotel guests is available
If I am ever in the area again for Work or pleasure, I will be definitely staying here as it’s not only live up to expectations but surpass them
- Chrisyclifton75 (10/5): Perfect stay as always - Always a comfortable sleep at the hotel sheets are very nice pillows are very comfortable staff are always welcoming and friendly helpful x
- Danoak33 (4/5): Unique.... - Try and avoid get getting room 102 the windows are in the roof you have no view and your options at night are to hear the wind through the window or the window rattling which is why i left a day early
- S5529QHlucyf (10/5): Excellent stay with a personal touch - The breakfast was the best I’ve had at a Premier Inn in a long time! The staff went above and beyond, it was such a thoughtful gesture to leave us all little keyrings with the message “When your legs get tired, run with your heart” to inspire us for our athletics competition. It really made the morning feel special and set a positive tone for the day. Thank you!
- N412AVangelah (6/5): Recent stay - Comfortable bed, staff friendly but evening food poor and over priced. Breakfast better. TV old and not working, did report it .
Construction work outside makes entrance not appealing
No room air conditioning which on a hot day not good , just have a free standing fan, which blow hot air around room .
- F3034TFdonnam (10/5): Perfect location - Great hotel and friendly staff. Restaurant does the best breakfast with an all you can eat option. The manager Iain is happy to help with any issues and makes you feel welcome. I would recommend staying here to anyone travelling to Glasgow or Edinburgh.
- staceyhL6635QT (2/5): Never again! - I have never stayed in a Premier Inn before, but after seeing the adverts I thought I would break up my journey with a stay. Check in was fine, but when getting ready for bed, untucking the quilt the duvet was visible and was disgusting. It looked to be stained with faeces. I went to reception and the lady apologised and went to the room and said she would change the duvet. She did change the sheets but the duvet was replaced with an equally stained one. So it was not a restful night sleep as at this point it was so late I had to sleep without the duvet. I was due to stay there on the way back to break up my journey again, I had paid a non refundable rate, but decided to drive straight home. I couldn't face the thought of staying at this Premier Inn again.
- Dandy70 (10/5): Wonderful stay - Room was perfect. spotlessly clean and comfortable. Breakfast was freshly cooked to order and tssty, but for us it was the Staff that made our stay perfect. Reception, housekeeping and Restaurant, every person was super friendly and helpful.
- dav9876 (4/5): Poor - This was stop 1 of 2 on our way from North Wales to Fort William, arriving at around 5pm. You know something is wrong when someone who had just arrived was checking out and receiving a refund, but that may have been another issue.
On entering our family room there was a smell of damp, really unpleasant and the room was very hot, bearing in mind it wasn’t that warm outside.
We had a chat with reception who kindly gave us a fan and fre-breezed the bedroom, it make make it somewhat better but not great and it was too late for us to cancel and find somewhere else to go.
The restaurant that is attached. If you have a child you have to leave by 9:15pm Scottish law which needs communicating somewhere on the web site.
Breakfast you know what you get with a PI.
But again it was chaos, not the fault of the staff at all but only 2 people servicing the whole restaurant, not good enough, Whitbread make more than enough to employ sufficient staff.
Not what I expected from a PI and we’ve stayed in a shed load as a single, couple and family.
Disappointed - but not the fault of the staff they’re just making the best of a poor situation
