Guest Reviews
- Sharon (10/5): - Excellent budget rooms in a convenient location to shopping and siteseeing. The room and hotel itself were very clean. The staff were friendly and helpful.
- steven (8/5): - Decent location for pubs etc
- Kevin C (6/5): - Good location. Unfortunately the lift wasn't working so had to walk up 6 floors.
- Andrew (2/5): - Absolutely shocking hotel rude staff and full of junkys
- Margaret (2/5): Not for us! - Staff helpful.
Room was very small, very basic, bed was tiny. No view. Stairway was grubby and intimidating, was worried about fire risk too. even though we had already paid, we didn’t stay. Location was good but the price did not match the room or hotel standards.
- Tommy (10/5): - Got this as let down from another accommodation lift wasn’t working but wasn’t to fussed as the room I got for the reduced priced was excellent
- Terry (2/5): - Nothing to like about this property . We were.5 floors up with no lift no email to let me know .it was broken I would have cancelled. If informed. Rooms tiny smelly stuck of weed..got moved to lower floor but that room was worse . The place is a wreck look elsewhere
- robert (10/5): - Lifts not working and stairs a bit taxing.
- Emma (8/5): - The hotel was very central was clean on arrival unfortunately the lift was broken but would stay again.
- Gunther (2/5): - The lift has not been working for over 6 months, no attempt to repair. Accommodation was no the 5th floor. Reception on lower ground floor. Despite being informed after my booking I had no reply to state which floor my accommodation would be. Impossible scenario at check in.
- Lin (4/5): Very basic but serviceable. Good location. - Unfortunately, the lift was not working whuch meant a rather gruelling climb up uneven and narrow steps to the 6th floor. 8 floors in total as reception is UG. Not brilliant. The bedroom was fine, but the mattress almost flat with overuse. No springs left. The en suite very shabby with the basin hanging at an angle. On the positive the wayer was hot. Nice touch with a clean kettle and hot drinks in the room.
- Kathryn (2/5): - Room was advertised as delux… far from. Room advertised as having a city view… one small window almost too high up to see out of and limited view. Room on top floor and lift out of action. Only told on arrival. Not a great experience.
- Geronimo (8/5): Todo ok - Todo perfecto, la habitación pequeña pero comoda, lo unico no anduvo el ascensor mientras duró nuestra estadía y subir 5 pisos por escalera despues de estar caminando todo el dia se complicaba
- Natika (2/5): - The hallway upon entrance stunk absolutely smelt of sweaty feeeeet!!
The where holes in the walls right around the stairs going up to floor 6.
The lift was out of order.
We asked for a plate for our room as most hotels have this however the way we was spoken too was disgraceful.
The bedding and shower area was filthy.
The shower wouldn’t drain properly when I decided to clean the shower and get one.
Overall experience.
Would not come here again and would not refer to a friend however it is more acceptable than if you was to get a hostel or motel abroad.
- PING YAU (8/5): - Overall for a backpacker is a good short stay hotel !
- Jimmy (8/5): - Could do with a lick of paint but very clean room and bathroom, comfy bed, good location. Overall great value for money
- Geoffrey (4/5): - My original room was on the 5th floor and I was notmtold that the lift had been out of order for 6 moths! Had I known I wouldn't have booked the room. I was moved to a 2nd hotel No 105 about 5 mins walk away. The room was on the first floor. Fine. From about 18:00 to 02:00 I was subjected to the beat of a heavy base guiter and drums. They reverberated throuth the walls and floor and the bed frame making it impossible to sleep. The kettle had to be changed and the remote for the tv only had one battery in it. These things shoulld have been rectified before I checked in. Also the breakfast that was promised on the web site was not available.
- Mark (2/5): Hillcrest Liverpool Central a disappointment - Arrived and had to navigate steps down to reception. Then got told lift not working.
Our bonus was they'd moved us to the third floor from the sixth.
Managed to find out room which was very cramped and poorly laid out.
The stairs looked as if they hadn't been cleaned or maintained in quite some time.
Bed looked as if it had been made by a child using scrap timber and was not particularly comfortable.
View from room not very pleasant and it was very noisy.
Believe this establishment was only created around 18 months ago, it looked and felt more like 18 years, with nothing done in the interim.
overall was so bad, we checked out after one night and found another much nicer establishment.
- Rene (6/5): - The experience was OK at this
- Thomas (6/5): - the front fire door was locked unbearable
Werde also bald nochmals ein paar wenige Nächte dort verbringen .... 😄
- Angie (8/5): - Lovely still, only thing was the lift wasn't working and we was on the 5th floor, but something that can not be helped
- Mohamed (4/5): Stay away please - Bed sheets were very dirty please see attached images, matrass is completely worn out and very uncomfortable causing back pain, staff at reception was very rude, place has no lift operating. Terrible place to stay, wouldn't recommend anyone to stay at Hillcrest Hotel unless the issues are fixed.
- Matthew (4/5): - First impressions were that the hotel is dodgy as we had to enter through a side door and go into the basement to access the reception.
We were provided with a room on the fourth floor having to climb six floors worth of stairs that were ridiculously steep. The first room we were given had a door that would not lock and staff allowed us to change rooms. The second bathroom stank of weed and both rooms were cramped despite allegedly being for two people.
The first night we heard someone loudly singing in the shower and on the second night we were unable to sleep as we kept hearing doors slamming and drunken people talking loudly and shouting.
At least the staff were friendly and the hotel is located in a convenient place, I guess.
- mark (4/5): - When you on the
- Dave (10/5): Great stay - Excellent customer service and a great place right in the heart of the City. Reception staff were so helpful and eager to help.
- Jan Kelvin (10/5): Near to the City Center. Accessible to essentials. - What I love about this hotel is its proximity to the bus station and the city center. The rooms are nice and tidy, and I love that there is an electric kettle, a selection of tea and coffee for the guests. Elevator was unfortunately under repair but nonetheless the stay was awesome.
- Jo (4/5): - The room was nicely decorated, bathroom looked new.
Very warm room but fortunately had a fan. Lift out of order so had to climb 100 steps which were steep ( I counted them)
Good location - quiet
- Andrew (4/5): - Arrived at the property to find that the down pipe on the gutter was broken. Spraying dirty water directly above the entrance to the premises all over me as I entered. Went to book in to find the lift was broken and clearly has been for some time. This was not mentioned in the email the hotel sent the day prior to my arrival. My room was on the 6th floor and staircase is very old with uneven steps and would not recommend to anyone with mobility issues. Rooms are very hot. Bathroom furniture clean but very tired with a lot of marks on ceiling and walls.
I would not recommend. Having stopped in hotels in city’s all over the U.K. this is one of the worst and is not good value for money.
The only plus point is that is was in a fairly central location for the bars and restaurants.
It also concerns me the due diligence that Expedia do on the premises that they advertise. Not a good example on the site.
- Charlotte (8/5): - The room was lovely, lift was out of service. Staff very friendly. The hotel is central to everything
- David (4/5): - I accept that there is a lot of renovation work going on, which meant there was no dining, no bar and although apologies were given, no lift. The room was okay but the mattress needs replacing and although I did not need it, the television could not get a signal. The staff,I met were helpful and polite.
- Joanne (2/5): - I paid £198 for a deluxe room and the room was so small you couldn't swing a cat in...we were put on the 6th floor with no lift working snd the stairs were very steep, as we are both 55 and both had both our knees replaced this was not ideal...there was no way to fill the kettle as it did not fit under the tap in the bathroom sink...the matress felt like it was 30 yrs old...on checking out the receptionists just took our key and never even asked how our stay was...I will be making sure this review goes on every social media platform
- Lucy (6/5): - The rooms were cleaned daily and we're well kept, I stayed for 10 nights, I can't complain about the room itself, access to WiFi and TV with Netflix etc in the room, during my stay the fire alarm went off during the night twice and during the day twice with no explanation for why, now this wouldn't be that much of a problem generally but when the lifts do not work and the stairs are steep and hard work and that is no exaggeration if you have asthma or breathing problems unless your on the bottom floor I really would ask them to move you I was on the 4th floor and my legs ached by the second day and I would be out of breath by the 3rd floor and I have asthma, I did spend most of my time in my room mostly to avoid those stairs only going out if needed, the only other complaint I have is on my last night I had not long got out of the shower and dried myself and got into bed as someone unlocks my door at 9pm at night and walks in because reception had just given them the key to my room by accident none the less but it was not a pleasant experience and I am just glad it happened on my last night otherwise I would have been asking for a refund and leaving had it happend earlier on in my stay. Staff are generally friendly and welcoming. Vending machines for crisp, cold drinks and tea coffee etc are at reception and there is a kettle with tea, coffee, milk and sugar in the room which is restocked every day.
- De (8/5): - Happy with price , staff and room however having to climb to 4th floor to reach our room at 79 years of age was not good ! By the time we reached our room I literally could not breathe.
Sadly if the lift was not working I would not return . I felt that it was the wrong room for an elderly couple !
- Mohamed (8/5): - Lift still out of service
- Mohamed (6/5): - Without having the use of Lift to avoid currying heavy bags on uneven staircase.
- Mohamed (4/5): - No lift operational
- Louise (2/5): - On 4 th floor disappointed lift not working
- Mohamed (4/5): - Please fix the lift ASAP, thank you
- Louise (2/5): Disgusted - Disappointed got put on 4 th floor had to climb up 8 flight of stairs as lift out of order it is worse because my partner uses a crutch and I have c o p d
- steven (8/5): - Good hotel at a decent price for a city centre location.
- Clive (6/5): Well located for one night for single people. - More like a hostel than a hotel - VERY BASIC.
Location great, price good.
- MRS CAROL (8/5): Location great - Location was great, bed comfy clean towels. Needs few touches plugs in better location needs bathroom shelf, side table etc. Sadly lift not working throughout stay BIG impact on our stay as we were on top floor 8 levels from ground very steep stairs. It deterred us from shopping as unable to carry things upstairs. Our knees badly swollen now!!! Staff were lovely. Needs blackout blinds slightly noisy rooms doors banging
- Pauline (8/5): Small room but clean & comfortable - We received an email on the day saying the lift was out of order. Unfortunately we were already on our way and, it being Grand National weekend, this was the only room available. Our room was on the 5th floor, and to be fair we were offered help with our luggage, but we only had a small weekend bag. The room was very smal, wouldn't call it a double room, the bed only just fitted. However, it was clean and comfortable and it was only for one night. We had intended to do some shopping but, because the room was on tbe 5th floor with no lift, we just unpacked showered, and went out again to the comedy show, as we couldn't face the climb more than once
- Nikki (10/5): - staff friendly
- Peter (10/5): - Great value for money. Perfect for a few lads away for a couple of nights to catch a game
- Jason (6/5): - If you want a cheap stay in the centre of Liverpool The Hillcrest Liverpool Central is ideal. The room was small but it was cosy & well furnished. The negatives was the bed wasn't very comfortable and the reception on tge tv was very poor so you couldn't watch any programs. There was a bit of nouse in the early hours.
- Verified traveler (6/5): Levelling Liverpool - I was attending a lLevellers concert at the philharmonic.Location is great , easy to get to from the station. Adequate facilities, staff were friendly. Heater in my room didn’t work so I was freezing all night . I did report it but I was only there 1 night so maybe it was looked at after I left .
- P (8/5): Liverpool for 1 night - Comfortable room however could not get shower to run hot
Did the job for a 1 night stay
- Simran (2/5): - the property does not advertise the correct scenario, room is too small and we have been given room which is designed for accessibility. The wash basin was too low for height, water was coming out of showers
- Ian (8/5): - Budget hotel, great price for such a central location. No complaints.
- Verified traveler (2/5): Absolutely shocking! - If you fancy a flooded room when you use the shower, then this is the place for you. We booked this room for somewhere to stay, but instead got a free swimming pool.
Better still, anyone could join us in our luxurious swimming pool as the door lock was non existent.
Valuables and clothes left in the room for anyone to come and have a ponder through.
Is this what you’d spend £90 on? I wouldn’t.
Have a look around before you book this place… Unless you’d like to catch a virus on your way out.
Oh… did I mention the bugs in the bathroom that looked like it hadn’t been cleaned in 10 years?
- Huda (6/5): - clean
quiet
easy to enter/exit
