Guest Reviews
- Monica (6/5): - It was a fine little motel. Super old and run down. There are cracks everywhere and a shower wouldn’t ever touch. My biggest issue is that they charge the same as a hotel like holiday inn with indoor access, good bathrooms, and free breakfast. You can’t charge hotel prices while being a motel with zero amenities. There wasn’t even an open front office.
- Eileen (6/5): - bathroom floor dirty and sloping to the outside wall. sink faucet did not work correctly.
- Luis (4/5): - Bathroom with clogs
- Christopher (10/5): - It was a cute little place to stay for the night after watching a high-school football game. They communicated well with us and we didn't have any issue. Rooms were clean.
- Millie (10/5): - Shower wouldn't get past cold water, but other than that adorable cactus themed room. Very nice.
- Maria (10/5): - Really beautiful!! The rooms, the area…
Thank you!
- Jimmy (10/5): - Overall great experience. They sent my key code by text so was able to go directly to my room.
- Millie (10/5): - Everything was wonderful but dead cockroach in bathroom which means pesticide is working against the cockroaches.
- Jimmy (10/5): - I liked everything. Liked the room. Plenty of space. The room w@s nice and cool and very clean. It was quiet and I could park right in front of my room. Highly satisfied
- Tonya (8/5): - Bed was a little uncomfortable. Bathroom cabinet space was very limited.
- Roberta (8/5): - I love the improvements the new owners have made at the Smokey Bear Motel. I stay there often. The rooms are clean and they are working to remodel the older rooms. The cooling and heating systems work very well, AND I wish I could take the mattress home with me! Very comfortable.
- Darrell (10/5): - Old town charm here in Capitan. Rooms are spotless, comfortable!
- Richard (10/5): - Nice place, morning a bit loud tenant near room 106? Open door TV turned up high.
- Millie (10/5): - The gladiolas in front of the hotel lobby and deer.
- John (10/5): Nice stay and nice cafe. - Power went out . Difficult to shower etc without light.
- Ernesto (6/5): - About a 30 min drive away from the city areas
- Pancho (10/5): - Very Comfortable
- John (10/5): - Easy check in and great rooms!
- millie (10/5): - snacks in basket. toiletries wonderful...clean lamp on when I got there precious. Thank you
- Ginger (8/5): - This was perfect for what we needed this week. The motel was clean, the staff was friendly and the complimentary snacks were much appreciated.
- Taska (10/5): - 👍
- Martin (10/5): - It was great! And great restaurant walking distance was a plus!
- nidya (10/5): - Far but confortable
- KRISANDI (10/5): - Great motel and appreciate the door code for entering withoit hassle
- Robbi (10/5): Thank you Smokey Bear! - Staff sent me information to enter room before i arrived. Did not have to check in at office, was able to straight to room. Located right by amazing restaraunt! Was so nice!
- Patia (8/5): Quaint motel. - It is an older motel and quaint! It fit its name, Smokey Bear motel! The room and the beds were clean, had extra towels already in room, water in frig, snacks in a welcoming bowl, and a coffee pot! We were there for 2 nights for a family graduation!
- Travis (10/5): - Coming here for many years , nice small town atmosphere and reasonable prices
- Juan (10/5): - Smokey Bear is great!
- Lorrie (8/5): Met Our Needs - As other reviewers have said, our room decor was cute and clean. The property itself seemed dated and in need of a handyman to repaint front doors and re-caulk the bathroom. Mattress was firm, maybe too firm for my back. Only one lock on the door, which was surprising in this day and age. The ladies at the front desk were very friendly, and the water bottles and snack basket left for us in the room were kind touches. Honestly, even though the Smokey Bear Hotel was 25 minutes north of Ruidoso, we chose to stay there to avoid steep taxes and fees in town.
- Noel (10/5): - Xx
- Darrell (10/5): - Super nice staff, excellent housekeeping. This historical hotel is old but so comfortable with great tv, coffee, fridge , micro, toiletries etc.
This should be your definite “stay” place when in Capitan.
- Anna (8/5): - Gardner was amazing in helping us in checking in to the motel.
- Robert (10/5): - Friendly staff. Comfortable room. Fresh mint for tea growing in the garden. It was a very enjoyable stay.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Small town gem! - Had a wonderful experience at SmokeyBear Motel! This is an older property with a few rough edges, but it was clean as could be, the water was very hot with great pressure, and all the amenities (fridge, microwave, coffee maker) were in "like new"condition! Carpet appears new, and the bed was comfortable and had great pillows. There's a restaurant in the parking lot and others within an eady walk. And the Smokey Bear Historical Park is right next door!
- Dillon (10/5): - This motel, while not the fanciest place in the world was perfect for what I wanted. I was looking for a quiet place to spend a few days away from people but still feel like home. The room was very cozy and almost felt like a well worn cabin. The diner in the parking lot served great food. It was peaceful and relaxing just like I wanted
- Tara (10/5): - The room was nice. The bathroom needs an update, but overall a good stay
- Lewis (10/5): Charming lodge - Charming room with nice free snack basket and friendly manager
- Edith (10/5): - Very cozy, clean and comfortable
