Guest Reviews
- Piotr (2/5): - Dirty and soiled linens with stains that looked like dry blood on bed. The desk attendant was disinterested in helping me check in when I walked in. Grandstay still had stuff like signs and markings of what the hotel used to be “Quality Inn.” There will not be a return to this hotel.
- THOMAS (10/5): Enjoyable - Nice room. Ok breakfast. Friendly staff.
- Mary (4/5): - Only apples and yogurt
- Amy (8/5): - We loved the recently remodeled spacious room but we had a couple of issues of which I alerted the staff to when we checked out. 75% of the tv stations didn't work and the outlet in the bathroom didn't work. Breakfast options were good, but they need to find a new, larger space. There's only three tables so there is no place to sit and it is also hard to move around to get your food. Good location for hotel.
- Mary (8/5): - Brand new. Comfy bed and pillows. Good breakfast. Pool is not finished yet they advertise on line and on marquee
- Theodore (8/5): - Didn't like the pillows but everything else was fine.
- Kelly (6/5): Could have been better but not the worst place - The pool was closed which wasn't a big deal but the TV only worked on and off. There was a hole in the bathroom door and some "brown/red" smears on the ceiling that were gross. The doors didn't fully close when you left so you had to make sure to pull them tight. The breakfast was good and there were a lot of options. The beds and pillows were comfortable.
- Brian (6/5): - This place is getting better with the new owners, but still a ways to go. Pool has said opening soon for about 5 years. Nice updating recently and price is right.
- Connie (2/5): Bugs and no help!! - There was a bug in the bed!!!! At this point there was no way we were staying at this hotel. The front desk lady understood our desire not to stay. Sonce we booked online we couldn't get a refund but was told they would make it right. The owner/manager will NOT refund our stay. Offered another stay for us, which we jave no interest. The hotel even though they said was updated it was not. The couch looked like it should have been thrown out years ago and no chance we would have aat on it. They basically put some lipstick on a pig and said it was updated.
As soon as we arrived I checked the bed and saw bugs between the sheets. At that point we grwbbed our stuff and left. My husband talked with the front desk lady who was very nice. She did all she could.
The manager said since we booked online they would not refund our $, we then called corporate and got the same. But again offered another stay at a discounted price. NO THANK YOU!!
I was always taught you make things right. Grandstay does not, appearently bugs are just part of the stay and we should want another room. Gross! Won't be staying at the Grandstay in Minoqua, WI or any other one if that is how they chose to run their business.
Unfortunately i didn't take any photos as the only thing i wanted ro do wad leave ASAP.
- Danielle (10/5): - Check in was easy. Our room was very clean. A/C worked great. Location was great- a very easy walk into downtown Minocqua (just over a mile). The hotel let us park before check in and leave our car on a very busy weekend. Price was great. A solid place to stay in Minocqua!
- Susan (10/5): - Lots of shops nearby and things to do
- robert (10/5): - maybe add eggs and sausage or its good. thanks
- Lynne (10/5): - Great experience
- Steve (10/5): - Everything was good
- james (6/5): - Litter surrounds exterior
- Oliverliski (8/5): - Clean, well kept room. The internet was a little slow. Check in was easy. Peaceful night’s rest.
- ERNST (10/5): - Renovated room--in very good shape! Good wifi.
- Michelle (8/5): - our first room had an odor to it and a machine still in the room to make it better. The woman at the counter apologized and gave us a new room which was great. The lock on the door on side of the building did not lock which is a safety issue! Pool not available. It looks like the renovations are simply not complete. That being said the lady at the desk was very personable.
- Brian (8/5): - Close to other businesses. The staff was nice and readily available if needed.Room was clean.
- AMY (10/5): - Appears to be undergoing some renovations. However, it didn’t interfere with our stay. Clean facility and rooms. Front desk staff was very polite and attentive.
- Dan (4/5): - Hotel is not downtown like it shows on the map, pool is closed and room smelled.
- Rhode (10/5): - The room is newly renovated/updated from floor to ceiling and very clean. Hotel is close to the stores and restaurants/fastfood.
- Jenna (10/5): - For a busy holiday weekend, the hotel was extremely quiet. No doors slamming, could not hear other rooms or people walking upstairs.
- Edward (10/5): - Actually met the owner at check-in, he was short-staffed and filling for the front desk clerk on break. He bought the motel from Quality last year, and has been making great strides to update and improve the property. New paint, new carpet, and an entirely new bathroom. (New tile, vanity, mirror, paint, etc. The bed feels pretty new as well.
He owns the motel across the street, which looks absolutely darling from across the parking lot, so I have confidence he’ll finish the makeover of this property well.
The outside still needs work, but you don’t sleep outside.
- Joseph (6/5): - I was upset we were not told that the pool and hot tub were not open. This should be told up front when purchasing a room. This should be illegal. The rooms were ok, a little bit dated, but fine. It was clean.
- Kim (8/5): - Older hotel, but it was very nicely renovated and very clean!
- YVONNE (6/5): - Room was clean and the atmosphere quiet. Safety concern: Back door to the hotel did not have a door lock, the phone in our room did not work and the back wall electrical outlets and bed lights stopped working our last night. Causing our cell phones to stop charging. Renovations should be noted on the site to allow proper consideration to making a reservation.
- Verified traveler (4/5): Steer Clear - It was an ok stay. The service was just ok. They tried to update it but it was poorly done. The beds were extremely uncomfortable. The towels were stained. The continental breakfast was kind of a joke. For what we paid, we are very upset and would not stay there again nor recommend it.
- Peggy (10/5): - The place was very clean . It had been under renovation with new owners recently.
Pool was closed and was posted it would be .
Breakfast was great . Had enough options as other hotels offer
I would stay there again .
- Dan (10/5): - Recently remodeled. Looks like brand new motel
- Eric (10/5): - To be clear I am a Marriott titanium snob and like to travel that way. The property is a little tired but you can tell the current ownership is renovating and it’s looking good. Room were very clean and comfortable. The person at the front desk was excellent even with 3 groups walking in at the same time. It’s not fancy but it you are looking for a nice spot for a night or 2 in this expensive area I highly recommend this property
- Denise (10/5): - Very nice staff...helpful and courteous!
- Juan Pablo (10/5): - Staff was friendly and welcoming, the hotel is not too expensive and is very calming and quiet, the pool is unfortunately closed, but the rest was great!
- Charlene (8/5): Better than rated - I was apprehensive to stay here because overall rating was not good. But it seemed the issue was more around the renovations so I gave it a whirl. The gentleman that checked us in was very friendly. The room was basic but nice and clean. The bedding and towels were mid quality. I did wake in the middle of the night thinking I was in my own bed so I count that as a comfortable sleep. We were only in town for one night and didn’t spend much time at the hotel. Overall, it was a pleasant stay and we would return.
- Mike (10/5): - Newly renovated.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - They are remodeling, and the rooms are very nice and clean. The breakfast did not have many healthy options, but my kids loved the waffles!
- Darien (8/5): - Front desk worker was fantastic. Our room was clean and newly remodeled with a comfortable bed. Breakfast was decent. Pool was still under construction (which we knew ahead of time and weren’t planning on using) but something to keep in mind if that matters to you. I would stay here again.
- Michael (6/5): - Very convenient location right on Hwy 51 and 70. Beds were average in comfort, new carpet and paint in hallway and room
- Carrie (10/5): - This hotel has been remodeled. Rooms are extremely clean and updated.
- Paul (8/5): - The entire hotel was under renovation, so it was a little smelly and dusty. But the rooms and everything was very nice. The pool and spa were shut down, as it stated on the advertisement. All in all, it was a nice place
- KATHLEEN (10/5): - We would stay there again
- Karen (10/5): - We thought the newly renovated rooms were great. Nice place!!!
- Chanin (8/5): - There are 2 vending machines: one with candy/food and the other with pop. The bottles that are on display were covered in dust. The candy machine was pretty much empty; only having peanut M&Ms.
- Andrew (6/5): - In wall A/C unit was very loud.
- Dianne (10/5): - Great staff very friendly
- Melissa (8/5): - The staff was very friendly and efficient. The room was beautiful and clean. They are in the midst of remodeling so there are improvements in the works.
The breakfast choices were delightful.
- Jeff (8/5): - The new owners took over in December and are working really hard to update the hotel. Painting rooms, halls and now working on the pool that should open soon! While we were there they were working on the parking lot!! Great people working very hard ... Keep up the good work!
- David (2/5): - Widow blocked by piece of wood so no one could open from the outside. Outside screen pried open someone tried to break in at one time . Didn't feel comfortable, never again!!!
- James (8/5): - Renovation in progress, front lobby and breakfast area needs work.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Good property, clean, spacious room, comfy bed.
I would suggest bigger TV's in the room.
- Brett (8/5): - Enjoyed the breakfast variety. Our dogs loved the room and scenery. Pool was being renovated and air conditioner was not very efficient.
- Lori (8/5): - Hotel undergoing renovations. Room was nice, friendly staff. Pool not available. Pricey for bare bones hotel. Quiet area.
- Kathy (10/5): - The hotel is under renovations so no pool at the time we were there, which wasn't an issue for us but could've been had we planned on that amenity. The gentleman on staff was very pleasant. The room was clean.
- TIM (10/5): - They were remodeling to nicer stuff. Place was nice , quiet and nice place to stay
Definitely be back next time I am
Through there
- Deborah (6/5): - I think you should let people know that the hotel is under very extensive remodeling! I definitely feel I paid way too much for my stay.
- Peter (4/5): Call ahead - Well I barely stayed there. Hotel in complete remodel, though my room was nice, the rest of the hotel is being remodeled. Pool and hot tub closed, with nothing on the booking info.
- Dan (2/5): - The property was under construction, no pool or hot tub would have been nice to know that ahead of time. Otherwise wouldn't have booked it. Breakfast area was dusty from construction. Remote in room didn't work. Blankets were stained
- Javon (2/5): - Need a number a too the exact hotel left over 200$ in items in hotel.
- kyle (6/5): - Hotel currently having renovations, so lots of construction supplies around areas, and pool is currently closed.
- Dennis (2/5): - The building is under renovation. Had to use the back door to get to room. Hallways were cluttered with materials, the pool was not open the hot tub was unavailable. No ice machine in working order. The gentleman at the front desk was very nice and apologetic. The room was not refundable so I was stuck staying there. The manager was not able to give a discount because I used hotels.com.
You should remove this property till it is up and running.
If you have a conscious you would refund me my money!
- Angelina (8/5): - Friendly staff, quiet stay. Good hotel for the price.
- AL (10/5): - Everything
- Renee (10/5): - The property is dated. Kinda on the shaby side. Seems clean
Staff was very helpful. Would not stay here again.
Pools closed disappointed
- PETER (4/5): - Pool is drained and not opening any time soon. Everything is old and dingy and falling apart even the vending machines were out of order
- Verified traveler (8/5): Needs renovating but clean, comfortable stay - Property needs renovating but clean, comfortable bed, comes with breakfast, nice owner.
