Guest Reviews
- Melanie (8/5): - Rooms were nice and clean, cosy but comfy. Bed was comfy and the bathroom toiletries were lovely quality as were the big white fluffy bathroom towels.
Breakfast was nice, the cooked breakfast was average but ok. The evening meal menu is limited and ok, but not the best pub food.
Overall, it’s a nice quiet place to stay with a very good Indian restaurant nearby in Lechlade. Would recommend.
- David (8/5): - Great old pub / Inn. Rooms were comfortable and a wonderful breakfast.
- Kevin (6/5): - Sunday roast, eaten at 4pm, felt like potatoes and Yorkshire pudding cooked many hours before. Had to ask for our room to be vacuumed as hadn't been done. Although restaurant shut at 5.30, hadn't expected the pub to be shut at 7. Nowhere to go, couldn't drive as we had drunk at lunch. Fire alarm, false alarm at 9.30pm. Both found the bed uncomfortable. Breakfast was good
- Trevor (10/5): - Nice outdoor area
- Stephen (10/5): - Beautiful
- Jonathan (8/5): - Quiet hospitality in an exceptionally quiet corner of England
- Dave (10/5): - Beautiful country pub, with breathtaking surroundings. Friendly staff, great food, and I will definitely stay there again.
- DAVID F (8/5): Bit of a “curates egg” - ie good in parts - Wonderful accommodation and a very nice pub. Sadly there were problems - mainly a pub with no beer! Food service was slow and my meal was disappointing; my starter was inedible and the main course was definitely NOT what I was expecting from the menu. My meal was changed and was deleted from the bill. This was a proper response and was much appreciated. Would I go back? Yes - I think we would as it’s such a nice place and I would give them a second chance.
- Sue (10/5): Just perfect - We absolutely loved our stay at this lovely pub.Set in a lovely little village. The staff were so friendly, the bedroom was very cosy, and warm. The bed was very comfortable and we slept very well. The breakfasts were very yummy and there was a choice of full English or cereals. Plenty of coffee or tea. The evening meals were delicious and good sized portions. There was always plenty of hot water in the bathroom and the room was lovely and warm. The village was so peaceful and we slept very well each night. All in all a wonderful few days
- Vicky (10/5): Outstanding - I travel a lot for work and I absolutely loved The Plough Inn. It’s in a beautiful village which is just picturesque, imagine a Christmas card with a snowy scene. It’s a cosy pub with a real warm friendly feel. The room itself was gorgeous, beautiful bedding and a cottage feel with a stunning a bathroom. It was exceptionally clean throughout and the towels were so fluffy it was like being wrapped in rabbit fur.
I didn’t have dinner but if I was budging by the breakfast I’m sure it was incredible. Everything about it was splendid.
Can not recommend highly enough. I will definitely book again.
Thank you so much.
- Janet (10/5): Hidden gem - A hidden gem if you are visiting the Cotswolds. Superb value for money at this quiet hotel. Breakfast was excellent, good quality and plentiful, served by the most attentive hotelier.
- STEPHEN (10/5): - Great place to stay and in easy reach of Cotswold gems. Lovely room and great breakfast. Thanks to Vincent and his staff for hosting us and providing excellent hospitality.
Even the price was worth every penny and although we didn’t have an evening meal we enjoyed the bar area to socialise. Saw a mistake on my bill and Vincent refunded me immediately. Would stay there again its lovely!
- Alan (10/5): A Cotswold idyll. - The bar has an exceptionally friendly atmosphere and an open fire just like pubs used to have engendered to a large extent by the charismatic French landlord. The food was excellent, our room was clean and comfortable and whole atmosphere was superb. We'll be back!
- Steven (10/5): A great weekend break - We had a lovely stay at the plough inn , it was a lovely little pub, so welcoming warm and friendly, our room was very cosy very comfortable and clean, a good selection of tea and coffee. The breakfast was delicious, plentiful and with a good of choice of alternatives to a full English. Would highly recommend!
- Michael (8/5): Convenient Location - Staff were friendly and attentive. Breakfast was limited in choice but well prepared and presented. Some maintenence issues, however nothing to spoil the stay. Very convenient for Kelmscott Manor. Definite old world charm.
- Stephanie (10/5): - Nothing short of exceptional. Stayed for the one night and had a magnificent Sunday Roast and great conversation with the staff. Vincent was the standout, taking excellent care of me and another group who stayed after hours talking about the state of the world. If you’re looking for a super cosy, quintessential “country pub” experience, look no further. Exceeded expectations on every front - excellent food, great wine list, welcoming staff and solid rooms. Overall excellent experience for this discerning traveler.
- Mårten (10/5): Cozy and excellent stay - Went for a one-night stay during a road trip to the Cotswolds. Clean and pretty rooms, excellent service and great food.
Vincent was very welcoming and made our stay feel extra special. We were the only guests and felt like we got VIP treatment.
Dinner was served next to the fire, fish and chips was probably the best we've tasted. Breakfast in same spot, good continental with a fresh full english to follow.
Will be back during future road trips.
- Gillian (10/5): Comfort in the Country - The Plough is a wonderful country pub, with friendly staff, delicious food, clean refurbished bedrooms and very comfortable mattresses
