Guest Reviews
- Martine (2/5): - I received a cancellation email 2 days prior our arrival due to a fire in the hotel. I called the hotel to validate. So we were obviously disappointed and had to look for an alternative for accommodation. I hope I get reimbursed.
- andrew (4/5): - cheap hotel and the only good thing about it is the price
- Matthew (2/5): Cancelled booking hours before check in - Cancelled room on day hours before check in and left me and family stranded with no place to sleep for the night. Staff didn’t care and said not their problem.
- Carol (8/5): - We felt that the hotel offered very good value for money for a short few hour stay on route to our destination.
It is true to say the hotel was full of charcter and one could easily imagine how beautiful it was in its heyday.... however time has clearly taken its toll. It seemed to have a variety of characters staying there.....
Certainly one may feel vulnerable in the sirrounding area.... but the car park was close and included in the cost of the room. We have no complaints whatsoever.
EXCELLENT VALUE FOR MONEY
- Julia (2/5): - I wouldn’t even let my dog stay there….and he’s dead….we didn’t even bring in our luggage and left after half an hour and that was after asking for another room as I tripped in the bathroom on the torn Lino..the second room was as bad and had a moat going around the edges of the bath, after tripping in the first room and using a walking stick I wasn’t risking it….the goings on we saw out the back was a no for me too, looked like it was being used as a hostel and should no way be being advertised on Expedia especially as the pictures they’ve deliberately chose to use do not truthfully reflect the current state of the property and rooms ..they can’t even justify it cos of the price cos we found a lovely place to stay a mile away for cheaper and was lovely clean, modern and safe…the lock on the door of one room they gave us at the crown was literary hanging off..I’m really disappointed at Expedia for listing this property and angry they had the nerve to send it to me as a recommendation
- mark (2/5): - Awful but that what you get for price I presume. Huge Window didnt close, no TV remote and they didn't have one.
Dated.
Rough area with smashed up vans In car park. Downstairs windows smashed.
Rooms ok.tho
- Pepina (2/5): You get what you pay for. - They say you get what you pay for and that was very true. I booked this hotel by mistake and because it was non refundable i decided to stay there anyway. Furniture grubby, carpet dirty and stained, curtains hanging off, towels stained. I was afraid to look at the mattress so slept on top and i definitely wasnt showering to use the towels. I was shocked to hear that the whole of the second floor was being used for temporary accommodation. The receptionist on duty was lovely and very helpful.
- Rachel (4/5): - I understood the price once I arrived. We passed people that looked suspicious of drug using in the halls many times. The bed was horrible. I woke up aching. Grateful for the free parking though. I’m sure in its day it was a great place. It’s very run down now
- Mashoko (2/5): - It was very bad .the whole hotel have bad smile. The hotel is very bad
- Adekunle (2/5): - The hotel is worse, cockroaches everywhere, smelly room, the TV is not working, and despite complaining to the staff, nothing was done.
- Satya (2/5): Horrible hotel all over UK - The hotel is in very bad state. Right from the entrance to the rooms. The rooms are very dirty, toilets are dirty, window broken, paint peeling off everywhere. No coffee mug, however a kettle is given. The chair is broken. There was a lot of noise during night, probably by youngsters and drunkard locals which disturbed the sleep. Never recommend this to anyone.
- Joseph (2/5): - Booked 2 rooms and when we got there got told only one was booked beds were shot springs gone overall just didnt enjoy the stay
- Abu (2/5): Bad Overview - It was so bad
The room was uncleaned
There were red bugs in the bed and carpet
The carpet was so smelly
Unable to stay there due to dirty room
- Jordan (2/5): Don’t bother - It was just awful!
The bed was super uncomfortable, felt like I was just laying on springs
There is so much noise! All of the floorboards creek, you could hear everything from every room, the road outside the car park everything, I don’t think I even got two hours sleep
- Chris (8/5): - This place is a good budget choice. I think many people have very high unreasonable expectations these days. It was fine for me.
- Nick (6/5): - As an experience it sure is something.
- Lisa (2/5): - the hotel was disgusting not only was it filthy, run down, windows were broken the WiFi box was hanging out of the room window the floorboards all over the place felt like they were about to collapse, it stunk of drugs (weed) it was more like a half way house, not a safe place to stay in with kids the bedroom doors were not secure. The pictures on the website did not compare to the actual hotel!!
- Verified traveler (6/5): Very Basic hotel….. - The hotel definitely needs modernising, curtains in bedroom couldn’t close properly, bath tap kept dripping, massive spider in corner of bathroom.
The carpets didn’t look like they had been cleaned for a long while!
Just seemed very run down
- Verified traveler (2/5): - Awful scruffy hotel
- Brice (10/5): - The reception staff was friendly and helpful. And he let me check in a few hours before the normal check in time.
- CUNEYT (2/5): - The hotel was not clean.Door lock was unsafe.
I don't want Expedia to offer this hotel to their customers.
- Flora (2/5): Glad to get away from this rundown hotel and area. - To be fair the new owners had only bought the hotel two months ago, and they were trying to improve it. But they could not do much about the location, a really run-down area with shops that had been boarded up for years, pavements that were trip hazards ever step you took. But the hotel car park gave no confidence when we arrived, weeds everywhere, signage not clear, hoped that our car would still be there on return. Reception was just about OK, but pavement outside had spittle on it, and some very shifty characters hanging about. No lift to room but that was OK, but room was inadequate. No dead lock and door jamb looked broken. No working plug in basin, and did not run away, Light in bathroom so dim you could not see. No bedside tables or chairs to put case on. to be fair, it did seem clean, nice towels, and coffee etc, and evidence of a repaint, though not properly finished. And worst of all, no food at all available - eventually walked up to a kebab shop and had something to eat (after a long drive up from the South Coast). The cost was almost £40 - ironically almost the same as the brilliant one we stayed in near Gloucester on our way home.
- Tyson (6/5): - Perfect setting to film a murder documentary.
