• Trevor (4/5): Tired but comfortable - The hotel had just been taken over from Holiday Inn Express and is in desperate need of updating and upgrading. Room carpet has definitely seen better days with stains etc. Sink didn’t hold water as the plug didn’t work! Although there was a kettle there was no tea or coffee and in fact the kettle was turned off. Bedside light didn’t work. Breakfast was extra and very little plant-based or vegetarian option. Despite all this, it was clean and bed was comfortable. They’re obviously going to be modernising it, but it needs to be done asap.
• robert (10/5): Excellent for price point ..... - Cheap, clean no frills hotel Stayed one night on a stop over Cannot fault this place at £35 a night its way too cheap totally underselling itself . If you book this expecting the Hilton your going to be disappointed and write a bad review .. It was exactly what I needed a cheap no nonsense hotel in Aberdeen would stay again if I was here on a short trip ...
• Euan (2/5): - I stayed in the room for about 20 mins and returned to reception and told them about the broken window in my room and the unkept filthy condition of my room. They didn't seem to care about my complaint and uninterested in my complaints and couldn't care less when I said I was leaving. I will never use Hotels.com site again and will tell my friends the reason why.
• Peter (6/5): - While the restaurant staff, especially the chefs, were great, this former Holiday Inn Express looks like it is being run down. No air conditioning, a table for you to put laptop but no chair for it (and no response from desk when requested), tv kept changing channels (possibly from guest next door) - again reported this and no action taken. When I moved the sofa, the amount of dirt underneath it was frightening.

• John (6/5): Cheapest Hotel in Aberdeen - An ex Holiday Inn Express, which still has all the branding displayed, not sure how they get away with this. The reception has no welcoming feeling, no personality, no “looking forward to the next couple of nights here” feeling, it’s dead. The lower car park is overgrown and a bit grotty in places. The room had a strange smell even with the window open, air conditioning and ventilation not working, it’s Aberdeen so the air conditioning not a major issue, but the extraction in the shower/toilet is maybe why the room was a little smelly, after a shower the bathroom was still steamy 30 mins later, so no air flow to extract the stream away. The bedroom window hasn’t been cleaned in years, it was filthy, the room just needs to be hoovered properly, the only place to sit in the room was the sofa, and it wasn’t in the best condition, again grubby and damp. The bed was ok and the sheet, pillow and duvet cover were clean. A kettle with no cups, tea bags, coffee, sugar or milk, is strange, if your not going to supply the basics in term of refreshments, don’t have a kettle in the room (unless it’s used for hot water to wash with, when the hot water in the sink runs cold) I have stayed in cleaner Hostels sharing a room with 3 other people, with one bathroom. The present owners need to put their own stamp on this place, inject some life back into it, or it will go the same way as the previous owners The Holiday Inn Express which closed its doors around 2020, shame really, a bit of TLC.
• Jacqueline (4/5): Basic beyond basic - This is basic beyond basic. The bathroom in our room was clean and useable, the sofa bed however was not suitable; the mattress didn’t even fit the whole bed, the pillows are years old the main bed sheets were stained. Our first experience was the lift which had fresh blood in i, this was not cleaned the whole visit. There is a kettle and few cups but nothing else. There is no place to get a coffee another resident had asked for alcohol but was advised bar was not open. This was not late at night.
• Audrey (2/5): Disgustingly filthy, staff couldn't care less - I recently booked a room at the above hotel. It was so disgustingly filthy I felt physically sick and could not stay. I reported the following issues to reception: The room had not been vacuumed for some time The room stank of urine and sweat The bed base was covered in body fluids The bathroom had not been cleaned and had chunks of pubic hair in the shower tray The window would not open for fresh air - it was so dirty I could not see out. The sheets were marked The corridors were deep in dust, the lift stank of urine, filthy lift walls. The car park on lower level had scrap metal and other rubbish dumped making it unsafe. This hotel does not meet any acceptable hygiene standards and should be investigated as a public health hazard. I attach photos of the above. Visitors to Aberdeen should be-able to stay in a clean room.
• Lutz Andreas (10/5): - Garbage in the parking lot. The sheets were clean but the bed was stained. No holder for toilet paper. The hotel has definitely seen better times.
• Verified traveler (4/5): Not great tbh. - Very tired room. Air con didn’t work but they’d left a fan and a plug in radiator in the room. Bathroom was ok, but no soap dish or soap dispenser so sink area quickly became grotty. No tea/milk/coffee in the room. Shared a deluxe twin with my friend and there was nothing deluxe about it!!!! Reception staff seemed nice but was about the only person working there as far as I could see. No bar facilities although the seating in the bar seemed quite nice. Wasn’t sure I was brave enough to think about ordering food from the hotel but Starbucks, macdonalds and KFC are only a short walk away.

• Greg (2/5): Poor experience - Hotel was vastly overbooked with no rooms available for at least 9 guests while I was trying to check in. No communication of issue in advance to arrange alternate stay plans. No help or assistance with alternative location on site. A shambles really.

• David (2/5): - Booked a luxery twin room with bath( the photos from inside and out look great) got there place completely run down and looks nothing like the photos, got the keycard and we were giving a double room no bath, the place was manky and stains on the sheets, so trundled down to be told we dont have a twin with a bath...infact we dont have baths at all so tjeres nothing i can do...so i demanded my.money back and left...vile place

• carole (2/5): Worst hotel that has ever been booked for me - The outside of the building has empty discarded alcohol bottles as well as empty cans of alcohol. The room i was given first was for a disabled person. with mould in the bathroom on the shower curtain and tiles the shower head was disgusting, the window in the bedroom was that dirty you couldn't see out of it. What is described on the internet is not what you see when you get there. Lots of men going in and out of the hotel It was decided that it wasn't safe for me to stay there as a single female on business and the company had to look for another hotel for me to stay in that night.
• Ilona (4/5): - I come with my kids 5 and 11. When we get there be a little hard to find this hotel coz is another building . Rooms look different on picture look so nice but in real look rubbish. We check in at 2 and left same day at 5 we don't like it. In bathroom was dust and my son is allergic.

• Simon (8/5): - Former Holiday Inn Express, now part of the Belvilla group, operating under the OYO brand. Five floors of 29 rooms, plenty of parking but an additional £5 per night. No catering, but there are a couple of adjacent fast food and coffee drive-thrus, a nearby petrol station and M&S Foodhall. Odd number rooms have a seaview. Good rates, especially for the standard of room. Certainly would return.

• Parvaiz (2/5): - Second time stayed here. This was a bad experience. Got to room. Dirty bedsheets ,hairs and stains. Yuk. Had not been changed. Had to go to reception to complain. Got changed out. Next day asked them to make up our room as we went out. But its ok. No need to change sheets as a 2 night stay. Came back. Did nothing to the room. Beds unmade. Dirty towels still lying on the bathroom floor. Left fresh towels and some tea bags. Unbelievable. The Indian owners have no idea as to how to run a hotel. If you want a cheap bed for the night and filth does not bother you. Then by all means stay here. If these things matter pick another hotel. The reason for second visit was had a voucher. Never again. Wont ever go near the place again. Also AC does NOT work throughout the hotel. If you are lucky you get a fan for your room. Also all hotel room windows do not open. Enjoy the heat and smell in the hot weather. Avoid this place unless its a cheap room for the night. And filth does not bother you as you have travelled throughout the third world.

He gave us a large fan to use which was ok for one night. Its not the most photogenic hotel and entrance. But for one night it was ok. Shower and toilet was very clean.

• Edward (2/5): - I did not stay, the worst hotel I have ever seen. Dirty, smelly, the whole area outside, inside reception and even in the room was disgusting. I ventured in to my room, took one look, turned around and politely handed my room key back and went to book another hotel. This is an ex holiday inn which appears to have been bought or rented by someone trying to run a hotel without any investment whatsoever. Avoid at all costs. I only paid £39 for the room, so my expectations were low, but nothing prepared me for this!

Pleased they've got the standard TV channels sorted.. I need a car jump start one morning and the guy on the counter didn't give it a second thought. Cheers mate. • Gordon (10/5): Great Value - Tremendous value for money. Reading the reviews I wondered what we were entering but completely ignore them. Well run and extremely clean. Plenty of parking. Only criticism would be better signage in the car park directing you to the correct reception. I would not hesitate in staying here again.
• Eamonn (2/5): Terrible - Entry to hotel was through basement which was littered with cigarette ends, coffee cups and trash bins overflowing. Could not locate my booking confirmation No Bar No food No housekeeping Originally booked for 2 nights only stayed for 1 as corridors were full of take away boxes and rubbish. The photo is wrong in the picture (Holiday Inn) actual hotel is the Holiday Inn Express 9Former) which is at the back of the original Holiday Inn. Noise from 4am in car park as workers travelling to Rigs and construction
• Verified traveler (2/5): Cheap for a reason. - Upon arrival at night it was in total darkness apart from the occupied room lights. No signage of where reception is or if there was it was not illuminated. Hallways are filthy, there was overwhelming smell of cigarette smoke in the hallway of the room I was allocated so strong I could taste it. The room was ok (previos holiday inn) I couldn't open the room window to alleviate the smoke smell. There's a sign saying put the AC on for air but that's only going to draw in smoke filled air. There was a constant clicking noise coming from the headboard area. One of the blocks is not even wind and water tight with windows missing directly under what looked like occupied rooms. I've stayed in hotels in the under developed world that have been better than this. In life if it's cheap it's cheap for a reason. Great place if you want to chain smoke in your room. Take a torch for the car park. I couldn't even stay one night ( I had booked for 2 nights) I lasted 10minutes in the room and checked out. I'll never be back under the current ownership. The reception person did offer to move me but I dread to think what the other room would've been like.
• Colin (4/5): Cheap but not cheerful - The reception was difficult to find with poor signage and the front wentrance is not the entrance. The carpark is fairly well lit once you know where to go and the condition of the second building / actual hotel was in a reasonable condition. Check-in was straightforward with lifts up to the room. On arraval at the room we were greated with a hot room unfortunately the air conditioning did not work and windows are fixed closed (sign says use air-conditioning to regulate heat). The room was clean and in good condition although the tv didn’t work and the hair dryer and kettle PAT testing was 8 months out of date. Reception was unable to fix the tv although did manage to get wifi connected but couldn't access all online services like iplayer. Lots of noise through thin walls from noisy guests who were loud and swearing late in the evening, although can't blame the hotel for the actions of other guests. All above being said for £26 for the night whatit was only the excessive heat and noisy guests that really caused the biggest issue. Unfortunately I would not stay again unless the facilities ate fixed / updated to an acceptable standard.

• Ronald Gordon (2/5): - I was on way to hotel to check in at 18:00 and was less than 2 minutes away when I received a call saying that they had no available rooms and I would be unable to stay. They did offer a room in an alternative hotel in the centre of the city, some 2 miles away but there was no free parking there and the only available parking would cost £8. They declined to provide free parking. As alternative hotel was in the wrong area for me, I declined their offer. Fortunately I found alternative accommodation nearby myself at short notice. Annoyed that they did not honour my booking and amazed that they thought it appropriate to cancel with no notice. Will never consider another hotel in the Belvilla group again.
