Guest Reviews
- Miki (10/5): - It’s clean room.
- Penny (6/5): - I expected more. Some staff were ok but most not. Never was given a tour had no idea where anything was
- Antonio (10/5): - Was great for my stay.
- james (4/5): - the picture in this view is accurate but when booking, the picture showed more room and better access. its really for tiny people no bigger then 4ft.
- Trey (10/5): - Clean, safe and convenient!
- Marlaina (8/5): - The facilities were clean and staff were very nice and helpful. I had a couple of concerns, but for the price, it was a relatively good stay. 1) I was supposed to have a designated locker with my booking, but the one I was assigned couldn’t be opened (even by the staff) and for some reason they wouldn’t just re-assign me a new one, so I went without. 2) the “mattress” was not a mattress, it was a thin mat like you’d find in a gym. The website descriptions could be more accurate in this regard, as it clearly states there will be a comfortable twin mattress and that’s not true.
Overall, no regrets and would stay there again if needed.
- Leticia (10/5): - Great staff and location. Quiet and clean
- Marco (10/5): - During my 6 night stay at First cabin International Hawaii I found the capsule style hotel to be very cozy. They were incredibly friendly and accommodating. The location is great I didn't even need to rent a car as all food and shopping is within walkable and bikeable distance. There's also a really cool skybar located on the 21st or 22nd story in the same building and has great happy hour food and drinks.Truly I had a great vacation there and will return to stay at the hotel! Thanks so much to the crew at first cabin! Mahalo!
- Malachi (10/5): - Easy and quiet inside
- Marie (10/5): - Perfect
- Michael (10/5): - First time staying in a hostel and I was impressed. Great location and amenities. Would stay again.
- Andrew (6/5): - Staff was very helpful
- Scott (10/5): - Friendly staff and very clean
- SHUYUAN (10/5): - 非常好👍
- Carl (10/5): - Excellent!
- Steven (10/5): - I did not know about the airport shuttle when I arrived, once at the hotel staff told me about the shuttle and in great detail of which I appreciate. The facilities were clean and tidy. Staff took care of my suitcases before my check in time which was very helpful.
- Tenielle Olivia (8/5): - First Cabin International was fantastic! Though it wasn't the comfiest, it was incredibly clean and the staff were lovely.
- Trinh (10/5): - Great hostel style.
- Tawnya (6/5): - Did not like the fact they charged my card two days before my stay. I called and sent an email, I was told it was on hold until after my stay. But yet when I got there, they had already charged my card. So I told girls and the manager what was said, and they was able to credited me back so i could use my other card. So I was happy about that.It was nice really cant complain. Just not my cup of tea. I don't know what you call that thing that was on the bed. A feather bed, it didn't have enough feathers period. It looked comfortable in the pictures, but I don't know, it is was un comfortable. The bed underneath was hard as a rock. TV was hanging to high, almost broke my neck. Location was hard to find.
- Donald (2/5): - The pictures and reviews are misleading. It is a hostel that smells like a nasty gym locker room. Everything seems dirty.
- Dustin (8/5): Great Stay - Could upgrade on the comforters of the beds
- Brooke (6/5): - Shower areas were consistently full of hair, not due to housekeeping not doing there jobs but guests being dirty
- Angela (6/5): - It have a very good location, but it is noisy at night, a lot of unnecessary sound made by door closing at night when we share the same room with a lot of people. The staff for room service use a lot of time at daytime to do the duty. It would have been much better if we know when they do their job, since male employees have also access to Women cabin too.
- Shannon (10/5): - I surprisingly really loved it. As a solo traveler I stayed in the female pod and felt really safe and also like I had privacy when I needed it. You can’t beat the location… across the street from the beach and all the shopping. ABC stores providdd decent affordable food like ramen, pho and sushi. I would definitely come back
- Bryanna (10/5): - At first I was skeptical about this place but I really wanted to go with my family and this was all I could afford. The first night I was a little worried that I wasn’t going to like it, but then I got used to it made some really cool girls in there and it was such a vibe. If I were to ever go back I’d definitely stay here again.
- Daniel (10/5): - The pod style beds were definitely unique and were surprisingly not as small of a space as you might think. You’re able to connect to the TV in your pod via Bluetooth and stream whatever you feel like! The lounge room though is something you can’t miss, as it has some of the best ocean views of Waikīkī I’ve ever seen!
- Ebonee (10/5): - Unique and affordable. Close beach access, mall, and other stores and eateries!
- Lorna Salo (8/5): - Staffs are accomodating and friendly
- Nicole (10/5): - Clean
- Brenna (10/5): - The business class cabin pods were perfect as someone traveling alone who didn’t want to feel like I was stuck in a coffin! I had a great experience. My one tip is, if you are someone who doesn’t like a harder mattress, to bring your own blanket and to use the comforter as a mattress pad.
- Stephen (8/5): - Good for the type of hotel it is. Clean and safe with sufficient amenities, all at a great price relative to any other nearby options. The only downside for me was the fact that the partitions are essentially thin screens, which do nothing to reduce noise from other guests. During my stay, the woman across from me snored loudly all night, which made it difficult to sleep. I recommend ear plugs for anyone who stays at this hotel.
- Johannes (8/5): - The pod itself was comfortable and clean. Fresh towels provided everyday. The staff does their best to keep the hotel clean. The problem however are the guests. It seems like some of them don’t have common sense and think it‘s appropriate to call their friends on speaker in the middle of the night or watch loud videos. These people also seem to think it’s okay to flood the showers or leave used towels on the shower floor. So overall, the hotel is a great value but be prepared for some NASTY and LOUD people. I would come back for the same price I got ($40/night), but I wouldn’t pay anywhere near $100/night which is the regular rate on their website.
- Roman (6/5): - if you want to smell stinky feet please , because the cabins are not completely closed, some guys from the reception helped me with my problem, thank them
- Mei (8/5): - Good price and location
- Tricia (10/5): Great stay - Nice and comfortable I like that I can close the bed area off. It was nice and private. I could stand on the bed and still have room. Of course this was the business class. There is no room to stand on the side of the bed, but the pod was nice. Overall the lounge area is nice and has a great view. They have a coffee set up that was nice in the kitchen area.
- Marcus (6/5): - Mehhh
- Hazen (6/5): - Don’t be fooled by positive ratings. I love the idea of a capsule hotel, but the shared facilities were filthy, covered in other people‘s hair and mold. Other guests were not particularly courteous in the small sleeping space. Don’t expect to be able to store anything securely.
- Armenthia (10/5): - All the staff were kind, welcoming, and did whatever they could to assist you. For a hostel style hotel, it is the quietest one I've ever been to, despite the usual noise of folks getting up, talking, existing, etc. As for the pods, if I could change anything, it would be the steps to the top bunk. I was fine with it and it's doable for someone who is more able bodied. However, for those who lack upper body strength and even balance, it would be tricky to get up and down without hurting yourself.
- Lucy (8/5): - First time at a capsule hotel and it was a cool experience. I got my own pod in the same gender section and it was quite majority of the time except when ppl were packing (which is understandable for travelers.) The pod can be locked from the inside but otherwise it could be accessible to anyone. You do get a key to a lockable drawer but limited space and getting things in and out the pod when you need it can become annoying. Sometimes the open storage shelf near your pod might be occupied too and that just leaves you putting your stuff a bit further or in the locker rooms (which imo was too far for a short term stay.)
There is a TV screen inside the pod (bluetooth headphones required for quite environment) but gotta login to your own streaming services.
New fresh towels provided each day. Shared bathroom with showers (separated) in one room and toilets in the other. Bonus: the toilets have the fancy japanese bidets.
Lounge/kitchen was public space to eat and relax. Shared fridge, just write your name and date. Tea provided and coffee restocked/brewed in the morning. You're supposed to only eat in the lounge. I felt that at busier times, the trash should have gotten taken out more often or that the space should have been cleaned a bit.
After midnight, access to the capsule hotel needs staff attention to buzz you in instead of just your code.
The location is prime for visiting and tourism as it is in the heart of Waikiki.
Staff was very friendly and helpful!1
- Marcus (2/5): - Bedbugs
- Marcus (2/5): - Bedbugs
- Claudia (8/5): Great location - Location is Great. For the price its what I expected
I stayed in the first class cabin and it was comfortable. I liked the separate lounge area in front of my cabin.
- Fawn (10/5): - great location, safe and clean.
- Carlos (10/5): - Cleane
- Aryana Aliyah (10/5): - It was my first time solo traveling and this was such a great place to stay. The staff was nice and everyone even those staying there were very respectful and kind.
- Christopher (10/5): Perfect - The perfect example of what it is. Ideal.
- Elizabeth (8/5): - I liked having my own personal sleeping space instead sharing a bunk with someone like the regular hostels. Still shared space with others so if snoring or hearing content without headphones is annoying this is not the place for you. The dining area wasn’t regularly cleaned up. Located in waikiki. Shopping dining and beach few steps away
- Susan (10/5): - Was perfect for the price
Lounge has beautiful view of the ocean!
- Judith (10/5): - Close to beach
- Jessica Jun (10/5): - A great and safe option for traveling solo.
- Anh (10/5): - Kind staff and clean pod!
- Quentin (10/5): - My name is Quentin and I would just like to say thank you to the staff the first cabin international hotel. I am a working professional on the island and this is my temporary home. It has been just what I need to settle in on the island as I look for permanent residence, so thank you guys for being amazing.!!!
- Arthur (8/5): - It takes a while to get used to compared to standard accommodations, especially if you tend to pack a lot and are used to privacy and space.
Once you're in the flow it becomes second nature.
- Virginia (10/5): Once in a Lifetime - I normally don’t travel alone, but I needed accommodations for just 1 extra day on the island, so I opted for this. This was actually the best hotel experience I’ve ever had! I’ll likely be coming back here again the next time I’m in Honolulu.
- Antonette (4/5): - You can't beat the location! It's right across from one Waikiki's shopping centers, a minutes walk to breath taking beaches, and variety of eateries to choose from.
I was greeted warmly by the waitstaff. Check-in is at 3 PM, and I came in early. Luckily, I was able to leave my baggage until I can be properly processed and was allowed to stay in the lounge area. They have beautiful ocean views.
For the most part, common areas, showers and bathrooms are kept clean and orderly.
Unfortunately, the sleeping pods themselves were uncomfortable! The disposable PAPER-like sheets to the 3 inch firm pad, and the tiny steps to enter the pod. I was there for a week, and the sheets are not changed daily. Mine was changed twice during my stay. I think the piling on the sheets disentegrating was the clue to getting a change out.
There was also no insulation between pods. I can hear people whispering very clearly as well as people shifting their luggage. Sooo...with. great location comes the party loud noises and it does not stop until well past midnight.
The listing advertised for a refrigerator and there was none available during my stay.
If you're looking for a comfortable rest, this is NOT the place for you. This is more for a place to layover, relax, and chill before a flight. I can't even recommend this place for a nap in the afternoon because that's when cleaners are in the area and it is VERY loud!
- Michael (10/5): - Pod style hotel, Great for the price, ideal for budget traveling, great staff, people, location, price, definitely recommend for those who are single traveling to Hawaii on a budget and still have a great time. Overall 5 stars.
- Amber (10/5): - Making sure that people with rental know where to park or have knowledge about parking options
- Miki (10/5): - スタッフの皆さんが親切でした。
- Maribell (10/5): - I am still in shock at what a wonderful experience this was. Here I was, thinking it was the cheaper option for one night but wow I would stay here again in a heartbeat! So cool and futuristic! Thank you!
- Helen (10/5): - Great for solo traveller who only need a bed for a night or two
- BRENDA (10/5): - so clean and convenient to the beach
- Hiroyuki (10/5): - This place is clean, quiet and convenient location.
- RASHEL (10/5): - Have an excellent location, the place is really good for the price, only I didn’t like the bed because it was hard but it’s okey.
- Kim (10/5): - 100% the neatest place. So clean, quiet, hospitable, staff is great with tips and helping where they can. I love the pods. AC is so nice and cool
- Tim (10/5): - Clean, quiet, and in a great location.
- Eric (6/5): - The pods are not sound proof. If you are a light sleeper, this would not be a good choice. People are on their phone using speaker phone and are just not respectful of others. The bed is like sleeping on the floor. The shower and bathroom is only cleaned once a day and quite honestly, it needs it at least twice. The shower curtains smell of mildew really bad. For the price, the location can’t be beat.
- George (8/5): - I like everything, very nice place, good price
- belle (10/5): - Affordable clean the receptionist were kind. Excellent know what they're doing. I'm impressed.
- Kim (10/5): - Clean quite
- John (6/5): - Too much snoring, some guests with bad manners inconsiderate of others, that include tracking dirt in showers, and basic task of flushing toilets. The cleaners and front desk were exceptional.
- Kim (10/5): - Love the employees kindness, and they are very helpful. It is so very, very clean and organized. Best of all respectable and quiet in sleeping areas.
- Joseph (8/5): - Excellent stay for what it is. Cheap and cheerful and the staff is very pleasant and helpful.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - I would definitely recommend this place for anyone, its accessible through most major places like the beach, food areas, shopping and so much more. The hotel itself is amazing its so much better and cleaner than a hostel i would definitely recommend this over a hostel anytime. 10/10
- Victoria (10/5): - Please try to reinforce silence in the common room areas.
- Kim (10/5): - Clean and peaceful place. I will be back. Thank you for creating a place to sleep, bath and gather. In Hawaii that is all you need. The ocean, beaches, shops, food and entertainment. No reason for a big room!
- Veronica (2/5): - I have a hard time with this place. While the concept is great, it is not comfortable at all.
The beds are hard as a rock, difficult to climb into (and I’m only 5'4”), and the noise between capsules is ridiculous. I checked in around 6pm, wasn’t given much information about the amenities, and was simply told where to go and left to fend for myself.
The location is convenient, close to a lot, but after exploring for a couple of hours I decided to retire to my capsule around 9:40pm. I tried to log into the TV, but it was such a difficult feat that I gave up and just listened to my phone. Once I finally fell asleep, I was woken by people hooking up in a capsule nearby—it was completely inappropriate. After that, I turned up my earbuds, only to be woken again by a loud snorer.
When I opened my pod, I found another guest struggling to sleep as well because of the uncomfortable beds and the noise. When I mentioned this to the front desk, they told me that guest was checking out that day and that it “shouldn’t be an issue.” But the reality was, I was unable to sleep at all.
At 2am and again at 4:30am, I got up to lodge further complaints and told staff I was making alternative lodging arrangements. They were apologetic but said I would need to return when the manager was on duty in the morning. At 5am, I gave up trying to rest and went for a walk, as it was simply impossible to relax with the noise and the hard bed.
When I came back, I decided to take a quick shower—only to step on
- Izza (10/5): - I like how affordable the price is.
I didn’t see anything that I didn’t like. I like everything
- Keziah (10/5): - Great place for a solo trip 💖
- Reanna (10/5): - Absolutely loved my stay here. Clean, close to EVERYTHING, met some really kind people from around the world. There’s no better place to stay in Honolulu.
- Davis (2/5): - Just stay in a regular hostel. This hotel is dirty, smelled bad, and the people were unfriendly. This business will no longer exist in a few months.
- Maria de Lourdes (10/5): - Cleanliness
- Daisha M (8/5): - Bed wasn't comfortable
- Cliff (6/5): - Convenient and spacious
- Jimmy (10/5): - Great accommodation for the price! Very well run and safe!
- Michael (10/5): - Parking sucks but the hotel itself is the best hostel I’ve stayed in
- Alberto (10/5): - Bed was comfortable, Housekeeping was consistent. Great option for those who plan to walk around waikiki a lot.
- Hallie Jo (2/5): - The bed was so uncomfortable that I couldn’t sleep, I had to defend another guest against a potential human trafficking situation during my stay, and after everything, the hotel will not respond to my requests for a refund.
- Virginia (10/5): - The whole experience was unique!
- Charles (10/5): - Excellent hostel! Clean rooms, friendly staff, great location in Waikiki, amazing choice!
- Emma (8/5): - Brilliant and clean place to stay. Only con would be the beds aren’t that comfortable and the bedding is very thin and comes off the duvet
- Adam (10/5): - I slept much better than I thought in the capsule. Other guests were very respectful and there was a group effort to make it pleasant for everyone else
- John (10/5): - Professional staff and cleaning crew second to none I have ever seen.
- Dominique (10/5): - First Cabin International Hawaii exceeded my expectations! The property was regularly cleaned and there were many amenities. The price is unbeatable for the location. The hotel is located in the center of the waikīkī strip, right in front of the Royal Hawaiian center. The staff was also very kind and helpful!
- Angela (8/5): - the price and how convenient it was to everything.
- Jackie (8/5): - It was very quiet and others respected each others space. I booked with Expedia with Book Now, Pay Later. I am not sure if this is the new procedure but there is a hold on your credit card and the payment comes out midnight on day of checking in.
- Nathan (10/5): - Very good people
- VICTOR (10/5): - Convenient place for a short stay
- Jermey (10/5): - SIMPLICITY AND PRICE IS AMAZING
- Nicholas (10/5): - Highly recommend for anyone looking to visit.
- Surina (10/5): - OMG!! I will never stay at another hotel ever again if I have the option of staying at a place like this. I was told that this place is an upscale hostel. I don’t know what it is but it is BETTER than any upscale hotel I’ve ever stayed at with a quarter of the cost.
It was the cleanest and had the most helpful hosts I’ve ever encountered.
The location is also unbeatable and the views are gorgeous. I can’t say enough about this place. It is definitely my go to place and I can’t wait to stay there again. THANK YOU TO ALL THE STAFF FOR A VERY MEMORABLE VACATION!!!🙏
