Guest Reviews
- Marion (4/5): - Room never cleaned, no hot water for shower in the morning, no evening meal available.
- Heather (8/5): - Parking area was safe, and extra free parking is available close by.
Room clean and comfortable.
- Steven (6/5): - Check in was simple and friendly. The room was small but clean we did not use the spar facilitys but there was just a gym and pool no treetments. The breakfast was cooked well but the coffee was instant with water from a boiler.
- Sandra (2/5): - Arrived early 2.15pm to be told I couldnt get into room until 3pm unless I paid £20 extra (thought that was a bit extreme ) decided to have a glass of wine whilst waiting then enquired about dinner in resturaunt to be told no chef and resturaunt closed . Nearest resturaunt 4mins drive . Could have told us about ni facilities before having an alcoholic drink . . Told me if breakfast was available at £15 per person ???
Not the best and will not return .😡
- Alfred James (8/5): - easy to get parked . Area was peaceful. rooms tidy .
food facilities were closed due to unforeseen circumstances but staff did point you in the direction for food in the area
- John (10/5): - Lovely little Hotel, very friendly, helpful staff. Excellent breakfast
- denise (6/5): - Clean, quiet room. Helpful staff.
- Victoria (6/5): - A lovely Scot building with basic health club facilities. The room is clean and newly renovated. An unpleasant smell of history on the ground floor near reception. However the jacuzzi was not opened and the chef called in sick without a cover, dinner options nearby limited.
- Chi Kit (8/5): Good room weak breakfast - Road trip visits to nearby Falkland Palace and Garden is very convenient. The room condition is good and comfortable. Check in staff is efficient and helpful.
Breakfast is a little disappointing, a bit too salty, and mushroom is out of stock!
- Brandy L (10/5): - LOVED: The hotel staff were very polite and helpful. The room was AWESOME! I loved the bed, soft and comfy, cozy! Nice size bathroom and very light and pretty. Huge closet and plenty of shelves. Room even had an in-room safe and a full size fan. I didn't use either one, but still unexpected. The view from my room was so nice out of big beautiful windows that could be opened! It overlooked the back of hotel and you could see the lovely rooftops and flowers and distant hills. So, gorgeous! The pool was a very nice size. They have a gym area that looked very nice with many machines. I didn't use that area though, I only used swimming pool and sauna which were very good. They have an on-site bar area and bakery items and a front sitting area, inside and out. All were very good.
Disappointed only with three things: One, their jacuzzi was not working. Two, I didn't realize my room was upstairs when I booked. They do not have ground floor rooms. Lastly, during my stay, there was no restaurant open in the hotel the entire week. Another guest said the chef had an accident and they didn't have anyone else to cover. The area is very rural, so no close restaurants much. I ate from SPAR mostly. lol Food delivery was an option that I was able to use a couple times, but it arrived cold, of course. If you have a car and not handicapped, possibly not as much of an issue, though. But I didn't and I am.
- Mhairi (4/5): - Altogether a bit weird. Sink area was claustrophobic. Door handle codes a bit awkward. Visible cables off putting. Evening staff helpful.
- Christopher (10/5): - This place was awesome and made my mom and I feel welcome on our first trip out of North America. The staff was great, in particular one girl who we believe was a manager. She went out of her way to make use feel welcome including giving us destination ideas, recommendations, and complimentary services at the hotel.
I would 10/10 come back to this place. You can tell it's old, but it was clean, safe, and quiet with fantastic service. Parking was hard sometimes but that's it!
- Shirley (6/5): - we were not told there was no food till we checked in had to drive to another town for food no other food places there room was clean enough staff friendly enough
- Piotr (10/5): - Staff friendly, hotel clean. We were there for only one night, so I'm not able to judge. I'll definitely come back to this place
- Jeesmon (8/5): - Enjoyed with family 3 nights and staffs are really good.
- Douglas (2/5): Find somewhere else! - A modern day version of Fawlty Towers.. a fiddly, unreliable electronic door locking system that refused to let me in. A shower that went from hot to cold minute by minute, a long dark hair on my bed (yuk), the restaurant was closed but no one bothered to let guests know in advance so they could make alternative arrangements as there is nowhere else to eat nearby.. a place run by idiots, best avoided!
- Sabrina (4/5): Not a nice place to stay. Very uncomfortable - Staffs were not friendly nor helpful. The guy at the reception was on the phone the whole time of the check in process. Room was super uncomfortable. It didn’t have cupboards for clothes. Swimming pool was close which was the main reason we booked it. They emailed me about the pool closer after I checked in already.
- Laura (6/5): Overall a good stay - The hotel is well appointed in the centre of a beautiful village community. The gym and health facilities were well used by the local community. There is a handy SPAR nearby.
The rooms are the typical size of an old coaching inn and we stayed in a recently renovated room which was more than adequate for our stay. The only slight grumble I have is that the water pressure in the shower was low and as a result it ran really hot to really cold. I did notify reception who did get back to me to say that it would be looked at and we could have access to another shower. Having read other reviews this does seem to be something that does crop up. We were impressed with the eco friendly notices/approach and the fact that our refreshments were generous and replenished throughout our stay. The wifi was reliable and the smart tvs with access to Netflix and BBC iplayer were very welcome after a day out exploring. The hotel is conveniently located. We didnt eat at the hotel and unfortunately could not use the pool and jacuzzi during our stay due to routine works. We would have liked to. We were offered to reschedule our dates but we could not move them due to work/school commitments. A thanks to the fab housekeeping team.
- Matthew (8/5): - Very friendly staff who were great. Facilities and general feeling of the hotel was a little dated.
- Verified traveler (6/5): Average - Description of original room on Hotels.com was nowhere near the room we were allocated so we complained and got relocated. Staff were very sympathetic and understanding.
Overall our stay was just above average. Comfy room and bed but windows with secondary glazing couldn’t open and walls are quite thin. En-suite was adequate.
Bear in mind, this is an old refurbished coaching inn so not purpose built. Dinner was very good and breakfast was cooked to order and adequate.
Sauna was available during our stay but pool was closed for maintenance which was particularly disappointing as we were only told this a couple of hours before check-in.
- Erik (2/5): - Our stay was not the best here. The bedding & laundry was stained. If we hadn't been so late arriving we would have left. We were kept awake until 4am by guest partying outside our room with really loud music and voices. There was a strong smell of cannabis being smoked outside the window of room 17 where Lewis was staying. Lewis was running the Edinburgh half marathon on Sunday.
- Elaine (8/5): - Good to receive a call before arrival that the pool was closed, disappointing but good service to let us know. Strange room keys with no explanation. Room was nice, bed was comfortable and shower had good water pressure.
- Shobhit (2/5): - Inconvenient to take the luggage up two floors without the lift working and all of a sudden I was told in the afternoon that swimming pool is not working. I had a 5 year old with me who was looking forward to swim and use the pool.
- Dr Mukul (10/5): - Great staff and beautiful location.
Housekeeping was excellent
- Verified traveler (4/5): Review of stay at Lomond Hills hotel Freuchie - Food options limited. No dinner on mondays and tuesday which we were not informed about. Food options were too expensive for guests staying at this hotel.
Pool had dangerous broken tiles. Hot tub broken for entire stay (chose this particular hotel for this amenity) which again we were not informed about.
Shower was terrible for temperature control and pressure.
Bed was comfortable, but curtains let in too much light.
Dead bugs found in room corners.
Some staff were unfriendly and unwelcoming.
Room had an awful vomit like smell coming from the curtain.
Bedside lamp didnt work.
Lack of communication between housekeeping and reception staff, as we requested extra bedding and it was taken away multiple times.
Womens pool changing rooms lacked privacy.
- Jordan (2/5): Dont expect anything fancy! - Its a run down hotel, the leisure facilities are outdated and smell like sweaty feet. The swimming pool was tiny and the only thing ill give the whole place credit for is the sauna as the sauna was nice and hot and quiet because nobody wants to use those facilities. My shower did not work in my room so could'nt even have a shower in the morning which apart from a good nights sleep is the only thing you definitely dont want to go wrong. Went to check out in the morning & stood at reception waiting a long time for someone to appear. It just seems like an old pub or something thats had a lot of rooms crammed into it. They dont want to spend any money on it which is obvious to see. Paid £90 for 1 night aswell which is way to pricey for this hotel.
- Christo (6/5): - It is normal or below average experiance
- Shirley (6/5): - Awful digital door system—- couldn’t get into room. Uncared for appearance throughout hotel. Walls in public area scuffed and needed painting. Dirty looking carpets. Limited choice of wine and drinks. Bed was comfortable and staff were pleasant but there didn’t appear to be anyone in charge. Would not stay again
- Andries (10/5): Family stay - Bedding was great , beds were comfy , swimming pool was awesome
- Thomas (10/5): - We had lovely time exploring nerby places and lovely stay , beds are super comfortable, and we enjoyed the pool and Sauna. Staff are very friendly and helpful.
Thank you fir having us
- Harry (10/5): - The Staff were so Friendly! Our top floor bedroom was great for our family
- Alfred James (6/5): - all good shame the evening meals weren’t available but they did recommend a good restaurant 💰
- Felix (10/5): A night away - Sunday - Hotel was nice, food in the restaurant was 10/10 and the bar was cheap.
Pool & Sauna was good, room was nice and pretty modern, clean and TV had netflix, YouTube etc
- Steven (10/5): - Great people! Bartender was such a sweetheart!
- Kimberly (10/5): - It was nice. Didn’t have any issues. It just wasn’t what I expected.
I arrived early and was accommodated by the gentleman on the front desk. I also needed some assistance with an issue that was not the responsibility of the hotel and the gentleman solved the issue for me. So it was a GREAT stay. It just wasn’t what I expected and that’s ok.
- Thayalan (8/5): - Great experience. Enjoyed our stay.
- Findlay (10/5): 1 night stay - Nice village. Nice staff
- Candice (8/5): Would stay again. - We had an excellent stay! Very friendly and helpful staff. Some things have been updated, others could stand to be. Reasonable prices. We enjoyed our short stay here, and would go back again.
- Mark (8/5): Nice stay - Nice cheap and cheerful hotel, room was lovely. Definitely stay again
- Verified traveler (6/5): Was ok, would not stay again though - Disappointed as you get into downstairs lobby which has very uncomfortable old arm chairs and tables. Jacuzzi was not working. Provided with a travel cot which only had the hardboard and no mattress for our baby. You have to keep waiting for receptionist to let you into the facilities area which is just outside main hotel area. Had to ask for extra towel and duvet several times. Breakfast was a bit disappointing with ok cooked breakfast and no yogurt or proper fruits or pastries. You have to pay for bean coffee but instant coffee included in breakfast price.
Nice points- fisher and Donaldson pastries but slim picking when we arrived. room was good size and clean, refurbishment on our door was being completed as we entered the room. Pool, sauna and gym were small but nice. Staff very accomodating and allowed us to eat in upstairs lounge where we could get signal from our room on the baby monitor. Dinner was very tasty. But same bar food everyday and hence only ate at hotel one night. Spar just opposite where you can get most things.
- Derek (10/5): Outstanding bunch of characters - From start to finish truly exceptional all the staff a massive thank you for all your efforts never have I ever come across a group so bonded you were polite helpful and also funny which we admired all week, again a massive thank you to all of you, we will be back
- James (8/5): - Staff were very friendly and helpful with taxi bookings to and from the wedding venue
- Kathryn (6/5): - Got back to the hotel late (after a wedding) found we were locked out rang the hotel no answer they rang back but it took them too long to send a code so my husband found an open window and climbed through and then opened the doors from the inside
- Alfred James (6/5): - was all ok handy place to stay for an over night stay
- Will (6/5): Nice staff but not very luxurious - Not quite as swanky as it might appear in the photos but the staff were lovely. Pool is very small and crowded but the sauna was nice. Hot tub was sealed off. Breakfast very basic. No yoghurt or muesli and instant coffee.
- jovanne (8/5): Shabby chic - Day trip with friends. Property is old but well maintained. Staff are very nice and helpful.
- Andrew (10/5): - Friendly and helpful staff. Alan and co. Are a great team
- Christopher (8/5): - Very nice place, staff were top notch.. just a few renovations needed for the room we lodged in
- Jim (10/5): SCountry - Lovely little hotel, nice room and great staff
- Graeme (10/5): - The staff at Lomond Hills are exceptional. Very friendly and attentive but also relaxed with it.
- Alisha (8/5): - Great little place. Definitely out of the way, but only a short taxi ride into Glenrothes, where you can catch a bus to anywhere. Freuchie was an absolutely beautiful place, worth the visit.
- Thomas W (8/5): - Beautiful setting; well kept hotel & friendly staff. Cakes were lovely and food in the restaurant quite good.
- Remi (10/5): - Great facilities, location and room. Staff were helpful and restaurant was also good.
- JANET (8/5): - Quite a nice single room but I could not get standard BBC and ITV channels on the television. Also, I had to go to reception in order to get a password to get the television to work. That information with instructions should have been in the room. Also, the high-tech room key was not straight forward to use.
- Claire (10/5): - I never leave reviews but i have to this time.
We were very warmly greeted when we arrived. Our room was fab. A proper bedroom feel instead of the generic hotel feel. The beds were soo comfy!! The room as warm with everything we needed.
We used the leisure facilities and were very impressed. Ghd straightners and hairdriers in the changing rooms was a brilliant addition. Everything was clean and fresh.
Breakfast was very good and we were served by a lovely, smiley waitress.
Big shout out to the receptionist on duty ALL WEEKEND! Nothing was a bother and she was a star.
We hope to revisit next year when we're down racing!
- Stephen (10/5): - Great stay
- Billy (10/5): - Amazing. The staff went above and beyond. Big shout out especially to Maria and Emma. Thank you so much for the hospitality. I will be back again for sure. Thank you.
- Billy (10/5): - Amazing service. The manager and assistant manager really helped me out and are a credit.,
- Susan (10/5): Good Value, comfortable and lovely staff - My sister and I stayed here on the last day of a trip to Scotland. The hotel was at the end of being refurbished and was very clean with newly decorated rooms. Very comfortable and a good breakfast was served. We also ate evening meal here as there is nothing else within walking distance. There was not a huge choice but our fish and chips was good. Good value and all the staff were very friendly.
- Ali (10/5): - All staff members were kind and helpful
- John (8/5): - If you want to go for walks and visits to Fife in a quiet area this is ideal. Hotel is having some refurbishment completed but this was carried out whilst we were out hiking and site seeing. Ate in for evening meals and had Loch lomond breakfasts before venturing out, all prepared and if your like me - don't mind the laid back ambience enjoy the the lovely meals. Once back from your long day, only fault was the lack of water pressure in shower and intermittent freezing of TV channels. Lovely staff and made my porridge the way I like it - good old Scottish way with Salt.
- Salvador C (10/5): - Great stay, the staff was extremely helpful and polite! The bed was comfortable, and
- Stella (10/5): - First time taking my 13 yr old twins for a girls night(s) away. Booked a king size room. Hotel rang and offered to put an extra bed in.
- Miriam (8/5): - Good facilities in the room. The food was great - especially the porridge with honey soaked sultanas. Some staff seemed inexperienced, but all very friendly. Bit disappointed I'd asked in advance if there were any parties booked that night as I needed a good nights sleep and was told there weren't. In the end there was a huge party with people shouting as they got in taxis late at night - but it wasn't terrible. And great that the jacuzzi was open until 10pm. Overall great value, location and facilities.
- Dawn (6/5): - Nice clean room, No 10, but small , Only 1 bedside cabinet, so no where to have a cuppa together , one chair at table ,one bedside lamp, . Everything shuts at 10pm doors locked, would be good to get adviced that there is a key pad entry after 10pm, and that the bar is shut. But had a nice time, staff are nice and friendly
- Pauline (10/5): Chill time with friends - Hotel is lovely staff very friendly and accommodating. Food good portions and reasonablely priced. Room was clean and well ventilated in the hot weather. Leisure facilities good although jacuzzi could do with an upgrade but overall this was a very pleasant relaxing overnight stay. Would definitely come back
- Terence (10/5): - It was a lovely location within striking distance of Edinburgh the hotel had a health club and swimming pool
The staff were freindly with local knowledge
- Kristina (10/5): - We had a lovely overnight stay at Lomond Hills Hotel. We stayed in the family room which was perfect for us (2 adults and 3 children). The room was nicely decorated, clean and the Netflix on the TV was a nice bonus. We used the pool, which the kids loved and the food in the hotel was tasty and reasonably priced. The hotel is located in a lovely little village, with a local shops which is handy to have too. Staff were welcoming and friendly. I'd recommend the hotel for a stay, and it's in a great location for a stop off if travelling elsewhere in Scotland.
- Jonathan (10/5): - Recent re-opened. Very friendly and helpful staff; rooms nicely refurbished. Great food and good value overall.
- Robert (6/5): Not disabled friendly - All bedrooms are on the 1st floor. With no lifts. This is not mentioned anywhere on the listing or website. My father is 87 with mobility issues and climbing thw stairs and the long walk along the corridor was a nightmare.
- Maxime (10/5): - Bed was very confortable, room was nice.
- Craig (8/5): - Room was near a common area and has Germans kids playing games at 10.30 pm had to phone the reception twice to get the noise to stop.
- Morna (10/5): - Excellent stay here we all enjoyed the pool sauna and jacuzzi so relaxing room was perfect and spotless breakfast was amazing and staff superb can’t wait to enjoy another stay here in the future.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Fantastic hotel - So friendly relaxed and very homely. Very clean and staff were amazing down to earth and helpful. Will definitely be back
- Louise (10/5): - Great little spot for a quiet night away, as it’s the start of the season there was evidently still work going on around the hotel, however still very quiet. The staff couldn’t have been anymore helpful if they tried, very laid back and friendly. Great value for money. The heated swimming pool, jacuzzi and sauna are great. Local shop across the road sells most things. We did have to order a takeaway in the evening, however staff provided plates ect to eat it. As far as I gather they are working on having lunch and evening meals in the near future. They do have a bakery stand that has pies & cakes ect in the bar area which I seen freshly delivered in the morning. The breakfast was made to order & they had a menu with a variety of hot foods eg. Bacon, tattie scone, haggis, veggie breakfasts, kids breakfast, cereals & eggs cooks how you like. We where pleasantly surprised instead of the usual continental as stated on booking. Quality ingredients. Would definitely visit again.
- Pratik (10/5): - Good value for money. Friendly staff and good swiming pool.
- Helen (8/5): Two night stay - Comfortable and clean room, staff friendly and helpful. I’d definitely go back 😊
- Stephen (10/5): Definitely be back - Hotel has recently re-opened and clearly still plenty of work to do around the place but room was excellent and staff superb. Gym has all you need for an overnight stay. I will definitely be back. Thank you for a lovely stay.
- Joanne (6/5): - Nice pool and gym. Nice room but the hotelis run separately to the pub and no food is available. We ended up eating takeaway twice in our room. Not ideal.
- Isobel (10/5): - We had an amazing break initially going just to relax and enjoy some jacuzzi pool time but instead from the first minute finding a welcoming professional but family feel. The room was spotless and welcoming all newly refurbished only one thing I’d ask for was a couple of shelf’s up to put clothes on otherwise nothing else was missed. Other half who is a clean freak was really impressed especially by how clean the mirrors were not one streak on them something that is nothing to others but made his dayx the pool was lovely and just perfect the spa amazing and relaxing the sauna was offt roasting (the point I believe) all again spotless I waved to the gym on the way past 😂 looked good had few people working away in it. The bar was spotless plenty of seating for everyone comfy seats included an amazing display of cakes and pies xx down to how closely the owners and staff of the bar kitchen and event/function suit are working hard together to get everything up and running was amazing the passion in everyone involved was amazing unfortunately the kitchen wasn’t open for hot food as yet they are working really hard to have it opened for this Sunday (Mothers Day) which we are hoping to return to support and enjoy with them we also are hoping to have a weekend a month break. A friendly place with so much to come watch this space. Can’t wish them enough good luck that they deserve
- Jean (8/5): A bit disappointing - I ws disappointed when I arrived as the restaurant was not open, and restaurants in nearby villages were not open on a Monday night. At least I got a sandwich in the local SPAR.
The room was comforatble enough but was quite small but was clean.
I was booked for two nights but decided to move somewhere else for the second night that had a restaurant that was open.
- Norrie (10/5): - Lovely hotel and staff..
- Dilan (10/5): - Stay was amazing and comfortable. Will definitely recommend.
- Malcolm (10/5): Hotel in Freuchie - We were visiting my daughter in Freuchie and stayed in this hotel.
It is a charming hotel with very comfortable and clean rooms.
Staff were very friendly and went out of their way to help me including organising a taxi.
The restaurant is not up and running yet but you can get a lovely continental breakfast and tea/coffee and lovely fresh cakes,
We will definitely be returning to this hotel next time we visit Greuchie.
- Donald (8/5): - Amazing staff and hotel ..only been open 3 weeks only problem is pipes an radiators at night making a hell ov a noise so we are knackerd kept us upp ..appart from that like i said lovely staff lovely room an health club
- Colin (6/5): - The big bed.
- Kiera-Louise (10/5): Lovely hotel with great facilities. - Recently opened hotel but clearly experienced owners. The room was newly renovated including a lovely bathroom, shower and bed. Great facilities in the hotel with a fully equipped gym and pool. (Good opening times too)
Large tv in the room with Netflix signed in was brilliant, why can’t all hotels do this!
Lovely staff and service.
