Guest Reviews
- Attila (6/5): - Comfy chaotic capsule
- rafi (8/5): - Very nice sleeping spot in the middle of London, couple of steps to Piccadilly Circus. Comfortable sleeping, clean common areas like toilets/showers. Worth to money. Don't look around you can not find such a place for this kind of accommodation range. Ideal for short trips. I'll not look any other options when I'm in London next time.
- George (8/5): - 1st time staying in a capsule type accommodation. Ample room but if you’re claustrophobic it can be a tad daunting, especially if you roll down the front cover. The showers and toilet area could be cleaner, and it had a bad stench, but considering its communal, it wasn’t that bad. For the budget price of 45 pounds you definitely get what you pay for. It’s great for backpackers and younger travelers.
- Paul (2/5): - The hotel looked like it was still under construction. False advertising, pictures shown on the website of the capsules were nothing like what were in the hotel. Check in was terrible, I checked in. Allocated a capsule , went to the capsule, it had a lock on it. Didn’t bother staying I left straight away. I appreciate it is low budget accommodation. But you should show what it is really like.
- Muzaher-ul (10/5): - Exactly what I needed. No frills, did the job and I slept beautifully
- Alejandro (10/5): - Amazing
- Barry (8/5): - Cocoon pods are probably not for anybody who is claustrophobic. But overall I thought it represented very good value. I believe there are female only corridors. However, I felt it would be appropriate if there were also male only corridors. Everybody is in close proximity to each other and I was a bit uncomfortable sharing a space with female travellers that I did not know
- Martin (8/5): - We stay would have been ideal if it wasn't for the constant sound of the door slamming.
- Christopher (10/5): - Impressed by the quality and standard.
- Erin (10/5): - Can’t beat the location - right in the heart of Picadilly Circus, and the price is the best you’ll get in London. Sleeping areas are clean and quiet, bathroom and shower facilities are well maintained, and the pod was surprisingly comfortable and easy to move around in.
- TARA (8/5): - In the center of london which is great
- ELAINE (10/5): - Really comfortable pod, very clean but the corridors needed to be swept more frequently - all the other areas were great - would definitely go back and the location was fantastic
- Tristan (10/5): - Great fun place to stay for someone looking for a place to stay for a few nights.
- Davide (8/5): - They should invest in bathroom brushes inside the toilets.
- Sherjane (10/5): - The cocoon is so comfortable.
- ME (6/5): - Clean, fun, xheap and well loated, but noisy - slamming doors shook the capsule every few minutes as people entered and exited the dorm. This spoiled what was otherwise a good set up.
- Deborah (10/5): It's a hostel not a hotel - Clean capsule, comfortable bed, toilet and shower area clean also
A great place to stay in the heart of London
- Lori (10/5): Great idea for a hotel! - Centrally located within walking distance to almost everything! Picadilly Circus tube entrance is about 50 steps away! It was my first time staying in a hostel and capsule. The capsules are pretty sound proof especially with the fan running to circulate air. All the guests staying were respectful and quiet in the capsule areas. Those that wanted to visit went to the end of the room to talk quietly. No one messed with anyone's things. I felt safe and my items secure at all times. The big suitcases were left at the end of the room. During the day, I just put my small suitcase on my bed and pulled the door down. Very few used locks on their doors. I always took my credit card and passport with me for the day. The bed was comfortable and warm. You're given a big fluffy towel to use. I suggest bringing a small hand towel. It was annoying to carry a big bulky towel if I just wanted to wash my face or brush my teeth. Bring flip flops for bathrooms. The showers we're nice and warm but I agree with the biggest complaint of the push buttons to get water. The water runs for only 10 seconds and you have to push the button again. The problem was the button was constantly getting stuck. Everyday I walked into the bathroom and a shower button was stuck on and flooding a third of the bathroom! There needs to be a regular handle on the showers. I also suggest a curtain to block water from hitting the bench and wetting your dry clothes while you shower. And fix the elevator! Only 1 worked!
- Paul (2/5): - Cheap, but you get what you pay for I suppose. Uncomfortable and noisey.
- Victoria (8/5): - Really good stay, good location
- Michelle (6/5): - Capsules not much head room even for a shorty like me. Managed to change to an accesible capsule thanks to the helpful staff. Upset that i paid for late checkout but was disturbed by someone ne knocking at 1015 and then at 1145 sometime opened the door of my my capsule. The apology I received from reception staff seemed insincere.
- John (10/5): - Clean capsule, if a little small.Excellent location and first class value.
Only downside was one lift wasn’t working and there was nowhere to. Get water either boiling for tea or cold for water bottles.
- Tayo (10/5): - 6ftoot 1 and I found it comfortable
- Chyanne (8/5): - Clean rooms and friendly staff.
- Stylianos (10/5): - Great value for money especially if you book in advance, central location, relevant clean premises
- Mychel (10/5): - Wonderful staff, putting our safety first. Beautifully clean with wonderful bed linen. Comfortable pillow & perfect duvet. Filtered air, free WiFi & charging points in each capsule. Dimmable lighting. Best location ever! Endless eateries. Top class shopping. Fortnum & Mason, Royal Academy of Arts, Brasserie Zedel, Londons Theatre land, cinemas, sightseeing, clubs & world renowned sights & tourist attractions. 1 minute walk to Piccadilly Circus Underground with Piccadilly Line, Bakerloo Line. 5 minutes walk to Leicester Sq Underground, with Northern Line, Piccadilly Line 15 minutes to Tottenham Court Road tube Station, with Central, Northern & Elizabeth Line.
- Patricia (8/5): - Good, but bit of noise from 6am.
- Clarissa (10/5): - You get a capsule room in the heart of Piccadilly. Can’t ask for more. My little capsule was clean, cozy and I had the best sleep. The washroom facilities could use some work. By the early part of the evening, all the toilet paper in the stalls was out, and the toilets started to smell - think of a port-o-potty at an outdoor music festival. The showers work on a push function, and give you about 30 seconds of pressurized warm water. So it conserves water by running for 30 seconds, and then you have to push the button to get it to start again.
Check in is easy - I got there about two hours too early so I paid 10GBP to check in early. They charge 15GBP to hold your bags so, no brainer. As I was leaving I discovered that there was a suitcase room you could leave your bigger bags in. Good to know for next time. I stashed my carry on on top of my bed when I left, and used a small padlock to lock my (garage) door.
This is great if you are travelling alone - even better, you can request the female floor if you prefer that. I definitely recommend this for short solo stays. Comfortable and clean capsules, use the bathrooms mid-day after they are cleaned and you are set.
- Olumakinwa (6/5): - I like the quick response of fixing faults and the way the bathroom 🚻 and toilets are well maintained
- Lysa (2/5): Walked in - and walked straight out! - The building is of very poor upkeep. The smell of weed from the moment I walked in was over powering. After a less than underwhelming check in experience - once I saw the layout of the dormitory and the capsule - I walked straight out and booked another room for the night.
- Katie (6/5): - In a great location with an incredible cost which was main reason for booking. Difficult to find, very easy to find the hotel as well signposted but it is not in the same location but is near by.
Use maps to find the Lindt store as its opposite.
Pod was nice and clean, only one pillow though but towel was provided. They are definitely not sound proof and had neighbour speaking loudly on phone to early hours of the morning, I had noise cancelling headphones which I used once ready for sleep, I think these are a necessity with the poor sound proofing. The fan in the pod didn’t do a lot and was warm in the mornings, be wary in summer. There is also lights on a dimmer switch, a USB, USB-C and a 1 plug socket in the pod. Bring a gym size padlock as you can lock your pod shut.
The facilities are basic, shower you have to press and hold, all cubicles some next to toilets. There are places to get ready in bathrooms including plug sockets for hair dryers and such. The entire building felt like it was under construction, with staircases warning of building site. The corridors with the pods were well kept but the lifts and stairs were poor.
All in all it is very much you get what you pay for, just wish it wasn’t marketed as sound proof.
- Simon (4/5): - The Hostel, was not finished and still a building site. Capsules are way to warm as the fans dont work. Smoke alarms go off as the temperature in capsule is to warm. Very noisy. Showers were dirty and to small. Signage not clear at alll and difficult to find roons
- Sultan (10/5): - For the price of a high-end fish and chips you get to stay right at the piccadilly circus. This is my first night in a capsule hotel, but I did not feel claustrophobic. You share the space with many other travelers, this may require some getting used to. But it is, in my opinion, better than a hostel bed for similar prices. You get your own private bed at least. The wi-fi works great. Bathrooms are clean. The only thing is I did not see a way to control the temperature, so it got pretty hot inside the capsule. I will not stay in a shared-room hostel ever, but a capsule for sure, if I ever needed just a quick overnigher.
- David (10/5): - A little confusing to find but watch the YouTube reviews first and it's easy. Brilliant service. Easy to use and check in and out.
I am an older guest (66) but if you are agile it is perfect for an overnight stay or maybe a 2 or 3 days.
The staff were curtious and helpful.
All the facilities were very clean.
No Ritz but not that price 😊 and great location for the Theatre Land of London
E. T. C.
Tip.
Take a photo of your room number and capsule as can be a little confusing at first. Take a padlock to lock the capsule when away from the capsule .
+
Great location. Friendly staff. Security.
Clean WC's and Showers.
-
Little space and area to leave shoes and a bag when in the pod /capsules .
Better hooks in the WC and Showers.
Can be a little warm as air conditioning does have little effect.
Exit signs could be clearer.
Dave
- Vinod (2/5): - Very narrow to get up in to cubicle, smashed my shin, then found a sharp pin left in the bedding. No lock on capsule when leaving bag there.
At least the bed was comfortable!
- Ben (4/5): You get what you pay for. - The check in system would be easier if they gave you some sort of receipt to remember your name. The toilets were dirty. My capsule felt like being in a morgue apart from the fact that it was loud and hadn't been cleaned. Checkout took too long.
Staff were friendly and helpful though.
- Robert (10/5): - Bathrooms and pods were clean, and great central location.
- Walmar (8/5): - With works still.going on it is a bit messy though all well with the set-ups & lifts too slow - beautiful location well priced - ideal for London visit - thank you!!
- MONICA (6/5): - There was dirt under the bed, the bathroom was not very clean, and the sink was blocked with standing water. The whole place feels like it is under construction, the stairs are confusing and not clearly signposted, and one of the lifts was out of order, which caused long queues to go up and down.
- Christine (10/5): Excellent value, clean and comfortable. - This was the first time that I have stayed in Zedwell, I couldn't fault it, comfortable and clean. Slightly claustrophobic to start with but I soon got used to it. Good value and central to what I was dong in London.
- Ermelinda (6/5): - Staff were very friendly and helpful. Toilet /shower cubicles and floors in general could do with more regular mopping
- Clare (10/5): Great first time stay - The capsule was roomier than i thought it would be with hooks for hanging clothes, a ledge for stashing a book, phone etc and enough space for shoes and small bags. I could sit upright inside and there was plenty of room. The dorm was quiet and well maintained, it didn't feel busy or crowded. The shared bathrooms were also well maintained and clean with plenty of soap and loo roll etc. Again never busy, always plenty of free showers which had lovely hot water and a useful dry section to the cubicle for getting dressed. Overall for the price in central london a great option
- alastair (8/5): Great hostel - yes! Great Hotel…..erm. - So, let’s start with the cost….and it’s peanuts, £20 for a night, so what do you expect?
Well, what you shouldn’t expect is a hotel, because it really is not. What it is, is a slick operation in human overnight storage - and it works well. The capsules themselves are clean and cozy, people are respectful and keep the noise down in the corridors, however if you are on the lower level pod (it’s literally on the floor) you will hear everything from the one or two above. The bathrooms do leave a fair bit to be desired, but it’s a hostel and if you want a long soak in a bath, or a steaming shower then you aren’t going to get it for £20. One could tell that the vast majority were international travellers who were probably used to this kind of thing as they had their own toilet roll and hung their towels on their trolley cases. Security is weird, I felt totally safe in the pod (it’s lockable from the inside) but you need to take a padlock if you leave - having said that, there are security cameras everywhere and key cards for specific sections, so I just pulled down my garage door and threw caution to the wind - and of course everything was fine. I think it’s a great idea, and for the price I would be tempted again, if only the bathrooms were just a touch cleaner.
- Adam (10/5): - Great space for a quick one night turnaround or for backpacking. On the doorstep to picadilly circus. Beds are nice, comfy and clean. Could potentially do with some air conditioning/fan in the pods as it currently just has an extractor and it became quite hot inside - imagine it would be pretty dreadful in peak summer.
- Stephanie (8/5): - Overall it actually wasn't as bad as reviews were saying. First off, having a lock is most likely mandatory if you want to store your luggage within the pod as it does not have any storage space outside of it. I backpacked, and the handles on the side were a perfect place to store it at night and during the day. The fan worked fine, and it wasn't too warm otherwise. Best suggestion is if you get too toasty, bring an extra fan as there is lots of plug space. Bring some water too as the water while under construction shouldn't be drunk. The shower space was actually not bad AT ALL. People saying it's hard for bigger people must have luxury showers, because being a plus person, I had lots of space to move and not feel crammed in. Yes, the spray is not adjustable (suggest a plastic tote bag to store items to keep dry), and the water may adjust automatically to cool, warm, hot and back- but its not scalding hot like some other hostels I've been to. The elevators were a gem, and directions were easy. People who were in the other pods were very friendly and while it may not seem people can get to know one another, it actually isn't hard- you just need to speak up and say HI. We spent five nights here and it was out of my entire trip the better hostel I had spent in and would come back again. Bathrooms were constantly cleaned, though I would say visitors- seriously clean up after yourself and stop spitting in the showers or leaving your chin shavings on the sinks. LOL
- Liam (10/5): - It’s very basic, but I was pleasantly surprised. Bed was comfy. Easy check-in. I didn’t use the showers but they looked clean. Main downside is that the pods get incredibly hot and sweaty, even with the fan turned on.
- Paul (2/5): The negatives outway the positives - Left early. Didn't stay the full night due to the heat.
Positives:
1. Affordable, at only £20 per night (September).
2. Great location, near Piccadilly Circus.
Negatives:
1. Not "fairly soundproofed" other guests & construction noise.
2. No luggage lockers on-site.
3. Capsule doors do not lock unless you bring your own padlock or buy one from them.
4. Capsule latches are faffy.
5. Poor air conditioning. My capsule easily overheated and become stuffy, and the ventilation is totally insufficient to bring down temperatures. There are also no temperature controls.
6. Bathrooms, the shower water goes everywhere except on your body. I ended up using my gym which was nearby. If you have PureGym membership - use it!
7. They do not respond to messages or from their WhatsApp number.
8. The lifts are not adequate for the amount of people using them.
9. Directions to the entrance is poor.
10. Directions from check-in to where the rooms are was poor.
I think that capsule hotel is a great concept and seemed fun at the time but here, the negatives are more than the positives.
- Kian (4/5): Hostel with extra steps..... - Pro: it had a bed
Cons: was not sound proof, loud, Aircon was awful, got bitten by bed bugs, smelt of weed (each to their own).
- Kelly (8/5): - Love the hostel, the capsules are amazing, they have everything you need and are spacious enough. The mattress was really comfortable too.
The only thing that let the hostel down was the cleanliness of the bathrooms. I arrived late evening to find manu of the toilets were dirty and without toilet roll. Sinks and shower cubicles could also have been cleaner. Perhaps they should be curdled more often
- Ciaran (4/5): Claustrophobic - Not for the faint hearted! The aircon is the opposite of silent it’s like sleeping with a hoover a foot in front of your face! Can’t turn it off though as you feel like you can’t breathe and no windows either.
No security or ability to lock yourself in properly. Soundproofing is a joke and feels very stifling and claustrophobic.
Plus point cheap like the budgie especially for central London! Will not be going back.
- Gordon (6/5): Mystay - Broken door lock
- Vaibhav (2/5): - The property is not maintaining its hygiene levels. I booked it for 3 nights, the first night I felt there was lot of dust particles, I informed the reception they denied, morning I requested to change the beddings, they said it happens only after 4 nights booking. I was shocked. Spent few hours and checked out, checked for refund, they said no such policy, they asked me why you checking out early, I said I care about my health.
- Tamsin (6/5): - For the price paid it was perfectly adequate. I felt safe. It would have been useful to have been told to bring a padlock to secure the capsule. The bathrooms could have been better. Leaving a wet towel in a closed pod all day is not ideal. On a positive note the staff were excellent, very helpful. The location was incredibly convenient. I have learned the things that need to be packed to make this experience more comfortable in the future. I tried to extend my stay by the prices were incredibly inflated on the weekends, it was worth the £30 but not the £70 per night quoted as I tried to rebook.
- Amanda (10/5): - Excellent location in the middle of the city if you just need a place to sleep
- Corrie (6/5): Safe and clean - Never stayed in a capsule before so a bit shocked at size, but it was clean and I felt safe so all good.
- Daniel Jonathan (10/5): - Superb budget option for central london
- Lutrecia (10/5): Sojourner Goes International UK visit - I had a hard time finding the hotel due to my unfamiliarity with the address format. Google maps was worse. I finally went inside the Zedwell Hotel to ask directions. Their capsule hotel isstay. It was as described located in the building that's currently under renovation right in front of them. Look for the sign underneath the scaffolding. I was satisfied with my stay although it is somewhat like a maze. I needed help with the check-in and there was a very friendly and helpful young man that assisted me. My pod was the cutest, and it included fresh clean linen and a large towel. I was in an all female area. The shared bathroom was down the hall. The mattress was very comfortable. I could hear noises and bumps, and I used my earplugs. Downstairs in the reception area, besides a good amount of seating, I found a vending machines for supplies and toiletries and another for snacks and beverages. I was surprised that there were no table and chairs. It was just as described, great location, very walkable, shopping, dining and entertainment choices abound.
- Naqeeb (10/5): - Really enjoyed my stay here. The capsules were tidy and quiet, and Abilina was very friendly and made me feel welcome whenever I passed reception.
- Naqeeb (10/5): - My stay here was very comfortable. The capsules were clean, quiet, and felt private which was perfect for a few nights in London. Abilina at the front desk assisted me with check-in and made the process smooth and easy. She was welcoming and professional, which really set the tone for a positive stay.
- Hasan (10/5): - Loved it. Clean and modern and the bedding was 4* hotel quality. And dead silent even though it's right on Piccadilly Circus. Slept like a baby.
- Naqeeb (10/5): - The property is well maintained and feels very secure. Abilina was kind and helpful when I asked about nearby places to go, which made my stay more enjoyable.
- Techzen (10/5): - Thnaks for the accmdation
- Lohith (10/5): - Had a great stay
- Sally (10/5): - I was really surprised at how comfortable the capsule was. Had a great night's sleep. The shared bathroom facilities were okay - could have been cleaner around the trough sink areas. Staff were very accommodating on check in. Location was super. It's a good stopover for the Eurostar or that essential business that has to be done. I'd definitely stay again.
- Braulio (10/5): - I thought the experience was very unique and I think it’s a large leap forward. In the way we we travel and find places to stay. I personally have no need for an entire room all to myself and the capsule was a breath of fresh air to sleep in I think I spent Max 20 minutes other than to sleep right in the capsule area and the shower area overall was a great time and I appreciate a Z well pioneering with this concept and finding creative ways to bring people closer together. It’s a great way to network that’s for sure.
- Glenn (8/5): An unusual but great experience - The pods are super comfortable and the location couldn’t be more central for exploring the capital. Great price too.
- Paulo Sergio (10/5): - Clean room and it was very convenient having 24 hour staff
- Ozturk (8/5): - Piccadilly circus and center easy access
- Ian (8/5): - Nice, easy, mostly clean and in good condition. Definitely recommend if on a budget -nbetter than most hostels.
- Ben (6/5): - Check-in process was nice and easy albeit one minor issue which was resolved within seconds from the member of staff working there. The capsule was comfortable and clean as was the rest of the hostel.
What let it down on my occasion was that my capsule (bed 3144) was located opposite the door to the bathrooms meaning that I got woken up every time the door closed. This happened every few minutes throughout the night. I therefore had a really poor sleep. The capsule was also very hot which didn't help and there wasn't much airflow.
I believe I got unlucky this time and had it been positioned elsewhere then I would have slept fine. Would I stay here again? For the price and location yes I would stay here again.
- Dylan (10/5): - It was the best hostel it was relax make friends.
- Ben (6/5): Very dirty. Beds fine. Not safe for vulnerable ppl - Toilets and bathrooms were revolting. Building was horrific and honestly dangerous. Bed were fine. Poor air circulation and noisy.
It was fine. But I am a strong single male so felt safe enough. Do NOT stay if you are a female lone traveller or vulnerable person
- Justin (8/5): Not for large people! Take your own sturdy padlock - The Capsule dorms and toilet/shower facilities are clearly designed for skinnier smaller people than the average UK person. They seem to have taken the Japanese concept but not adjusted for height and weight differences in Europeans. Fortunately (?) I am smaller than average but only just.
The capsule itself was very comfortable and I wound up using the quilt as additional back/head support since I was comfortably warm without it.
Perfectly positioned USB A and USB C ports in the head rest, lighting area. Alongside the switch for the light and fan.
The fan is not whisper tech and might be considered noisy by some but I had earphones in and the flip switch was easy to turn off along with the lights when I wanted to sleep.
N.B. You have to provide your own padlock to secure the capsule when you go out. This was not advertised.
- Satveer (10/5): - Nice
- luke (8/5): - Cheap capsule hotel in central London a bit hard to find
- Chloé (8/5): Conforme à la descriptif - Idéalement située, ce trouve a une centainre de mètre du metro. Au plein coeurs de Picadilly
- Deepa (8/5): - Just what I needed for an overnight stay. The hotel was easy to find, really close to the underground station. Lots of places to eat nearby. Capsule was spacious, clean and comfortable. Bathroom area was clean. Would definitely stay again.
- Benjamin (6/5): - It’s convenient and cheap but it’s clearly still being finished off because if you choose to take the stairs down to the ground floor you’ll quickly find yourself in a maze of half-painted corridors with the occasional dangling electrical cable and under construction sign. That aside, it does the job and you get all the basics- power sockets, wifi, towel, soap, plenty of toilets and showers with shampoo and body wash. If the air con were at all quiet you wouldn’t know it was on for the lack of cooling it actually achieves. There’s no soundproofing so you will hear everyone else coming and going all night. The outside lock to the capsule takes some getting used to since it can be very stiff (push in and twist anti-clockwise to unlock, twist clockwise until it pops out to lock). I also found it doesn’t properly lock sometimes so you may have to repeat this process until it does. Oddly, the internal and external locking mechanisms are not one and the same so, in theory if someone were so inclined, they could lock you in. Also, lockers would be nice given the limited storage space in the pod itself. Overall, I’d say it gets the job done but you probably won’t get the best night’s sleep due to noise and temperature.
- Miss R (4/5): - I didn't need to use my key card
- Kerry (8/5): Comfy beds - Bed very comfortable, capsules easy to find as signs everywhere. Most people were quiet and respectful of others. Toilets and showers could do with cleaning more often.
- Matthew (10/5): Good Hostel - Clean and comfortable. Easy to check in and check out. Adjustable lighting within capsule. USB charging port for your phone within capsule. Plenty of showers, which were clean. My only dislike was the shower operation mechanism. It operates by pressing a button. These are normally timed, so that the shower stays on for several seconds after pressing, but this one shuts off the moment you let go. Otherwise, the water is nice and hot and the pressure is good.
- Michael (8/5): - Superbly located capsule hotel (not to be confused with the nearby Zedwell Hotel). Entrance is on Shaftesbury Avenue.
Each capsule consists of a comfy mattress, a dimmable light, a fan, UK plug socket, USB and USB-c ports, plus a privacy screen which can be locked from the inside and outside (using your own padlock or £3 to buy from reception (in August 2025)). A towel was provided free of charge and could be changed daily. Capsules are either on ground level, or up some stairs (not ideal, especially if you have mobility issues). The major problem with the capsules is that they’re incredibly warm (despite the fan). This can make them quite unpleasant! For a new property, it’s very disappointing the owners decided not to install air-conditioning in the dorms. This, plus the lack of a communal place to sit outside your capsule, is not ideal. Note that the lack of communal space means you shouldn’t stay here if you’re looking to meet and socialise with other travellers.
The shared bathrooms facilities are OK. The showers have a fixed head and no temperature control, just a push button to activate. Not ideal, but manageable. A real issue is a lack of hooks and shelving when using the sinks, it’s really inconvenient.
One concern is that, having stayed here twice since it opened, six weeks apart, I’m really disappointed to see how the condition of the shared bathroom facilities has deteriorated. Management need to address these issues.
- Melissa (6/5): - The hostel was cheap, especially for the location! The capsule was clean and had fresh bedding & towels provided. It had a dimming light which was good and also a fan. It also had a usb port,
USB c port and plug hole. I was mistaken in thinking this was inside the actual zedwell hotel but staff easily redirected me. The toilets were clean and always had toilet roll and soap which was good. The only disappointing parts were the stairs to the capsules, I was in the third top capsule and the stairs were like half stairs at each side and no handle rail to hold onto. I also woke up in the middle of the night to my shutter opened when I had shut it fully before sleeping. The staff were lovely at check in and throughout, I would definitely book again it is right beside Piccadilly underground.
- sulaimani (8/5): - Practical place for a low budget.
- Michael (10/5): - Superbly located capsule hotel.
Previously the Picadilly Hostel, now recently renovated into Zedwell Capsule Hotel - not to be confused with the co-owned Zedwell Hotel around the corner. At time of visiting, the branding hadn’t fully transitioned to Zedwell.
Capsules have comfy beds, a dimmable light, air-conditioning, USB and electrical socket and a privacy screen which can be locked from the inside and outside (using your own padlock). Capsules are either ground level, or up some stairs (which is not ideal).
Shared bathrooms and shower facilities are good and continually cleaned. The showers themselves have fixed heads which don’t provide a great experience, but they’re manageable. The real issue is a lack of hooks and shelving when using the sinks!
There are no lockers for storing your luggage in the dorms, but security seems good with cameras everywhere and you can always lock your luggage in your capsule when you’re out.
Note that at the time of visiting (July 2025), the communal space hadn’t yet opened. A towel was provided free of charge, and could be changed daily, which was excellent, but reception advised they may introduce a fee for these in the future - please don’t!
Management - please add more hooks and shelving in the dorms and the bathrooms!
Also, please make luggage storage before and after checkout free-of-charge, as if you begin charging, suddenly your pricing doesn’t look so reasonable.

- Sarah (10/5): - It was my first hostel and I was throughly impressed
- Dean (10/5): Great place to stay - No complaints
- Pedro Miguel (10/5): - Easy
- Nathan (8/5): - All around amazing location, would definitely book again
- Donatien (8/5): - The hotel is at the center of everything, so it's easy to walk to tourist spots.
It is also easily accessible via the transport network
- Verified traveler (4/5): Poor Locks - The locks at the capsule hostel just don’t work. Even if you have a hostel lock, if you twist hard enough the lock will unlatch. It makes it really hard to trust your things are safe. I could also not lock my capsule at night.
- kelly (6/5): - Area is perfect for central London and safe during the day but at night durning the summer was a little dangerous so be careful. There was a murder down the street and a friend of ours almost got robbed. The place is clean however the capsule has a gate door to open in close in your capsule that was a little hard to open so I decided not to stay there but I did check it to see if I could and I really not for me to stay in A capsule but it was clean and AC worked great. They had shower and toilet share with men and woman. They told me to leave my bag in-front of the door of my bed I thought there was a closet for bags but no they don’t.
- Dean (10/5): - Great place to stay
- Jack (2/5): - The minimalist “cocoon” concept of this place is interesting and the cost of staying here is significantly less than hotels. BUT the cocoon you sleep in isn’t much bigger than a coffin and the entire place is like a giant “Petri Dish”. They would have to go thru much more extensive cleaning and disinfecting their cocoons and restrooms to be safe … and even then, all it takes is one person with respiratory ailment or cold to spread it to scores of others. I NEVER get sick yet, after only one night there, the next day my nose started running and I was sneezing, coughing, and blowing my nose for a week. I had paid for 9 nights but only stayed 2 nights and went to a hotel to get air conditioning, sleep, & get better. I asked Zed for a refund of some of the nights I didn’t stay there but it was nonrefundable (so beware of that too.) Speaking of air conditioning, I got the impression Zedwell Cocoon was supposed to have separate air controls … in reality, it only had an on/off switch for a light and a fan that did not make it cooler. It was hot, humid, and sweaty in that Cocoon … you have to decide which is more important, leaving your Cocoon door open (hoping to get some cooler air but not feeling safe as you sleep) or close your door for safety and sweating (all while breathing in the germs from the last 10 people in that Cocoon & bathrooms). Conclusion is it was MISERABLE, I didn’t get any sleep either night, and I caught a nasty illness because I stayed there. Never again!
- Mike (10/5): - Got to the location early and was prepared to pay to have my luggage stored for a while but the nice gentleman at reception checked me in immediately which was really kind of him! And proceeded to talk on the purpose of my stay which was for work and he lent me a padlock for my pod, amazing experience from the beginning.
The pod was fantastic, very spacious and had a fan in there too
- Verified traveler (10/5): - it was very comfy and staff were polite.
- KA HO KEVIN (6/5): - Perfect location, but this place is actually call Piccadilly hostel at the building, not what we read on orbitz, besides that, they do provide a bath towel, not no towel on hotel info, the door of capsule do not lock unless you bring a lock, it woudl be more helpful if those info is included on booking.
Besides once a finish the online check in before arrival, I did drop some msg to the host/staff, none of them got reply, on that, it’s better to jus shut down that part or give us an email to reach the hotel.
- David (8/5): - Started out with a 3 day reservation and was comfortable enough to add on 7 more days. On site staff was friendly and the cleaning crew did a fine job of keeping the facilities clean. They could add a lot of value by adding a social room and coin-op laundry units.
- Paul (2/5): Cramped & Noisy - Awful experience. The photos/description didn’t prepare me for how Cramped & Noisy it was. Even at such a low price it’s not worth it.
