Guest Reviews
- Matthew (2/5): Crappy customer service and no AC - The ac was not working at 27.5 degrees c and they said they would not fix it or get us a different room. The hallway had fine working AC and was majorly cooler
- Sandra (10/5): - The apartment is located in a remodeled, attractive building near the COOP, shops, restaurants and within walking distance to the Zürich HB train station (however the neighborhood is very quiet).
The apartment decor is modern, bright , clean, and welcoming. The bed is super comfortable! The communication with the hosts was seamless: the directions for check in and check out were clear and all of our questions answered promptly. Zürich is as lovely city and staying at the City Pop 2night Zürich was a pleasure.
- Patricia (10/5): - Love the place brand new building
- Lisa (2/5): - Arrived after check in time and after filling out the lengthy online form.
The code we were given did not work to open the door. After trying for 20 minutes and waiting for a help chat response we gave up and went elsewhere
- Jan (10/5): - Fabulous room, near shops and bars.
- Shonn (8/5): - I was told the room would be ready at 15:00, but it was not ready for another hour, otherwise it was fine.
- Michael (8/5): - Good stay. Clean. Bead was not super comfortable and the room was too warm, but overall the price/benefit was worthwhile
- Jennifer (8/5): - Walkable to the train station. Good size bathroom. Easy check in considering there isn’t a reception desk.
- maria (10/5): - Wonderful stay
- John (6/5): - The property is good. I stayed in two different rooms within the same week. One room had pillows that smelled terribly of sweat (so bad I had to put one of clean t-shirts around the pillow to hide the smell--it was the actual pillow, not the pillow case). Otherwise, I liked the hotel. The only consideration is that bc they don't have anyone available in-person, it can be difficult to address anything that comes up during the stay (e.g. early check-in or like the issue with the pillows).
- Christopher (10/5): - Wonderful experience
- Simon (10/5): - Nice place for the night we stayed. I appreciated that although it’s run mainly by AI, you still get a quick response through WhatsApp from the company with any questions. I do think it’s pricey for having no actual front desk staff (we paid $234 for one night), but still, bed was super comfy. In fact, I had some of the best sleep I’ve ever had in a very long time.
- Charlotte (10/5): Great stay - Good location. Clean rooms and comfortable. Easy to self check in.
- Calvin (2/5): - Room smelled of sewage and no inperson staff to assist. We were then moved to a room with no blankets and had to move our luggage ourselves up a floor by hand. We then were locked out of the room multiple times when they tried to get us a blanket by having us go back and forth from our old room due to their security system. The entire process took several hours and no compensation was offered. Our email was ignored by management.
- Mary (10/5): - Clean and spacious room, walkable to the train station and a lot dining options
- David (6/5): - The place is clean and great if you are on a budget. The rooms are a good size, same with the bathroom. Everything is simple but clean and efficient. However no personnel other than the cleaners on site (they are super nice though), so no one can really help you with issues or being locked out, or codes not working. It does get loud at night due to nearby bars and restaurants but for the price you pay that's what you get. Again, it's clean and workable, even has a fridge and dishes.
- Sasha (10/5): - This property was perfectly located close to a bus stop which allowed easy transportation to destinations and train station. The rooms were nice and very affordable. Although there is no staff to speak to in person, they were very responsive to messages sent in the chat function online.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Recommend! - Really enjoyed our stay. Very easy check in/out process. Stayed twice here already and will stay again! Awesome.
- Jorge (10/5): - Good place!
- Devon (10/5): - The property was close to the train station, a grocery store right next door. Room and bathroom were spacious for Europe. Communication for self check-in was excellent.
- Maria Purificacion (10/5): - Nice modern room, clean and awesome.
- MARYAN (8/5): - Everything was good but the communication was nul, there is no fast response.
- Jonathan (8/5): - The hotel was nice, clean, and well located. However, I had a few issues: a baby-bed was placed in the room when I checked in. The room is quite small, so it was taking a lot of place in the way, which was annoying. I called the reception to have it removed, I’ve been told it would be done « as soon as possible », but only in the next morning as nobody could take care of it at that moment.
The next morning, I called again at 11, as I haven’t heard any news about it. The issue has been escalated, and the bed has been removed during my lunch-break, as I went out for an hour. Coming back at 1pm, the bed was away, but the door was not properly closed, so it was possible to open the door without entering the code… luckily, nobody stole any of my belongings, but it could have led to something worse. Please repair the door system so it could close on its own, without an extra push.
- Lauren (8/5): Good stay - The room was in great location, 10 minutes from the station and a short walk to the old town and lake.
It was clean and comfortable, however the bed could benefit from some firmer/more pillows.
All in all a good and affordable stay in Zurich.
- Franko (4/5): - Property is locates in proximity of main train station, in a dodgy looking street with prostitutes and homeless people. Interesting, there is police station there. I read temp in the room is high and unpleasent, as there is no aircon. I fe
- Jonathan (6/5): - The location was good - within walking distance to old town. But also in a more economically struggling area and if your not used to it it will be a big culture shock if your not used to seeing things like it.
- Hyun Jeong (8/5): - They have a microwave, so you can warm food or ready meals. The bed was relatively comfortable, and the internet worked efficiently.
- Arnel (10/5): - Clean and comfortable room but neighbourhood is not so appealing.
- Thuy Phuong Hoa (10/5): - Really enjoyed my stay, especially the process of convenient check in / check out (no human contact required). Just a small note if you can check the AC in the rooms, extremely loud
- Lovepreet (8/5): - Good option has a supermarket under building and close to train station
- Verified traveler (8/5): good stay - It was good but the locker to store our luggage was not working.
- LAI MEI (8/5): - Overall a pleasant stay. Clean and the location is pretty good. It would be even better if disposable slippers and extra waste bags were provided in the room for added convenience.
- Mary (6/5): - The room was new and neat, but the bed sheets had stains and smelled like it had not been changed and the cover and sheets seemed rumpled..the smell could have been an old duvet. Shower pressure was very low, but overall the stay was ok.
- Blair (10/5): Good clean hotel. - Nice hotel, very clean and pleasant.
- Jennifer (4/5): - I had stayed here the week before and had very few issues. However this time the room wasn't very clean and the air con was broken. The thermostat read 28 degrees which was pretty unbearable. There's no staff on site only online chat which wasn't very responsive the last time I stayed either but it was a minor issue so I didn't mind but frustrating when things are actually wrong.
- Trisha (8/5): Great option in Zurich - Rooms are very clean and comfortable. Room has outside blinds and AC which is great for hot summer days/nights. Access is straightforward, and very central location.
- Jennifer (8/5): - Lovely room that with microwave and mini fridge. Cutlery and delph provided however no sponge or dish soap given.
Laundry is unfortunately not accessible to short stay guests which definitely is a negative.
The pillows were incredibly flat and when I requested one more I was told they didn't have anymore. I ended up buying my own.
It's clean, bright and comfortable otherwise.
- Verified traveler (2/5): Comfortable but BAD/ NO service - We had issues right from the start when the entry code didn’t work. Thankfully, a couple who had stayed there previously helped us call and get an updated code. We stayed for 4 nights, but there was no room service during our entire stay. The bed was comfortable, but it only came with two pillows. On day 2, we texted multiple times requesting either a towel exchange or additional towels and two more pillows. While we received prompt responses each time, nothing was ever delivered.
The apartment is in a central location, which was convenient, but we wouldn't choose to stay somewhere without a receptionist again. When things go wrong, it really helps to have someone on-site to assist.
- Daniel (10/5): - Great location, clean, and good facilities.
- Susan (8/5): No cleaning service, really!?!? - Hard bed. Only 1 clean at the very end of a weeks stay was disappointing. At least clean mid-stay.
- Nuria (6/5): - This property is used as apartments, not a hotel. You cannot check in before 3:00 p.m. And rooms are not cleaned until the fourth day if you stay for five or more days. On checkout, you have to check out by 11:00 a.m., and there's no place to leave your luggage if you need to. You have to leave your luggage at the train station, and it costs CHF 10 per bag. The location of this building is at walkable distance from the main train station, around 10min. To the main centre is a bit far around 40mint walking. The air conditioning was too noisy, we couldn't sleep well because of the noise, and we couldn't turn it up or down because it was locked so it couldn't be touched. The pillows, really, were very low and there were no spares, so we had to request a pair the day they came to clean, but that was the last day.
Overall not good value for money
- Min Jung (8/5): - Easy to get into the unit and check in. Clean. Staff very responsive to messaging.
- Sharon (8/5): - Hotel was clean and relatively easy to check in. However I had read that this location had luggage storage/room that locked with your room code durin your stay and that was not the case. I tried to communicate this with them but they didn’t seem to get it.
- Ishani (10/5): - Good location . 10mins walk from Zurich HB
Supermarket in the same building
Nice room
- Nicola (10/5): 5* stay - The hotel room far exceeded our expectations. So much storage, clean and spacious.
- Anna (10/5): - Great location. Very clean. Great location
- Verified traveler (10/5): New clean hotel, convenient lication - Hotel is walking distance to the Zurich HB with a lot of food options in the station itself or along the way. If you follow all the checkin/out instructions, everything should be seamless. We feel safe having to key in room codes before entering the property/elevator/room. The neighborhood also looks safe but we always go back before dusk, not sure how it is outside when nighttime sets in. Room seems to have good insulation, we did not hear any noises in the hallways or outside. Coop right below is a big plus, with more budget friendly and quick meal deals.
- Verified traveler (4/5): Disappointing stay - not as advertised - Check-in is done via a link, and you get a 6-digit code to access both the hotel’s front door and your room. Unfortunately, there’s no lock on the inside of the door, which didn’t feel great in terms of personal security.
The biggest issue, though, was the lack of real air conditioning. While the listing said there was AC, we later found out it’s actually just an air circulation system. The screen in the room constantly showed 27°C, and it was uncomfortably hot the entire time. We had to ask multiple times over WhatsApp before they eventually sent us a standing fan — which didn’t help much.
The room itself was okay — small, but fairly well equipped. Shower water pressure was very weak. We also asked for an extra blanket at 17:00 when we arrived and were told it would come the next morning, but it never did, even after following up.
Overall, wouldn’t recommend if you’re staying in warmer months or care about basic comfort and service.
- Robert (10/5): - clean, close to station with nice walk on europlatz
- CHI KIN (10/5): -
- Nima (2/5): - One day before our checkout day, the door pass code no longer worked, and we were locked out. Since there was no reception on site, it took about two hours for them to respond, and eventually, someone who claimed to be a long-term resident came in with a master key (physical key) and opened the door to our room! Not only is it very inconvenient, but it is also concerning regarding safety.
- Letitia (8/5): - The suite itself was beautiful and clean, the overall building was very run down. After dark there were no lights on upper staircase which could be dangerous if we wouldn’t have had our smartphones. We were only left one set of keys for two couples and you needed the key to lock and unlock the door from both inside and outside….not good if there is a fire.
- Gabrielle (10/5): - Nice modern and clean. In good neighborhood with local restaurants and near the main train station. Easy self check in and check out. No front desk needed. Right above a coop (grocery store).
- Grant (6/5): - The sheets and the towels appeared to not have be clean, there were many hairs in the sheets and the towels had marks on them. Check in was easy and the room was nice, but maybe double check cleaning protocol
- Nemia (6/5): - no receptionist
- Eric (10/5): - Ery well located
- Nam Huong (8/5): - The room is immaculate, new and modern. The check in is very impersonal but efficient. Be sure to arrive no earlier than 3:05 pm. The presence of washer dryer and luggage storage is a plus . However, The area is undesirable. The one street over is filled with drunkards , even in the morning, prostitution, and homelessness. I felt unsafe in the few minutes waiting for the bus. That’s a real shame bc the apartment /room is pretty nice.
- Richard (10/5): - The room was clean and had a supermarket 2 seconds away, which we went to daily. It was in a nice area and close to transportation and the train station. We would stay there again.
- Edith (10/5): - I recently stayed at City Pop in Zurich and was pleasantly surprised by the modern, self-service concept. There’s no reception desk—instead, everything is handled online. About a week before arrival, I received an email requesting my card details. Once provided, I was sent detailed check-in instructions, including codes for the entrance and my room. These were also shared via WhatsApp, which was very convenient.
The hotel is located about 10 minutes on foot from Zurich’s central train station, and it was easy to find. The check-in process went smoothly with no issues.
My room was clean, spacious, and looked brand new. It had a minimalist but stylish design, with great lighting, a TV, and plenty of outlets. The bed was comfortable, and both the linens and pillows were of good quality. Amenities included a kettle, coffee machine with tea and coffee, fridge, microwave, plates, and cutlery—everything you need for a short stay.
The bathroom was spotless, with a powerful shower, soft white towels, and quality toiletries. Storage was practical, with a wardrobe, full-length mirror, and drawers.
The only downside was the noise from nearby bars and clubs at night, although it was quiet during the day. It didn’t bother me, but light sleepers might want earplugs.
A major convenience was the supermarket downstairs, offering groceries, hot meals, and discounts—perfect for easy dining.
Overall, City Pop was excellent value for money. It’s clean, modern, and well-equipped, and the self
- RAFFI (6/5): - Good location, clean
- Eric (10/5): - We found the hotel with ease. We wanted to be close to the railway station and the old town and it was perfect. We were pleasantly surprised with the size of the room.
- Olivia (6/5): - Things to note:
There are 2 check-ins, one on the day of your arrival where you must upload a travel document. If you don't do this, they don't give you the door code. The luggage room is on the -1 floor for arrivals. It's mostly clean and quiet on weekdays. Minimal noise from the outside too. They did not remove trash inside the bathroom trash in my room, but other than that it was pretty much fine. No frills, cheap stay, you get what you pay for; but I've seen much worse. Great option for solo travelers/students on a budget.
- Yuliya (8/5): - Cute and cozy apartment. Very clean and looks new. The only problem was that our PIN code did not work when we were checking in and since there is no one available at the property to assist, we had to call the customer service. Three other customers also had the same issue on our floor. We all had to call. But they helped us very quickly and we were able to come inside. Otherwise, good location, close to the train station and downtown.
Rekommenderas
- Matthias (10/5): - Very simple process and nice clean room but somewhat small but functional
Enjoyed my stay
- Susan (10/5): Very impressed - Great pre arrival communication. Auto check in easy . Room & bathroom immaculately clean . Very modern good facilities in room
- MEGUMI (10/5): - The location was good and the room was clean with a very reasonable price
It was walking distance from the zuric central station
The supermarket was next door
I didn’t receive my confirmation after booking
Make sure to check email and fill out the form or you are not get the special code for check in
I was having a very hard time for check in
Because I didn’t receive email
- Dave (10/5): - Shame i had issues with check in, with 2 call it was resolved
- MONICA (8/5): - Good service
- Pritesh (10/5): - Great room. Good quality furnishings.
- Kanchan (10/5): - Excelente price , room , bed everything
- John (2/5): No support and room code did not work - We arrived at 3:00pm for self check-in. The code we were given did not work for the room and we could not get into our room. After an hour of messaging them we received no response. We are now fighting with Hotels.ca to get our money back and will have to get our credit card charge canceled. We had to find another hotel at the last minute. DO NOT BOOK THIS HOTEL!
Pois já havia feito o check-in.
- Rajoo (8/5): - Communication was not prompt. Also, there
- Mario (8/5): - Pleasant accomodation, fine refusbished building. Good service, reasonable price
- Alan (4/5): Loud, hot and uncomfy - Great communication and ease of self check in , but…… that’s where it ends , we were on the front of the building 3rd floor , music played until 4:30am both evenings which echoed down the whole street , street noise was loud , and only one pillow per person with no spares in cupboard and with no check in desk it was then impossible to gain more pillows. Room was clean and very bright but air con even when turned on , wouldn’t decrease to less than 24°C also. Lovely city , clean hotel that’s where it ends
- Christian Dan (10/5): - Accessible! Seamless check in and out process too!
- Luiz (10/5): - New apto and great location
- Steve (6/5): - The property and the room itself are brand new and in a great location. However, our stay was let down by several reasons.
You can only check in once you have paid an additional deposit which we were not told about prior and the had to contact the property to ask for it back after our stay and they ‘hadn’t realised’ there was a deposit to be returned.
We were given a room ahead of check in. We were there on time only for our room number to be changed shortly after check in.
There was no way to control the temperature of the room and it was uncomfortably warm, so lost sleep. You can’t open the windows as many of the rooms face a noisy street.
Finally, the room is well equipped with cups plates, a microwave etc. but there’s nowhere other than the bathroom to wash dishes. So we opted not to use as want sure how the guests before us had cleaned.
The communication is pretty poor. You have to self check-out but the app didn’t allow us to do so, so we had to write to confirm we had left. They replied acknowledging they needed to adjust the check out procedure.
So all in all. An average stay. Hopefully these are teething problems which will get sorted. But currently we wouldn’t recommend or stay at the property again.
- David (6/5): - The rooms were fineand cleanliness very good. As a foreigner, it was incredibly difficult to get information on the room or door codes. I was given a text message (when roaming is very difficult to receive) about our room number and code but by the time I got the code, I was already at the door with no assistance. I had to call the service department which cost a fortune on roaming and they had wifi but no password was given. If a tiny bit more clear communication was made, our stay would have been 5/5. But I give it a final 3/5. When it rains, the steel flashing makes a "tap tap tap" all night long.
- Julia (8/5): Bra men kan bli bättre! - + Rent
+ Fräscht
+ I centrum
+ Bra vattentryck i duchen
+ Bra pris
- Aircondition funkade inte
- mycket ljud utifrån
- bara en kudde per person
- Elias (8/5): - 15 minutes walk from the train station. Really nice and thoughtful room layout. Surrounding area has a lot of young adults. Seemed to be affordable compared to the surrounding area's options.
- Dimple (8/5): Clean, but lacking any attention to detail - The property was clean; easy to access for those who like a fully digital experience.
2 things were missing
1. No hair dryer and no easy way to get in touch with anyone to request one! The downside of being fully digital.
2. The kettle was there, but the bottom that connects to the socket was missing. So no way to get a cup of tea!
I would have given a 5 star rating
- George (10/5): Couldn't fault it if I tried - Really accessible, comfortable and clean hotel. The check-in in advance is a super feature so you just arrive and you are straight into your room. Really impressed.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Property was super new, but the instructions in the emails were pretty confusing. They initially sent me to the wrong room.
- Andrew (4/5): Great apartments ruined by noise - The apartment itself was great and someone has obviously spent a lot of time, effort and money on them. The problem for us was the noise from the club over the road and the street below that went on until past 5am, meaning we got no sleep at all and were both worn out all day :-(
- Anna Elisa (8/5): - Will share this with friends
- Olivia (10/5): - Brand new unit - excellent building and very close to metro /train. Highly recommend if you just need a nice place to stay/great bathroom but don’t need restaurant/bar inside the hotel. Loved our stay and definitely will stay again !
- Patrick (6/5): - The room was very nice however it was very hot, the only way to cool the room was to open the window but there was a very loud restaurant right outside.
Also, there was no hot water.
- Malina (10/5): - Great, clean place. Grocery store on bottom level. 5-10 min walk to HB train station.
- Eduardo (8/5): - No hay personal
