I was excited to stay at a 3-bedroom vacation home in Seattle booked through Expedia. Two days before arrival, I was told the unit was unavailable but I’d be “upgraded” to a 4-bedroom. I assumed it was equal or better. I requested photos and only received them a day later after following up. The interior looked dated, and no exterior photos were shared.
When I arrived, it was clearly a downgrade. The exterior was dirty, the grill was broken, and the home had odd Elvis Presley decor—including a large photo of him with a Confederate flag. It was offensive and nothing like what was advertised.
I contacted the manager and Expedia. The property manager was rude and dismissive. An Expedia rep actually agreed with me, but hung up mid-call and never followed up. While looking for other options, I saw the original unit was still listed as available for my exact dates. Either they don’t rent their nicer units to “certain people” or they’re scamming guests by switching them to lower-quality units.
That night, I also noticed there were no face towels. When I asked, the manager rudely said I’d been checked in for 30 hours (I had only been there six) and questioned why I was just now asking. Their tone was immature and unprofessional.
I’ve never left a bad review before, but this experience was unacceptable. My family made the best of it, but I would never trust this property or its management again. Waiting on response from Expedia.
- Sharon (6/5): - Original rental had to be changed while already travelling; parking spot direction was incorrect; limited tools to use in kitchen; wifi didntnwork, didnt have apace to sit outside as original booking did; there was an oder in the house bathrooms. Not sure if alternate u unit was better or equal to original rental.
- Amber (10/5): - This was a beautiful property. We were in Seattle during the most devastating time of our lives and these owners were so wonderful with us. They went above and beyond for our family. The unit itself was in excellent condition, very clean and in excellent location. The beds were all very comfortable. I highly recommend this place.
- Magda (10/5): - This house is beautiful. Very clean, excellent view-sits up high. Outstanding communication. Price was very affordable. Access to 1 car garage. If you have more than one car, be prepared to climb a steep hill or a ton of stairs to get to front door. Being from texas, was not expecting there to be so many stairs IN the house-might be expected from a local. There’s a total of 6 “stories” and 3 balconies. Would definitely stay here again.
- Luisa (10/5): - Very warm and had beautiful views
