Guest Reviews
- Mr Tim (4/5): - Staff friendly. Room tired and bed saggy and uncomfortable. Music from bar VERY loud and audible in room - went on until midnight. No chance of sleeping. Wanted to check out at 8.45am, breakfast was supposed to be served at 9, NO ONE available. Bar area locked, knocked on all doors marked private, no one around, couldn't check out. Poor servive.
- Brenda (10/5): - Room was clean, bathroom on the small side, but doable. Pub downstairs, provides good food and drinks and was quiet after 10 PM.
- linda (6/5): - Noisy pub. The landlord did his best on a busy night but it is still a room above a pub with loud music downstairs. Good food. Handy to train and supermarket. The bed very uncomfortable unfortunately. Nobody around at checkout to mention this to. No parking. Had to park in the supermarket and couldn’t drag our bags over and up the stairs as we are not young people.
- Brenda (10/5): - The Agricultural Inn was authentic, super friendly and comfortable. The pub and food were excellent. Our room and en suite bath were large with a comfortable bed and nice amenities. We are so happy that we chose this stay! Penrith was great too. Highest marks to the staff and owners at the Agricultural Inn! We hope to return and stay again.
- Jonathan (8/5): Room ok but no breakfast - A town centre pub with limited parking. No breakfast available until the chef arrives at 9 so had to drive to find a breakfast somewhere else. If I had known that I wouldn’t have stayed there
- Aaron (10/5): Great place - Stayed here before with work and will stay here in future, place has really good food, free parking and really close to the centre of town.
- ISRAEL (6/5): It depends - I guess there’s bound to be a problem when no formal reception exists. I stayed 2 nights and nothing was cleaned or replaced in my room for the second day/night. No one at the bar could help. The room was ok but just over the patio and people were loud until 1 AM. Bed fair. Sheets clean. Shower good.
- Naomi (6/5): Expensive for what it was - Staff were extremely welcoming and helpful. Room and bathroom was very spacious and clean. Shower had a good water pressure.
The property and room were dated and worn in areas. The out of hours entrance was not lit and visibility was very poor. Check in closed at 10pm and there was no one around in the morning to check out, breakfast was not served until 9am. I thought the hotel/inn was expensive (>£100) for what it was, I would have been satisfied with my stay had it been lower price.
- William (10/5): Agricultural Inn - Very friendly staff, room was spacious, clean and tidy.
- Elaine (8/5): - Had a good welcome, friendly and helpful. Only a quick stop on journey so fine for what needed. Clean and tidy room with all the basics. Looked a good bar area although had stopped serving food so didnt use as we were fairly late. Would use again though.
- Verified traveler (6/5): - Everything else was good, but the bed was not confortable at all and all we needed was a good night of sleep
- Chris (4/5): - Sound of kitchen fan in bedroom unbearable
- Sal (10/5): One night in Penrith - Very efficient and friendly staff. Easy check in and check out. Lovely bar. Parking available. Penrith is a great little town.
- Sue (10/5): - Friendly welcome, lovely spacious room with plenty of well placed plug points. Good size bathroom with toiletries. Room was serviced every day and small bottles of water replaced. Walkable in to town centre albeit uphill on the way back. Would stay here again and would recommend.
- Claire-Frances (10/5): - We had a wonderful warm welcome at the Agricultural Inn. My bro and I stayed for 5 nights to meet our family who live in Penrith we had many wonderful breakfasts a few pints and a wonderful dinner. Everything was spot on! Meghan and Thomas along with John work tirelessly to ensure a fantastic stay and we truly appreciate their smiles and openess to share stories, they are ACES in the hospitality industry. Well appointed and clean rooms, great Pub and outside terrace close to everything on foot!!! Cheers! :D
- Clara (10/5): - A really lovely place to stay in a convenient location. Helpful, friendly staff and our room was perfect. Full of character, quiet for sleeping and came with everything we needed including a coffee machine and complementary bottles of water.
- Neil (10/5): - This is a hidden gem excellent staff great food, but it is the friendliness that shines through
- Matthew (10/5): - Very much enjoyed our stay at the Agricultural Inn. Lovely renovated rooms. Very clean. Very friendly and helpful staff. Nice bar and beer garden. Great location.
- Steven (10/5): - Good size room with character. Friendly staff. Good location not far from the town and motorway.
- craig (8/5): Room only but all very good - lovely clean room with a comfy bed and a shower with the best water pressure i have experienced this year.
TBH i was only in the room and away the next morning as i was knackered from driving on arrival and had a meeting the next morning but the room and the friendly staff on arrival would suggest if I'm in the area again i would not hesitate to book..
- Ann-Sofie (6/5): Helt okej boende centralt i Penrith.
- Craig (8/5): Nice enough hotel - Nice hotel with lovely atmosphere & good facilities. Short walk to Penrith Castle ruins & shops. Meal was only average.
- Carl (4/5): Poor experience but nice friendly staff - Nice staff and meal was average but okay
Room was shocking and skylight window wouldn’t shut above the bed so a member of staff suggested I use towels to try and stop the draft (didn’t work as window was large and in poor state of repair) impossible to sleep, room was old, warn and not very clean although I was told it was refurbished in Nov 2024. At checkout no one was there until 9.00am but I was informed of this when I booked in, which I must say I don't remember and neither does my colleague
Not impressed at all.
- tim (8/5): Pleasant enough. - Pleasant enough Inn. Little noisy in the morning as there is an events business adjacent. Central to Penrith, motorbike parked off road no problem. Decent choice of ales. Negatives; stair carpet desperate for a clean, very scruffy outside kitchens. Would have expected a breakfast included at £100 a night, off season.
- Robert (10/5): - Great stay, friendly staff.
- Daniel (10/5): - We had to leave very early the next morning to take part in the Macmillan Mighty Hike and the staff accommodated us, giving us instructions on how we could check ourselves out, thank you!
My only complaint would be the showerhead in our room was very grimy and should be replaced, otherwise the room was excellent!
- Diane (10/5): - Room was lovely and we were allowed in earlier than the stated check in time. Great position.
- Stuart (10/5): Great Location - Had a brief but enjoyable stay. Loved the history of the hotel and the old auction ring. The breakfast was very good and the staff were very welcoming. We would definitely stay again
- david (10/5): - Really nice place to stay. Very central penrith.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Great stay - Great location with easy parking, quiet, would use again
- Nina (10/5): - Very welcome,clean ,comfortable
- Nicola (4/5): - I booked this Inn for myself and my niece who is 8. We spent the day with friends at Pooley Bridge and looked forward to a good sleep after a full day paddling in the lake. Unfortunately this didn't happen. We checked in at 9pm, the bar was very busy and there was a live band playing. My niece and I were placed in a room which was directly above the bar, a window very high up
- Patricia (10/5): - Beautifully redone vintage hotel with modern amenities, amazing staff, and a great location and history. If you stay, ask about the name - I won’t spoil it. If you are in the area, a must stay!
- SHOICHI (10/5): - 一階がパブで、夕食がとりやすかったです。また部屋も広かったのでゆっくり休めました。
- PE (10/5): Weekend away - We enjoyed our stay at the agricultural inn it is a warm cosy friendly type of place the food was good and the service was even better, we wouldn't hesitate in staying there again
- Paul (10/5): - We stayed here cycling the C2C; they couldn’t have been more helpful to store the bikes even though they didn’t have much room.
The water pressure in the shower is amazing.
Nice pub.
- Harry (10/5): Super accommodating - We arrived at 12:30am and were very accommodating to our late arrival. Very friendly staff and super clean. Thank you for letting us arrive so late after a wedding!
- Mary (10/5): - Agriculture Inn is a gem! The owners are on site and give personalized attention with a smile!
The room was so clean, the food and ale was so delicious, and the castle ruins are across the street.
They have a nice beer garden that is well attended by locals and feels very relaxed and comfortable. Not crazy or noisy, just a nice local feel.
The bathroom was very small but not an issue for us.
I would definitely go back! The history of the building is also very interesting.
- Tracey (10/5): - Lovely place, very convenient for the train station.
- david (10/5): - Very nice spot in penrith . Good staff, nice room.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Highly recommended - This is a comfortable and popular pub with clean and comfortable bedrooms. Great service, good beer and a cooked to order breakfast.
Can't go wrong
- Karl (10/5): Just good - Great stay, all good, i will return
- Mollie (10/5): Very nice hotel and restaurant! - We had a great stay here!
- Verified traveler (8/5): Good, bargain, boutique-vibe stay. - Bar and rooms were clean. Lady who checked us in at the bar was friendly and gave the information required about codes/keys. Our room was direct above the bar and looked over the smoking entrance so was loud until closing. Overall a great, comfortable stay. Loved the nespresso machine in the room and the decor was beautiful! Thanks
- Stephen (10/5): - Staff excellent
