Guest Reviews
A cama é confortável e o quarto agradável e silencioso 🙏
- Tami Marie (10/5): - Staff very helpful. Property is classic with a tangible spiritual history.
- Nicky (6/5): - I was put in room 6 which was through a strange ante-room which was unlit.
There was very little privacy in the room with a large window straight out onto a main road - I had to have the curtains closed - a blind would have solved this issue.
The room was barren. One small towel, no bath mat, no hand towel. Lack of accessible plug sockets. Nowhere to plug in the hairdryer that you could then see a mirror.
The room was VERY noisy. The road noise isn’t the fault of the property but the old windows didn’t help. The internal noise went on until 11pm. The stairs to the staff areas were close by and were very creaky. There were constantly people up and down them. it sounded like furniture was being built in the room directly above! The doorbell went at 10.47pm which was a staff member returning and there was then loud chat as they went through the ante room and up the stairs.
I left at 7.40am and was told that breakfast wouldn’t be ready for another 20 mins.
Overall building security and room door security didn’t feel good. Single old Yale lock and no deadbolt or chain to secure from inside.
Parking was good and links to the city and bypass are good.
- Arda (10/5): - All staff were perfect. They made us feel special. Continental breakfast was not enough. Our room was close to street we could hear the car's sounds and there was a noise from stairs constantly. Hotel could be considered close to the city centre. Bus station in front of the hotel.
- David (6/5): - Not so clean but friendy
- Heather (4/5): - Was not for me. Out of the way, tiny shower, no lift,
- Frank (10/5): Für eine Nacht in Ordnung - Für Biker gut Parkmöglichkeit. Mit dem Bus in 20 Minuten in die City. Betten ein bisschen zu Weich.
- andrew (6/5): - room serviced but tea n coffe not filled up daily. also bin not emptied daily. on arrival provided with 1 bath towel and 1 hand towel. for last 2 days had to use hand towel.
- Colin (6/5): - Property bedroom was fine very comfy bed and spacious but bathroom had no plug in sink so was difficult to wash with boiling water out of hot tap and cold water out of other tap, booked for two nights b&b first morning had breakfast food was fine but basic continental style second morning when we were leaving there was no breakfast set out absolutely nothing so decided to just leave without anything to eat not the best.
- Jason (6/5): One Night Stay in Edinburgh - We were only staying one night for to attend the Oasis gig at Murrayfield so only needed a room for the night and as far as that it ticked all the boxes, I cannot fault the staff they were very friendly and helpful, the room was very clean and the bed was really comfy, however, we went the bar to have a drink before we left and the gentleman advised the fridge didn't work so I had to have a warm bottle of beer, my wife had a vodka and coke and again no ice so it was a room temp vodka & coke, finally, we went for breakie and it was okay but the one small teapot between 2 didn't work, my wife got a full cup & I got the dreggs. I had no complaints with my stay really as only for 1 night but if I had to stay a few more nights I may not be so forgiving.
- John (10/5): Good place to stay, easy access to the city. - Excellent and friendly welcome, room was checked over before giving us the keys, answered our questions (regarding public transport to Edinburgh).
Good night’s sleep, comfortable and quiet.
Good continental breakfast in the morning was good, with good service, option of coffees which where brought to the table.
Would recommend this hotel, not large but good.
- Louise (8/5): - The Abbey is in a great location… about 20 mins drive from Edinburgh. The service was very good and the proprietors were lovely and offered great service. Breakfast was excellent. While the accommodation is basic it was clean and we were very comfortable there. TV also had Netflix which was great. A good place to stay if you’re on a budget and want to be close enough to Edinburgh to enjoy it without the expense and crowds!
- Louise (8/5): - The people who run the Abbey are lovely! Very nice service indeed. We had a good stay there. About 15 minutes drive from centre of Edinburgh, very convenient and easy to get to. Place a bit run down but still comfortable and clean.
- Carla (10/5): - Lovely property and very close to bus stops. Outstanding customer service! Overall amazing, would definitely come back.
- Javed (10/5): Great short stay stopover - Comfortable, close to shops and restaurants, away from centre and hence less busy. Staff were exceptionally helpful especially Romik.
- Paul (6/5): - NA
- Janet (6/5): - Staff were friendly and breakfast was served nicely. Rooms were appointed well. Close to airport. Sheets were not fresh/clean. Window did not close. Hard to stand up in bathroom. Toilet function was a challenge. Front door was locked and buzzer needed to alert staff to open. No lobby, just breakfast eating area. Advertised as three star not two star as it clearly was. Remote location of ‘motel’ to shops.
- Lesley (6/5): - New proprietary still learning
- Hannah (10/5): - Great stay in Edinburgh! The host was super friendly, the room had everything we needed, and the connection to the city was good. Would definitely stay here again.
- RONALD (8/5): - They are under new management and are a bit rough around the edges, that said, the room was brighgt and clean and the new mattress was fantastic, I got such a nights sleep. Ramik went out of his way accommodate any request, so kind and friendly.
- Pauline (6/5): - Property is dated, rooms are very small, bathrooms were extremely small. Big parking lot.
- Tranquillo (2/5): - For what i have paid should sleep lite a quern but unfortunaly doesnot meet any how shows on website bed dirty and more absolutily dissapointed
- Sascha (6/5): - Der Hotelbesitzer war sehr freundlich und zu vorkommen. Frühstück war ausreichend. Anbindung zu öffentlichen Verkehrsmitteln war super. Kann man für ein Wochenend Trip Empfang 👌
- Madonna (10/5): - We surely enjoyed our stay at the Abbey Residence.. my family and I had a blast especially with their customer service.. shout out to Niko the owner and Romick his close friend for taking care of us. We will definitely recommend this cozy and beautiful place. Will surely come back. You guys are very much appreciated.. thank you for everything! ♥️
- John (8/5): - Our host was most welcoming and the property and rooms clean and tidy.
- Rafiq (8/5): - Location
- Rosemary (8/5): Friendly staff and good location with free parking - If you are looking for somewhere to stay on a budget just out of central Edinburgh this property is in a good location with buses every 15-20 mins to edinburgh. It typically took us 45 mins door to door to anywhere we were going in the centre and parking was free which was really helpful. I wanted to make a special shout out to the host that we dealt with throughout our stay, I’m so sorry but I don’t believe we exchanged names, but I know that he is originally from India. He was very respectful and friendly and told us interesting stories about his journey. He also let me use the bathroom at 8pm before driving back home - a small thing but greatly appreciated thank you!
- tanasorn (10/5): - Checked in was good, great customer service by the manager. thank you
- Pamela (10/5): - This hotel is on a bus route straight into city and was definitely a great value for money option. It has a new owner who is working hard to make it a great destination. He was very friendly and helpful. Breakfast was good too - small buffet but fresh and tasty. I’d definitely stay again.
- Verified traveler (6/5): So- - The room was good. Clean and comfortable BUT it was very noisy late at night and early in the morning with people walking about on VERY noisy floorboards in the room above ours. Couldn't get to sleep for ages and then was woken at the crack of dawn. NOT GOOD!! The hotel manager was super helpful and very courteous, nothing was too much trouble. The building itself could do with improvements making as first impressions aren't good 😕.
- Linda (8/5): - Comfortable bed. Nice staff.
- Daniel (8/5): Night away - Spent a night here for a weekend away in Edinburgh. Nice little place and good value.
- Alina (10/5): The Abbey Residence experience - I very much enjoyed my stay at the Abbey Residence. The highlight of it all is of course the people. Hosts insisted on doing anything in their power to make your stay exceptional. All the advice on how to plan the stay and sightseeing in Edinburgh or in other areas made the experience much more easier and relaxed and very comfortable. It's not like it's ideal place on Earth, it's close to one of the main streets in the area so if you're sensitive to noise just remember your earplugs. I very much hope to be back sooner than later. Thanks for the lovely time!
- Debra (8/5): - Traffic noise all night. Staff lovely nothing too much trouble for them. Extremely helpful and professional
- frédéric (10/5): Super rapport qualité prix avec parking gratuit - Super séjour. Personnel extrêmement sympathique. Chambre confortable.
Hyper pratique quand on a une voiture. Parking gratuit et bus à 3 min. En 20/25 min on est en ville !
- Alana (10/5): - I stayed here for a night whilst traveling solo for the first time, though I wish I could’ve stayed longer. Everything was lovely and professional, as were the owners. I had the pleasure of speaking with each of them—they are truly the kindest souls, and gave very helpful recommendations concerning Edinburgh activities.
My room was very comfortable; the bathroom was warm, which was very pleasant after a chilly day; and the neighborhood around the hotel is adorable and quiet if you prioritize beauty rest.
I don’t really eat breakfast, but it is served everyday between 7:30 and 9:30AM if you need a pick-me-up.
Truly a gem if you get to stay here after the business of Edinburgh’s center; and absolutely worth the price—I highly recommend! Transportation to and from the city center is easy both by bus or car.
- Georgette (10/5): - was phenominal; safe, cozy, and courteous staff who just want to make sure you are the most comfortable. I will definitely be staying there next time.
- Joe (8/5): - new and the room was really nice
- Ganga Krishna (10/5): - Good staff behaviour
- Elli (10/5): - Staff & their service are excellent , thank you
- Ali-Reza (10/5): - Amazing staff, super friendly. Felt like I was at home and safe.
