Guest Reviews
- Uwe (4/5): - The room smelled musty and the bed had dog hair in it. The sheets were not changed. Nice location but a mediocre motel otherwise.
- Kevin (10/5): - River 2nd floor balcony was excellent
- kathy (10/5): - Always love staying here so pe
- KIMMIE (6/5): - Facilities need a Total renovation
- Danny (8/5): - Love the creek view from balcony, hotel is old and just needs some TLC to get it back up to par, bed killed my back, staff was excellent
- Denzel (4/5): - It was good, the bathroom is small like room closet small. the sink water doesn't have enough pressure and doesn't get hot very well.
Also had issues with my card to enter my room and couldn't get in my room late one night and with no overnight support i was stuck with sleeping in my car overnight until morning probably not staying in this spot for a while
- Deborah (8/5): - Clean room, beautiful view of river, friendly staff, great location ,quite atmosphere. Close areas for shopping. Close proximity to national park. We had a wonderful stay and will definitely stay at newfound lodge again.
- Gordon (4/5): - Microwave and coffee maker were dirty and old. Carpet was dirty. Limited access for pet area and nobody had cleaned up after their pets in a long time. Disgusting odor in that area and couldn’t access it due to the feces everywhere. Wouldn’t stay there again.
- Tonya (4/5): - Our room had not been cleaned when we checked in but the staff was great about getting it clean asap. It’s an older property which could use some updating. However, the water took six minutes to warm up and never did get hot. Thanks to the lukewarm showers, I can’t recommend staying there.
- Tanya (6/5): - Needs to be serviced
- ashley (2/5): Stay down the road - Poor service and not clean. I arrived at 9pm to no one in the office to check me in. Room was gross and pillow cases were stained. Also had no towels. I'm usually a go with the flow, just need a place to sleep kinda girl but this was not even bare minimum... One positive note was pretty view of the creek from the balcony.
- Wayne (10/5): - Place is in shabby shape.stayed here years ago so sad now.
- Janice (10/5): - Really nice place to stay
- Kerrie (10/5): - Clean room and great view
- Wayne (8/5): - Was a relaxing night on the river.
- Glenda (8/5): - clean room, wonderful staff
- Janette (10/5): - Love that all the balconies face the river. So beautiful and peaceful. Wonderful price great location. It’s perfect for the Cherokee experience and for the family.
- steve (8/5): It's not for everyone but thats the point - First off, this hotel is dated and it shows, so if you are looking for modern creature comforts this is place is not for you. Wallpaper is coming off, water stains on the ceiling, and outdate furniture. If you ask me this gives it charm. The place was clean and lady at check was polite. The biggest draw of this place is how close you are to one of the best National parks and the view from the balcony. You could keep the balcony door open and fall asleep to the sound of the river running. The only negative i had during my stay and it wasn't the hotels fault was the strong smell of cannabis coming from outside balcony area at night. It wasnt there in the morning so we were able to enjoy a nice relaxing morning.
- Carol (8/5): - Very clean. People was nice. Little dated but the balcony made up for it.
- Stephen (10/5): - Its a bit dated, and needs an upgrade, but... the point of vacation isn't to stay in the room! Great balcony, wonderful location, comfortable bed, and great water pressure!
- sidney (4/5): - Carpet or sticky to walk on bathroom was dirty no hot water, told the girl at the front desk about no hot water. She said she would turn it on. We never did receive any hot water. The view out the balcony was nice, but that was the only part of the stay worth anything
- William (6/5): - PET FRIENDLY - THAT IS WHY WE CHOSE NEDWFOUND
OUTSIDE LIGHT ON BALCONY DID NOT WORK. LIGHT OUTSIDED OF ROOM DOOR DID NOT WORK.
- David (10/5): - I have stayed at newfound Lodge many times over the years. It was a little surprised that I did not have a phone microwave, coffee pot or refrigerator in my room was told not all rooms have them also a little surprised the last day of my stay the lady to clean my room went into my room 45 minutes before I was to check out I had not gotten everything out of my room also had a do not disturb sign on the door. She apologized, but still did not read her paperwork and the door handle note even though this happened, I will stay again. I’ve always called Cherokee, North Carolina my second home, cause I’ve been going all my life starting out with my parents taking me when I was a child.
- Debbie (2/5): - Bed bugs.....enough said.
- Teresa (4/5): - The large balcony on the river with rocking chairs was great. We had a large room with a king bed and loveseat which was nice. Some road noise but not bad. We saw several elk very near the hotel. Canadian geese, hawks and other birds were on the river.
Be warned on your room location:
We had one of the worse rooms there. It was on the ground floor next to the laundry/boiler room where an industrial dryer's very large vent was mounted on the back wall next to our balcony. We stayed 3 nights. One day and a half was ruined from the very loud dryer vent almost continuously in use. We could not hear anything else. This totally defeated the reason we chose to stay on the river. I'm sure the room above ours and the room over the laundry was also impacted by the noise.
The small closet area was repurposed for the small fridge and microwave sitting on a table. Great idea but it left us with a tiny area to hang our clothing with 3 hangers on each side. And having clothing up against these appliances does not seem safe.
- John (10/5): - We had room 106, the room was very clean, the outside porch was very nice, wonder view of the river, location was ideal for good resturants, the staff was really nice and helpful answering questions. we will deinitely be back to this wonderful lodge.
- Luzminda (10/5): - In the back of the bedroom is a river.
Also accepting service dog.
Front desk is friendly
- Verified traveler (6/5): It was okay. - Lovely view of the river, but it is an older hotel and the age shows in the fixtures and bathroom.
- John (2/5): - Liked being on the creek.
Didn’t like no hot water and very noisy from the party next store.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Dated but a nice stay - The property is definitely dated and could use a deep clean, however, the staff was great, the beds were comfortable and the view was amazing.
- Wesley (10/5): - Enjoyed the stay. My only suggestion would be to cut and upkeep the little walk bridge. It was such a beautiful place.
- William (4/5): Last minute get away - Check in time was 4 pm. We were not able to get in room untill 5:10 pm. Firt time we tried to get in room it had not been serviced yet. Then the second timer
We tried it had been cleaned but beds not made.
- Verified traveler (10/5): 10 out of 10! Will come back - No complaints. Able to check in earlier than expected time. Room was clean, front desk receptionist was outstanding with customer service. Check on was very easy and fast.
- Daniel (8/5): - Definitely had a great time here, would love to come again and stay!
- Mandy (10/5): - The river view was amazing
- Shelby (10/5): - I like that the property was clean; and close to the river. I like how quiet it was, as if nobody was there around us.
- Pornthip (10/5): - Good viewing
- Vonda (8/5): - Not the best kept rooms. It’s an older place. But sitting on the river with the balcony made up for a lot. Seen no. Staff once checked it so really not sure about them. They didn’t clean room while we were there. I guess that’s a new thing for a lot of places.
- Charles (10/5): - Everything was fine
- Susan (6/5): Good value for the price - Good room with a great river view from the balcony. Rooms are right on the river. No maid service while we were there. Dated facilty and decor, but good value for the price.
- Christopher (2/5): Room from the 70's! And just as nasty! - Cherokee is just not the same as it used to be. Seems like most everything is not even Native owned or operated. Prices are just ridiculous for food. 6 o'clock and everything closes down. Looks like a ghost town after 6pm. Probably be the last time I 'll visit Cherokee. The bed was horrible! Could not sleep at all. Woke up sore the next day. Cannot watch TV from the bed with the paper thin pillows. And 1 smelled like pee real bad! No cleaning service the next day. Had to walk to front desk to get everything. Only 1 ice machine at the other end of the motel and limited to a bucket a day. See pictures attached. Would not recommend to a homeless person!
- Donald (2/5): - The room is dirty, with rust, holes, dirty carpet. Came back to someone changing the locks on our door with no notice that someone would be entering our room, even with the do not disturb sign. Good location but would not stay again.
- Jonathan (8/5): - A little outdated, but for the most part, great service and clean rooms.
- James (8/5): - This is an awesome place to stay, but it does need to be updated. The view of the river is nice. Will be staying here again.
- Tina (10/5): - Balcony overlooking river was a great bonus.
- Nichole (8/5): - We brought our son to NC for his 10th bday trip and he caught his 1st native trout in the river behind the hotel, pink meat. That was his only request. While fishing in the river we looked up the river and seen a heard of elk crossing, very cool. We will be returning.
- Travis (6/5): - Room was sufficient for the purpose, a bed to sleep in while on a fishing trip with buddies. I wouldn’t want to bring my wife to stay. Walls had major water damage and dry wall buckling with wall paper peeling off the walls. The room was cool and had good AC. Was just one step above primitive camping but for $88 it was survivable for one night.
- Rebekah (4/5): - Water damage visible with black mold. Dirty carpet. Musty smell. The balcony however was great with view of creek. Needs to be lit up thou, very dark.
- Sara (8/5): Birthday in the Mountains - This was a great location that had several close food locations. The balcony was large and the river was beautiful! I appreciated them putting out bird seed so we could watch them.
A second key would have been very helpful as well as changing the wallpaper in the bathroom that was peeling.
- Randy (10/5): - All of it was great
- Brandi (10/5): Relaxation at its finest! - Absolutely loved staying there. The little balcony with the rocking chairs next to the stream was everything. So peaceful. So quiet. Just beautiful. Well kept place to stay. Literal went to Dairy Queen which was steps away. So close to everything. We hardly left. Friendly staff. Easy to book.
- marion (10/5): - I spent most of my time in the Cherokee casino. When I checked in they were friendly and courteous. The beds were comfortable. The parking was next to the rooms.
I was pleased with the accommodations.
- Mavis (8/5): Clean - Hotel is older..but very clean
- George (8/5): - One additional item you might consider for each room would be a small coffee maker; other than that the room was very nice.
- Gary (10/5): - The setting around the property. There was nothing I disliked.
- Christopher (8/5): Peaceful river view - Nice river view. Peaceful
- Angela (4/5): - The microwave didn't work, fridge quit, light were dim, air cond leaking, walls stained with something , curtains were stained.y daughters room had a ceiling leaking onto theiddle.of the bed and the air didn't work.
- Audrey (6/5): - Just didnt seem like it had been kept up and thoroughly cleaned.
- Cindy (4/5): - Shower walls and shower curtain had blue body wash or shampoo on it. Drains very slow. Carpet is filthy.
- Hazel (2/5): Dont make reservations - The road from Gatlinburg closed due to a mud slide from heavy rains. We were not allowed to cancel or modify our reservation.
- James (2/5): - The view did not look like the picture it was Growed up, the room was dirty. Furniture all messed up look like a place that drug addicts should stay. Did not feel safe would not go back. Would not recommend anybody to go. I would not even recommend your company to book anybody a room there Had had to ask for toilet paper.
Had to ask for wash clothes Just.
A nasty place
- Gina (6/5): - Nice, low-budget room with outdoor balcony on a river. I was very pleased with my accommodations at the Newfound Lodge - spacious room, very comfortable bed, mini-fridge w/ freezer, microwave, and river view. The room furnishings are old with saggy carpet, scratched walls, and a small TV and bathroom. Also a musty odor when first entering the room. But for the price and location, it was perfect.
- Natalie (8/5): - The river view and balcony with rocking chairs was wonderful.
- Betty (10/5): - The front desk employee was and is always amazing. This was our 2nd time staying here and we have made this best choice!!
- Penny (8/5): - It was guilt, beds were comfy! Older motel but clean! Good for the price, we chose to stay and extra night. Only bad was it said it had a pool ! When I ask where it was . He said they didn’t have a pool! If it wasn’t for the rocking chair over looking the river and watching the tubers going down , I would have not stayed
- Gabriela (8/5): - Well it was good enough for what we paid for. But one bed was completely clean... the other bed was hidding what you don't wanna see. Yellow water marked pillows and sheets. (Could have been pee. Ya never know.
- Lori (10/5): - Room 128 toilet runs constantly
- Jeremy (6/5): - Property has potential but assuming flood got it and it never recovered. Room smelled like wet dog and sheets had holes in it. But it was beautiful to see river behind it.
- Guillermo (8/5): - Love the shower
- Greg (6/5): - Check-in was easy, staff was helpful, the property is outdated. Room was clean. Just a quick stay. It was all we needed.
- Charlotte (6/5): - The property is right on the river
- Brian (10/5): - It was a great stay and beautiful view
- Dawn (10/5): - Friendly service, easy in and out, great price for the comfort, balcony is very nice and quiet.
- BOYCE (4/5): Aweful - Very much outdated. Under construction. No hot water upon arrival. Was not notified of hot water outage, when managment knew of the issue days prior.
- Elizabeth (2/5): - O
