Guest Reviews
- Edgar (10/5): - Amazing place in a great area! Parking is a struggle but here is the cheat code! Instead of parking 40$+ overnight or paying 10$ per hour in downtown - park in neighborhoods then uber down for 11$.
- John (8/5): Super cute, super clean, confusing communication - Room was cute and clean, easy to access, and quite charming, with a cute courtyard to relax in the evenings. Found the place quite easily thanks to the provided YouTube video, but the room I stayed in had no remote for the AC, and the check-in process was very confusing. I ended up standing in front of the door to my room calling and calling to get a code to "check-in," in spite of me completing the check-in form well before I arrived.
Overall the room was comfortable and clean, the communication was challenging, and the check out instructions were incomplete (had to follow up asking about check-out guidelines).
All in all I do recommend. To the owner, I recommend improving your check-in/communication process, as it current leaves a lot to be desired.
Thanks for the great stay!
- Brooke (10/5): - Clean, cozy and quiet. Would stay here again.
- Emily (10/5): - Great stay in a convenient location, would definitely stay again for any event nearby!
- Verified traveler (10/5): Great location, good stay overall. - Overall a solid 4.5 stay!
The only issues I had was
1. There was a cockroach running around our room floor our last night
2. There does not seem to be consistent hot water. My partner and I had to take cold showers on Thursday at ~1AM and Friday at ~12AM.
But overall, a comfortable, and clean room with good AC for the hot weather, and in a great location.
- Timothy (10/5): - Everything was great. Just a little trouble checking in with communication
- Melodie (2/5): - Terrible service.
- Tim (10/5): A hidden Gem! - Nice place and a great value and location!
- Katrina (10/5): - Wonderful place, and a shockingly good price compared to other places around. We were expecting a bedroom and ended up with a whole apartment, fully kitted out. Beautiful furnishings, secure building, and the instructions from the Artifact were easy to follow. Just a five minute walk from Petco Park, trolley stops, and the Convention Center. Lots of restaurants and cafes nearby.
- Jonathan (10/5): - Private, safe, walking distance to petco park. Short drive to little Italy
- Joseph (4/5): - There is a lot of noise. Even with earplugs it's difficult to sleep. The interior is fairly new so that's nice.
- Richard (8/5): - Possibly consider sharing the check in instructions a little sooner. Did not need the codes, however, would have liked the instructions sooner. Otherwise great unit in perfect location for our stay. Thank you.
- XIAOWEN (10/5): - Wonderful experience of the apartment in SD! Clean and full set of kitchen and bathroom.
Safety courtyard in the downtown area. Near all the bus and train stations which is no need to rent a car. Manager will send the code when check in hours and keep tracking about your travel time. Highly recommended!
- Justin (10/5): - Clean spacious property located walking distance of gaslamp. Easy checkin/checkout. Would definitely recommend.
- Harris (10/5): 10/10 recommend! New favorite Hotel! - Very clean, great communication and loved the layout and open space and amenities. Will be returning and I totally recommend staying here.
- Jorge (2/5): - As soon as ypu walk in you can see a significant difference from the pictures. I purposefully asked to stay on the bottom floor because we have a toddler. When we received the entry codes, I noticed we were on the 3rd floor. I said, two flights, no big deal. When we went in to the apartment it was the size of a small room. Maybe 150 - 200 square feet. We considered staying and sat on the bed. The bed frame moved and we sunk into the bed. I looked under the bed and the frame was bent. It looked like someone was jumping on the bed and bent the frame. It had been rocked back and foward from the damage on the floor. I asked if they had a different room and reveived no reply. We looked over into the kitchen areaand noticed the washing machine in the kitchen was slanted. It wasnt leveled and if it wasnt inside of a wooden frame, it would fall. It was missing the base legs kn the left side. Since we received no reply we decided to vacate because of the size and the conditions of the bed. On our way out we noticed that the lock mechanisms was about to fa off. It looked like someone tried kicking or forcing the door open. That when we finally decided to leave. The property is nice but the condition of our unit did nkt feel safe. They replied 2 hours later but by then, we were already gone. I asked on how to go about a refund and all they said was, "We have a strict cancelation fee." And said nothing else about it. I do not recoment staying here unless you want to be broken into.
- Jon (10/5): Great spot, great room - Was really blown away by how comfortable this place was. I came to San Diego to attend a professional meeting at the convention center, and booked The Artifact rather than a conventional hotel kind of on a whim. I didn’t really realize that it was more of a short term rental than hotel, so was a little confused at the beginning. But it ended up being the perfect distance to the convention center and extremely comfortable. Plus having a laundry machine saved my bacon after a curry incident! Would love to come back again.
- Rodrigo (10/5): Perfeito - Perfeito. Tudo novo e bem decorado…móveis e utensílios de ótima qualidade. Localização ótima e conveniente.
- Brittany (10/5): - Great stay
- kk (10/5): - absolutely amazing, 9.8/10
i would only say if there was parking vouchers for the parking lot across the st it would be 10/10 !!
thank you so much everything was amazing
- Rajarsi (10/5): - I was very happy with the level of cleanliness, location, and guest services. Thank you very much for fantastic stay!
- Dee Dee (10/5): - Expedia users should be aware that this is not a hotel. It is a vacation rental-type property. When you arrive you'll see a big wall with an unmarked door and a key pad. There is no staff on site--the managers/owners will email you the codes (one for the courtyard, one for the building and one for your room) to get in at your check-in time. Once we got over our surprise, it was great! Very nicely appointed studio with a kitchen, a short walk to the thick of the Gas Lamp district and Petco Park. There are a couple of nice breakfast places nearby--we liked Breakfast Republic.
- Denise (10/5): - The place was a cute little studio. Located walking distance to gas lamp extremely close to the Padres stadium. We will definitely book again.
- George (6/5): Great property, but - Had to sleep in my car (arrived at 1 am). Forgot the door code the next day. No phone number to contact property management on either occation. No mention of uploading ID and receiving entry codes for stay. I really like the property and the staff is super friendly when you can find them. used to be a platinum member when I traveled more. And the apps really gone down hill when it comes to customer service.
- Preston (10/5): - This is a great place to stay at! It has everything a home or apartment has. However, be prepared to plane carefully for parking as they property does not offer parking
- José (10/5): - Excelente
- Alexander (10/5): - Great area. Very nice place to stay
- Alex (8/5): - Property was great
