Guest Reviews
- Susan (10/5): - Lovely clean room and bathroom, shower was amazing- rainfall. Room was comfortable and had air conditioning. Very close to amenities and restaurants. Would recommend 100%
- Craig (10/5): - Place was clean and compact. Had everything we needed for the evening.
- Maria (10/5): - Really great location, steps from the ferry terminal and train station, restaurants and shops. Would like better directions though. It was hard to find.
- Tracy (8/5): - Room was okay the bed was quite high and hard to get up to, I am 5’2 and felt a small step up would have helped greatly I had to jump down. It’s not easy being vertically challenged! The room itself was okay there was a loud buzzing sound all night I couldn’t work out where it was coming from. When I first checked in my room door wasn’t shut properly so anyone already in could have been in there I am not sure if it is the door itself because I had to pull closed whenever I left the room.
- Rick (10/5): What a great place! - The room as advertised is quite small. I was there for five nights and had quite a few clothes. There were no drawers to put any clothes away only four hangers. It was okay because the bed had plenty of space underneath it for me to put my suitcase and pull it out when I needed different clothes. The decor of the room was very nice, done in red, grey, and black. The lighting options were excellent with switches conveniently located. What was truly fantastic was the accessibility to the train station (300 feet), to the Caledonian McBayne ferry (600 feet) and several restaurants within 200 feet including a very nice one right above the rooms. I was a solo traveler so this was absolutely perfect for me.
- Linda Charlotte (10/5): Highly recommend! - Very easy access, my phone didn’t sync, I called the telephone # provided on the door , the assistant that answered was very polite, kind & was very happy to let me in. My room was clean, looked new, bed was comfortable, hot water, everything I needed! I spent another night here on my way back. Same experience, clean, new, comfortable bed & hot water.
- John (8/5): - Small but perfectly formed.
- Jack (8/5): - The Pierrooms is a great option for those looking to explore and stay in Oban on a budget. It has all the cleanliness and amenities of a full-blown hotel.
The rooms are pretty small, but that wasn't an issue for us. The air conditioner in the room helps keep the room cool and comfortable, and keeps the air moving and from getting too humid.
All in all, I would stay again!
- Kara (8/5): Convenient location - The room appeared to be fairly clean, it was absolutely tiny, maybe 10 x 8 not including the bathroom. On our second day, the lights stopped working and it could not be fixed. The service was great and we got moved to another room.
- Natalie (6/5): - Mostly ok, I struggled with getting into the property as the link wouldn’t work so I got in by someone holding the door open for me in their way out of the property. I got into my room fine.
Also, I had to have a luke warm shower as there was limited hot water.
- Paul (10/5): - Small compact room right across from the train station and on the pier. Although smallish room, well laid out and functional and it didn't feel especially small. Including a work desk. Good sized bathroom with a strong modern shower. Never saw a person. Was just emailed an electronic key code to get in.
- Arran (10/5): Perfect - Really good clean , easy check in
Ideally for early morning ferry’s
- Kathleen (8/5): - Very small, convenient to ferry and train.
- Heidi (6/5): - The location was great. The keyless entry only works if you have a cell phone with data which was an issue for me. The AC unit dripped all night and made the carpet wet.
- Megan (8/5): - A bit smaller than I expected and the room had no windows, but otherwise a clean, quiet, convenient location. Perfect for a one night stop.
- Amy (8/5): Perfekt läge … - Allt bara bra förutom wifi som var under all kritik. Jätteskön säng och dusch.
- Angela (4/5): - Very stinky
- Belén (8/5): - La habitación es muy pequeña pero para lo que la hemos usados , suficiente.Algo cara de precio para lo pequeña que era ,podía tener una pequeña nevera,es un consejo.
- Dorothy (2/5): - I did not like any of it, the room was claustraphobic, the bed was to high. I actually fell from bed trying to get up and scraped my knee. There was no where to go to complain. Very very disappointed.
- Kevin (10/5): - Lovely room. Nice and dark at night for sleeping.
- Roger (8/5): - Facility new, well thoughtout for minimal size room. Perhaps interested; toilet drain leaked. Staff cleaned up and left extra towels. Very close trains, ferries, buses.
I did not receive all emails from property they claimed sent to Expedia. Finalizing the stay was not enjoyable experience.
- Aolani (6/5): - Overall was an easily accessible property, great location as it was near the train station and bus stands. Plenty of different food places nearby. Room was clean however, as there were no windows and it was such a small space, it was very hard to ventilate. Additionally, there is no front desk, which was not a problem in checking in as that is made quite simple, but is annoying during the stay as there was no one to quickly solve any issues that may arise. Would recommend for a short stay!
- Linsay (8/5): - Very small room but bed very comfortable, shower excellent, excellent location
- Russell (8/5): - Easy for the port and bus and railway, good nights sleep
- Sophie (10/5): - Great and easy, close to everything
- Douglas (10/5): - A little hard to find but it is a great little place to spend the night.
- Torbjörn (6/5): Svår hittat boende - Märkligt boende som var svårt att hitta. Rummet var helt utan fönster men otroligt fräscht. Funkar fint att bo en natt
- Debra (10/5): - C
- Julian (6/5): - Average. The location is excellent, but the room is tiny even for European standards. No windows, which makes the room incredibly dark. The bathroom faucet was so stiff, toilet roll holder was broken, and I'm pretty sure there is a leak at the bottom the bathroom drain. Desk space is almost non-existent and milk packages were rancid. Given the cost, I expected more.
- Sarah (6/5): - Loved the location. Didn’t like faucet in sink not properly plumbed in and could not get any hot water in the shower.
- Karen (6/5): - This is a bare bones hotel for budget travelers. It offered the basics. Pros-Great location right off the harbor near the ferry. Easy to walk to everything. Felt safe. Cons-Parking is not included (however free street parking from 6pm-9am), spotty WiFi and small rooms. We used Expedia to book the room and somehow we never received an email on how to check in from pier rooms or Expedia. Not sure why and no information on the pier rooms website. This made for a frustrating experience upon arrival. The fishing/tackle store next door was able to help us by calling the sister hotel to pier rooms- god bless David!! The staff was amazing with helping get our room key, the staff being the front desk girl at the hotel and the maids cleaning the rooms!! All in all this place is good for one night.
- Salvatore (10/5): Great stay clean - Great stay clean and modern very close to station and ferry port great sea food nearby to eat very close
- noreen (6/5): - Decor nice and clean but tiny and no windows. Bed not comfy. Hard to find the place.
- Michael (8/5): - Pier Rooms is well-suited to its purpose: a good noght’s sleep when in transit through Oban. Good bed, excellent shower, flexible lighting and a small tea kettle for quick caffeination in the morning. Basic tea and coffee are provided. TV above the bed with decent selection and smart TV capability for streaming. Ventilation could be better. CO2 role sharply overnight
- Megan (10/5): - This is a great spot for a good nights sleep. The rooms optimize space so it is meant to be a place to drop your bags. It’s clean well appointed and the value and location are phenomenal.
- Craig (6/5): - The complete absence of any natural light (no window or skylight) was odd.
- Sandy (10/5): So happy we booked again - We were looking for easy access to the railway station and ferry port - Pierrooms could not have been closer to both. The room is small but we were so impressed with the overall cleanliness and comfort of the beds that we booked again for our return journey.
The only improvement I would suggest is a small shelf for the top bunk.
- annie (10/5): - Excellent position next to ferry train station and in the busy part of town
The only downside, which I knew before booking, was the room was without a window but I would book again.
- James (10/5): - Good
- Caz (6/5): - It is tucked away and very hard to find. The room is tiny and there are no windows so it is quite claustrophobic. It was clean and super convenient though. It was over priced.
- Heather (6/5): Comfortable room but musty smelling bathroom - The room was small but I know that when I booked it. It had everything I needed and the bed was comfortable. The major issue was the musty, damp smell in the shower room. It's windowless accommodation and I think this is the problem, or maybe the ventilation in the bathroom is just poor. I'm sure it's something that can be fixed but the smell was bad, even with the door closed, which definitely affected my overall opinion of the property. If not for this I would stay again.
- Jeanne (6/5): - As long as your ok with no windows it is a cute tiny room. We didneed to open the door by AM to reduce the CO2 level (2 adults and got to 1450)
- Ben (6/5): Simple, cosy and quiet stay - Surprisingly quiet room given the location which was very nice. Very clean but compact room. Nowhere to hang towels, clothes etc. which was annoying. The price was way in excess of the value of the place but this seems to be common with Oban in general. It was a nice stay and met my needs though just a few areas for improvement and better pricing required.
- Maria (10/5): - Fantastic stay
- Alexander (10/5): A hidden gem - Very Clean with an excellent location in Oban.
- Verified traveler (6/5): Small modern room with no windows. - First thing to point out is that there are no windows in the rooms. Everything else is fine and modern, if a little compact. Good enough for a sleepover.
One room not completely cleaned though - toilet was dirty and not flushed. Enough said. Staff were good and available at the end of a phone as there is no one on site.
- Frank (10/5): - Everything was very nice
