Guest Reviews
- Louise (2/5): - Awful, checked out the same day!
- Paola (8/5): - It was great location and the beds were very comfortable. They accomodate it us a per request one thing though that I found that they did not reply to my messages through expedia like the other hotel we booked they replied right away, i waitied weeks for a reply and had to call myself to speak to them personally.
- candy (2/5): - Disgusting! You couldn't pay me to stay here again. The pictures are very old and do not represent the room at all. The towels haven't been changed in years and dirty with stains/hair. There was mold in the bathroom, the paint was falling off the walls. The furniture was beat up and dirty. The mattress was ok but surprised there wasn't bed bugs. If you care about cleanliness or general hygiene do not stay here. Front desk people were kind and that was the only pro.
- Shahna (4/5): - Where to start, first no elevator, luggage had to be carried up 2 flights of very steep stairs. No breakfast as stated on Expedia and hotels.com.
Only Netflix works and only after desk person came up and showed us how to use it. Even though our rm was ready @ 1330 we had to wait until 1500 to ck in but by the time we were acknowledged it was almost 1600. Other friends in hotel rms not ready until @ 1700. One had rm given away and one had broken bed! It was clean and our bed was good for 1 night and shower was nice and hot but I won’t recommend nor will I be staying again.
- amy (8/5): - ……..
- Jacqueline (6/5): - There was no elevator and very narrow stairs to take luggage upstairs. Some of the furniture was broken. Place was clean, but could use updating.
- Noah (10/5): - Staff were very accomodating and kind.
- MARIA VERONICA (6/5): - The entire experience was great for the price and location. If you are using the hotel only to sleep in is perfect. Near bars, Times Square and all broadway shows. Near subways stops and walkable distance of many attractions!
- Neeharika (6/5): - We only had this hotel for one night as we had driven into the city just for a show. We checked in around 10pm, and we were told that the room we had actually booked was already occupied, and the only room left was a small not-air-conditioned bunk bed with a bathroom that smelled funny in a room between the front desk and staircase that I think must have been an office before being converted to an extra room. We were told that “all the rooms are the same” and were denied any kind of discount or partial refund, even though this room was nothing like the photos of the room we booked. Staff was nice. The local area had lots of restaurants. The room did what it needed to do (give us a place to sleep for just one night), but I will not be returning. I can’t speak for how nice the regular rooms are.
- Patricia (2/5): - Nothing, it was filthy & we had to ask them to reclean our room. I took pictures & they did have housekeeping reclean, but I DO NOT recommended this hotel
- Glyn (8/5): - Great location, amazing staff! Room was clean, bathroom was average.
- Andrea (10/5): - Me gustó !!
- Fabian (10/5): - Loved the location of the property. Being from Texas the staff was very helpful.
- ANDY (8/5): - Very good location for all activities by walking neat times square
- Liesl (4/5): - Disappointing, not much pride and effort was put into maintaining this small room. TV crooked, Scuff marks on walls, but the absolute worst, was the squeaky bed that screeched with every movement. The room did not look like the pictures posted online. Used disinfectant wipes to properly clean the bedside tables and remotes. The tiled floors could have been swept better. We stayed in Room 102, which is the cheapest room, so hopefully the other rooms are better !?
The staff were amazing though, especially Minnie ! She was so kind and helpful, always smiling.
Coffee amenities were conveniently close to our room.
- Christopher (6/5): - You get what you pay for at this property. Clean towels had hairs in them, property run down and there was an unpleasant odor. However, if you dont care about accommodations because you're just there to sleep a few hours, this is fine. Its very conbenient to Restaurant Row and all the shows as you can walk everywhere.
- Yan (10/5): - First the front desk people are so nice and it was the easiest check in ever and there rooms are clean and they have a lrivate courtyard to seat n smoke or drink or just to relax and its super close to timesquare
- Mark (10/5): Likeable - Liked the location. Quite neighbor. Close but not to close to many sights. Good selection of places to eat nearby.
Will book here for next trip
- Cassandra (10/5): Great location , great staff - Great experience, affordable, accessible, great friendly staff that had 24 hr lobby service. Bed was very comfortable! Great location.
- Margaret (10/5): - Close to theater district and no fuss check-in and check out.
- Mouna (2/5): - Unfortunately, I don't recommend anyone to go to this hotel. I paid almost 300 USD for two nights in a room of my choice. When I arrived at the hotel, the receptionist simply told me that they were undergoing renovations and the only room they had available for me was an office converted from a room with no conditions whatsoever, no air conditioning. It was close to midnight and I had no alternative and had to subject myself to the terrible conditions they offered me. They didn't even give me a discount and everything was for nothing. I honestly felt completely disrespected.
- Jacqueline (2/5): - When i made it to the room. I walked in to a unclean floor. I had a hard time locking the window near the fire escape. The bathroom was scary with a lot of dust and mold. I was choking the moment i walked in the room. I couldn't breath because of the smell. I would not recommend this place.
- Lilysha (6/5): - It was a very nice and quiet stay. I did have a dead roach in my room and wasn’t able to regulate the AC.
- Verified traveler (6/5): Friendly staff…. - Staff seemed friendly, a wad of long black hair was stuck to the shower wall so I didn’t think the room was clean. Also a roach was in the bathroom day 2. I Got charged $50 to check in one hour early :-/
Location was convenient even tho it’s attached to abandoned buildings. $468 for 2 nights…. I probably won’t stay there again
- nathalie (4/5): - Overall, gave 2 stars because although the property is falling apart, the location is superb. But other than that, this was horrible. The bed was basically broken, the springs were horrendous. The bathroom was rusty and gross. The couple shampoos in the bathroom were just tossed in there with no care. Our mini fridge was broken, and our AC was broken. It’s late June in NYC, and they didn’t even mention to us. The TV worked fine and the sheets were clean. The room was barely cleaned as there was residue on the cabinets. Paying almost $200 a night for this was absolutely not worth it.
- Christopher (4/5): - Convenient location
- Michael (2/5): - Run
- Pedro Antonio (10/5): - Good place !!! Excelent attention 10/10
- Dennis (8/5): - Quaint little spot tucked nicely in Midtown
- Thomas (8/5): Great location for a decent price - Quiet and a good value. Great location and friendly staff. At check-in the credit card system was down so I had to get cash. Not a big deal, but still. Room was clean but smelled of the cleanser. There was not a fan in the bathroom which may explain the mold around the walls near the ceiling.
All in all just minor problems that did not distract from a good stay at a reasonable price.
- Yazmin (6/5): - Walkable distance to
- Verified traveler (4/5): Uncomfortable stay - The room was clean albeit dated. The mattress was sagging in the middle. There were bugs in the lights, and bug stains on the ceiling. The side lamp by the bed didn't work. No cups or coffee in the room. You could hear everyone walking around in the room above and beside. Couldn't control temperature so it was lucky that it was 65 degrees so I didn't need A/C or heat. Not a comfortable stay. I stay at many basic hotels and just need a bed to sleep, but I will not stay here again.
- Michael (6/5): - Bathroom wasn't very clean, AC didn't work well, lighting was not very good, towels were small and light. Location was great.
Reception was not really friendly or helpful at check in.
- Stella (10/5): - Perfect hotel for an overnight in New York. The room was quite nice, and the hotel itself was conveniently located. Would definitely book again.
- Linda (10/5): - Staff was friendly and helpful. Simple accommodations in a great location near restaurants, transportation, bars, poet authority. Bed was comfortable and AC worked
- mark (4/5): Below average room quality. Great location. - The staff of young people was wonderful. The location is wonderful.
The hotel it’s self left a lot to be desired. It needs upgrades. We were first given room 105. The bed was broken and off the frame. We slept on it, barely. The next morning we removed the mattress and box spring and fixed the bed. Right after we finished doing that we were asked if we could move to a different room. No explanation given other than they needed the room for someone else. We changed room to room 302. Now a third floor walk up. The TV did not work in the new room so we immediately told the front desk and were told it would be fixed. The tv never was fixed so we didn’t have tv. The heat also did not work in the new room, only the fan/ac.
It was 500$+ for two nights……
- Virgilio (8/5): - Although, they do not have an elevator to get my suitcases up, the employees helped me.
- Sandra (4/5): Bad all around - Although the hotel was accommodating with keeping luggage free of charge, there were a lot of problems. The shower lever was nearly impossible to lift. There was no hot water in the sink (it had been turned off). The concierge was incredibly loud - despite their own rule of quiet hours from 9pm-9am). At 1am, I opened my door to shush him and at 1:30am, I again had to open the door and tell him to be quiet. The young lady at day of check in was nice but their printer did not work and she wanted to keep my DL overnight. I told her no and she finally took a picture of it. Location was convenient to the they’re but I would not recommend this hotel to anyone.
- Stephanie (8/5): Great place! - Loved the location of the hotel. Heading east on 46th st, there were a lot of nighttime bars, restaurants, breakfast options, pizza places which was so convenient. Area felt super safe. Vanessa and the guy who check people in/out were nice. If you want to check in early, there is a $30 fee. If you are taking big luggage(s), be prepared to carry up flight of stairs, as there is no elevator. Microwave, ice, coffee is available on the main floor. The room itself was nice. The bed was comfy, as well as the pillows. There is a closet and microwave in the room. Bathroom had no vent for hot showers so make sure to close door as it will get hot in the room. AC available in room. Shower pressure hit the spot. Yes, there are signs of wear but if you’re looking for a place close to time square or the subway, and you’re not worried about it and are trying to save money, this is the spot! Overall, great place and will definitely book again!
- Verified traveler (2/5): Zero stars if could- poorest customer service ever - Booked, day of receive and email 3 hours before check in stating they will not be able to accommodate us due to a “plumbing issue” and then proceeded to not cancel the reservation and would not respond to hotels.com customer support when I reached out to them to assist in getting us a new place to stay on such short notice. Woman at the desk was very rude and proceeded to talk trash about us in a different language while I was on the phone with hotels.com fixing their problem.
- Charles (2/5): Untolerable - The hotel cancel the reservation without effective notice.
- Heather (8/5): - Our stay was very nice at this hotel. We picked it for the convenience of the location to a theater, and the bonus was that it was on Restaurant Row. The staff were friendly and very helpful. Our room was nice, however the bathroom was not the cleanest. There was leftover used soap in the shower, and some hair.
- Bobbie (2/5): - Our feet stuck to the floor. The sheets were stained. The bed was too big for the room so there wasn't enough room to walk around. There were no night stands and no closet. There were 2 remotes and neither turned on the TV. The windows looked into a utility room!? The dresser was missing a handle. There was a desk turned around backwards with no chair. The staff was nice and helpful but it was literally the worst accomodations I've ever stayed in. It is more of a hostel than a hotel. Very shabby and dirty.
- Logan (8/5): - 414 was a good stay, hosts were great, we felt safe the entire time, close to time square and broadway area, bed was comfy, couldn’t of asked for a better stay in New York. Worth what you pay
- Elna (2/5): - I got to the hotel to be told my room was been given away, despite advising them my flight was delayed in Peru. They took me to a hotel all the way at JFK that smelled like cigarette smoke. The next morning, despite being told they will arrange my transfer back to the hotel, I had to arrange and pay my own transfers back. I emailed them my receipt but I still have not been refunded. I booked this trip 4 months ago, it was the worst experience I have ever had!!!!!!!
- Verified traveler (6/5): Fine if you need a quick cheap night in the City - The hotel didn’t have my reservation, despite (luckily) copious confirmations I received via email and text. The girl at the front made it work, thankfully. You have to be let in the front door every time you need to go in- but half the time the person is not paying attention- on their phone or otherwise doing something else (not hotel related). The overall place was very shabby. Towels and linens were clean, though. No way to adjust the heat and no extra blankets provided, though we were on a “freeze” watch… and at the end the guy at the checkout was genuinely perplexed that I asked for a receipt.
- Heather (2/5): - Canceled resorvstion
- Michael (8/5): - Vanessa at the front desk was very helpful and friendly. Would stay at hotel again when I'm in NY city.
- Mario (6/5): - Unfortunately as soon as I walk in the room I found used toilet paper on the floor. I can’t complain about anything else. The location is very convenient and the staff is very friendly.
- Kakha (10/5): Love it here - Love this hotel very nice personal front office mendi and Sara they are best and very friendly and very supportive
Love u guys and I will always come to stay Becous of ur service and hospitality plas rooms are nice and veniu is close to everywhere
- Melissa (4/5): - The window didn’t lock, and it led to the fire exit. I found a lighter and plastic in my bed and hair on my sheets. It looked like someone was sleeping in my bed. And there was no connection to my TV. Also there are no elevators to this place, so you will have to carry your luggage upstairs. The staff is nice but the room was terrible.
- MARIANNETTE (8/5): - Location was perfect for our trip
- Florencia (6/5): - It is a warm and cozy hotel for a short trip. There was no toilet papaer in the room, and breakfast did not exist, just a cup of coffee. Clean bed sheets and towels. Service all right
- Tamra (6/5): Cheap room in NYC - you get what you pay for - We were able to check in early for $25. Room was small, but clean. Lock is sketchy - number key pad that probably doesn't get changed often. Smart TV kept going back to the Home Screen. Toilet ran constantly. Couldn’t adjust temperature. Great location to Broadway & Time Sqaure. Front staff was often sleeping in the corner, but always available.
- ashwani (4/5): - Property with 4 floors, two blocks (front and back).
No lift available. Use only stairs.
And worse, the receptionist (Sara & Vinessa) allocated room on 4th floor (401) and receptionist does not knows, in which block this room is located. I went up 4 floors with luggage to realize that my allocated room is in different block. And the receptionist is least interested.
Again went up four floors with luggage to reach 401.
Electronic lock pad not working in room 401. so no way of closing the room... its always open..
Again go down to reception to inform about non functional electronic lock of 401. Receptionist gave room 402 and after climbing 12 floors (4x3), could enter room...
The "disinterest in work" by receptionist (or any employee) is worst for any company.
And finally, even though the hotel stay is already paid to Expedia, the receptionist refused to acknowledge this and demanded to pay again (I did it and informned to Expedia team).
To the property:
- Please treat guests with respect.
- We are not staying for free. We already paid before knocking your door.
- Anthony (6/5): Short Stay - I had difficult time Check -In because the front desk couldn't find my stay even though I gave him my Res#. when I checked out that same day at 10:45pm now there's no one a front desk. SMH. It was a short stay because i just needed some sleep from getting off that morning and not able to commute home that day.
- Kevin (6/5): - Did not appear to be ready to open as a full service hotel. From no scoop to dip out ice, no wifi access code available in the room, no phone or instructions on how to reach the attendant, had to wait 5 minutes in the cold for someone to open the door late at night. Security code to room was overly simple and easily hackable. The place was nice, but just didn't seem ready to open.
- Vic (4/5): - Our double room was small
- Louis (2/5): - Tv did not work! No control of heat! Bathroom dirty. Code to door is the same as room number! Not safe! Not clean!
- Tom (6/5): Cheap and was OK enough - So this was a cheap, quick booking in NYC close to NYE that we didn't have high expectations.
Given that, it was a decent enough place that looks like it had been remodeled on some level in the last couple of years. Was good to see that there was a fridge in the room and finding a room with a private bathroom at this price point is near impossible in NYC, so if your expectations are tempered properly, this is a decent stay.
Paint job update was not professional it seems, but they tried.
Bathroom is adequate and, again, at this price point you normally would have a shared bathroom, so probably can't find a better deal.
I slept fine on the bed and found it comfortable but my wife didn't like it. We usually bring our own pillows as we don't trust hotel pillows.
No elevator so be prepared to probably go upstairs but it's not too bad if you can do that.
No keys - room has a specific code which could be less secure but you can't even get in the building without someone letting you in, so it probably isn't too bad.
WiFi seemed fine. TV is an Amazon Fire TV that worked OK, though the TV remote was kind of beat up (worked fine). It was in Spanish so I had to change it to English, but if you know what you are doing it isn't that hard (we use Fire Stick at home, so it was easy to change it for me).
All in all, if you are trying to save a buck staying in NYC, close to Times Square with plenty of good eating around you and you want the privacy of private bathroom, try here.
- Emily (4/5): Stay - Had to ring a doorbell to get someone to come to the door. Waited 5 mins for someone to come let us in. Once we got in for check in very sketchy with the process.no keys were provided rather a keyless entry in which the passcode was universal to the whole hotel and anyone could break into another room. Left for the day to go adventure the city got back later in the night and the doorbell wasn’t working nor was there someone at the desk. Had to knock on the door multiple times. The room itself was very bear minimum and could not adjust the heat.
- Kassie (8/5): - It’s safe to stay here really close to interesting places.
- Valerie (4/5): - Enter the rooms unanounced , No Cleanings in 3 nights for rooms, had to beg for new towels
- Samirah (2/5): - Dirty and appliance did not work.
- Leslie (10/5): I gave it a chance - I am a New Yorker who has stayed at many hotel's in the city! I needed a not overpriced hotel for New Year's Eve. I took a chance at this little place. Much to my surprise it was okay. The cleaning supplies were a bit overwhelming as far a smell but i found the place clean. The room was pretty big for the city. Had good storage for a longer stay and on a pretty quiet part of the street.
Very basic but bed was comfy and clean and so was the shower. The customer service was nice. Able to store my luggage which was locked up for safety. The building was secure. Its a great little no frills hotel. I will definitely stay again.
- Tonia (4/5): - It was close to Broafway shows.
- James (10/5): - Good place to stay with great location
- Rominkumar (6/5): - Room was small but they let us stay for an extra hour which was really helpful
- Yahn (2/5): - Worst experience
- mark (10/5): - Nice cleac
- antonio (10/5): - Great experience staff suoer friendly clean and affordable definitely i will stay again here 😀
- Cheryl Lynn (2/5): - So bad we couldn’t stay the night. Cockroach spray saturated the air of this dirty hotel. Bathrooms were dirty and the doors open with the room number entered into a keypad. There was no way to secure the door from the inside. This place needs a lot of work.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Nice location - Hotel was nice. To get into the hotel, you need to ring the bell and wait for someone to come to the door. Found out on my last day the bell was broken. Room was a little cold, but not terribly cold. Very nice location minutes away from Times Square.
- Evelyn Quiles (4/5): - Ese cuarto estaba super super sucio un ruido muy fuerte
- Claire (4/5): If necessary, okay; otherwise, caveat emptor - For the price, it is what it is. The night clerk - there is only ever one - took forever to find my booking, several minutes to answer the door each time, and was busy caring for a couple complaining about the quality of the two rooms they'd been shown (and screaming warnings at us about it saying not to stay there). Only later in the night did we realize the room has only half a roll of toilet roll and only one set of towels, despite having two guests.
The room itself was clean enough, but hair in the bathroom, paint spots on the floor, only one sheet and a duvet (in winter!), an uncontrollable radiator guests can't reach to close the valve (it was boiling), and no sound insulation made for an uncomfortable stay with little rest. Additionally, the sink had no hot water. (The shower did and water pressure was good, for note.) The bed itself was comfortable, but a blanket or even a separate sheet would be nice.
I had thought of booking again, and the day clerk was very nice in putting in my request for the same room. Frankly, seeing people walked from one room to another and coming out telling how mattresses were in floors, there were bugs, and more did not add to my confidence.
We used to live a few blocks away and I know these are old buildings. That doesn't mean basic cleanliness, extra toilet roll, towels, and a blanket in the winter wouldn't be expected.
- Therese (2/5): Absolutely horrible - When I arrived at the hotel, an extremely rude and arrogant person was standing at the door with a laptop advising anyone who booked their room through Hotels.com had the reservation canceled. I didn't receive an email or text message that this was the case. This person did not give a damn that I had no room and made no attempt to help me or contact Hotels.com about it. Fast forward to Monday, I calledthe customer service at Hotels.com and Martin was very nice. I received an email and this crummy hotel had not returned my money or have they returned any call or message from Hotels.com.
- Nicholas (4/5): - Good location for the theater area, and cheap price. But dirty hotel, no room cleaning services, common areas not cleaned, and room was bad (tv didn’t work, bathroom needed painting, and bathroom caulking molded). Bed was comfortable. Essentially you get what you pay for. Also no elevator. Won’t be staying there again.
- Brianna (2/5): - Did not enjoy. Room was dirty. There were bugs in the bathroom. Only one man working.
- Bryan (6/5): - Normal
- Stephanie (4/5): - It was very quiet on a cute nice street. The bed was comfortable. The bathroom was dirty and had bugs.
- Rafal (4/5): Dirty and insects - Very dirty room. Eoom was not cleaned after previous guests!!! I have a lot of pictures from our check in. Windows were not voiceless. You will hear everything. Very cold. We had insects in the room( also.pictures) . We stayed 8 nghts and no cleaning service all time... even charging toilet paper. Very very Very dirty room. One and big advantage was location
- Daniel (2/5): - Terrible staff and management. Stay away.
- Janette (2/5): - Infestation
- Lesyk (4/5): - Location for the price is pretty great, but for another $400 in addition to the thousand I spent here for four night I could have had a bed and dresser that wasn’t broken, a room free of cockroaches, a clean room, sheets not stained with blood and some yellow stuff, etc etc. so if you’re pinching Pennie’s it’s perfect
- Milena (10/5): - Convenient location, decent amenities and very helpful staff
- maurine (2/5): - Good location for the theaters.
- Rene (10/5): - Ok
- Jali (2/5): - This property does not look as advertised. DO NOT BOOK. There is only one staff member on duty. The building is extremely dirty.
- Jim (2/5): Do not stay here - One of the worst hotels I’ve ever visited. Room was filthy. It’s extremely unsafe. To access the room you enter a code on a key code on door. Pin is same number as room number. Attendant at front speaks little to no English so cannot help. Absolutely abominable.
