Guest Reviews
- Jennifer (10/5): - Lumina is a beautiful home. We enjoyed our stay, and highly recommend this rental.
- Murad (10/5): - We had a three day stay at Lumina Valley View Monteverde in April 2025.
The house is very spacious, modern and comfortable. It has an amazing gourmet kitchen (love the waterfall style granite countertop!) and a great view with a lovely, vibrant orange sunset. Lovely furnishings and decor. Also ample hot water, AC and strong Wifi. Note that this location is a little far out so not walkable to any amenities.
Our host Glenda, who is a native of Monteverde, was amazing. She made our stay comfortable with the little things including some complimentary breakfast items (breads, coffee and jam) and lots of suggestions on what to do and see around the area. There was no driver available, and she took it upon herself to pick us up from La Fortuna and drive us around during our stay, then dropping us all the way in San Jose.
If you're looking for quiet, secluded luxury in Costa Rica with a host that really cares about her clients, this is a great experience for you and your family.
- Tim (4/5): So disappointing I had to write a review - The house is as beautiful as the pictures, but our stay could have been a lot better. The pin that was sent is not the location of the house. The pin takes you past the house. There is no cell service where the house is (and the wifi is locked), so when we arrived, there was no way for us to access our email to get the entry code. We had to drive halfway down the mountain to get a code, then return and let ourselves in. There was no information - no maps, no instructions. We found the wifi password by accident - it was written on the third to the last page of the guestbook. In the kitchen were three moldy limes. The cupboard next to the refrigerator had cobwebs and two spiders in it and smelled of mold. There is a house next door with a dog who barked until 2am the night we were there. The mattress in the bedroom is cheap. The lighting in the bedroom is similar to that of an operating room. There is nothing in the refrigerator other than cans of imperial beer you can buy for $4 or wine you can buy for $96. We received an email from the host saying he or she would be at the house (all communication in Spanish) at 5pm. We were not at the house at that time. The host did not ask when we were arriving. We never saw a host. There is a lot recently cleared to the west of the house where I assume construction of another house will soon begin (we were at the house 12/28/24).
