- Ferne (8/5): - Did not have an opportunity to eat at the buffet. Room was clean staff was great. My only issue was with the Hotels.com reservation. The website registered me for a “suite” with a king and I reserved two queens. The staff fixed it and were great but what a hassle for all of us.

- Robert (6/5): - No WIFI for the whole time!!!! I'm not glued to my phone every second of the day but being able to use my phone for videos if I can't watch TV would be nice. I cannot believe this was not a priority in this age of tech. The staff was very nice and breakfast was good, even the bed was pretty comfortable - like a firmer mattress. BUT the convenience of turning on the TV to get some AM news, weather etc. and some noise at night, FIX the WIFI!!!! The hotel was one of the most reasonably priced in Shepherdstown. Having a pharmacy, Food Lion, Italian and Chinese restaurants and a gas station close by was nice.
- Donna (2/5): - The room I was assigned would not open - myself and staff tried but door refused to open - Room 3316. I was transferred to Room 307, tv did not work, there was no hair dryer, shampoo and conditioner bottles were empty. I was transferred to Room 100 - there was no hair dryer, no coffee pot in room but there were supplies to make coffee and tea in the room. housekeeping was notified to provide a hair dryer but they couldn't. Reason being , as per the staff, they didn't have any. This Quality Inn was a horrible experience.

- Amy (8/5): - I'm so happy there is a good motel in Shepherdstown! I stayed at this motel for 5 nights while attending the CATF at Shepherd University. The motel is still in the process of being renovated, so a few standard motel-pieces are missing (I could never find an ice machine, for instance). The staff are super-nice and helpful, and the rooms are extremely clean. The neighborhood is safe. Fast food, a good pizza place and a grocery store are within walking distance, and a 24-hour gas station is just across the road. I would definitely stay here again.

Some opportunities for improvement from our recent stay...the bathroom door scraped the toilet bowl in order to open or close; the clock kept flashing different numbers unrelated to time of day; the TV remote was useless, and the breakfast buffet came up way short of expectation. Hopefully management will correct some of these issues, as the location and overall esthetics of this property are very good.

- Tracy (2/5): Book Anywhere Else! - I've stayed at about 25 locations during the past year; most great, some average. I’m not a complainer but this place is literally hazardous. I’ve since learned that the hotel has been shut down for a long time and just reopened, which may explain the good (OLD) reviews. I booked a 2-night stay but left the next day. BULLET POINTS: Place deserted; only people were staff. Language barrier; no biggie but I had to use translation app to check in. Only room “ready” was handicapped. I said no problem. Tired, I went to bed without showering. Got up to pee and slipped on bathroom floor; it was soaked. Put towels down and went back to sleep. Around 5 a.m. floor had dried, but by 7-ish, was soaked again. I saw several areas of water dripping from the ceiling including bath, entry area and the room itself. Air was so humid, my chest and lungs literally hurt, felt congested and heavy. Walking barefoot, even carpet was damp. I put on shoes, stepped on paper towels, saw my footprints come through. I left and checked into another hotel even though I’d prepaid two nights. When leaving, there was nobody to be found anywhere. No staff, no guests. Finally found a fellow in the laundry who didn’t speak English and when I pointed at front desk, he just shrugged. Can you say, Creepy??? I kept calling, “Hello? Hello? Anybody here?” Waited by the front desk at least 10 minutes. Loaded my car and tried again 10-15 minutes later and still nobody. CAVEAT EMPTOR: I’ve had several great bookings w

The refrigerator didnt work. Told front desk. The next morning told front desk was checking out due to the reasons. Was told they didnt know how to refund me a day stay that gm would contact me and 2 days later hadnt heard from the gm and still charged me 2 days with me just staying one night.mad as heck

The dining area was very small and could get crowded easily. No problems. Minor issue...plug to tub had no chain or way to stay open, so it had to be put to the side to shower. Only stayed one night due to electrical failure in area.

Thought the place was deserted when I drove up as there were no cars in the lot. Turns out just very few customers on a Thursday night. Great breakfast spread even though I swear I think I was the only guest.

The hotel was run down, not very clean, and dark. The courtesy bottles (lotion, shampoo, conditioner) in our room were half-used. The wifi didn't work, the instructions in the book were for the Comfort Inn, and no one answered when we tried to call the front desk. We chose the hotel because it advertised free breakfast, but there was no hot breakfast because of Christmas. It wasn't *awful*, but there were just so many missed chances to make a pleasant experience for guests.

We had our little dog with us and we had no issues. The comfort of the beds was fair but ok for 1 night. The hotel is next to a pharmacy, McDonalds, grocery store, etc and only about a mile outside of Shepherdstown so very convenient. The continental breakfast was about average quality.

- Joe (4/5): - I shared the room w/ two queen sized beds. There was a desk, chest of drawers, a separate television stand. It was cramped. The closet door was off its rails. The bathroom sink was separate from the toilet and shower/tub. So it was part of the sleeping area. I didn’t like that as it contributed to the room feeling cramped. The HVAC was a wall unit which had a wet rug under it which made the room smell musty. The breakfast that was included looked unappetizing.

- David (4/5): Disappointed - Their web site lists pet fee as 10.00 and was 10.00 in previous stays. They charged us a 20.00 pet fee thier excuse was their web site is out dated. Opened the door to the room and was hit with a damp musty odor. We will go elsewhere for future visits to the area

While the breakfast was a nice feature, the coffee machine in my room did not work and the refrigerator looked as if it had never been thawed out for cleaning. There was much ice buildup from the freezer. The clerk could have suggested some form of entertainment around the area. I found myself engaging the person and trying to hard to get information about the area.

- Hannah (8/5): Quality - I was visiting Shepherd University; the hotel was perfectly placed, as it was less than a five minute drive to the Wellness Center where I was visiting. The room was a little run down, but it was clean and quiet. Great for my single night stay, and I would consider staying for more than one night in the future.

On walking in to reception the breakfast area was behind us and had some tables and chairs stacked up. It was tiny and depressing. We didnt stay but moved on staying an extra night in Manassas.

- David (10/5): Perfectly Clean Hotel with Great Service - Hotel was really, really great. Not too far from Antietam that we were visiting. The service was fantastic. The breakfast was a little better than what I would have expected (wasn't expecting sausage). My only minor issue was the blinking lights. The phone, the smoke detector, and something else (the hair dryer maybe) were blinking. Nothing that a towel wouldn't fix, but it was there none the less.
- Verified traveler (6/5): weekend trip to sheperdstown - This was a weekend getaway for our family. It was close to Harper's Ferry, West Virginia. We liked staying in Shepherstown which is only 10 miles from the National Park, and a few more miles to Charles Town. Nice small town, with lots to do, very nice arts and music scene. Great little restaurants on main street, not to0 expensive. We went white water rafting, hiking on the Appalachian trail as well. It was a great weekend. The Quality Inn was decent, clean, and the front staff couldn't have been nicer.

The hotel is across the street from a grocery store and a Goodwill (in retirement communities like Shepherdstown, Goodwill is a treasure trove), so thus the n'hd rating. The room, though, had bad mattresses, and lots of mold smell. Breakfast buffet had good variety. Best benefit was free day pass to sister hotel's pool/exercise/spa facility at Clarion, availability dependent on occupancy rate. Thanks to Phyllis for that info. Definitely get an upper floor room to avoid mold. Hotel takes pets.
- Vicky (8/5): Good hotel near town - The hotel seems fairly new and is well-maintained. Room was spacious & clean! The front desk guy was very pleasant and helpful. Hotel is located a mile or so from the main drag in Shepherdstown, which is surprisingly full of places to eat, etc. Cool little town. If you're not up for that, the hotel is right across from a supermarket, rite-aid, McDs, DQ. Located just a few miles from Antietam Battlefield/Nat'l. Park. Perfect place to stay if you're in the area.

Our room was non smoking and it did not smell of smoke. Just be aware hallways have very strong smoke odor.

This was especially remarkable because we didn't check in until 11:45 p.m. on Friday evening and didn't realize it wasn't working until 12:30 p.m. The front desk lady was very attentive (especially given the hour) and got us squared away quickly.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Didn't know it was pet friendly - I'm very asthmatic so I was so concerned when I found out it was pet friendly upon checking in. Breakfast area too crowded, hard to move. Not enough food. Can hear toilets flushing from room next door and it's not just a normal flash but loud that wakes you in the night.

- 197Chevy (6/5): pretty good stay - our room was non smoking, but the entire floor smelled strongly of cigarettes, they never cleaned the wall paper, carpets or ceiling tiles on the floor... the locking door to the next room allowed too much noise to pass through. will look for a better place next time.
- Summerstory (6/5): Good location - For over $100 per night, you're definitely paying for the location here. Close to cute restaurants and shops in town. Still have to drive but maybe a mile away. Beds are not that comfy, neither are pillows, but room is clean. Staff is friendly except the breakfast lady who refills empty coffee containers, other supplies. Yikes! Breakfast was free and quite nice! Just don't attempt to talk to the lady working there, perhaps not a morning person...
- Paulinwhct (8/5): More fune than we have right to expect from this chain level - This is a Comfort Inn, after all, not higher up on the chain's levels. BUT.... highly satisfactory workout room, and Free Access to the fancier one at the Clarion a short distance away. Computer at the ready so you don't have to bring the laptop. The usual "continental" breakfast one expects from the chain. Added fun: 1) Pet friendly.... so lots of doggies running around; 2) Such a delightful and helpful staff... down home folks. Location is ideal if looking to get by frugally....yes, this town has some wonderful restaurants, but parking on that major drag has gotten to BE a drag...and here at the Comfort Inn you have a supermarket and a couple of eateries just across the street.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Shepherdstown hotel stay - We were in Shepherdstown for the Contemporary American Theater Festival. We wish the hotel were a little closer -- walking distance -- to the campus. We were also surprised there was no literature about the festival at the hotel or effort to make theatergoers feel welcome. Most of the guests that weekend appeared to be there for the festival. The toilet seat in our room was old and chipped and not fully attached. The A/C was very difficult to control -- it was either full on or completely off. The bedspreads, linens and pillow cases need updating and the style of bedding should be more up-to-date, with sheets covering the blankets. The service was swift and friendly, and the breakfast was tasty and ample, although the breakfast room is way too small.

- Verified traveler (10/5): Check in very pleasant & helpful - The purpose of my stay was to have someplace to stay while I registered my child for Shepherd University. When I checked in, the lady at the desk was very nice and helpful. The hotel and room were both very clean. The breakfast was good. The rate was the best one in town. If I need to stay in Shepherdstown again I will definitely stay here!

- Rick (8/5): Good location - Great location to see the Civil War Battle Fields in the area. They was a couple of snow piles pushed up into a corner of the parking lot from the week before I think. Being from Florida my son (9) had a ball making and throwing snow balls at me and mom. He really enjoyed seeing Ground Hogs at Antietam Battle Field.
- Chrissy (6/5): Ok for an overnight visit - The Hotel staff was excellent and very informative and helpful. The rooms were small compare to other hotels and the beds were low to the ground and hard. To me a bed makes all the difference in a hotel and these beds were old and outdated.
- Mr. Charlie (8/5): Nice hotel near historical sites. - Everything was fine except breakfast the first morning. I had to tell the front desk that the hot food was all gone. It was only 9:10 am with almost an hour left for breakfast. I noticed several guests come and go with out because of it. The employee responsible was wearing a bad attitude and didn't give a flip. Additional the coffee was luke warm. The second morning everything was great! :) A different employee was taking care of everything. She had plenty of hot food and coffee. She was very nice and pleasant. She greeted us and was happy to see us. Gave me a good start to the day. Thank you!
- Ma (8/5): Nice hotel - All good, but a lot of bicyclists gathered at breakfast before their ride/race & food was gone for breakfast fast. I asked breakfast hostess for more & she immediately went to get more for our family. Afterwards asking if she could do more. They made things right --& right away. Thanks
- Jenn Carr (10/5): First time to Shepardstown...cute university town - The staff was very helpful as we arrived at 2 pm, one and a half hours prior to check-in. Our problem was that we had to change and be at a wedding by 3:30 pm. As we used the restrooms to change in, the staff hustled and got us into our room an hour earlier. Great customer service!!

- Mickey (2/5): Smoke filled hotel - We checked out one day early due to the level of smoke smell throughout the hotel, including our room. We both spent the first day coughing and hacking due to the smoke smell and smell of chemicals they used to cover the smell. ALL employees spent most of their time sitting on a bench out the front door smoking with the door to the hotel lobby open....this included the maid and front desk personnel. This hotel needs to have a professional company come in and "de-smoke"....until then, AVOID at all costs.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Hotel cleanliness - The room was very clean, along with the bathroom and the air condition worked very well, also we really appreciated the breakfast... and the nice staff, this is the second time we have stayed at this hotel, we have family in Sharpsburg and it is very convenient to stay there and the price of the room was great.
- Jin (6/5): Needs improvement - It is pretty much what I expected. However, the beds are horrible. Yuk...thin matresses and not comfortable. Just a low end motel...not trash at all but not much. Did appreciate the mini fridge and micro. Ice machine and soda machine broken!
