Guest Reviews
- Sarah (6/5): - We decided to stay in Cloquet for the night instead of paying a lot more to stay in Duluth for our trip. It was in a good location, staff was very friendly, however the 2 queen beds we got were extremely uncomfortable. Every time you rolled you could hear and feel the springs in the mattress. I would highly recommend you replace them asap. We both woke up with sore backs.
- Bruce (10/5): - Vey clean room. Updated with electric, lights, etc. The shower was clean and worked well. Overall, very satisfied.
- James (6/5): - The bathroom was definitely not cleaned. Well there was still items on the floor from the previous guests dirty behind toilet and in the corners. The bedspread had dried crusty stuff on it. A gentleman working at the front counter was kind and courteous.
- Matthew (8/5): - Although the property is a little older as well, taken care of and clean. The staff are the best part of this place. They were responsive and warm. Thanks!
- Hans (2/5): - They charged us $70.00 more than the rserved price without explanation. The mattress closest to the bathroom had broken springs that made it unusable. Both beds made loud clanking noises when you turned over in them.
- Veronica (10/5): - The room was kind of small but we didn't spend much time there, so it was perfect. Very clean, comfortable and staff was more than accomodating. Perkins was right next door so we ate breakfast there each morning. There was a Continental Breakfast at the hotel but where we live there's no Perkins. The continental breakfast had Egg McMuffins, Pastries and Coffee which would be very convenient for early risers. Shopping was across the street at Walmart with more Shopping just up the road. All in all, we would definetly recommend this property to everyone who wants a clean, comfortable room at a great price. Kudos to Expedia for helping us find this little gem.
- Mark (8/5): - Problem with hotel or Expedia, requested 2 rooms on main floor unless had an elevator. Got the 2 rooms on second floor, no elevator, and couldn't have been further apart. Parties in both rooms have difficulty with stairs. Very disappointed. Other thing were the toilets. Not made for adults, sit very low.
- William (10/5): - Good place and cheaper than most.
- Christie (10/5): - Nice hotel, clean.
- Caroline (10/5): - I liked the accommodations. The staff were able to take care of any questions that I had quickly and made it very easy for my husband and myself. This was "The Best Stay" for us. Thank you so very much.
- Caroline (10/5): - My husband and myself like the fact that the staff was so accommodating.
But when we wanted to stay a third day this woan went crazy on my husb.My husband said that the young man was vveey accommodating. He was going to stay another night because i had to stsy in tye hospital anoth night. So he just drove home whi c h was an 1hour and a half away.
I akm not happy about that and won't stay there again because if the staff behavior
- Darwin (10/5): - Clean room....quiet
- Roberta (10/5): - Great place to stop and really nice to find places to shop and eat. Staff was young need to work on their personality traits, Very rude and k
- jok (10/5): - Nice large clean rooms Affordable price Close to Black Bear casino and 15 minutes to shopping in Hermantown(millerhill Mall) Lots of dining options nearby
- Karen (10/5): - Everything worked here and the breakfast was amazing.
- Perry (6/5): - The Hotel was nice. But the mattress was horrible. Like sleeping on a board. And the pillows werent much better.
- Todd (8/5): - The room was clean, it had a fridge, a microwave, and complimentary breakfast.
- Teri (10/5): - Excellent customer service. Very quiet. Very clean.
- Sherrie (10/5): - Toilet handle didn’t work properly.
Very nice young man on duty at check in.
- Mark (10/5): Great place to stay. - Perfect place for a quick stay. Breakfast was great. Everything worked. Got in late, left early. No hassle.
- David (10/5): - The room was clean and the receptionist was very accommodating.
- Greg (8/5): - Staff was cordial. Bathroom clean. Priced well
- Roger (8/5): - Efficient check-in and check-out. Bed was comfortable. We were upgraded to the "Captain's Quarters" - nice room and decor. One downfall was the small shower.
- Lynn (10/5): - The room was cleaned; however, there's no lotion in the bathroom
- Ron (8/5): - Room was nice, clean and comfortable. If not for the person in the room above us walking so heavy footed very early in the morning,it would have been great!
- Verified traveler (4/5): Super 8 turned out to be Blooper 8. - I requested and received a confirmation for a NON-smoking room. A couple of days before my stay I called with a question and was told my room was a smoking room. After explaining I had allergies and wanted a room change, I was told the only way to make a change was to upgrade to a more expensive room ($25 more). Of course I argued that I had a confirmation for a non-smoking room but there was no negotiating with these folks. Expedia tried to intervene but hotel staff/management would not budge because there was a major event going on in town and they knew they could sell the room if I changed - which I would have gladly changed hotels but they were all full due to the event.
Upon arrival, I showed management my confirmation notice, they still refused a change - or even a discount of any sort because that would displease the owners. The room we got had a terrible smell (due to smoking) but we were pretty much stuck since all hotels nearby were full. Staff were friendly. Not much variety in the breakfast but what they had was pretty good.
- Carlota (4/5): ugly hotel - they give us a smike room. Marathon runner in a smoking room. Breackfast was poor and improvised.
getting there was a meds
- Colette (8/5): Comfortable, clean place to stay. - Stayed two nights in clean, comfortable room. Quiet. Friendly staff. Room could use a little TLC as far as hair dryer screws and screws on headboard being stripped. All in all, a very reasonable rate. Would have no problem staying there again. Also very convenient location as it is close to grocery store, restaurants and gas stations.
- Jill (8/5): Cheap hotel. - It smelled of smoke when we walked in the hotel. We just needed a cheap hotel to stay overnight, so ok for that.
- dog mom (10/5): Very clean, especially for dog friendly! - It's tough to find a decent, reasonably priced dog friendly hotel. This place was fantastic! Visibly clean, AND my dog even seemed to think it was clean - no obsessively sniffing the carpet or licking the bedspread :) will definitely stay here again!
- Verified traveler (4/5): - Nice hotel with very friendly staff. Rooms are clean and comfortable. However the whole hotel had a very strong smell from smoking. Even though there were no smoking signs all over, the smell was pervasive especially near the lobby.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Good value for price - Clerk behind the counter was very helpful and accommodating. Quiet overall except at night was able to make out a rather loud patron bouncing down the stairs. The TV stopped working, so slight inconvenience, could not watch in the am.
- Retired Disable (10/5): Unexpected shining Star - Last minute birthday trip out of the Twin Cities. Made reservation for a room at the Super 8 in Cloquet MN. The night Mananger Bob was so professional and welcomingly cordial ,that I extended my stay another day.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Easy access to highway, dining - Overnight stay was comfortable with the staff being welcoming
- Minnie (8/5): Nice place to stay - Rooms were very clean. Staff was extremely friendly and helpful. Much cheaper than the hotels located in Duluth. Only a fifteen minute drive from downtown.
- Bob, Janet (8/5): Close and within the limits of Duluth - The jacuzzi suite was our main reason for stay. And the sites in duluth were worth the day's outing to end relaxing in the jacuzzi.
- Izzy (6/5): Duluth visit - The hotel was missing some of the normal amenities such as a pool. Breakfast was minimal but adequate. The front desk was manned by Joe who was polite and funny. Overall for the price point it wsseexcellent.
- Lisa (10/5): Nicest Super 8 ever! - This was the nicest Super 8 of all the one where I have stayed. The hotel staff was extremely nice and accommodating. My only complaint would be that the beds were extremely hard.
- Verified traveler (8/5): EASY TO GET TO. STOP OVER FOR FURTHER TRAVEL - GOOD PRICE PLEASANT NO COMPLAINTS
GOOD PRICE PLEASANT NO COMPLAINTS
- mommabear (6/5): Disappointing - Based on other reviews I expected more. Overpriced for what you get.
- Sue (10/5): Great stop on the way north - Very clean, very nice staff, fine breakfast. We were served eggs even though we got out of our room a little late. The staff recommended a restaurant for us the night before. A very pleasant stay.
- Ben (8/5): Good value, clean and quiet - The room I had included a mini fridge and microwave along with a recliner. The room was overall very clean and cozy other than the recliner, which looked fairly dirty all around. The staff is very pleasing and fixed my sink which was not draining properly when I arrived. The bathroom was very clean and the shower had good pressure and clean as well. Overall a cozy, clean place to rest your head.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Cabin suite - We had made our reservation on internet for queen with no smoking. When we arrived we were told that the room reserved was for a king and a smoking room. Since my husband has asthma, that was not going to work for us. The clerk sought out the options and stated that all that was left besides the smoking room was a suite and offered us that option on a deeply discounted rate. We accepted, the room was very nicely decorated and very comfortable. The clerk on duty on the afternoon of our arrival deserves commendation. She was very kind and did follow up questioning to assure happiness with our room. Our check in date was August 13th after lunch.
- AAA (6/5): Ok if you just need a overnight stay - Nothing fancy, OK location.
I was travelling up and needed a place to stay the night. OK facilities and comfortable room but pricey as compared to other places with better amenities.
I had to book at the last moment and no other place was available.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Nice hotel, close to Duluth, MN. - So far, the best Super 8 we have stayed in. Clean rooms, nice decoration and furniture..
- Verified traveler (8/5): Friendly Home away from home - We had a nice stay at this Super 8. It is close enough to Duluth to make easy access to activities in Duluth. It is nice to get away from the hustle and bustle of Duluth. The staff was accommodating and friendly.
- Nan (8/5): Friendly, helpful and accommodating staff - The staff was helpful in directing me to area restaurants and willing to modify my original reservation without additional charge.
The room was clean and the bed was comfortable.
- Kim (4/5): Kind of gross - Price was so not worth it. The furniture was badly stained and pretty gross. The bed was ok but there were only two skinny pillows for a queen sized bed. The AC unit was very loud. The mosquitoes were so bad outside the hotel. The price was cheaper than Duluth but for the difference I should have chosen the nicer hotel. The staff was nice and the hotel was very quiet but those are the only two positives.
- Janis (6/5): Grocery store nearby...restaurants, too! - I stayed twice....once on way up to destination and on the way back home. They were slightly different experiences because I was by myself the first time and with my son second time. The breakfast seemed minimal but ok. The dining area is very small but seemed sufficient. When I got there the first time, my curtains were hanging off the hooks on one side. But everything else seemed ok. I like there is wireless but wish there was some type of hot tub for everyone's usage instead of inside a limited amount of suites. I also wish there was a room of exercise equipment. but all in all, for staying a night to continue on with a trip, the bed is comfortable. The town of Cloquet is quite charming...explored it more with my son on the second trip. Found unique stores....antique shop, burger joint, Frank Lloyd Wright gas station (only one built anywhere!) and some beautiful homes built there.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Unique room - The room was very unique and was very spacious. It was clean and the hot tub was great.
- Verified traveler (4/5): Super 8 Cloquet Mn - The lobby smelled of stale smoke as the "smoking rooms" were located right off the lobby. The hotel is in need of updating. It was very easy to hear people in the next room as well as walking up and down the halls. It was very warm in the room but the cooling unit was so loud it was impossible to have it run during the night. I mentioned this to the staff on check out and she wasn't too concerned.
- Linda (8/5): great hotel for family. - clean and bright room. very frendly and helpful staff.
- Jim (8/5): Pet friendly - Pet friendly room was clean, well apointed, without any pet smell. Pet friendly room was convenient to an outside door and not a second class room.
- Verified traveler (8/5): nice place to stay - it was a good hotel, nice price....Got a room when all the other hotels were full.
- Verified traveler (8/5): trip to Duluth Mn. - The Hotel was nice !! , liked the rock wall on the outside
- Verified traveler (10/5): Personell - The personell is very nice, recommended eating places.
- chantelle (4/5): ok - the room was small breakfast was good it was just ok
- Verified traveler (8/5): Why pay more....works for us - Good for a quick shut eye and an early rise. price was good
- Verified traveler (8/5): Nothing spectacular, nothing horrible. - Hotel was average. The continental breakfast left much to be desired. The coffee cups held about 4 ounces, muffins were gone well before we arrived, about an hour before close. The hotel was a little overpriced, but given that every hotel in Duluth was booked for the weekend, we were fortunate to get reservations. Nothing spectacular, nothing horrible.
- Verified traveler (8/5): it was worth it - Rates were up from normal due to the marathon in Duluth but we were happy with what we got for our money compared to friends who paid more for less in Duluth
- Corrine (10/5): Convenient, affordable stay - Extremely helpful, courteous staff; clean rooms; easy access to hotel and town.
Close to shopping (Pamida, Wal-Mart)
Breakfast - adequate for Cloquet.
