Guest Reviews
- Michelle (10/5): - What a gorgeous gem we found on our Ireland vacation! This B&B sits next to Loch Lein, with beautiful grounds. The home itself is clean and well-decorated, with fresh flowers in the main areas. The dining room is charming and elegant. In fact, elegant is the word I'd use for our entire stay.
The caretakers/owners are personable. One day we were out from sunup to sundown, getting back after dinner. I was offered hot tea, delivered to my room for me to relax and sip after a long day.
Our room was amazing! It was spacious, with a sofa and table, and included fresh bathrobes—very luxurious. We had a spectacular view of the lake. The bed was comfortable, and the pillows fluffy (this means a lot to us!).
We had two meals in the dining room, dinner and breakfast. The food is gourmet—the best we had during our travels. The meals are an extra charge, and totally worth it.
On checkout, I left a bag behind and received a prompt call before we were out of the city. I was very appreciative of the diligence in handling my belongings.
I can't say enough about this fantastic property: the service, the gorgeous room, and the delicious food. I highly recommend Loch Lein Country House for a comfortable and elegant stay.

- Christopher (10/5): - Our stay at Loch Lein Country House was exceptional. The hotel was immaculate and the staff went out of their way to make our stay so memorable. Paul's knowledge of the area was invaluable. We would recommend a stay there as a hub for visiting the locality. And do have an evening meal there where you can relax with picture postcard views of the lake.
- Danya (10/5): - We loved Loch Lein. This place is so lovely and the kind hosts go out of their way to make you feel welcome and comfortable. They also provided suggestions on where to eat and what to do in the area. We would love to spend a few days here next time!

- Terry and MG (10/5): Fabulous getaway - Hosts were so amazing... BreKfast outstanding! What a great visit!
- Verified traveler (10/5): A beautiful manor but close enough to town - We wish we had booked for longer. This hotel was pure indulgence of the highest quality with staff who made you feel welcome in their home.
- Verified traveler (10/5): IMPRESIONANTE VISTA DESDE EL HOTEL - EL PERSONAL MUY ATENTO Y CERCANO
- Blaze (10/5): Great hotel in isolated spot - This hotel was faultless in presentation and service with everyone bending over backwards to help with any requests you may have. Breakfast was also very good with a selection of cold foods and hot..although maybe lacking in imagination it was competent and filling...As they say ,it's a great hotel..
- Anna (10/5): A fantastic small hotel with great location - I would have stayed here my entire vacation if I could. Annette, the proprietor, met us in the driveway to welcome us to the hotel. We arrived too late for dinner, but she directed us to the nearby Hotel Europe for a good, quick, late bite to eat. The property is right on the lake, and with bikes and a lakefront walking path nearby, the grounds itself are worth staying around for. The start of the Ring of Kerry is about 5 minutes away and Annette gave us perfect recommendations on things to see and do on the Ring. The town is about a 10 minute drive, but very convenient. This was our favorite breakfast of all of our hotels- catered to our specific requests and had good hot and continental options. We bought our own wine and sat in the yard for a whole night and loved it. The young man (?Mathew) that works there was very friendly and helpful. The room itself was spacious, clean, and comfortable. I had a fantastic two night stay there and would recommend to everyone for a relaxing stay near Killarney.
- Chris (10/5): Lovey Place - This was the nicest accomadation we had on our 2 week trip to Ireland.
- Roz (10/5): A wonderful experience in Killarney - We had a wonderful stay at Loch Lein. The house was beautifully presented and our room was fantastic. A large room that had all the comforts of home. The staff were very welcoming and our every need was catered for. We were given assistance with ideas on where to sightsee and this was incredibly helpful. Breakfast was lovely set in a beautiful room overlooking the property. We would highly recommend this location.
- Kathinka (10/5): Perfection in every detail - At a surprisingly moderate rate Loch Lein Country House offers five star quality in service, food and the house itself. We spent 3 nights in s family suite, spacious and with a very luxurious bathroom (and fortunately lake view!) Dinner is a must if you have the chance! Our little kids were taken care of in the best way possible and my 5-year old didn't want to leave!
- MS (10/5): Great view - My husband and I stayed at Loch Lein Country House for 4 nights. It was right in the middle of our 15 day trip around the Southwest of Ireland and it was the perfect place to stay and relax. The rooms are very spacious and comfortable and the views of the lake and countryside are amazing.
Paul and Annette are wonderful hosts…friendly, helpful and a delight to talk to. The breakfast was very tasty and the menu had many choices to choose from…our favorite the house special omelet. You could sit at the dining room all morning just admiring the view.
The guesthouse is located a short drive from Killarney’s beautiful town center, so it's easy to get to. The town center has many places to shop and great pubs.
Loch Lein was our favorite accommodation during our trip. We highly recommended.
- Mike (10/5): Loch Lein Country House - A very nice place. The owner was very helpful..
- Verified traveler (6/5): - im Internet sind schöne Bilder vom Hotel mit dem nahe gelegenen Loch Lein zu sehen. Leider gibt es keine Möglichkeit vom Hotel aus an den See zu kommen.
Dies sollte man wissen.....
Zum Walken, Joggen, Spazieren gehen vom Hotel aus gibt es kaum Möglichkeiten, ohne eine nahe Hauptverkehrsstraße zu benutzen.
- Freddie (10/5): The very best - This is the very best in small hotels (25 rooms). Large rooms and bathrooms, beautifully furnished and fitted out. Comfortable public rooms. A warm welcome from Paul and Annette. You will not be disappointed.
- Bob & Liz (10/5): Loch Lein Killarney County House - The elegance blew us away. Owners were continually checking on the quality of service which was OUTSTANDING. The room was perfect; view from the room was unbelievable, and breakfast was first rate. Next trip to Ireland will include 3 or 4 days here to explore the peninsula and play a few rounds of golf at the Killarney Golf and Fishing club. Recommendations for dinner in town were superb. Can't say enough good about the Loch Lein House. You will not be disappointed.... Guaranteed!
- Colin (10/5): Great Killarney location - Large B&B guest house with splendid gardens and rural views towards Loch Lein and mountains beyond. Managers Paul and Annette met us in the large private parking area to help with luggage and farewelled us after our 3 night stay. Room was large with King sized bed and very well appointed. No in-room tea/coffee making facilities but Annette happily brought fresh tea/coffee to our room on arrival and on request and also served in the public lounge. Excellent breakfast room with full Irish breakfast and menu. Free wifi available in lounge only, due to locational tech problems - the only drawback for us. Guest house is 5 kms out side Killarney but this was no drawback. Overall, a great location and B&B. We would certainly use again and happily recommend.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Warm, friendly inn with large rooms, great breakfast and wonderful views. We loved it.
- Simon (2/5): Lovely hotel - Great hotel, lovely views. Wonderful breakfast, but not offering dinner at moment.
- Kim (10/5): Excellent property - We recently stayed at Loch Lein and enjoyed a very nice stay. The property is beautiful and the surrounding area, Killarney National Park, is gorgesous. The staff are friendly and helpful. The breakfast was delicious. We could have stayed a week at the property, if only time permitted.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Loch Lein Country House - Beautiful country house in lovely setting. Immaculate, very friendly and lovely breakfast.
Would definitely recommend this to anyone
and will certainly be going back again.
- Hank (10/5): WOW.... - The ultimate of Bed & Breakfast
- Verified traveler (10/5): Best Hotel!!! - During a recent trip traveling all over Ireland for 10 days with my fiancee, we stayed in all types of hotels. Loch Lein House was by far the best. The staff was amazing...so welcoming and knowledgeable. I wish we had spent our whole trip here...gorgeous location! The breakfast was excellent, rooms were spacious, clean, and comfortable. Spectacular views and overall a great spot.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Loch Lein Country House - Our arrival at Loch Lein Country House was the perfect destination. We had had a long day driving from Cork taking in the Ring of Beara on the way and to top off the big day driving we met up with the 7,000 Harley Davidson Ireland Bikefest in Killarney. To arrive to such a beautiful place as this made our day. The welcome was wonderful by our hosts, our room warm and inviting, a beautiful dinner and breakfast and the outlook is to die for. Thank you so much Loch Lein Country House. Our only regret was our stay was far too short!
- Murtuza (10/5): Classy ,elegant and personalised service. - This place would easily qualify for one of the most classy, elegant and well managed hotel in my entire trip of Ireland.
Extremely gracious and personalized service.
The owner couple who manage this place are also very efficient at maintaining and running this huge house or banglow, with a very charming and nice attitude.
The main hall and reception area are very lovely and classy with free access to internet also.
The hall also had a few good books on the table regarding the local attractions which I found very useful and nice.
There is only one floor but still a lift is provided for ! The boy came for my luggage as soon as we entered and check in /check out was a breeze.
The dining area or restaurant also is very nice and the breakfast spread is given with a choice of a hot cooked dish.( nice personalized service continued at breakfast also when the owner/hostess came over twice to check if we needed more hot tea etc)
The rooms are large, nice and neat.
No tea/coffee making machine in room but the hostess immediately offered to send some at the room , but it was late at night around 10.00 pm and we did not want to trouble her too much so we avoided.
The cons;
The place is 5 to 7 kms away from Killarney.
The house is often advertised as having the best views of the lake, so I asked for a room with the lake view, but I was refused as I was staying only one night on the weekend. But I was checking in late around 6.00 pm and I seriously doubt if any new walk in would have come in so late and asked for a lake view room, especially as i saw a lot of rooms vacant on the lake side. Moreover I was going to check out early morning and felt that I could have been easily accommodated for one night.
Recommended.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Loch Lein Country House - We picked this Country House because of the great reviews and the proximity to the ring of Kerry. The management/staff were helpful, the room was very clean and comfortable and breakfast was great. I would recommend this B&B to anyone.
- Ken (10/5): You must stay here - The Loch Lein Country House is a must if you want first class, from the very start till the time we left the service, atmosphere and scenery are just unbeatable. Would rcommend this place to anyone.
- Kerrie (10/5): A Must-Stay in South-West Ireland! - I was thrilled with our stay at the Loch Lein Hotel. Paul & Annette, the owners, are gracious, fun, charming & accomodating hosts that do their best to quickly meet one's needs without them ever feeling intrusive. Rosie & Mathew were great, too! The hotel itself has 26 rooms but has the intimate feel of a B & B. The grounds and hotel are beautiful but without feeling stuffy. It's a few miles outside of the main town (Killarney) which I like so one has to be sure to have transporation or arrange for taxis (whcih can get expensive if you're staying for several days). The room itself was pretty & quite spacious with an incredible view of the grounds. I would stay there again without hesitation! The bottom line is like many others I limited expenses. However, I am a time in my life where I am not willing to stay in some schlocky place during a trip that may end up being a once in a lifetime event! I feel I got a great deal & experience at the Loch Lein. We only ate their a few times, but it was delicous each time.
- Tim (10/5): - The Hotel was one of the best I have stayed in
the only complaint was the distance from the town,
but having said that it was very easy to get a taxi and we really felt that if there had been a problem with taxi the owner would have driven us to the town
- Verified traveler (10/5): Outstanding Hotel - We really enjoyed our stay at Loch Lein Country House. The room was very nice, clean and comfortable. We had a beautiful view of the lake and surrounding area. The staff was very friendly and helpful. Highly recommend.
- Martha (10/5): Beautiful Site - The minute we drove up to Loch Lein, the family started lobbying to stay extra nights. It is just a beautiful site, with a lovely view of the lake and mountains. We were provided with tea as soon as we arrived. The hosts were wonderfully accommodating. Several times they called to find information for us - which golf courses were less busy, and the fees there, when the ferry heading to Cliffs of Moher left, etc. We will definitely be back.
- J (10/5): Quality Service - A good, comfortable hotel made perfect by the attention to detail and the personal service of the owners. We had a great three night stay and would thoroughly recommend the hotel.
- Joe (8/5): Lovely, tranquil and great view of the lake. - Lovely hotel, excellent breakfast, large clean rooms (but would have like an iron and ironing board). Amazing view overlooking the lake. Proficient staff and cordial to the unexpected 10.
