Guest Reviews
- Julie (9/5): Lovely stay ,really well equipped, lovely sea views have stayed here several times and would recom - Property had lovely sea views and was perfect for dog walks along the beach.
- Trevor (9/5): - Excellent all round, nice location, clean, super facilities.
Will go again
- Melanie (10/5): 👌 Perfect - Cleanest place we've ever stayed in. Beach/sea views, on suite bedrooms with choice of shower and bath. Directions a bit misleading. We approached from the rear, would be better arriving from the promenade.
- Sara (7/5): Great location and snug place from which to explore the North York Moors and Whitby - Great location
A split level apartment created by converting a corner ground floor unit of a faded grand seaside hotel doesn’t sound like it would work but it does. Really well in fact.
Well appointed, plenty of space for a family of four.
Good sized utility room useful for drying coats The flush mechanisms of all three toilets need to be replaced as they don’t work reliably
- Simon (8/5): Great place . Beautiful apartment . - The locatiom was superb . Loved its proximity to the wonderful beach . And town itsself was all down hill and easy to walk to . Only one thing let down the prooerty. I really think a plumber could fix this in a half hour visit . The problem being the toilets flush buttons were not performing tbe flush.
You could press it repeatedly in tbe same place at the same pressure with a 10% chance of it working .
- Maria Venus (10/5): Excellent break . No hassle. Well communicated ahead of time. - Location and the house Nothing in particular
- Langley (10/5): Great seaside retreat - Great place, warm and welcoming. Spotlessly clean. Great space, done to a good standard. Great location Nothing to dislike
- Richard (8/5): Lovely apartment with lots of room, shame about ignorant neighbours. - The views and the location Very noisy people in the flat above. Had dogs running around and barking at 3 in the morning.
- Sharon (6/5): Fabulous location - The location was great, right on the sea front in a very nice area of whitby and just a 10min walk to the town centre. There was nothing to dislike.
- Driscoll (9/5): A well designed, spacious holiday flat. - The views were amazing, parking space was a bonus, clean and comfortable, had everything required for a holiday let, position of property was great as a base, the attention to detail and the christmas tree and decorations made it even more special . A well thought out space with 2 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms plus a separate downstairs toilet, plus a freezer and washing machine in the utility. Lovely warm and cosy, we would definitely stay there again. The mezzanine level was very creaky, and I could hear people moving around, which was not good for a quiet nights sleep, but it is something you may get used to. No spare key was found. Some of the furniture is worn and could do with replacing but was clean and comfortable. Blinds need a bit of attention, and there was some damp, however this property is right on the sea front. None of the listed would prevent us from staying again though.
- Gilly (10/5): Great stay - Everything from the view to the comfort & decor. At 130ish in the morning they was a lot of heavy walking around from the above apartment .It didn't last long & only happened 1 night ( morning) .
- Sharon (10/5): Amazing Place - This place is amazing. The place was decorated beautifully for Xmas with a huge tree that was twinkling when we arrived. The decor was lovely and very homely, loved the bedroom with the balcony overlooking the living area and the view from the other bedroom was amazing looking over the sea. We would 100% stay again. We had no internet
- Janet (7/5): -
- williams (8/5): - Parking outside is a big bonus.location great . Very clean , we had a problem with downstairs toilet tap which would not turn off but this was sorted by Selina calling a plumber in quite quickly. Only main issue for us was all the beds need new mattresses they are very uncomfortable so we had three nights bad sleep.
- John (10/5): - Great location and apartment.
- Cathie (10/5): Absolutely perfect !!! Would love to come back. - We loved absolutely everything about this accommodation, truly was the best we have stayed in for a while, its location is perfect, within walking distance to whitby and just across the road to walk dogs down to the beach and further beach walk to sandsend. with parking right outside, you couldn’t get better, the accommodation was spacious and well kept with everything you needed for a comfortable stay, modern, clean and tidy and perfect for two couples with their own bathrooms, one with the biggest bath ever for a lovely soak.
It has a washroom and outdoor seating, even on a wet day it would be lovely to sit and read in one of the many comfy seating areas and watch the world go by with great views over the sea as well.
It offers great value for money, I got a welcome pack in a text message that covered everything you needed. All in all very impressed and hope we are lucky enough to stay again in the future.
Thank you for letting us share your space Nothing to dislike
- Tracy (5/5): Lovely location but stay somewhere else. - The location was great. Lovely views out to ses. Quiet area. When we got to the accommodation and opened the door we were like Wow. Unfortunately that feeling was fleeting. The smell hit us, like damp dog and stuffy. The radio was on and we could hear voices. The floor was wet so thought it was the cleaner but it was the flat above. We had a look around. The bedding felt damp and also smelled. There is only one window upstairs between 2 bathrooms and 2 bedrooms which opened an inch. Downstairs apart from the door only 2 small windows. One room the blinds are fit "decorative purposes only)Thought we would gather ourselves and get a nice drink. Hardly any tea coffee,no milk or water and no biscuits. The flat is very creaky. I wish I had read more reviews as the same problems from a year back. Very very uncomfortable beds, TV not working. Toilet not flushing. It is a case of take the money and do as little as possible. We saved for years for a break and choose a more expensive place. Upsetting. The worst thing was the constant reminders not to break anything, having had to sign a waiver for ÂŁ500 after booking(non refundable) we were scared to use anything and felt very uncomfortable. We even took pictures before and videos when we left as that's how worried we were that somehow we would be billed. Maybe some one should stay there before advertising this place again. Also not happy about ÂŁ60 cleaning fee When not much cleaning was done. Kitchen sticky.
- Paula (7/5): Good location, noisey clean comfy parking - Great location great having parking space. Very comfortable very well equipped, lovely fluffy soft towels. Welcome pack tea coffee etc. comfy beds, great shower and bath. Enclosed garden for dogs. Was clean. Very noisey neighbours upstairs people dragging furniture, banging about, walking up and down. Creaking floor boards. maybe doing diy at 11pm and 7am ? So was very disturbed. Too much clutter everywhere and smelt of too much shake and vac? Whilst clean the sofa needs hoovering. Only one window and front door opens to let fresh air in. Would not return.

- LILIAN (9/5): It was a relaxing and totally peaceful and very comfortable place to be. - It was lovely, clean and very comfortable. The kitchen had everything you could possibly need. It was a pleasure to prepare food in the kitchen. The whole apartment had a spacious feel and the view of the sea outside was amazing as well as the beautiful sunsets. The sofas and armchairs were really comfy. Overall it was a place to relax and be totally comfortable. We loved it. Hanging space was limited, but there was plenty of drawer space and ledges, etc. bathrooms were lovely, spotlessly clean. Excellent shower, easy to use and powerful. There was some noise from apartment above, but very little and nothing to be concerned about or be irritated by. Our car right outside, virtually on the doorstep, a real bonus! We couldn’t use the tv. It was difficult to figure out what was wrong. We left it alone. The tv in the bedroom was fine though. The blinds in the twin bedded room were a bit awkward, light came in. Blackout roller blinds would have been perfect. Nevertheless I slept well. The mattress was not very comfortable, but I still managed to sleep very well.
- Kerry (9/5): -
- Chris (9/5): -
- Katharina (10/5): Incredible value for money 5/5 - Clean, spacious , easy to find with parking right outside in a perfect location right opposite the beach and walking distance from shops & restaurants
- Christopher (8/5): Lovely place. - Lovely property, brilliant location. Could have stayed longer, facilities such as kitchen and laundry room excellent. Very comfortable en suite bathrooms. Perfect for dogs as right next to beach and has an enclosed outdoor area. We had a very comfortable weekend here. Smell of cannabis coming from the communal area when we arrived, but the flat itself was clean and the smell was gone the next morning.
- Sarah (4/5): Disappointing - Great place close to the beach. Upstairs was clean and well furnished. Creaky floors throughout the property meant we were unable to sleep.
- Mark (10/5): Exceptional -
- Tipper (9/5): Superb - Great place to stay for the family. Just a short lovely walk from Whitby and amazing views for the sunsets we had.
- Adrian (9/5): Superb - Fabulous place , fantastic location, we love this place 3 times we’ve stayed here has its own parking place very much needed, . Well equipped kitchen great utility room with everything in it ,. Beds could do with a better mattress ( just a personal thing ) bath is useless ,. Otherwise fantastic apartment 👍👍
- Diane (10/5): Exceptional -
- Jakki (8/5): Very good -
- Shani (10/5): The perfect place to stay for a break in Whitby - The location is fantastic. Only a 10 mins walk into central Whitby, so a couple of minutes in a car. Right on the sea front giving fantastic views. Private parking at the front which was great. Very spacious and beautifully decorated. Great shower & bath and added bonus of a utility room with a mini fridge! Was giving welcome snacks which was a lovely idea. I would definitely recommend to come here couldn't fault anything at all, really enjoyed our stay. Nothing, perfect.
- Deborah (9/5): Superb - Lovely spacious well equipped lovely views great bath and a Chinese restaurant nextdoor and a pub would book again . No negative s home from home
- Martin (10/5): A brilliant base to explore Whitby - We loved the size of the property it was so much bigger than expected, the heating was great, we stayed there in February and it was always warm unlike some other places we have stayed.
The shower was also great, hot and powerful.
The position of the property is perfect with sea views from both bedrooms and the ground floor.
Nice little touches too, not just tea and coffee, but also some lovely snacks
Absolutely loved it Nothing
- Mark (8/5): Very good -
- Jakki (7/5): Good - the location damp smell on arrival and wet carpet in front bedroom
- Sophie (10/5): Photos don’t do the property justice, had a fantastic stay - Everything you need for a wonderful break - home from home The noisy people above sounded like a herd of elephants with dogs running around for hours on an evening
- Denise (9/5): Superb -
- Amy (9/5): Superb - Perfect for a family trip, facilities are all really good. Loved the extra bathroom, which is really convenient with teens! Location and views are incredible The double bed is noisy when you move around. There is also a lot of noise from above, really annoying, but not enough to stop us staying here again
- Sally (9/5): Fabulous we will be back could move in! -
- Wesley (10/5): Anyone staying here, will stay again. I know my family will be. 10/10 - Perfectly set up. I could literally have moved in. Floor boards upstairs are fairly noisy, but it's an older building so is expected.
- Linda (7/5): Good location but needs tlc - Location was brilliant, had a lovely seating area outside with sea views. Car parking outside was a bonus and very convenient for the town Apartment needs a little tlc. Curtains were shoddy and blinds broken. Main bedroom had no hanging space which was inconvenient
- Justin (9/5): Superb - The views are amazing the apartment is gorgeous would definitely come again
- Michael (10/5): Exceptional - It was a superb very clean beautiful property in an idea location Booking in time was very confusing in correspondence I would suggest that a 2 pm book in time would certainly be viewed as exceptional value as opposed to 4pm where the value is good
- Lyndsey (1/5): Be warned about hidden damage insurance and misinformation about parking - Location & property Hidden damage insurance and misinformation about parking which resulted in me unnecessarily paying for parking a mile from the property.
We were unable to check in upon arrival and the code for the key box was not handed to unless we paid damage insurance, ÂŁ25 non refundable or ÂŁ250 with ÂŁ240 being refunded within 14 days.
There is parking that comes with the property and is clearly signed however when emailing the host in advance we were advised there was no parking.
All of this caused unnecessary stress and aggravation.
I've never had this experience before when booking a holiday let on booking.com.
Wouldn't book with host & stay properties again.
- Peter (8/5): Very good - Great location It would have been nice to have milk and water
- Malcolm (9/5): Will come again - Good sea view in quiet location but not too far from the town Can get very warm with only one window that opens
- Chloe (10/5): Fantastic - Very homey loved it would definitely love to stay there again Nothing
- Silvana (7/5): Good - The accomodation is in an excellent location and all the rooms are very roomy. The shower is really powerful and the bath is an amazing size.
Great that there is a parking space with the flat.
The kitchen has everything that you need and the addition of the utility room is excellent for storing stuff out of the way .
The little goodies on the table were welcomed by the kids .
It was lovely to have the outside space as the weather was lovely for sitting outside and watching the sun set every night made it really special. Even the kids loved that part and we got some great pictures.
It is located within easy reach of everything. The beach is just down the hill below you or you can drive a bit further down the coast to park right on the front. The main problem for us and I'm sure it will be so for others is the fact that there are no adequate window coverings to block out the light in a morning, the office style blinds offer no use and with the sun coming up very early we were all very tired after the 5 days from lack of sleep. Curtains or black out blinds would have solved this. With only approx 4hours darkness at this time of year it's a real problem.
The beds are also a little uncomfortable as not very good mattresses and are quite hard.
The final thing is the information on the app isn't up to date so the WiFi password was wrong, the information about parking was wrong and there weren't adequate instructions about how to work the DVD and Sky box, just to make you aware there is only one HDMI lead but you need 2 to get both to work, a lot of people wouldn't have known how to fix this to make the DVD work. Sky is also non existent only for your basic TV channels and so there wasn't much for the kids to watch later in evening, this wasn't noted in the information app so we were expecting to be able to watch a kids film or two .
Sorry about the negative information but I think if these small things were fixed it would be absolutely perfect.
- Kam (6/5): Good but no wifi access. - The location is easy to reach but far from city center or beach. I never imagine that there is no wifi access in the flat as I think it is a basic supply for any rental accommodation. I have to use my phone network to supply hotspot for my computer to work. Apart from this, everything is fine.
- Fiona (8/5): Lovely location, homely environment. Would return - Sunset view was a 10/15 minute stroll to the town, great views over the sea. Dog friendly beach across the road. Equipped with all you would need however no wardrobes but hangers on a coat rail in hall space and a metal frame hanging space. Small patio area with furniture ideal to sit out at night and watch the sun go down.
Bedding and towels supplied along with a welcome pack, some crisps, chocolate and biscuits. Tea/coffee, salt and pepper and cleaning items.
Bath was lovely, large, perfect for a soak.
Dedicated parking space was ideal. The mezzanine bedroom allows noise to travel, it was fine for us but if you were travelling as a group of 4 it could be problematic.
Mattress on king size bed was uncomfortable in my opinion, very thin. Maybe an upgrade would be good.
- Anthony (7/5): Firstly, three days before the trip, we received an email and were told that there was scaffolding up and building work - Location, great layout, very spacious. Floors creaked REALLY loudly, dated furniture, bathroom tiles broken, loud noise from room above, running water noises really loud from other residents.
- Jan (9/5): Apartment is lovely and great location my sisters and I would definitely book again if going to Whit - Could have been a little bit cleaner around bay window was dead flies and cup stains on sill, kickboard was down on the kitchen floor when we arrived, what looked like mouse trap under unit, I put board in position and luckily we didn't see anything in 5 days? But worrying at first!
- Pam (10/5): We had some problems with the booking but we had a great time in a beautiful place - The situation was brilliant, it was more than we expected. Stunning sea views especially from the upstairs bedroom. Everything apart from sofa very clean and well equipped The brown lea sofa had a mark on it so I got a cloth to clean it and it was filthy
- Richard (8/5): Great location for town and far enough to miss town traffic. Great views of the sea. Very relaxing stay - Really nice flat lots of space and nicely decorated. Good location with a 15 minute walk into town. Parking outside the flat was great Nothing
- Damon (10/5): Excellent property & great communication from the host -
- Caroline (10/5): A lovely place to stay in a beautiful town - The location was great and the property itself is lovely. Great views and it has everything you need for your stay. Nothing
- Jakki (10/5): Exceptional - The location was perfect, the views could be seen from all around. Front bedroom bonus was the recliner chair!!
On site parking There wasn't anything to complain about....
- Lea (10/5): Great place great location - Absolutely spotless clean everything you needed was there amazing views great location It doesn’t tell you till after you have made the booking you have a £250 returnable deposit to pay & £10 nonreturnable deposit to pay then have to wait 7-14 days to receive it back never had that before on this site
- Lorraine (10/5): Fantastic place to stay, everything you needed and only 10 min walk to centre. Lovely t se - Was given the wrong code number for safe key and took a while to get through to host stay service
Can't be helped but quite noisy upstairs
- Faye (8/5): Very good - Realy nice appartment very big, great views and location was great.
Very relaxing. There were black and white hairs everywhere even on the bed sheets
- Victoria (10/5): Exceptional - Clean, comfortable warm no complaints. Gorgeous views
- William (9/5): Very good indeed. - Great location. Shower needs some caustic soda pouring down the drain hole as the water was backing up.
My wife noted very nice furniture together with cheap, chipboard stuff. Too much furniture it could be argued. Lose the chipboard! Otherwise a lovely stay.
- Darren (10/5): Exceptional -
- Dianne (6/5): Lovely Apartment - A spacious, bright, well equipped ground floor duplex apartment in a fab location and relatively secure outside patio. Quality bed linen and towels were provided, and the welcoming items of tea, coffee, biscuits, crisps, etc. were a nice touch, as were the christmas tree and decorations, for a December visit. It would have been perfect for a cosy, relaxing break on the coast. Regrettably, I was only made aware of work being done on the building when I received my check-in instructions the day before arrival, advising me that I couldn't use the private parking bay due to scaffolding. Naturally, I was pleased on arrival that there wasn't any, until instead, early the following morning tradesmen, their large van, and equipment appeared directly outside the front windows blocking the view (Sunset or otherwise) while they used drills, hammers, etc next door.
I received an apology from Host & Stay, but no suggestion of recompense. Had I known I would not have stayed there or postponed my trip.
Also, be aware that check-in is from 4 pm, the latest I've experienced, and checkout is by 10 am.
- Katie (8/5): Home away from home. :) - The location of this property is perfect, waking up to the sea view was such a beautiful experience for us and our children.
We thought it was a home away from home, the facilities were great, spacious, clean and the Christmas decorations were a very special treat. We had a few issues, the WiFi, sky tv and dvd player wouldn’t work which meant the children couldn’t watch any films at all.
The windows in the kitchen and living room were all closed yet there was a huge draft coming through, as the curtains were decoration only the blinds did nothing to prevent this causing us to have to turn up the heat and only access one area of the living room to keep warm.
- Andrea (10/5): Lovely relaxing stay, home from home comforts - 2nd stay at this property it is a lovey well equipped apartment N/A
- Shirley (9/5): Great sea views and good location - Good location, with sea view. Good parking right outside the property. Roomy accommodation and fully equipped. Both bedrooms are on suite. Nice touch of shortbread and chocolates. Both bedrooms had very creaky floors. The bathroom fans were noisy. The curtains in the living room/ mezzanine bedroom couldn't be closed because they were old and very worn. Therefore, the bedroom was almost daylight 24 hours.
- Andy (3/5): Not the best and left early - Nice view No internet meaning no TV without me doing via my phone
Very noisy until the early hours
- Nicole (6/5): Gorgeous place, but it wasn’t worth it… - Positives:
1. Lots of space
2. Ease of entry
3. Two bedrooms/two bathrooms
4. I had read about scaffolding blocking the entrance/view, but that wasn’t there during my stay at the end of October 2023.
5. Washing machine (bring your own washing powder) Negatives:
1. Wifi did NOT work. When I inquired about it, I was told to unplug it and plug it back in (which anyone with wifi knows to do when it isn’t working, so I had already tried this SEVERAL times). This was a HUGE negative for me. I was traveling to the UK from the States and needed wifi. That was my biggest concern when choosing a place to rent. The wifi was never fixed during my stay.
2. Squeaky floorboards upstairs. And I mean BAD!
3. While this isn’t the fault of the owners of this flat, it should be noted that the people who live above are night owls who pound about all night. It’s already difficult sleeping in a place that isn’t yours, but when you add in the fact that someone is up and stomping around above you for hours, it’s downright terrible.
4. No body wash/shampoo available. Make sure to bring your own.
I ended up leaving a night early because I couldn’t sleep with the people up at night above me. Add in that I didn’t have wifi and it just wasn’t worth it for me.
- Chris (9/5): Really big, comfortable apartment - Nice clean property in a good location Needs some modernisation in terms of decor but thats not enough to not book again
- Peter (9/5): Superb -
- Ben (9/5): Superb -
- Debbie (10/5): Exceptional -
- Fiona (10/5): Exceptional -
- Thelma (10/5): Sunset View Apartment number 1 - Nothing to dislike. Comfortable and roomy with everything thought of. Nice touches with treats left on arrival. Oven door handle needs attention but no complaints. Would recommend this apartment. Good location for our country event at the Pavilion. Well done! Nothing at all.
- Esther (7/5): We hope to book this property again, and stay few more days because the ideal location. - 1. Beautiful view and prime location, we are exciting and feel excellent to have this property to stay
2. Most of facilities are available and home feel. 1. The check out time ssts too early 10:00 am, we are unable to relax and enjoy staying. We sincerely suggest that should move to 12 noon, similar as usual.
2. The beds are all to soft and no supporting
3. There are no shower soap etc. Washing machine with no washing powder.
4. We was asked to pay insurance which made the booking rate not accurately. If we know there are extra insurance must be paid. We may consider other hotel / properties
5. Finally, the whole building are under refurbishing, ...we seem live in a construction site.
- Chris (6/5): Pleasant - Location great, property spacey and comfortable The property it's self was great. Good location and good views of the sea out of one of the windows. However, the scaffolding which is mentioned in the small print is a major issue. You have to share the main entrance with the contractors, the scaffold staircase is basically in the front garden, and although it's locked at night, throughout the day it is just left open. I wouldn't advise booking if you have children that could just walk up the scaffold. The main entrance patio is constantly full of debris which as fallen from the works. This isn't the workmen's fault, it is just bad planning from the property owner. More could be done to stop the constant debris (netting and a crash deck over scaffold) also, the scaffold entrance could have been sited elsewhere. The scaffold it's self blocks 90% of the other window views also, you have to leave the living room blinds closed all day. It's a shame because the property itself is great, just more transparency needed from the vender. I would also advise them to look at the shared entrance, HSE would shut the site down if they visited
- Shelagh (8/5): Very good -
- Abigail (4/5): Would of been lovely but was disappointed - The property was lovely for a family holiday brilliant for walks and location I didn’t like the fact that we wasn’t told about scaffolding around the building, builders entrance to the stairs of scaffolding right by the front door, No parking so had to pay the parking meter which we didn’t plan for, We came home a day early as could stand builders looking in the windows of living room and bedroom every morning/afternoon.
- Samantha (7/5): The holiday let great except for the scaffolding. Booking process poor and misguiding. - Property was spotless, well equipped and great value for money. Excellent location and great sea views. The en-suite bathrooms were very modern and again well equipped. The bath was amazing. We did not like the fact the the property had scaffolding erected all the way around it. We weren't made aware of this when booking. The main entrance to the scaffolding for the builders was actually situated in the property front yard. That meant builders were able to see into the front window as they began banging up and down the flight of stairs when they started work. The front yard was littered with masonry debris from the building work.
We also did not like the booking process, in particular the surprise of an additional hidden deposit or insurance waver fee. We were not made aware of that either in advance of the booking. Initial attempts to pay by card were rejected meaning we had to make a number of panicky calls to try and resolve this ahead of the arrival date. Calls seemed to go through to an overseas operator which initially made us suspicious and cautious in case of fraud so we made our bank aware.
- Jane (5/5): improvement needed - the location of the property and views would be great if not for the scaffolding! we were unaware of this until after we had booked. the work on the scaffold caused lots of debris to fall - often when we were entering or exiting the property - and I have questioned whether the property should be let while the work is going on. Debris even fell when no one was working.
The property has lots of signs saying do not use - ie blinds and curtains.
- Qiuqin (10/5): Amazing location! - Very convenient location. A few minutes walk to the attractions. Duplex houses are exciting for kids. Clean and tidy.Thank you very much! Check out time.Thank you!
- Sharon (5/5): Had potential and wish I’d have known not only about the state of the place due to the scaffolding but also that it woul - Location Scaffolding and the fact we had to pay for parking and that the patio wasn’t usable and it didn’t mention that on booking.com
- Diane (9/5): Superb - Perfect inside. Couldn't fault it. Terrible patio. Scaffolding, debris. No furniture. Not safe for my grandchildren
- Vicki (10/5): Exceptional -
- Hughes (8/5): Beautiful View - The view Unable to use DVD player
No contact other than email from staff
- Julia (5/5): Building renovation work in progress - long standing. . - Comfortable sofas
Beds pretty comfortable The scaffolding covering the building and visible at every window
Lack of ability to use outside space due to building works. Having to keep blinds closed due to building works and visible bedroom from scaffold.
Apartment is tired and needs a refresh.
At a minimum a carton of milk should be provided due to distance from shops
- Johanna (5/5): Beautiful town, owners should of informed when booking loss of view and patio - Beautiful although getting bit run down. Plenty of room Scaffolding all around building no view no outside patio area. This is what we booked property for. Bedroom telly not working. When called about this they weren’t really interested
- Holly (4/5): Great location, would have been lovely with no scaffolding/ builders and a less gunky shower. - There were lots of lovely touches like biscuits and chocolates. Bed linen was lovely, well catered for the dog.
Wifi good. Kitchen was well equipped, although a coffee maker would have been even better.
Loved that there were dishwashing tablets and washing up liquid - makes a big difference. The scaffolding! There was scaffolding all around the building and in the garden meaning we couldn’t find the apartment initially.
Once in the apartment we couldn’t use the outside area because of the scaffolding. The builders woke us up at 7am banging about and kept leaving the gate open so our dog nearly escaped onto the busy main road.
There was also some nasty black mould buildup on the shower head and bathroom tap.
I attempted to feed this all back to the host company but heard nothing back.
- Newdall (5/5): Passable -
- Krzysztof (10/5): Exceptional -
- Sdamb (9/5): Sunset view May 2023 - The apartment was clean, comfortable and has fantastic views. Great that we could take the dog. Nice touch of chocolate, crisps and biscuits left for us. Would stay again and recommend Unfortunately whilst we were there roofing work was being done, the scaffolding prevented us from using the outside area and meant no parking spaces which we had specifically searched for when booking.
- Daniel (7/5): Good - Location was great. Beach is literally over the road.
Managed to park car outside apartment despite scaffolding.
Cost was very reasonable. Scaffolding blocking the view.
Utility room had awful smell in it.
Email/text reminders to check out on time while we were still enjoying being there.
ÂŁ250 deposit taken from account two weeks before arrival.
Ten days to return deposit.
ÂŁ10 fee to pay damage deposit (hidden cost).
The oven wouldn't ignite. So i replied to the message that said if there any issues to just get in touch. Received reply to say look at the manual.
- Nikki (8/5): A lovely stay with fantastic views - The location was fantastic with only a short walk into Whitby town centre and within a short drive to lovely seaside towns and the moors. The accommodation had everything in it we could hope for. It is spacious and well decorated and dressed. The support from Host and Stay was very disappointing, we contacted them with 2 issues and all we got back was a standard response which was on the online information, emails kept bouncing back and they only want you to ring if you have an emergency, so no help at all.
We could only get 4 channels on the TV and be aware that while the scaffolding is up you can’t use the free on-site parking, you have to park across the road in the pay & display.
- James (8/5): Very good - We loved the location and the layout of the floors. It had everything that we needed for our stay. We were disappointed with the scaffolding works. We didn't know to expect it until we got the info email on the week we were due to go. However it didn't really spoil the stay and we would like to go back again when the work has been done.
- Dawn (10/5): We all had a lovely well deserved break the property is fantastic, already looking to book again. - It was like home from home it had everything we needed and was a short walking distance into Whitby. Weather!!
- Susie (9/5): Lovely warm cosy property, recommended!!! - Loved the size and the amenities of Sunset View. Right next to the beach, lovely warm accommodation, 3 toilets!! We only stayed for the weekend in March but it would be amazing for a week or more in summer as the cooker was great, there was a large freezer, ironing board, washing machine, everything you'd need. Difficult to find despite the "exact location" link on Google maps. Google maps is never very clear when walking rather than driving and we ended up in Metropole Towers rather than Metropole Court. "Stand with your back to the sea, face the Chinese restaurant, it's on the right hand corner of that building" would have helped. A sign saying "sunset view" on the property would have also helped. We were told there was no parking due to scaffolding, but it was accessible and we used it. We were told we could park in the pub opposite, which was helpful, but confusing as I was looking for a pub. There was no pub opposite, just the bar "Metunes" of the Chinese restaurant, which was round the corner.
- Posey (10/5): Exceptional - The place was amazing.. very homely. There was everything that we needed and more. The bed was really comfortable, the sea views from the bedroom were a lovely bonus. The bathrooms were awesome, we particularly loved the size of the bath. You provided so much info for walks in the surrounding area, which were helpful. The booking system was really simple which helped. We will definitely be coming back again. The only thing was the blinds didn't completely close properly and the Roman blinds didn't work. But apart from that 10/10.....
- Tim (9/5): Superb -
- Julie (10/5): A lovely comfortable property with stunning views! - We’d had a horrible journey to Whitby. The drive was daunting in the cold wind and rain on unlit roads. However, when we walked through the door, it made us smile. The lights were on, heating was on, and it was all trimmed up for Christmas. Bottle of wine and chocolates on the table. Loved everything about the property and location. The only thing we didn’t like is that we couldn’t stay longer. 🥲
