Guest Reviews
- Karen (10/5): - A quaint little place at the edge of town. Thor greeted me w a smile and a warm welcome. Our room was nice, clean, the fridge and microwave a huge plus. The AC worked great. Beds were comfortable w plenty of pillows. CableTV w more options than we could even think off. To many options when you’re used to basic cable.
- Stacey (10/5): - The room was clean and the pool and hot tub are great after a day of hiking.
- joseph (10/5): - This place was a very nice a cozy get away for me and my family
- Jeanne (8/5): - I liked this place because it was smaller and seemed charming. It is an older place with all of the essentials plus a small pool and hot tub and area for sitting outside. Everything was clean and well kept. Staff were very kind and helpful.
It’s a cozy setting that is reasonably priced but nothing fancy.
- Michelle (10/5): - I had such a wonderful experience at the Sugar Loaf Inn! From the moment I arrived, the atmosphere felt warm and welcoming. The room was clean, comfortable, and had a cozy charm that made me feel right at home. The location was perfect—peaceful, yet close enough to everything I needed.
- Zoltan (10/5): - Clean rooms. Friendly staff. Easy parking. Nice pool with hot tub.
- Nina (10/5): - It’s a cozy place. They accept pets for a fee. Restaurants, grocery and shopping near by. I definitely will be back!
- Joe (10/5): 2 Adventures - This is our second time staying here.
What a wonderful place, close by shopping and dining. Clean , comfortable, and a friendly, accommodating staff.
- Martha (8/5): Nice Hotel, Terrible TV - This hotel is in a convenient area for touring Sedona. Clean, quiet and comfortable. Our biggest complaint was the TV in our room and the subsequent condescension from the hotel regarding our complaint. The TV has no channel guide and also no closed captioning, two things that are important to us. We were told that nobody else complained about this inconvenience and that “the beauty of Sedona is not in our room but out there”. As two seniors at the end of a tiring day taking in the sights we value the ability to easily enjoy the in room entertainment. We found this comment to be very invalidating.
The beds are very comfortable, be aware that if you need total darkness in your room to sleep soundly you won’t get it as the door has a large glass panel with just a blind to cover it, allowing a lot of light in at night. Our room was tidied nicely our second day with fresh towels, toiletries, and coffee packet
- Jennifer (10/5): - Property was very comfortable, clean and affordable. Cute, small motel.
- Mary June (10/5): - NA
- Stuart (10/5): - Very nice!!
- Evans (10/5): - Love love love this place. Such a charming friendly family owned business. Google viewed it as a 2 stars hotel because it is not a chain own, so don’t listen to it. It’s clean, roomy, very thoughtfully decorated and the hospitality is the good old U S of A!
Whether you stop by for a night or wanting to make it a trip, check them out. You won’t be disappointed.
- Bonnie (10/5): Family-run gem, good value & friendly - We loved this motel. Thor introduced himself at check-in and was resposive to any concerns. Older, well-maintained place, gorgeous pool area. Lovely sitting area outside my room door. If you need updated, this is not for you, but it was perfect for us!
- Maliha (10/5): Cute Motel in Great Location - Definitely a motel, but very cute and in a great location close to Devil's Bridge. Old but clean. I would happily stay here again.
- Catherine A (8/5): Beds so uncomfortable! - everything was great except the beds...they were hard and saggy - that is not an easy thing to achieve!
Had a really squeaky night of tossing a turning, the hot tube was lovely though!
- tom (10/5): - Very nice
- Jamshed (10/5): - Everything was good
- Glenn (10/5): - Very convenient West Sedona location close to several restaurants and on the shuttle route. Pool area had several chairs and a few tables, and a couple umbrellas for shade.
- Beatriz (8/5): Bien - Buena ubicación. Estuvimos una noche
- Carol (10/5): - Older property maintained well!! Beds very comfortable. Owners present and very approachable! Would definitely stay again. Would recommend to others!!!
- Raelle (10/5): Just what we needed - I was tracing back from Vegas and stayed the night in Sedona, did not have any hotel rooms arranged but drove passed this one several times and it looks cozy. The rooms were cozy.
- ANNA (10/5): Great stay! - Pool and hot tub were great, room was clean and comfy, staff were nice.
- Jill (6/5): - The room was dated—not great, but not bad. It was comfortable and clean enough considering the age of the motel. There was a one-inch gap between the threshold and the bottom of the door to the room. It didn't seem to be an issue because the weather was fine while we were there, and we didn't notice any bugs on the floor.
While the pool looked clean, the hot tub was absolutely filthy—you couldn't see the bottom.
- Doreen (10/5): - It was a great place to stay for 3 nights. We walked to town, hiked, and took a Grand Canyon tour from Sedona. It was comfortable, nice pool and spa, great folks running it.
- Reed (10/5): - Great location (did laundry nearby), friendly staff, nice accommodations!
- Yumeng (10/5): - nice trip
- David (10/5): - Hospitality was great, check in was wonderful, beds were clean and comfy
- Maisy (10/5): - If you’re looking for an inexpensive place to stay that’s clean, comfortable, and in a great location, this is it. When we walked in, it smelled fresh and clean, and the staff was super friendly and welcoming.
The room had everything we needed, including a smart TV with tons of channels. The hotel is also dog-friendly, which was a huge plus for us. There are tons of restaurants, shops, and things to do within walking distance, so it was easy to enjoy the area without needing to drive.
The pool area was nice and relaxing, and there's even a grill available, which is a great bonus if you want to hang out and enjoy the space.
It’s a simple place, but it has everything you need. I’ll definitely stay here again. Great value, great vibe!
- Joyce (10/5): - Hassle free check in. Property management is great. Housekeepers are great. Property is clean, quiet and family oriented. Enjoy staying there every time I visit Sadona.
- Raphael (8/5): - It was fine for our 1-night stay. Nothing luxurious but a cute and quiet place.
- HIROYA (10/5): - It was a little old, but the room was nice and well-furnished.
- Amanda (10/5): - Although the property was old, it was very clean and well kept. The office staff were kind and very helpful.
- Robert (10/5): - Oh my God I love this place!! Will 100% stay here every time I come to Sedona!! Great price, great room, pet-friendly, awesome pool area with hot tub, fire pits, BBQ, and great furniture. Thor (best name ever) was very cool and helpful, and Dude the Cat is super chill and likes being petted. The room was simple but offered a coffee maker, fridge, and microwave. Everything was spotless! Cool outside seating at the room, easy parking right across from the room. TONS of food and shopping within five minute walk. AC worked GREAT! This is my new favorite spot to stay in Sedona. One billion percent recommend!!
- Ricky (10/5): Lovely place to stay - Lovely room, staff really friendly, great pool & hot tub. Well located for restaurants, supermarkets, gas station and popular trailhead access points. Would definitely choose again if staying in Sedona
- Kewon (10/5): - Thor was wonderful and extremely personable as well as knowledgeable. The rooms are quite nice and spacious, as well as clean, and the property is near food, drink, gas and even free ice/water distribution.
One of the best rated stays in Sedona for a reason!
- Kaitlin (10/5): - Staff was the best. Super friendly and accommodating from the moment we arrived.
- Nathan (10/5): - Quaint restored motor-lodge-feel
- Paul (10/5): - Very friendly and helpful host, checked in 1 hour early and was no problem. Bonus breakfast basic but enough
- Ki Bok (8/5): - not bad
- Lynn (10/5): - Worth the money!
- Daniel (8/5): - We were not at the hotel very long, as we were just there to basically sleep while we explored Sedona
- Nicholas Joseph (6/5): - Cute little place. Close to many amenities and hikes.
- Tracey (10/5): - The front desk staff were friendly and helpful. The property is dated but well maintained.
- ELVIRA (10/5): - Very nice
- Michele (10/5): - Affordable and right in the heart of Sedona.
- Yuji (10/5): - The staff was very friendly and the location was great. I will definitely come here again when I visit Sedona.
- Christopher (10/5): - We like the hotel and enjoy staying there.
- Joe (10/5): - This quaint, comfortable, clean establishment is conveniently located to everything a traveler needs. Close to restaurants, shops ,and grocery stores, is a hidden gem. My stay was restful and peaceful. I would definitely recommend ,as well as, stay here again.
- Tammy (10/5): - It was cute and comfortable, located with plenty of places to eat and shop at...
- James (10/5): - It’s an older property but very well kept and maintained. It was super clean and the queen beds were comfortable. I slept like a rock. Best part is it’s a family owned business and I love supporting local. Farrah at the front desk is really knowledgeable and knows all the best places to go eat. Just ask her!
- Shannon (10/5): - Very nice and newly renovated.
- Yiyi (8/5): - Nice place to stay. Especially for hiking. Not far from all trails.
- Amber (10/5): - I really loved this cute little place! The lady at the front desk was super sweet. The property was clean and peaceful, and the location was awesome, lots of little restaurants nearby, Walgreens, Starbucks was across the street and the Jeep tours were a blast- those were about a block ish away, I highly recommend doing one of those as well.
I’d definitely stay here again. I traveled with my two kids, ages 4 and 14, plus my sister, and we all had a great time. Definitely a place I’d recommend!
- Christopher (8/5): - The property was adequate and Thor was a great personality. I should have paid more attention to the location when booking.
- Teresa (10/5): - It’s an easy location. Nice staff and very comfortable. Nice pool area.
- Stacie (10/5): Why pay for amenities you don’t want - Cute 1960’s era motel with today’s comforts. Why pay for gyms, business centers, tennis courts if you aren’t going to use them? It had the 3 most important thing for AZ- pool, air conditioning and Wi-Fi. Room was clean, quiet and comfortable. Will definitely stay here again.
- barb (8/5): - Clean room.
Good location.
Loved the pool and hot tub area.
Faucets in bathroom need to be updated.
Included breakfast was a disappointment.
- Clara (10/5): Nice small family owned hotel - Nice little place. Very quaint. The room was very comfortable and clean. Free parking right outside the door. Good value for the money. Room has a cute mini fridge and small microwave.
- PATRICIA (10/5): - Lovely
- Syed Md. (6/5): - very basic place to just sleep and nothing else
- Agnes (8/5): - Property is dated and could use an upgrade
- Joycelyn (8/5): - The property is definitely older, but everything has been updated. Nice bathroom with walking shower. The husband and wife proprietors were very friendly and helpful.
- Sirinapa (10/5): - Good price in a good location
- Karthikeyan (10/5): - Location
- Verified traveler (4/5): - old and over priced
- Verified traveler (8/5): - We loved this place! Thor (who was the one who checked us in) was super friendly and helpful. The place is walkable to good restaurants to get dinner at.
- Stéphanie (10/5): Très bon hotel - Problème d’eau à l’arrivée mais les propriétaires de l’hotel ont su gérer parfaitement les choses. Nous avons dû changer de chambre mais ils ont été adorables…
- Shannon (10/5): - Nice big room, comfy beds and pillows, and super nice workers
- Judy Frances (4/5): - Very old interior and exterior, carpet, tiles in bathroom, tub, sinks need replacement
New paint too
- Verified traveler (10/5): Cozy Family/Couple get away place to stay. - We've been staying at Sugar Loaf Lodge for the past 15 years. They recently did some upgrades. Love the friendly service, clean rooms, beautiful location/landscape. We need some extra blankets, place a call and they brought them right to our door-very accomodating. Would definately recommend them to everyone I know.
- K NADINE (6/5): - Good location on the South side of 89A. Served the purpose.
The room had a fridge, which one night made a very loud alarm sounding noise. The a/c-heater system was also loud with a fluttering noise. When you turned it off, it still stayed on for another 2 minutes. ???
And the drainage in the sink was super slow.
I would have brought this up to mgmt but they aren't on property when I am.
- Jamie (10/5): - It was a nice spot and location was easy. Old establishment but clean and nice.
- Chris (8/5): - Check in was easy. Was assigned a room at the front of the property next to the office. The room was quite large with a king and a queen bed. Small bathroom area but was sparkling clean. We were only in the room a few hours to get some sleep. There were a couple of cons. First, the room is located just off of the main road, lots of road noise. Second, the wall between our room and the next was paper thin. You could hear every word that was being said in the next room. Extremely annoying. Would not stay in that room again. I would like to try one of the rooms in the rear of the property to see what they are like. Really, about 3.5 stars.
- Olivia (10/5): - It was very cute. Had an amazing day. They offered everything that we needed. I would stay there again.
- April (6/5): - The owner of the property was so kind. Checking in and out was simply and quick. The only downfall was the condition of the property. The shower didn’t drain well and the entire room could use an update. Also, there were snacks and beverages for breakfast, but the office was so small which made of difficult for multiple people to get in and out.
- Kristania (10/5): - Was perfect for our overnight stay in Sedona. Close to downtown and hiking. We would def stay again
- marc (10/5): Good stay - Thor was extremely helpful. Room was great. Did not use the heated pool, but did enjoy the hot tub.
- Christy (10/5): Great Sedona Stop! - Super nice host, good coffee, juice, fruit, donuts for breakfast. Clean, comfy beds, pet friendly!
- Yvette (10/5): - Clean, friendly and convenient! Hot tub and pool were AMAZING!
- Amanda (10/5): - Highly recommend staying here while in Sedona! Located in West Sedona - walking distance to many restaurants (recommend Coffee Pot for breakfast, Oak Creek Brewery, and .Tortas de Fuego for authentic Mexican). Easy to get out for hiking trails, $1 shuttle to uptown every hour. We enjoyed West Sedona more than Uptown - would suggest The Vault for drinks food in Uptown. The motel has a pool hot tub, rooms are clean and have everything you need, and free parking on site. No question we would stay here again.
- Shalna (10/5): - The room was clean and spacious. The location was also great, easy to access, and in a nice area.
- Helen (8/5): - Great family owned hotel that is clean and comfortable. Thor was very friendly and helpful.
- Amelia (10/5): If I return to Sedona i will stay there - Cool place. Old-school amenities yet has some nicer upgrades. Seems reasonably priced considering it's in hoity toity Sedona
- Rebecca (8/5): - Cute place. Older with some updates. Good location.
- Misty Leigh (10/5): - Sugar loaf is perfect. It has everything you need for a little less money - it’s super clean, super accommodating and Thor is amazing to deal with. There are multiple restaurants within walking distance. And the beds! Super comfy. Yes - we were very happy with Sugar Loaf and would recommend!
- Kurt (10/5): - The price was right and Thor, the property owner, was awesome.
- Jennifer (8/5): Old timey hospitality - 2 nights in Sedona.
Older motel with some updates. Overall room ok, however needed some minor updates like painting, trim especially in bathroom. Walls thin as we could hear noisey neighbors.I enjoyed the retro touches and original tile in bath. The pool area was the hi light!! And, it was close to several restaurants and stores within walking distance. Breakfast offerings in am were appreciated. Definitely a family owned vibe, which was also nice. My son especially enjoyed visiting with the property cat : )
- Brian (10/5): - Friendly service and clean room.
- sharka (8/5): - Nice place and friendly staff. Great location. I would change the mattress, it was too soft and not good for 2 people to sleep on the queen bed. Thankfully we had double queen so we could sleep separate.
- sara (8/5): - Staff friendly, room clean but walls where thin could hear guest in next room.
