Guest Reviews
- Daniel (8/5): - So I never had the breakfast buffet, while I stayed at the APA hotel in Akihabara. Cleanliness a solid 5
Hospitality a solid 4
Convenience for Shopping, freedom to hop on trains and really discover Japan, and food
Fantastic 10 out of 10.
My only compliant is that the room was a solid 3 at best. Yes the room got cleaned and that was great. But the lack of drawers for clothing was really really bad, the bed was completely worn out, when I asked the front desk for maybe another room, I was told that I could check out with no penality. That was the extent of the customer service I received from the hotel front desk personnel. So I would say this, If you are going to stay at a APA hotel be prepared for small rooms, and make sure you travel light. Good hotel for the location, Ok-ish hotel for long haul stay.
- Brooke (10/5): - Room was small but perfect for my solo stay. Perfectly clean and comfortable.
- Deborah (8/5): - Staff were very helpful and answered all my questions. They also arrange the forwarding of my suitcase to the next hotel. Lots of shops in the area and close to the Ginnza subway.
The room was small but comfortable enough for a solo traveller.
- Justen (10/5): - Room was sufficient and clean. The location worked well for me to travel to other areas in the city and find easy dining options. I didn’t interact much with staff aside from the initial check-in but they were helpful there. It is a shame I hadn’t learned about the company president’s political views and distribution of right-wing reading materials in the hotels until after I booked as I will now avoid the Apa chain in the future, despite my pleasant stay.
- John (10/5): - The staff were all very nice and welcoming, the second floor had a vending machine to purchases drinks (a good variety of water, juices, and teas), and the room was a comfortable size.
- David (10/5): - Everything was right at my finger tips and the people were super helpful. Staying here the next time for sure!!!
- Carlos Delgado (10/5): - The staff was great, friendly and where always there with answers if I ever asked something I would definitely recommend staying at this hotel for anyone looking to stay in this area.
- Sri (10/5): - Best APA to stay at location wise in Akihabara if you wanna do anime and manga shopping!
- sekinah (10/5): - Loved this property, such an easy location to find, right in the heart of electric town. Loved how clean it was , the size of the room was quite spacious to. Iv never been so content with my room. Loved it. Would definitely come back. They also held my luggage before and after my check in which made my solo travel a peice of cake. The prices are very affordable to especially for what the offer. Made my birthday travel experience fun
- PRINCESS (10/5): - Very accommodating staff, accessible to everything and cleaned. Definitely recommended to everyone
- benjamen (10/5): - Great place
- Roy (8/5): - Check in was
- Peggy (8/5): - Enjoyed our stay.
- Sam (10/5): Great hotel in a central location - Great hotel right in the middle of electric city, comfy beds, cold A/C and opposite a family mart for snacks. Tube station 200 yards away
Rooms are small but that is expected in central Tokyo, 2 in a room is max, we had 2 rooms between 3 people (1 child, 2 Adults)
- Melanie Ann (10/5): - There was train locations in walkable distance to wherever you wanted to go.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Always enjoy the APA Hotel - Always enjoy staying at the APA Hotel. Inexpensive and with the necessary amenities. Room was small as expected but sufficient especially since we were out and about most of the day.
The only things I think can be done better or added are:
1) The shower curtain need to be replaced and washed more frequently. They smelled like sour towels on Day 1 even before initial use.
2) A normal blanket in the bed would be a nice touch. The down blanket is great because it’s thick but it works too good where you ended sweating in your sleep.
3) The carpet could use some deep cleaning as they were pretty dusty.
The location of this APA Hotel is pretty good as well. You’re about 8 minutes away from the JR Lines (Akihabara Station) and a few minutes away from the Metro Ginza Line (Suehirocho Station).
- Matthew (8/5): - Perfect for a spot to lay my head. I didn't spend much time in the hotel, but the rooms were clean and property was welcoming.
- Carlisle (10/5): - Close to a couple of metro stations that made getting around really easy. Room is very small (practically no storage except to put luggage under bed) but we knew this beforehand so we were prepared to adapt. Very happy with our stay.
- Mariko (10/5): - Excellent room and location.
- DANNIE (10/5): - Convenient location within 5-8 minutes walking distance to the Akihabara Station and Suehirocho Station. New and clean but the beds are awfully soft, not firm at all.
- Winnie (10/5): - Good area, room is perfect for one person. Built in panel for all controls. TV has casting. Will stay again!
- Michael (10/5): - Location was great. The place in clean, the room is small but is very clean. I would stay here again
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Friendly staff. Fast check in/out. Perfect location many shopping and dinning options Minutes walking. Near train station. Good price .
- Jeriel (10/5): - Convenient, value for money. Breakfast had a decent spread of food choices.
- Hansel (10/5): - This location was very convenient for shopping. I had a comfortable stay. I would stay again!
- Duane (10/5): - Fantastic experience for my first time trip to Japan. The staff and service was excellent! Good communication too, even in English. If you don’t want to spend money on a fancy hotel and looking for just a good place to stay then I’d recommend. Especially if you’re looking to stay in Akihabara!
- Kevin (8/5): - Compact room in the center of Akihabara
- Rahul (10/5): - It was nearby a lot of spots
- Vanessa (8/5): Basic hotel - I would rate it 3.5 stars if I can. Very basic hotel, was staying at level 2 next to he microwave which added to food stench in the room.
Check in was really slow. But good location and clean enough.
- TEHMINA (8/5): - The location was great but the lobby and the restaurant was not god at all.
- Ruben (10/5): - Its in the center of Akihabara 100% worth it if you like arcades and anime
- Nicolas Joseph (10/5): - Apa does its job, no complaints besides wishing this APA had an Onsen/spa
- Ezekiel (10/5): - Suprisingly nice.
- Amelie (10/5): - Very nice breakfast buffet
- Nestor (10/5): - I liked it a lot
- Mike (10/5): - Convenient location, with helpful staff
- James (10/5): The APA chain has a new fan - Since my last stay in Japan 10 years ago, I've seen many of this APA chain pop up on Hotels.com and wondered what they'd be like. Well, now I'm a fan. Yes the rooms are compact but that's typical for Tokyo. Professional, courteous, efficient staff. Very comfy linens. Drinkable tap water a plus. This area is amazing and this particular hotel is right in the thick of it. Only downside is the air conditioning is central, you can't control it. I had a room where the window wouldn't open so I switched to one that did, the circulation was nice but it got noisy overnight. It may be advisable to buy a fan to overcome this, and fortunately there are plenty of places in this area to find them at good prices. Closest train stop is Suehirocho, half a block away, and this was very convenient.
- Luis (10/5): - The hotel is close to a lot of different type of shops
- Justin C (10/5): - Everything was perfect for my trip
- Hongmei (10/5): - Convenient location with numerous stores and restaurants, walkable to Ueno park and Imperial Palace
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Hotel is the perfect spot right in the middle of Akihabara's main strip. Plenty of great dining and shopping places in the immediate vicinity. Hotel lobby is a little squished, but otherwise very safe and clean place to stay
- Ana (10/5): - A lot of plea es to go and enjoy. The barest metro and train are very well conectes to everything. I enjoyed the area and the connections.
- Henry (10/5): - Best location in Akihabara
- Camille K. (10/5): - Excellent and accommodating at all times ! Thank you staff for your smiles and warm assistance
- Muhieddine (4/5): - Place was very clean like all of Japan. Staff was very friendly. Place is on the street where all the shopping takes place.
Now the bad.. I woke up sweating in the middle of the night, and spent 5 minutes just messing with the A/C controls trying to get it to turn to “cool” mode. After giving up, I called the front desk and explained the situation and their response was, oh yea, when it’s cold out then the hotel’s system only allows heating or off, when it’s hot out, the system only allows cool or off. I asked if the windows open and they responded “you can try and if it doesn’t open then you can’t open it” (it did not btw). I asked well what can I do? It’s hot in the room, I’m drenched in sweat and I can’t fall asleep like this. That’s when I was told to open the halfway for it to cool down. Now it’s very safe in the area but I still will not leave my door open as I sleep.
Again this is probably the training the staff received and the reality of the situation but not being able to control when my A/C is on (heat or cool) is a dealbreaker.
Additionally, there are 14 floors in this hotel, yet only 2 washers and 2 dryers for the whole building that are located in the lobby of the building.. needless to say, I couldn’t even get in to wash my clothes.
P.S. I’ve stayed at 2 other hotels and this was not an issue there.
- Khanh (10/5): - Good area
- Aaron (10/5): - Very clean and quick check-in; very close to subway. Excellent service!
- chungkwan (10/5): - Great breakfast
- Agnes My (6/5): - The space is perfect for the two of us traveling. The room is very very small FYI. Elevator takes forever because they are so many floors. Other than that, it is a nice hotel due to its convenience to everything.
- Christopher (10/5): - All of the staff were incredibly kind, considerate, helpful and pleasant to deal with. My room was consistently kept clean when requested and plenty of necessities were provided daily.
Overall, this was one of the best hotel stays I've had.
- rowena (10/5): - even though the room space is so small. the services such as the hotel staff were excellent in services, and they did not look down on us because we are Asians, the supplies like coffee, toothpaste, etc were abundant. these makes up for the small bed room.
the location is excellent, its near the station, shopping areas like 24 hours don quijote, restaurants, electronic stores, etc
the food is also very good, however, my only comment is its the same every day no variations. we stayed for 5 days so on the 4th and 5th day we were not looking forward to eat breakfast.
the price is competitive. tourists on a budget like us can afford it.
lastly, i wonder if APA will maybe consider their laundry facility. they have 2 washing & dryer machines but I dont think its working great.
- Luis (10/5): - Solo male. Everything works. Quiet. Nice infrastructure. Feels new and modern. Bed comfortable. Close to Metro. Size standard for Tokyo hotels. No complaints at all. Recommended.
- Simran (8/5): - Great location, rooms are a bit small but manageable
- Jason (10/5): - It’s conveniently located next to shops and dinning
- Sieu Chan (10/5): - Excellent !
- Eddie (8/5): - Great location. The room has everything you need, although don't expect a lot of space in Tokyo at this price point. The hotel is clean and comfortable. The only downside was the customer service, which is mediocre at best.
- Steven (8/5): - Everything was great. Except the bed was pretty hard.
- Miriam (10/5): - 2 minute walk from a train station and next to all the anime shops. It's a small room but has everything you need for your stay to be comfortable. Would definitely come again!
- Wai (8/5): - Smack bang in middle of electric city, bustling with nightlife, friendly staff, Japenese people are very friendlyin general. Hotel room is on the small side, but you dont spend most of the dwy in there! Would definately recommend this hotel if you want to be in the heart of Akiharbara... very easy to get to from Haneda airport...
- Alicia (10/5): - I always love staying in APA hotels because of their safety and cleanliness and convenience.
- selin (10/5): - Excellent :)
- Kristian Rey (10/5): - Nice place and the staff are so helpful
- Kevin (10/5): - I’ve stayed at this particular APA several times and I always recommend it everytime. This trip I had to extend my stay a couple of days, and it was easily done.
- Cyrus (8/5): - Can’t get more central than this! Everything Akiba had to offer right outside your door. Was a wonderful stay and friendly staff :) only down fall was no a/c only heat and the windows are for emergency’s only so was quite hot at night
- Kevin (10/5): - The dryer takes a bit to dry but it is convenient to have one in the building. Wash takes only 30 minutes but drying with the current dryer is reliably 90-120min.
- Ben (10/5): - Never seen a hotel that has its corridors exposed to the outside, but despite that all the rooms were nice and warm even in winter, checking in luggage 9 hours before my room was ready was nice too, restaurant had good food in the hotel.
- Agapito (10/5): - The beds are very comfortable and clean
- Hanif (10/5): - Had a pleasant stay here. The room that we got was spacious, clean, and comfortable. A bit of a hiccup during check in as my booking through Expedia couldn’t be found but the staff helped well.
Location was very good as well. Less than 10 minutes walk to the Akihabara station and 3 minutes walk to the Suehirochi station. A few convenience store very nearby, and Don Quijote was also very nearby.
In room wifi was great and we got a very big TV in the room that we can screen cast on. Overall stay here was great and we’ll be returning here.
- Will (10/5): Really enjoyed my stay - I have loved my stay at APA hotels and this one was my favorite so far. Super friendly and helpful staff, the room was perfect, and it was a great location. Thank you to the staff!
- Ruby (10/5): - Amazing hotel, amazing cleanliness and super close to everything in akihabara
- Gert (10/5): Good modern well priced hotel in the middle of it - I'm ok with a small room, as long as the shape and design of the room facilitates it. In this case it's perfect. I was able to use the desk and the bed without they interfere with each other (like in other rooms).
Good, clean and with a very nice bed. Perfectly situated on the Main Street of Akihabara close to Akihabara Station, a couple of subway lines as well as Ueno station.
A couple of good convenient stores within walking distance (yes, some are better than others), as well as a couple of supermarkets.
- Seunghyeon (10/5): - Good experience
- Phuong (10/5): - Staff was attentive and contact me prior to check in to ensure I have tge best reception
- Carlos (6/5): It's okay but not acceptable - It was ok but the receptionist had very limited English which made for some awkward and confusing interactions. Rooms are good but extremely small. Pay less and stay at a capsule place because you'll be about similarly confined. Location its its only big plus, as it seats in the midst of several subway lines.
- Edmund Frederick (10/5): - Was very nice and efficient hotel. Much better than I expected
- Joanne (10/5): - Very convenient location, lots of dining options.
- Hyunwoo (2/5): - No daily cleanup. Extremely tiny room
- Andrew (8/5): - Perfect place to crash in Akihabara, located on the main strip next to a lot of the big attractions. Would not recommend if you plan to spend a lot of time in the hotel as the room is quite small.
- Jose (10/5): - Definitely enjoyed staying here! It was right next to Donki which made it so much easier to go around 2am when nobody was there! Best location for easy access to both the ginza like and the Akihabara station the other way
- Van (10/5): - This hotel is conveniently located, being about 3 mins walk from the Suehirocho metro station and 3 mins walk in the opposite direction to Don Quijote. There are a lot of restaurants and coffee shops nearby. As this is Akihabara, there are maids every night on the street. Akihabara Station is about 10 mins walk away. I stayed in a standard room with one double bed. The room is very small, as to be expected for Japan. However, it is well maintained and clean and has all the amenities needed. I would definitely recommend this hotel for solo travellers.
- Danny (8/5): Spacious Rooms - The room was unexpectedly very spacious. The interior of the building and room looked very nice. It's one of the hotels that had enough space to sit at a table without blocking the walking paths and had quite a bit of counter/table space. There wasn't enough well placed outlets for laptop use though.
The bed was actually very soft considering most hotels in Japan I went to was more firm. I prefer firm mattresses but I was still able to fall asleep unlike most other soft beds.
- virgil (10/5): - Always a great stay at APA hotels!!!!
- Kevin (10/5): - Typical APA and their standard fare of amenities. No complaints regarding their hotels across the country so far.
This location is right on the Main Street of Akihabara, very close to the subway station that has Ginza line. Short walk to JR station and the Hibiya line as well
- Chee (10/5): - The location is very convenient, great for shopping in Akihabara. The staff were helpful as much as possible. I wanted to throw away a broken suitcase, but due to the language barrier, they were unable to explain the process of 'sodai gomi' (oversized waste), only that they were unable to help me dispose of the suitcase. I had to look up the process myself later. My room was neat and comfortable, but it was somewhat dusty under the bed. The dust was stirred up when storing my suitcases. Overall, this place is decent enough, I will come back again when in Akihabara.
- Yuko (10/5): - Clean and great customer service.
- Steve (10/5): - Great place, stayed for 3 days and received new towels and etc every day. The dryers on the first floor could use maintenance though.
- Dakota (10/5): - Very convenient location. Top notch service and cleanliness.
- Jon (10/5): - Always love staying at Apa hotels when in Japan!
- Allen A (10/5): - It was a great experience. The location is great for shopping around the area, you can drop off your purchases easily and continue looking around without being encumbered.
The staff was helpful and professional, taking proper care to look after customers in the lobby when we were not sure of what to do next.
The facilities were clean and very polished, I especially liked how functional the sink and bathtub setup was.
The only thing that was a bit troublesome was the heating system, it seemed to be on or off only and didn't maintain the temperature at the indicated level on the thermostat. I just turned it on/off sometimes, to keep the heat down. I wasn't inside the hotel that much, except for washing and sleeping under the covers.
- Jill (10/5): - First time in an APA property and would use them again after this experience. The staff was very helpful and positive. This location was close to metro station. Very convenient!
- Cesar (10/5): - Great place to stay, but in a very crowded area.
- Sam (10/5): - Every good area, both train stations are very close by. Theres few chain restaurants are 24/7 so you can still get hot food after coming back late. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!
- Fiona (8/5): Good location but small room - The hotel's location is amazing. However the room and bathroom is small for 2 people. Only 1 person will fit in the bathroom at same time.
The water pressure for the shower was good and the hair dryer is located in apull pou try under the desk.
The bed is far too soft and when you sit or lie on the bed, you sink on and feel feel the bed frame. 2 pillows are provided and eaxh are quite flat but used together are alright for sleeping.
The room temperature is controlled centrally so even if you can turn on the AC/heater, it was set for Heat mode in December. So even if we turn it on 16°C (lowest temperature setting allowed), it was blowing warm air only. We kept it off thw whole time and did not use the duvet at night, which was very thick, as it was far too warm.
No safe is provided and the 2 laudry/dryer machines can be found on the ground floor in a small room beside the elvators/reception. Cost 500yen for the washing and 100yen per 30min for dyer.
The check in is done on a kiosk (2 kiosks available) with the receptionist available to assist if needed.
- Ashley (10/5): - I want to express my gratitude to the amazing staff who not only provided great support and customer service during my stay in the hotel, but who also helped me find my lost handbag in a completely irrelevant situation that had nothing to do with the hotel - the staff member was a young lady who was prompt and helped me call up the museum I thought I lost my handbag. I was able to find it eventually and just wanted to thank her and the staff for all the help. I am so grateful and will definitely stay here again the next time I’m here in Akihabara because of the excellent treatment. Thank you so much!
- Angela (8/5): Small but clean rooms, good location - Walking distance from many of the Akihabara attractions yet the hotel was surprisingly quiet. Very close to a Ginza line station, restaurants, convenience stores, etc. Rooms were small but clean and comfortable. Bathrooms might be too small for people over 5'8". My husband found the bed comfortable but I found the mattress a tad too soft. If the pillows are not to your liking, you can request down pillows from the Front Desk. Practically everything you need is provided (even a microwave on the second floor) but there's no weighing scale in the lobby, no room safe (but you honestly don't need one in Japan), no lotion. Quick check-in and check-out. Short-term luggage storage on the day you check in and out offered. Front desk staff speak English. Rooms are cleaned every 3 days unless you request cleaning on other days. Leave your trash bins outside the door on other days if you want them emptied. Fresh towels and robes are left outside your door daily. Info provided on the smart TV, you can even check on the status of your laundry using the smart TV. Would stay here again.
- Ricardo (10/5): - Excellent
- Kenneth (10/5): - My window was right up against a wall so I had a nice view of bricks, BUT it was good price on the hotel and its located right in the middle of Akihabara with tons of stuff to do! Also worth noting, you're within <1 min walk to multiple maid cafes.
- Daniel (10/5): - Staff was very helpful
- TING HEY (10/5): - As the latest APA hotel in the Akihabara area (I have stayed in all the other ones), it shares the perks of the other APAs but is also cleaner and newer than the rest.
The hall is tiny like the rest and semi-automatic. You basically do check in and out with the machine yourself, though the receptionist is always there to help. Elevators are fast and plentiful even for peak hours.
The room is compact like other APAs, but the new arrangement and under-bed storage meant it is easier to work around your luggage (you WILL shop at Akihabara!). Super modern room equipment, HDMI for your laptop to the big TV and the fanciest automatic toilet yet.
As it is actually cheaper than the other APAs down the street, I would definitely recommend it over the older ones. It has virtually no noise and smell once doors and windows are closed.
- Fuh Cheang (10/5): - Sit right at middle of Akihabara.
