Guest Reviews
- Phillip (7/5): We had a very nice experience overall with a comfortable accommodation, tastefully decorated and welcoming. - Nice location near to the beach and town The parking arrangements
- Lynne (10/5): Comfortable, well appointed, two bathrooms and close to the beach 5* - Have stayed here before so knew what to expect. It has everything we need and the two bathrooms are a game changer! Loved the quick walk to the beach. Parking a bit tricky but we managed to fine somewhere very nearby so nota major problem
- Philippa (10/5): Perfect location for our stay.. - Very tastefully decorated. Comfortable and safe.
- Peter (10/5): -
- Stuart (9/5): - Location and the place itself, really comfortable and relaxed. Quick friendly responses with any queries.
- Maryanne (9/5): Bright and sunny Whitstable holiday home - This is our second time in this apartment and we enjoyed staying here just as much as we did the first time. We love the location, great kitchen facilities, light and spacious layout and effective heating for colder months. Smart t.v. is a bonus and having 2 bathrooms for a couple is just perfect.
- Alison (10/5): Loved the apartment and the area was lovely - It was close to the beach and the town it was very nice and comfortable
- Lilly (10/5): -
- David (8/5): Nice location. En suite shower door didn't close. Parking a nightmare. - The location eas excellent Finding a parking space was a nightmare
- Norma (4/5): Good location but the property condition was very disappointing. - Very convenient position for walking into Whitstable Property very poorly maintained with a broken shower door, toilet seat not properly fitted. Generally a poor state of cleaning.
- Chris (10/5): -
- Brad (10/5): A lovely host, great position and cosy and comfortable property - Very close to high street and beach. Very clean and great facilities.
- Lily (8/5): - Great flat, with an amazing location. Well furnished Need a deep clean, all the kitchen appliances were sticky. The bathrooms where not really up to date. The stairs with small children are a bit dangerous.
- Allinson (7/5): We really enjoyed using the local amenities, going on walks along the beach and a train ride to Deal - Location is excellent for high street with many independent shops and eateries We were able to park outside the flat. Walking distance to buses and railway station. The entrance hall & staircase to the flat had a very unpleasant smell. There was a bag of cleaning materials left in the hall. Both shower heads need a good descale or changing as the water flow was very poor. The ensuite shower door didn't shut. Ice box in the fridge was so iced up we couldn't use it and it's door did not close. This had defrosted by the end of our stay. The blinds at all windows were difficult for us to use and pull down.
- Ellen (7/5): Comfortable stay - Location is perfect for Whitstable- beach and high street. Beds are really comfy. Kitchen well equipped. Handy having 2 bathrooms. Could have been cleaner, the windows in particular need a clean as well as the blinds. Poor blind quality also meant lots of light came in which isn’t ideal for kids, maybe adding curtains would help. The bannister made me a bit anxious with young children too as not to safety regs with missing bannister at top of stairs.
- Kim (9/5): A pleasant flat in a very well kept area of Whitstable which met all of our needs - The beds were extremely comfortable and ye kitchen was well equipped. It was within a 10 minute walk from the train station and only 5 minutes from the beach! The shower door in the en-suite bathroom was broken at the bottom and there was a lack of bins in the bedroom and lounge room. The blinds were fiddly to open and close so I decided to leave them shut for all of our stay
- Eleni (8/5): - The location is perfect and flat had everything we need. Parked was fine and loads of local places to visit within short walking distance.
- Driscoll (8/5): - Location great No garden. no washing machine
- Alan (5/5): Enjoyable, but cleanliness let the property down - The beds were comfortable and the lounge was nice to relax in. The cleanliness of the property, particularly the kitchen. The en-suite shower head needs to be descaled, and better blinds in the bedrooms which actually stop light coming in.
- Sandra (6/5): The location was great and the apartment would be a lovely place to stay if cleaned. - There was a good amount of room for 4 people though there were only 2 of us staying there. The beds were comfortable and all the linen was clean. There is sufficient cutlery and crockery. The apartment is very close to the High Street and an easy walk to the beach. The apartment needs a very good clean! The shelves were greasy and dusty. The blind cords were twisted and difficult to pull down. The shower door, in the en-suite, at the bottom had a rubber connector which been pulled apart and needed to be connected again. The parking can be difficult as it seems like people prefer to park in Nelson Street rather than a car park. It was a pity about the cleanliness as it is a very nice apartment. The checking in was difficult as well because the computer had not accepted my check in details. After 40 minutes a lady on the phone, managed to with her computer, get the key lock number for us.
- Sarah (10/5): Really nice for a few days away - Nice and spacious and great location Nothing!
- Susan (6/5): Whitstable brilliant, restaurants very good, accommodation proximity to everything great. - Very close to Whitstable High Street. Beds and lounge comfortable. Deceptively spacious. Two bathrooms, one en-suite. Dishwasher. Hot water was not working for the first night. This was resolved next day when our 2nd msg to the owner/management Co asked us to check various possibilities A switch behind microwave had been turned off by someone, not ourselves. Stairs up to first floor was a bit steep for my friend who has slight arthritis in one knee. It was very hot weather during our stay and the bedrooms, particularly the back bedroom were like a greenhouse. We took our own fan but we should’ve taken two. We would have appreciated a dish cloth or similar to wipe down kitchen surfaces when needed. Back bedroom toilet is quite tight for someone of average build. Parking can be difficult as people park in the road to save on parking fees. I could usually find a space around 7/8pm.
- Paul (5/5): Passable - Great location near beach and facilities. Apartment needs a very good clean.
- Katy (8/5): Very good -
- Laurence (9/5): Great place. Comfortable bed, lovely living area. - It was clean, comfortable, great location. Parking was a little awkward, but it was expected.
- John (7/5): Very nice though a little impersonal - Very convenient location. Close to the beach and town. Comfortable with plenty of space and appliances. The communication was very impersonal and often automated, handled by a company with very little personal touch. Also if you a looking for a little flexibility on check out they have very strict very early check out time
- Alec (10/5): Lovely accommodation and location , comfortable and spacious , will deffo return and recommend to friends - Spacious and clean throughout
- James (8/5): Excellent location in the heart of Whitstable - Excellent location, big front room and comfortable beds The communication from the company was excessive. They sent me far too many emails which were all basically about the same thing. The bathrooms are also quite tight
- Elaine (7/5): Just what we needed for a few weeks to be near our family - Good location Needs some updating but had everything we needed and clean. Needs a king sized duvet on the larger bed
- Enid (8/5): Although we didn’t spend a lot of time in the property we liked it. I - It would be better if a bath mat was available when stepping out of the shower. It is dangerous stepping out of the shower onto a wood floor. We ended up putting a towel on the floor to stand on. We also felt the rooms needed a freshen up.
- Warren (5/5): It suited us because it was so close to my daughter. Little things would add enormously to the stay. - Great location for us. Could have been a lot cleaner. And it would be nice to have some connection with the hosts.
- Maryanne (10/5): Light and airy, generously proportioned, clean and comfortable home, perfect location - Light everywhere, neighbourhood view from the lounge, great t.v. options, fast wifi, 2 bathrooms, well laid out kitchen, beautiful art on the walls, ceiling music in kitchen, very clean and spacious.
- Federica (5/5): Passable - Spacious living room, rooms are a decent size but bathroom are rather small. They will ask for extra payment for insurance, and rhis is not made completely clear from the start. If i knew this, I wouldn't have booked.
Fiddly window, and rooms cannon be entirely dark.
The flat is accessible through a steep narrow stairs entrance.
- Pamela (10/5): Lovely apartment but not happy with policy changes with Booking.com - Location excellent I would like to express my concerns over this booking and very late changes to your guidelines
This booking was arranged well before my holiday began. I received confirmation of my booking and a form which clearly states I had to pay a waiver of GBP250 on arrival for any damages and not beforehand. I did not receive any emails from your Company until two days after my arrival in the UK and had no access to the internet and was unaware of the changes that had been made. I obviously had this amount readily available on the day, to pay as stated and, upon arriving at the premises there was no-one there to pay and I had to retrieve my Booking form and number to contact your Company outside the premises and was given the following information
There was no mention of a GBP25 non-refundable deposit including administration costs on any correspondence received from you of which I feel I had already paid for in my booking, nor to my agreeing to transfer GBP250 direct from my credit card in any emails, which I was requested to do on the day of my arrival to gain entry with the number code. The young lady refused my entry unless I agreed to either of the above
I eventually paid the GBP25 as to pay from my credit card and receive a refund in 14 days would have incurred me a different and much more expensive rate with the currency exchange between British pounds and Australian dollars
Whilst I was very happy with the accommodation, I am not at all sure I will use Booking.com in the future when changes to your policy at the very last-minute covering costs for damaged goods is the way in which these bookings are conducted. I should have been informed of this in order to make a clarified decision as to how this would be paid. Being a respectable and conscientious female in someone else’s home there were no damages to anything within the apartment when I left
I look forward to your reply and reimbursement
Yours faithfully
- Azad (8/5): Great little place, great location. - Decent enough, did the trick. Nothing too fancy but slept comfortably and had all the necessary amenities slightly dated decor but this wasn't an issue as we enjoyed our stay there and had more than enough positives. Parking was very difficult, ended up parking in a car park close by - 30ish quid for 24 hours
- Andrew (8/5): Nice property in great location - It was a decent comfortable property in a good location. The toilet in the main bathroom was a little cramped and there was mould around the bath which could have been removed easily really. The blinds in the property didn’t really block out the sun light in the early mornings. Could have done with a wardrobe
- Sophie (8/5): Fab location for a weekend in whitstable - Great location Bathroom was small but perfectly comfortable apartment
- Zhiwen (7/5): Good house. Terrible booking and check-in experiece - Fairly speaking, the flat itself is good, clean and tidy. The location is good, 3 mins to the sea, although parking around sometimes could be very busy especially over the weekend. The bed is not too soft which we like, so slept well. The sitting room is spacious. The dining table is a bit unusual. it’s a big rectangular one right beside the wall, so felt a bit strange when we had meals together, as two of us were facing the wall. However this is not a big issue, and others might like this layout. Wipe cloth, sponge, washing liquid, toilet rolls were all provided. The kitchen has enough cutleries and cooking pans for four of us. Some basic cooking ingredients like black pepper, salt and some herbs were provided. There is a dishwasher but we didn’t use. The agency is a nightmare. My booking confirmation says £250 refundable deposit, but I was asked for £300 & £10 admin fee for processing it. I told them this wasn’t said on the confirmation which is the contract between us and which they should follow! one of their staff initially recognised this and apologised, but next day this same person ask £300 deposit again like nothing happened! I was totally shocked. I contacted the agency’s customer service, but was only told “sorry, our deposit has now increased to £300”. This is too unreliable and tricky. I couldn’t trust them to pay full deposit and went for the damage waiver eventually (extra £30, NOT refundable). We still rate 7, cos it would be unfair for the house itself if we give 1.
- Matt (1/5): Bad -
- Alan (7/5): Lovely property - shame about the letting agents. - The property itself was great & in a fantastic location At the point of booking the total price of the reservation was paid up front, non-refundable. So imagine my surprise when a week before the trip I was told I had to pay a further £25 before check-in instructions would be provided. This was to cover potential damage - but no mention of this was made at the point of booking. I refused to pay it as it wasn't part of our contractual arrangement & Host & Stay agreed to waive it. But the following day they changed their mind & tried to insist it was payable. Again I refused to pay it & they eventually agreed to waive it. So if they haven't changed their stanve be aware that "Host & Stay" will try to rip you off for £25 before agreeing to provide check in details.
- Olha (6/5): Well-positioned but needs some TLC - It is a well-positioned flat - handy for the beach, high street and buses. The living room was roomy and there was plenty of light. The heating was very efficient. Asking for extra money for insurance for damages after confirmation is cheeky (if not unethical). All costs should be up front. In light of this it was disappointing to find chipped mugs and plates as well as damaged kitchen surfaces. The kitchen was not as clean as expected.
- Nathaniel (7/5): Good - The apartment was very light and airy. Beds were comfortable.
Location was brilliant, everything is a short walk away. The whole place was very dusty.
Would benefit from having a washing machine.
- Janet (9/5): Superb -
- Carol (8/5): Location could not be better for all amenities - Good location. Only two us in a flat for 4 so plenty of room. Clean, comfortable beds Very cramped bathrooms made it difficult not to wet the floors. Basins very small causing water to drip onto cupboards below which were rather grubby. Some areas in need of some tlc. Sliding door to en suite noisy.
- Russell (7/5): Nice Flat, But - Dirty windows, smelly Fridge, Bad Blinds.
- Andrew (8/5): We really enjoyed ourselves and would return. Thank you for your hospitality. - The property is very comfortable with lots of space. It’s very close to the beach and a short, lovely walk to the town. Parking was easy and it was a great location from which to explore the area. The bathrooms weren’t particularly clean, but hopefully that was a one off as the rest of the property was very tidy and well kept.
- Susan (7/5): Good location. - Location and size was perfect. Wasn’t as clean as it could have been. Fan in shower room filthy.
- Patricia (8/5): Lovely flat. Good location. Would happily stay there again. - Breakfast wasn't provided. It was a five minute walk from the sea. It was clean and light with everything we needed. Good location to two cafes that did excellent breakfasts. There were blinds at the bedroom windows that let in a lot of light.
- Christina (9/5): Lovely apartment perfect for exploring Whitstable - Great location - 3min walk to the beach
Comfy bed
Property is light and airy No bedside lamps
Extractor fan in main bathroom took a long time to auto switch off
Stairs into the apartment very steep
- Nikki (9/5): A wonderful stay in Whitstable - Great location with both the Sea and Town easy to reach by foot. Apartment was well furnished and well equipped. Free street parking right outside the front door. Comfortable apartment that I would definitely book again. The stairs leading into the apartment were very steep so tricky to manage when carrrying luggage.
- Marcus (9/5): A great stay in Whitstable. Perfect location and well appointed flat - Location is great and the property is lovely The tv controllers don’t work properly due to wear and tear. Only a minor issue.
- Danielle (9/5): Superb -
- Terrell (7/5): Fantastic location but not perfect. - The location was fantastic. Comfortable mattress with good quality pillows and duvet. Lack of places to hang clothes (not coats) and only 2 hangers per room. Shower-head needed descaled and extractor fan was caked in thick dust. One bathroom only had half a toilet roll in it. Only one bedside lamp in each room. You had to lift the bed up to find the ironing board. The apartment felt grubby, lots of dust bunnies and a grimy hob. The outside of the windows were so dirty it was difficult to see out. The kitchen windows are blown, so you can’t see out of those. No cupboard space for food. Really noisy en-suite door which disturbed sleep during the night. Large patch of blood located on mattress protector, which should be replaced if the stain can’t be removed.
- Melanie (8/5): Great Location, Great apartment for short stay in Whitstable - We loved the space. A well equipped Kitchen, and spacious Living-room which were great!
Check in was super simple and it was great to be able to easily contact the rental company.
The location is fantastic, quick access to the High Street or the beach. The bathrooms were small. And the property hadn’t been deep cleaned for a while. I hunted for the ironing board which was under a bed and thick with dust. The air extraction in the bathroom was also thick with dust.
There are no curtains at the windows (only blinds) so the bedrooms were really light in the morning.
It is a bit tired, the property could do with new carpets and a lick of paint.
- Mark (10/5): Convenient with all the comforts of home - Location is fantastic because it is very central. The beach, businesses and transport is all within 5-10 minute walk. Fully equipped kitchen, good heating and two bathrooms were a plus The stairs were a little steep which made managing suitcases difficult. But I think all the properties are designed like this so it is not the fault of the owner/property. If you are driving you will have a problem parking because there is no parking lot. This seems to be an issue for the whole street. Roads are also quite narrow.
- Beth (8/5): great location and comfortable. - brilliant location just off the high street and close to the coast too. nice big sofa and to too. it is quite small in the bedroom and bathrooms. would also be good to have oil for cooking and a few other bits so you don’t have to buy whole bottles etc.
- Marcus (10/5): Exceptional - Snug, clean, well appointed apartment in a great location nothing
- Kim (8/5): On the whole we really enjoyed it, everything else in the flat was good - Property is in a good location & easy to get to all amenities I think that pillow protectors should be used in the bedroom with the ensuite bathroom. Not much space for hanging clothes & more coat hangers needed.
- Jenny (10/5): had a fantastic weekend. great location, great accommodation … will be booking again.. we loved it !!! - great location. clean and everything you need step down from kitchen is not ideal if you have mobility issues, could easily miss it and you are opposite the stairs. maybe a gate on the kitchen would make it safer
- Alfred (9/5): very good - well appointed stained carpet
- Kyra (10/5): Beautiful cosy gem of a weekend getaway. - There was no breakfast included - however we knew that in advance. We did our own had a really lovely stay and the welcome book is fantastic gives loads of info. Parking - it took us an hour to park but we did do it in the end.
- Lara (9/5): Lovely seaside town apartment - This is a gorgeous apartment in an amazing location, just perfect for town and the beach. Very comfortable, lovely decor, well equipped, clean and cosy. Stairs are steep, as noted, including when passing by the top on the landing, which is a bit scary, so maybe not good for kids or anyone with mobility issues. Bathrooms are tight, but high spec. Tricky to get near the loo in one of them. All other rooms are good sized and nicely furnished. No problems with neighbours, though I think they had a seance on Sat night! 😂 Overall, highly recommended and we would stay again. Communication was impersonal and automated, but sufficient and we had no problems except that it says you can leave your bags inside the door/lobby for a few hours after checkout, but there really isn't space to do so and the cleaners didn't have any idea about this so we didn't feel comfortable to leave them.
- Richard (8/5): Very good -
- Mannering (7/5): + Super location, comfy & bright rooms, Netflix/Prime. - WC flush & shower drainage to be fixed. - Location. Having Amazon Prime and Netflix. This SHOULD be included in the description of the flat as it was a BIG attraction when we fancied a relaxing night in. We asked for directions as we walked around Whitstable but a street map would would have been appreciated. The flush of the toilet in the bathroom takes approx. 30 minutes to pop up again and is noisy during this time. The bath needs a shower mat or non-stick surface under the shower! The ensuite shower needs to be unclogged - stood in a pool of water! I don't think it had been cleaned due to 3 black body hairs! In the kitchen a drainer would be helpful for hand washing & a towel for drying hands appreciated. The glass paned door to the lounge has a broken handle on the side of the lounge - we had closed the door and thankfully slid the catch & opened it - we thought we were going to be stuck the night there as we would have had to wait until the next morning to call and speak to you for assistance!
The mattress protector had stains! Stained pillows - needs pillow protectors! Body hair in the ensuite shower tray! On the page to work the TV/Netflix etc. a strand of black hair & similar black hair on the sofa which I removed. My bracelet broke and when I bent down to the carpet to pick up the beads I found other 'bits' on the carpet ie, had not been vacuumed well.
Due to the hair on the sofa and shower tray, yucky standing in pooled water in ensuite shower plus carpets not vacuumed well; in fact I do not think the shower tray was cleaned at all. In spite of very comfy mattresses, we felt creeped out sleeping on the beds with stains under the pillowcases and sheets.
£120 charge to my friend and I for Covid deep clean - we consider that we were hugely overcharged for reasons - above.
Minor thing - include a microwave? (not a deal breaker)
- Hayley (9/5): Superb -
- Julia (7/5): okay - location is perfect -2mins from the beach, thereis limited on street parking but we did always manage to get it. the lounge is decent size, good TV. no microwave, could certainly of been a bit cleaner, needed some more kitchen utensils/cutlery, and it would be nice if basics like foil could be provided. The rooms are very small, as always with british seaside holidays you pay a lot for what you get.
- Robert (10/5): Excellant - Excellent location. Very clean and tidy. Nothing really.
- Fake (10/5): Relaxing enjoyable long weekend - Location & comfort having to use a car park
- Robert (9/5): Lovely flat in a great location, spotless and with everything we needed for a great week away. - Great location, we could walk to everything. Lovely furnishings and facilities. Everything we needed was there. Both rooms were double beds and the bathrooms were lovely and modern. Duvets on the beds were a bit hot for the summer weather, would be good to just have a sheet and throw.
