Room is extremely small for 2 people, the size is available to see when booking. No room for 2 suitcases. booking. Beds are quite hard. Large step up into bathroom, hard for elderly.

• oiga (9/5): - Schönes kleines Hotel, befindet sich im Stadtteil Higashiyama, also ganz in der Nähe von vielen Temple und Restaurants höchster Qualität. Es ist zwar nicht aufwendig ausgestattet, es hat uns aber an nichts gefehlt: das Zimmer war komfortabel und sauber, das Badezimmer war, wie in den meisten Orten in Japan, hochmodern gerichtet, und das Dekor war sehr minimalistisch aber ästhetisch.

Al estar tan en el centro de Gion puedes ir o muy temprano o muy tarde a las calles y templos del sector que son muy concurridos. Tiene un pequeño supermercado cerca No tiene metro tan cerca y está alejado de la estación de trenes. Para tomar trasporte público tendrás que caminar por lo menos 10-15 min

• Elizabeth (8/5): Excellent base for exploring Kyoto - The location was excellent for exploring Kyoto and it was nice to be in Gion. The hotel looked after our bags for several hours after checkout, which was helpful. Room was a decent size for a city hotel in Japan. Coffee pods were not refilled regularly.

Nichts für Menschen, die es komplett leise brauchen. Bin über die vielen positiven Kommentare sehr überrascht und auch über die insgesamt sehr gute Bewertung (nach der ich be meiner Buchung natürlich auch gegangen bin).

Everyone was friendly, and when I had an issue with my luggage transport to another hotel the receptionist sat with me and helped me figure out the issue until it was solved, including helping me call a new hotel and booking a new reservation. Thank you!! Location was perfect - close proximity to many of the temples and shrines I wanted to visit, including Kiyomizu-Dera, Yasaka, and Kodai-Ji. It was also near the bus stop, and the area around the hotel was very peaceful and lovely to walk around, especially at night. Walking to the river (which took about 5 minutes) was a highlight of my nights. Overall I had an amazing stay and would highly recommend.

• Kyuyoung (5/5): Happy place if you don’t expect anything more than a comfortable clean room. - Clean aesthetics of the place. The moment you step into the property, you feel you are in a safe and warm space, which was nice for cold Kyoto evenings. Filtered water dispenser is available for use just outside the room. Very basic rooms but quality finishes and clean. The heating was quiet tricky to use. Both my parens’ and our room got cold towards the morning and woke us up.

The staff were accommodating to not only our whims but all those of others which were staying. Including helpful information on sights to see and which public transport to catch. We will be staying here everytime we visit.

This hotel okay for Travellers on a tight budget, No amenities at all. Just a tiny, bare room.with no view. Unless, you are on tight budget, there are much better options

We stayed for 7 nights and were not satisfied with our choice. - Prime location in the heart of Gion district Musty smell in the bathroom - unpleasant and persistent No heated toilet seat - very unusual for Japan and disappointing Poor cleanliness - dust bunnies floating around the room Noise issues - street noise and sounds from the stairwell clearly audible The lack of basic cleanliness and the absence of a heated toilet seat (a standard feature in Japan) were particularly disappointing. The musty bathroom smell and noise made it difficult to relax after long days of sightseeing.

It was a short walk from old Kyoto (Kiyomizu-dera, Ninnenzaka, Sannenzaka, etc.) and had many bars and restaurants nearby. The room was a decent size by Japan/Kyoto standards, the beds were comfortable, and the bathroom functional. The staff was great and were very helpful. Would definitely stay here again! Nothing.

Excellent position in the heart of Gion, easy walk to plenty of eating and drinking options and Kiyomizu-dera temple, easy bus to anywhere else. The 4pm check in is unusual and tough after a long day travelling. This room was the smallest we’ve stayed in, as was the bathroom, just really impractical for the poor person in the couple sleeping up against the wall. But … I should have known from the photos and description.

• Katharine (8/5): If you’re set on staying in Gion, this is a great option. - Overall this was a great hotel. Street noise was pretty minimal. Room size felt pretty reasonable for Japan standards. Service was incredible! There was a weird smell upon entering my room and after opening the window and turning on the air it went away. I alerted the staff and they also provided a spray to eliminate the odor. My two biggest qualms were that (a) the light from the streets comes through window shades at night. I think this might be common for japan, but I did wear my eye mask, so was ultimately fine. (B) didn’t have a great view. Faced the street and the way it was designed didn’t allow for a lot of natural light to come in. I liked being in Gion neighborhood, given this was my first time in Tokyo, but I found that I enjoyed other neighborhoods more that were away from all the tourists.
