- Sydney (3/5): Poor - Cute cottage. Enjoyed the hot tub. Clean. Well well well, WHERE DO I BEGIN!? Let me be clear here though: I do not carelessly give negative reviews. I give JUSTIFIED reviews which have been EARNED based on my experiences. I refuse to leave good reviews that are not earned.
So, onward --- I was promised instructions would be sent to me via email regarding how to get into the property. I have proof of this. But this didn't happen. No lock box code was provided to me to get the keys from the lock box, instead the front door was left UNLOCKED. I contacted the support number provided to me shortly after we arrived and a ticket was generated but no response. These properties should not be listed on Booking.com if the information cannot all be provided to the customer through Booking.com and correctly. Problems between Big Bear Vacations and Booking are not my responsibility. I was not given the right number to contact customer service, according to the person who contacted me from Big Bear Vacations on Saturday. Additionally, the hot water at the property did not last long enough even for one person to have a full hot bath/shower (even after being "fixed" on Saturday, it didn't last) and the cabin was left at 50°F when we arrived! It took a long time to warm up adequately. Then I was woken up early Saturday on my vacation on my day off to have the people from maintenance come fix the problems of the lock box and hot water. This has ruined my vacation and this place has the nerve to ask guests to check out at 10AM when everywhere else is 11am or noon!? They do this on purpose to get more money out of you by offering "late" checkout for an additional fee. When I spoke to the Eastern European-sounding customer service people from the "right" customer service number (not the 855 number), they were full of excuses and refused to refund me for the first day of my stay which they ruined by not providing support until the next day.
