Guest Reviews
- Ron (4/5): - Very simple, I realized you get what you pay for. The room was livable. However, nothing about it was nice. Not well maintained, Window unit making strange noise, bathroom poor, carpet nasty. Oh well will know better next time.
- Elizabeth (6/5): - Staff nice
- April (10/5): - Clean room great staff
- Modesta (10/5): - Great
- Laurie (8/5): - We had trouble with the tv remote and maintenance fixed it with a new remote. On our last morning two lights were out in the bathroom but I told them before we left. The bed was comfortable, we were given a handicapped room which we didn't need so the bathroom was funky. Complimentary breakfast was nicer than expected
- Buffy (10/5): - Great friendly employees
- bob (8/5): - Furniture in room was skanky
Trash throughout the hotel area
Broken furniture in the back
Parking lot roped off for 5 days.
Matty and other staff were great
- Yvonne (4/5): - Housekeepiwe didn't provide clean towels as requested. Could not reach front office by phone
- Roger (8/5): - The hotel is dated. Room doors are difficult to open Bathroom was clean and linens were clean. Loveseat in the room was worn. Bed was very uncomfortable
- Rebecca (10/5): - The staff was friendly and helpful for anything I needed. My only complaint was there was a Prohibition Car Festival during my stay from Thursday -Sunday. The cars took up all of the spaces in the area where other guests were parking instead of using a parking area for those cars on the other side of the hotel was a lot of vacant space. I had to park away from my room into another section twice because of that.
- Neisha (10/5): - Great friendly staff
- Gary (2/5): - The hotel is very run down and more like a truck stop. Very shady clientele and we didn't feel safe during our stay. Police were called for domestic situation and it is loud outside during the night from guests. Place needs security. Outside is dirty and has cigarette butts and other garbage all over. Staff is very nice and housekeeping does their best to clean very old rooms. Toilet seat was old wooden type and stained and worn out. Horrible! I think the staff know the issues but throws their hands up in disgust. Would never stay there again.
- Rod (8/5): Would Stay Here Again - You can tell it’s older and been through a few renovations. Very convenient location.
- Christy (4/5): - Location
- Caireen (6/5): - Liked the breakfast, staff were nice
- Cheri (6/5): - Room had damp odor. Carpet cleaning would improve this. Bathroom and bed linens were clean. It suited my needs.
- Donna (10/5): - Although our stay was great and we have stayed here before. I wish that the hotel would do reservations to bring it more update to include better lighting in the rooms and outlets for our devices including some at the bedside table. The place is clean but worn and out dated. A FACELIFT WOULD DO A WORLD OF GOOD.
- Austin (10/5): - Workers are amazing
- Candace (10/5): - pet friendly is a plus.
- Nicole (4/5): Bad housekeeping - We arrived at 930 pm, were told there is a $100 cash deposit due for any stay over 7 days which was not mentioned anywhere before check in. We were given our room, had to go request a new room as the given room had not been cleaned and was a disaster. Get to our second room to have the beds a mess, tv on, the coffee pot in the sink and the cups and things all over the floor. Finally get a third room about 30 minutes later and can finally get settled. We had a 10 day stay booked and in those 10 days our trash was picked up twice. Not 1 time was our room cleaned, not 1 time was our coffee station restocked, and twice we had to go to the desk to request clean towels as housekeeping did not replace them. The included breakfast was not bad, the air conditioning worked and the water was hot. However i will not be staying here ever again in the future.
- janet (8/5): - Children running intoad
- Patrick (8/5): - Decor, furnishings and fixtures are dated and worn, bedding was wrinkled, carpets though mostly vacuumed were still dirty. This being said the accommodations were still acceptable for our stay. As stated in my check in review they charge a $100 CASH deposit for 7 days or more which was not stated anywhere when we were booking our stay.
The area is a very busy area close to any amenities imaginable, plenty of food options and shopping within walking distance.
- Robin (10/5): - You want to have a very visible sign board pointing to the hotel.
- Yeilyn (4/5): - The room reeked of 50-year old musty, moldy carpet with a faint smell of cigarettes despite being a non-smoking room. There were cigarette holes in the bed sheets. The top cover of the bed sheets had stains and cigarette holes. The toilet barely flushed. The vanity light worked only occasionally when the switched was flipped on. The bathroom mat was yellow from how old it was. The tv had bright spots, while the rest of the screen was dark, and the remote only partially worked. Checkin was easy and the staff was nice, though.
- Suzanne (10/5): - Love this place and people
- Suzanne (10/5): - Great clean place
- Suzanne (10/5): - Great staff
- Steven (6/5): Several false claims - Check in Gentlemen was very nice room was supposed to be handicap accessible and it had a step in tub. Normal height sink. Pool was not open says they waiting on paperwork from government. Ice makers not working.
- Melody (10/5): - Area was clean affordable for a nights stay
- john (6/5): - Limited food for breakfast, parking and noise
- Barry (4/5): - Smelled like Pet, but it is a pet Friedly hotel and I dont have indoor pets
- Verified traveler (6/5): Fair at best - Not so good: Pool was closed, breakfast food was mediocre, food staff on the last day was rude, room was a bit dirty and outdated, difficult to open door, took our towels to clean but didn't bring back enough clean ones, located behind a delapated restaurant, Good: decent price, close proximity to shops and restaurants, pet friendly
- Verified traveler (6/5): - Acceptable room, although some updating needed, Friendly staff. Outside grounds are poorly maintained and borderline disgusting. Unmowed grass and hundreds of unswept cigarette butts. Breakfast offerings only the absolute minimum. Pool closed; no reason given.
- Ashley (4/5): - This property was dull and rooms only had 2 towels bugs and just seemed firty
- Verified traveler (4/5): Desperately needs updated - We stayed one night out of necessity. The toilet was child size, mattress not comfortable, unpleasant smell (there was a plug in to try and cover it up) lobby was decent and pleasant staff but hotel itself in desperate need of upgrading. Pool was closed for inspection.
- Misty (2/5): - Our first room was very dirty. I spoke with the front desk and they changed our room. Which I did appreciate. I will say the staff is very help and friendly. We felt very unsafe the entire stay and kept a chair infront of the door at night. There were homeless people laying on the sidewalk at night and during the day they would lay under the trees. The pool was closed our entire stay.
- Suzanne (10/5): - Love this place the rooms are great and the staff is awesome. The staff is really what makes this place and they all are kid friendly.
- Verified traveler (2/5): Never Again! - Very dirty rooms, Nats coming up out of the sink, carpet just nasty! People outside partying and fighting half the night.
- debora (4/5): Just say no...do not stay here - This was a disaster, blood stains on bedspread, smelled like pot. No directions for tv, after several tries, got it to work. Ice machine out of order. I was offered to change rooms but i just striped the bed. Light shade all beat up. Cast iron tub has missing enamel. Only redeeming point was the front desk had nice people
- Verified traveler (4/5): - It’s fine but just bad smelling
- Verified traveler (6/5): - Area was quiet and convenient to shops, restaurants and a gas station but the first room looked as if it hadn't been cleaned, had used soap in the shower, hairs and stains on the bed but the front desk did put us in another room after we showed them pics. The 2nd room was cleaner and front desk was friendly and accommodating.
- Suzanne (10/5): - Nice people big clean rooms
- Jennifer (8/5): - The pool was supposed to be open but was closed. The carpet turned the bottom of our feet black. I loved the bed though
- Suzanne (10/5): - Love the people and the rooms are large and very clean
- Shelby (8/5): - The pool was down bc of the pump but but it was a really nice outside pool. Staff was friendly. Shout out to jessica the housekeeper. I would return to this location again.
- Trudi (6/5): - my room had left over trash from prior person. and there were spiders
- Suzanne (10/5): - People are really nice and the rooms are big and clean
- Thomas (6/5): - First off the room was a handicap room it was not,the tolet was way too low so we had to bring or on potty chair and the shower was a regular tub shower andmy wife could not use it
Also the pool was not open on May 30th.
- Lee-Ann (4/5): - We arrived at 11:00 pm. There was a lobby full of people, and the clerk moved so slow you could time him with a calendar. At 11:00 pm, people want their rooms ASAP, so they can go to bed . . . The bed was comfortable in the room. The bathroom door was scratched, significant paint peel. The toilet continued to run after being flushed, until I realized it was happening and jiggled the handle. Dirt was gathered in corners . . . Breakfast food is disgusting. When we were leaving, the building we were staying at reeked of pot. We said something to management. It didn't appear they cared. Whatever. Plus: Love the shower head with the different settings.
- Scott (8/5): - It was clean and perfectly situated near other places, which made it easy to stay there. The breakfast was cereal and waffles. No eggs or meat. But McDonald's was right next door. So, that's where I had breakfast, as normal. The room was a little dilapidated, but passable. And the staff was exceptionally good. Five stars on the staff. The lights outside do make it a little difficult to sleep if you don't like any light in your sleeping room. Overall, recommended and thumbs up.
- Sarika (6/5): - Good for quick on the way trip stay. The room kind of smelled as it was being smoked in.
- Catherine (6/5): - hotel would not allow us to check in at 3
- Laura (8/5): Needs to be upgraded - The hotel definitely needs to be upgraded. The dresser in the room wouldn't even open; the drawers were stuck. The TV was too small for the size of the room. The photo doesn't even look like the room.
- Dustin (6/5): - Loose outlets without covers behind the bed, had to get keys programmed several times throughout the week. Not a terrible stay but definitely did not match the filtered pictures online. Rooms could really use refreshed
- Autumn (6/5): - Good spot for attending a speedway event. The hotel is a little outdated. The room was clean.
- Catherine (6/5): - better than i thought it would be my only issue is we were not able to check in at check in time. The person behind the desk was great and texted us when the room was ready but it was over and hour late.
- Derek (4/5): - It’s in a good area for eating and shopping but the rooms are old and air conditioning barely works
- John J (8/5): Reasonable value and ok stay. - It was a night stopover to visit friends right off main road. Rm 107 had a bed with a bad mattress seemed to have an indent on the edge. And the tv had to have the plug pulled out it would not turn off. Refrigerator was cold and shower was hot and good pressure but tub looked old. Would try it again. Close to food. Applebees across the street.
- Joel (10/5): - Staff is great super helpful and very easy to work with
- rich (10/5): - Good
- Truly (8/5): - Great location for attending MerleFest in April. Staff was accommodating for setting up the sofa bed in one of our rooms. Convenient breakfast.
- sergio (8/5): - Ok place
- Melody (8/5): - Friendly and clean
- Kristy (10/5): - The staff is very nice and property is clean. Very enjoyable and close to dining and shopping. Conveniently located off 421.
- Tanya (8/5): Hopefully next time will be updates. - We have stayed here several times, you get what you pay for, but they are doing renovations so I’m hoping next time will be better. The room had dirty sheets, and pillow cases. The bed itself was extremely thin. I e did get clean sheets and the customer service was excellent.
- Amber (6/5): - I prefer to not share
- Matt (10/5): - Easy check in. Clean and staff is nice.
- justin (2/5): - I walked into the door and was met by over 30 dead “stink bugs” and multiple others crawling on the curtains and ceiling.
- Michael (10/5): - Great value safe near everything you need.
- Anne (2/5): - 1st room looked at had bed bugs
2nd room looked was dirty and the walls were thin loud neighbors
:rd room bed was falling apart and smelled bad
Didn’t stay here went to Holiday Inn Express down the street
- Verified traveler (2/5): Stay away!! - Worst stay EVER!! As I am checking in the cops pull up. I asked if the place was safe and was told yes, though my passengers heard a complete different story from the cops outside. The place is ran down. The room stunk. The tub was so nasty none of us took the shower we really wanted to take. The bath mat was covered in mold. The walls were all dirty. The headboard of one bed was broke at the top. The light’s between the beds worked when they wanted to. Just over all a BAD place! Spend more money and go to a better place!!
- Jackson (6/5): - There was trash under my bed, and the bathroom was definitely not as clean as it should’ve been. The beds were not super comfortable. However, considering that this hotel was very inexpensive for the area, I am relatively happy with what I got.
- Christy (6/5): - My stay was ok. Rooms need an upgrade, better beds and new carpet. I got a great rate for what I needed but would pay more next time for a nicer place to stay.
- Crystal (10/5): - Everything was great!
- Tanya (10/5): Good and friendly hotel. - It was for a funeral in our family. Everything in the hotel was nice. They need a better Continental breakfast. But everything else was good. Friendly staff.
- Selena (10/5): - Nice
- Austin (10/5): - Staff was really nice
- Debra (8/5): For a quick stop- not vacation - Good for a couple nights. Rooms very clean, but maintenance issues regarding bathroom door and chalking. Not enough outlets available to charge phone and hearing aids and still have lights plugged in. Both evenings heard nextdoor person talking loudly enough that I pounded on the wall to encourage him to quiet down. Pleasantly surprised that free breakfast included waffle maker, juices, coffee, tea, yogurt and Jimmy Dean sandwiches, cold cereal selections, and fresh fruit. Wish they had instant oatmeal selections in their cereal basket. VERY reasonable rates! Pet friendly (for minimal fee). We’ll return as family lives in the area.
- Shannon (6/5): - The staff was really nice and the room was very clean. My biggest issue with this hotel was the bed, it was the most uncomfortable bed I have ever slept in.
- PAMELA (6/5): No hairdryer or water - Be advised...No hair dryer in the room and none at the front desk. If you need a hair dryer, bring one with you. I stopped there on the way to a job interview. There was no water and no hairdryer even if I had been able to wash my hair. The water situation was out of their control, but it would have been nice to have been offered a partial refund for the inconvenience. I wouldn't have expected a full refund because we did sleep in their beds and the room was clean.
- Austin (8/5): - The room i got only had a tub no shower and there was a sketchy person living in the woods nearby but otherwise a great time
- Casey (6/5): - This was the 4th time we have stayed at this hotel. Normally we have no issues, but this time the room was in very poor condition. The smoke detector was hanging off the wall, one of the beds was missing the mattress topper, the microwave was missing the rotating dish in the center, and the dresser had broken drawers. Overall the room was just in a very poor state.
- Francisco (10/5): - Good
- Amos (4/5): Unsatisfied - The room was very unclean there is cigarette ashes all over the bed when I come in there's cigarette ashes or some substance on the nightstand there is a used bar of soap in the shower on the soap dish it is not being vacuumed the room smell of cigarette smoke very very strongly the doors can barely get in the lock stick handle does not turn right you got to basically break in
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Good place to stay!!
- michelle (6/5): - Worker gave us a parking pass that said room 312 , our key cards said 321 , so at 3 am in the cold I had to try room 321 several times did not work looked like someone was already in there , found room 312 and it was the room. 2nd night one room card stoped working . Then the last night #4 both cards were not working, when I went to get new cards told the women room 312 and my name , she looked it up said it’s room 321 so I told her the whole story and said this is night #4 I’ve been in 312. Someone needs to fix soemthing in the system.
- Harry (2/5): - Torn carpeting, very bright outdoor lights bleed around the drapes, cold cold shower, noisy.
- Barbara (4/5): Room review - Bad beds. Terrible pillows. Not enough wash clothes and towels. Not creamer for coffee. Musky smell. No handrail in shower. Pop machine kept quarters
- Patrick (6/5): - Cleanliness was sub par, inadequate outlets(one was behind bed unusable), extension cord for microwave and mini fridge. Bathroom very tiny, shower rod not properly attached to walls. Window cover did not fully block Window. One of the double beds was not on a frame. Furnishings were outdated and in poor condition. Tv was in poor operating order.
- Kelly (8/5): - Breakfast set up was poor. Hoping for more selection
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Very clean. Double beds but no queens available.
- Marriane (4/5): - Room was okay. Bed was okay. Bathtub had a bug in it & hairnon the shower walls still. Cloud have been cleaner.
- Leonel (8/5): - Toilet flush handle wasn’t working properly
- Verified traveler (6/5): - The room was okay, the big problem were the beds. They were sinking in the middle and it made for a rough night of sleep.
- Verified traveler (10/5): It’s so good. - Nice stay. Close to many restaurants nearby. Staff is friendly and quick. Room is given with mini fridge & microwave. No hypes, just to the point. I’ll use this place every time when I am visiting Appalachian.
- Auston (8/5): - Road noise at times its safe in my opinion you have plenty of stores and restaurants around good place for the money only a few days though unless you make good money
- Chris (6/5): - Great location but could use updating
- Dawn (2/5): Must upgrade restrooms - The picture on the website would have been acceptable, but reality is this is the lowest grade of a hotel because the bathroom is from the original construction. I chose not to stay and definitely didn’t want to take a shower
- Alison (10/5): - We stayed here while we didn't have power in our hometown due to hurricane Helene. The staff was very nice and accommodating. We were very stressed and they eased our minds for the few days we stayed there.
Thank you to them all!
- Brian (2/5): - Rude front desk. No tv service. No phone service. Very uncomfortable beds and linens. Delayed checkin for 2 hours. Last time i will stay att any choice hotel
