Guest Reviews
- Sarah (2/5): AVOID AT ALL COSTS!! - I would give this property a zero if i could!
We turned up to check in at the property around 15.30, we were supposed to get a code 24 hours before for the key box to gain entry, which never arrived!
So i knocked on the door of the adjoining house, nobody answered, i rang the telephone number given on the website, nobody answered.
I could see through the window that the bed had been slept in and the covers just thrown off, so they obviously hadn't changed the sheets or cleaned! Judging by the host's actual house, it looked very cluttered and unclean, so im not sure i would have been happy to stay there anyway tbh.
So i finally found a number for hotels.com, and spoke to somebody who also tried to call the host to no avail.
I was then passed to another department where i had to explain it all again, to which he said he wanted to try to call them.
I was starting to get a bit angry as we were going to a wedding reception, 2 hours to go by this time and nowhere to stay!
The man on the phone also didnt get a response from the host, so he proceeded to offer us somewhere else to stay.
I got up the app whilst i was yet again put on hold, then was offered a very basic looking place, like a hostel, i said no to that and the next option, but we settled on The Castle Bromwich Hall Hotel.
I was on the phone 1 hour 12 minutes sorting this out, by the time we got tgere and into the room i luterally had 1 hour to get ready.
This place is just a joke!
- Melanie (4/5): - Felt unclean and grimey and greasy smell. Sticky floor and cupboards. Random selection of cutlery including only 1 fork. Woken up by person on motorbike talking loudly on phone outside the window which would of been ok only the window is broken and does not shut properly. Planes start early also which is very loud due to broken window. Not sure there was clean bedding on as didn't not smell fresh. Broken tiles in bathroom, shower blocked. One small tiny bin in bathroom only. Filthy kitchen sponge.
- Verified traveler (2/5): Sorry - but no. - I dont normally go out of my way to give negative reviews but this time i had to. I booked due to a last minute change of plans for a work trip which possibly didnt help but I was very disappointed with this place.
As noted by another recent review (I only saw this morning) the place was very dirty with a grimy shower, a used and rusty razor in the shower rack, broken tiles in the bathroom beside the toilet (unhygienic and dangerous). The bathroom was cold, smelt of cigarettes, and had a motion activated light which meant everytime I turned over in the very uncomfortable bed - the bathroom light came on.
Food left in the cupboards and I had to use an empty bottle from the car to drink from as the only drinking vessels were cups stuck to the shelf in the cupboard by grease.
Unfortunately the app wont let me add pictures for some reason.
The only saving grace was how close it is to the airport but i wont be back.
- Sarah (2/5): Would not recommend - I was extremely disappointed with the lack of cleanliness and general poor state of this accommodation. The bathroom smelt strongly of cigarettes and there were cigarette burn marks in several locations in the property. The doors and door frames were grubby as were plugs on appliances in the property. The tiles on the bathroom floor were cracked in many locations, especially around the toilet, which looked very unhygienic. The pillowcases were severely creased and I was uncertain if they were fresh or used. There was food left in the fridge and cupboards. There were cobwebs around the ceiling above the bed. The parking area to the front of the property was overgrown and covered in litter.
We did not stay at property and made alternative arrangements. I messaged the property via the app in this regard and did not hear back.
- Helen (8/5): Comfy at the Cosy - My trip was last minute so my reservation was made on the day of arrival. In spite of this I received the check-in/ access codes within an hour of the reservation.
The studio is the annexe or possibly garage conversion but had exactly what was needed; comfortable bed, shower room and kitchen area.
Kitchen crockery etc was basic so I would suggest adding additional crockery and some glasses. I'm sure I could have requested these but for a single night's stay, it wasn't an issue. I would stay here again for NEC events as only 15 minutes away.
