Guest Reviews
- Darren (9/5): Brilliant stay thank you, will deffo think about staying again if im in the area - Loved the location and the property and everything inside that it had to offer. Very unique place Scaffolding on the building and workers outisde the property at 8am in the morning. I understand it needed doing though to make it look more presentable from the outside.
- Iain (3/5): Not a good way to start your stay - Good location This was an apartment booked through Booking.com. On arrival there was no heating and the boiler was not working, having rung the lady who deals with the apartment she eventually messaged back and apologised but couldn’t take call. She arranged for a maintenance guy to attend and 45 minutes later he did. He got the heating working but we couldn’t use the towel rail in our en suite as it was leaking, the sink wouldn’t empty properly and a thermostat on the radiator was broken. Strange how when I mentioned this via email to the lady previously mentioned there was no response. All these things you would have thought would be checked prior to guests arriving. The towel rail had a container to catch the water so obviously been leaking a while. Not what you expect hence the score !!

- Louise (10/5): Exceeding expectations - Excellent location and pristine rooms. Everything was in perfect condition and it was easy to access.
- Maxine (9/5): Great views in spacious apartment - Lovely spacious apartment, very comfortable, great view of the abbey and harbour, Nothing
- Anne (7/5): We liked the location and area but were disappointed with the response to our complaint. - Comfortable, good location Scaffolding obscuring the promised stunning views. Whilst I do understand that when work needs to be done on the exterior scaffolding may be necessary, not being told about it in advance was the problem. I am afraid that the response of ‘I didn’t know about it’ is not an acceptable excuse.
- Stuart (9/5): Lovely apartment with great views. - Lovely location and views. Bit fusty in the bedrooms.
- Kath (4/5): Not good, - Great location. Stunning views of the Abbey. Large lounge and well fitted kitchen, both of which were very nice. The smell of damp in the bedrooms was overwhelming and made worse by the amount of air fresheners trying to mask the smell. The carpet in the main bedroom was damp, and there were brown stains on the ceiling and the carpet where there was clearly a problem with water damage. The cleaning was poor, and when I pointed this out, they did send the cleaning team back to redo it, which was appreciated, but nothing could be done about the smell.
It made it an unpleasant stay.
- Michelle (9/5): Fantastic stay definatley will be back❤️ - Great view and only ten -15 minute walk to the town with a couple of nice pubs on the way.
Lovely apartment, comfortable beds and clean throughout. Fantastic view from living room and kitchen. Loved it! Needed a cloths airer for wet days as too warm to pop the heating on as is summer.
Mirror needed on the wall in the second bedroom as no where to see hair and make up etc, toilet brush needed in second room.
All were managed without but would be nice additions.
- Dan (9/5): High quality, spacious and clean. - Exceptionally clean and spacious property. Met house keeping as I wanted to park the car up early, they couldn’t have been more helpful.
Property is an upside apartment with living room and kitchen upstairs and bedrooms were downstairs, this in my opinion helped reduce noise helping a quiet and comfortable sleep.
Kitchen was stocked with fresh milk, tea, coffee and biscuits. Washing up liquid, dish washer tablets and drying towels also provided. I’d be nitpicking for the sake of it so in general, a hard property to be negative about.
- Andrew (10/5): A place for concerning travellers. - A particularly good 'grown-up' accommodation, serving our needs perfectly: lots of space / quiet / clean / very accessible / close enough to the centre of the action but not so close it suffers from the associated noise that spills out from it / dedicated parking / all-in-all, it has the amenities associated with being at home.
Great communication from the host. Parts of the property in need of a "bit of love & attention", but as these are generally superficial and do not affect the overall benefits gained I mention this to provide a full review.
- Lynne (8/5): Very good -
- Verica (10/5): A lovely apartment overlooking Whitby, can’t fault it - Excellent location and lovely accommodation, perfect for our stay and would definitely stay again if in Whitby Nothing
- Cheryl (10/5): We would definitely return to the property. Great base to unwind in. - The views, the location, the amenities were all excellent. Bonus to have its own parking space close to Whitby. Peaceful location. Comfy bed. The television was a knack to operate, some minor maintenance needed. Nothing major though.
- Johanna (9/5): Fabulous stay! - Everything! Fabulous bright spacious property in a fabulous location with amazing views! The only slight criticism we had was the heat. The apartment was very warm and was difficult to moderate. That said, certainly didn't detract from what a fabulous holiday we had.
- Caroline (9/5): Superb -
- Adrian (8/5): Enjoyable - Lovely property in a great location
- John (9/5): Superb -
- Joanna (7/5): Good - The view and the cleanliness.
Kitchen equipment and the natural light upstairs
The comfort of the furniture and the good state it was in.
The security and access instructions. The plumbing was troublesome.
If one tap or shower was being used no other taps or showers would work.
The taps at the sinks and showers were difficult to use as they didn't have clearly discernable hot and cold symbols.
First two days of our stay were during an unseasonably cold period and we couldn't get the heating to work.
The staff tried to help from a distance but we couldn't achieve a result.
The lighting in my bedroom was very low.
The toilet flusher leaked small amounts of water.
- Shaun (9/5): Superb - Views are brilliant.
- Christine (8/5): Excellent location. Beautiful, historic property, which was tastefully decorated accordingly. - Great views. Light and spacious living room and kitchen. 2 bathrooms. Foisty smell downstairs in bedrooms.
Slope coming back from town to property was a little challenging, but I have knee and back problems so probably affected me more than it would others.
- John (8/5): really lovely place to stay - views location facilities size parking lower bedrooms did have a musty damp smell otherwise it was prefect
- Lynda (9/5): Superb -
- Susan (10/5): Sue and paul - Beautiful apartment fantastic views Nothing
- Lynne (10/5): Perfect location with stunning views of the harbour and the abbey. -
- Irene (10/5): A relaxing home from home break with everything you need - Excellent location, clean and comfortable with beautiful views of Abbey A musty smell in bedrooms but it is a very old house , so to be expected . Also outside furniture and space was a bit on the poor side compared to the apartment.
- Anonymous (7/5): Views Live up to apartments strap line - Very clean and well equipped great having a parking space - the views are truly stunning especially of the Abbey lack of wi if despite advertised and attempts to contact - this also meant that some of the apartments equipment eg Alexa and catch up tv etc were also not available
the outdoor seating was also in a bit of a state whilst we appreciate you can’t really stop seagulls depositing a cover would mean it was easier to use and not require some considerable cleaning
- Brian (9/5): We had a great time. Hayley, the host contact is great. - Up a small hill. I have angina and it was no problem for me. Nearest pub 5 minute walk. Key collection caused me problems. The address is Campion 1 Whitehall. I went onto the adjacent estate called Whitehall landing. To get to the property there is a driveway that you turn left into from Spitalfields Bridge. If you turn left onto the road you have overshot it.
Turn left onto the driveway, go immediately left once on the driveway your parking spot is there. To get the keys work past the stairs on your left, keep the house to your left you will find the key box on the wall on your left.
