Guest Reviews
- ThePageFamily (8/5): - We needed to stay near Huddersfield on the way back from the Lake District. This place fitted the bill. One son had a room to himself, and my wife & I had an adjacent double room.
Limited car parking is available if you're lucky (which we were)! Just be careful NOT to park where they tell you not to park!
We were greeted by a friendly lady and some locals in the pub. We ended up having a few drinks and also eating in the bar, so that worked out really well. Large portion size if I remember correctly, and good service with a decent price. Thanks for that!
Overall, we had a good stay for a decent price, a nice meal and a few drinks with the car parked just outside in the car-park. So we were happy bunnies. We were at the front of the building. A little bit noisy on the night-time, with it being karaoke night (I assume it was as there was a lot of singing!), and it is a fairly busy road into downtown Huddersfield outside. But, it was okay for us.
- David (7/5): Functional, comfortable enough. .Just needed pet friendly room and parking space at short notice. - Convenient for where I needed to go. Staff were friendly and accommodated my very late checkin. The booking.com hotel description said there 'may' be a surcharge for pets, but there was no confirmation as to whether and how much until I was asked to hand over an extra £20 before going to my room. Would have preferred more transparency here as they have you over a barrel by that point.
The room was good enough to lay my head for the night, but there was a noticable damp patch on the wall above the wardrobe in room 3 where the wallpaper was coming away.. it seemed to extend into the bathroom with discolouring on the sealent near the ceiling - significant roof leak most likely. I saw no mould but something needs attending to there or itll get worse and you wouldnt want to be breathing in mould overnight.
- Rob (10/5): - Nice warm welcome.
Lovely room, just right.
Well kept ale.
Less than half a mile from my destination next morning.

- Cyril Gordon (8/5): Apart from the non availability of weekend breakfasts, this is well worth a repeat visit. - Very good evening meals.
Simple but homely meals, just what i wanted.
Service was also good.
I could stay there again just on account of the evening meals No breakfasts on weekends.

- Eddie (6/5): Happy with what I got for the money I payed!! - Didn't do breakfast which was a bit of a surprise to us,as mostly all places do,traffic was a problem noisey most of the time even though their was screens in place to stop the noise of passing traffic, woke mostly 5am as traffic got busy from then onwards, but that can't be helped!! Shops very close which was a bonus. If breakfast menu was available would have been nice wouldn't have to leave frist thing in the morning to get it.
- Kenneth (9/5): - Clean, quiet and cozy
- Neil (5/5): Would not return to stay overnight. - Pub & staff friendly Room full of dust. Radiator covered in fluff & dust hanging from the ceiling which we cleared ourselves. Room was freezing cold throughout the night.

- derek (7/5): It was OK - the facilities met our requirements for a one night stay Breakfast was not available, no hair dryer
- Dylan (1/5): Terrible experience - Nothing because it was closed when we arrived! We arrived at the property and it was closed! Tried multiple times with OYO to get a refund but the croppers arms won't get back to them regarding the booking to issue a refund. Its been 4 weeks now and im still no further forward with them. Id avoid this property incase this situation ever happens to someone else!
- Helen (8/5): -
- Kenneth (8/5): -
- Jim (9/5): Superb -
- Nicky (1/5): I’m not pleased because they took my money but Booking.com is only give me back half - The Croppers Arms had closed down and we couldn’t gain access to the venue. The Croppers Arms had closed down and we couldn’t gain access to the venue.
- Julie (1/5): Disgusting - nothing - the hotel had closed down but they took my money and confirmed the booking the day before we travelled 140 miles for my sons graduation to find the hotel had closed down - OVO company very unhelpful - absolutely disgraceful and soooo stressful
- Ann (1/5): Bad - This property is closed - our reservation was cancelled on the day of arrival 30 June and we are now trying to get a refund would recommend you stay elsewhere
I can't believe it is still showing availability This property is closed - our reservation was cancelled on the day of arrival 30 June and we are now trying to get a refund would recommend you stay elsewhere
I can't believe it is still showing availability
- Tracy (1/5): Not pleasant had fine alternative accommodation so that we could attend our friends wedding… not what we needed or paid - It was easy to park in the empty carpark. Difficult to say as we were unable to enter as the building was clearly closed and not open.
- Lee (1/5): Ruined my life - It was closed down it’s a scam Do not book
- Andy (1/5): DO NOT BOOK THIS PLACE IT IS NOT TRADING, but booking.com is still taking none refundable bookings - N/A it is not trading
- Zoe (8/5): Very good - Just what we needed for our stay. Lovely little pub. Lovely welcome.
- Tracey (6/5): Croppers Arms, lindley - The staff were lovely. The food was delicious. The bed was very comfortable The room was dirty. Dust on the blinds, mold in the wardrobe and pubic hair down the toilet. There were stains on the cushion covers
- Hayes (7/5): Good -
- Lihua (6/5): - The room was hot but there was no cooling or ventilation.
- Aimee (9/5): Superb -
- Alex (10/5): - Unfortunately the four glass recycling bins at the back of the property were emptied early in the morning, creating great noise and waking us up. Otherwise OK.
- Jason (6/5): - ok clean no breakfast or evening meal on Mondays
- Ann (8/5): I needed somewhere close to Huddersfield hospital - Hosts and staff very helpful and friendly despite being a pub it was very quiet at night Wi-Fi was very poor kept buffering but was given password to another WiFi as needed to be contactable as husband in nearby hospital.
- Maumbe (4/5): Disappointing -
- William (8/5): Great place for a short stay in Huddersfield -
- Dave (8/5): Very good - Traffic noise wasn't good,
- Geoff (2/5): Tired and worn accommodation so try somewhere else - Booked and paid for a deluxe room but got a standard room. Room was small, not very clean, and very tired. Only had three coat hangers to hang clothes, so asked for more but none available!!! Shower was awful, going boiling hot and cold all the time. Room was noisy and stuffy. No room service so left rubbish outside door but not collected. Had to wait until following day when our one toilet roll ran out!!! Bed was a standard double and not a queen size as we had booked. Really disappointing place to stay. Won’t stay here again.
- James (8/5): Very good - Welcoming staff on arrival.
Clean room, all the facilities you need for a short stay.
Bus stop in front of the pub.
Private entrance to bedrooms ?
- Anita (4/5): - I always check reviews before booking accommodation and they looked reasonable.
I have to say that the staff (and we dealt with most of them) are absolutely lovely. The greeting was warm (thank you Meaghan) bar staff, chef, cleaner - all very pleasant :-D
However, the property is advertised as having housekeeping each day. This is not the case. To be absolutely honest the bathroom was filthy. No attention paid to corners, sink and shower plug-holes etc. A really good fettle is needed.
We stayed 4 nights and the property burglar alarm went off every night. It was mentioned each day, apologies were received but the staff rotate and nothing was done to stop it happening the next night. This is all such a shame because the location is great for getting about and it is a good pub.
- Brett (10/5): Comfortable room in good location. - Comfortable and clean with parking. No breakfast but we knew that.
- David (1/5): Bad -
- brian (8/5): - Nice and clean. Friendly staff and good food
- Phil (1/5): Very disappointing - Location is ok Got no sleep due to an alarm going off 4 out of the 5 night stay. I raised the problem with staff but nothing was remedied. This property is advertised as a hotel but there are no hotel facilities and no staff on duty throughout the night.
I will not be returning to this accommodation
- Mary (10/5): - Ruby welcolmed us with a warm, friendly welcome. Thank you for making our stay so lovely
- Kathryn (8/5): Very good - Comfy beds, clean room, parking

- Mark (1/5): Bad -
- Nidhin (10/5): Exceptional - Food :) excellent
- Darren (9/5): Superb - Nothing
- David (10/5): Croppers Arms - Great little Pub on the outskirts of Huddersfield, rooms where spotless, staff very friendly, and the food we had was 1st class
- Suzanne (8/5): Very good - Convenient location. Great food in the pub.
- William (9/5): Good location, nice room - There is free parking available, it was a convenient location for my visit. The room was clean, warm and comfortable, with TV and tea/coffee making facilities. No breakfast but there are several cafes close by and a reasonable size Coop opposite.
- sara (6/5): Not great - The room was ok but the 4 nights we stayed there there was no fresh towels or bins emptied we had to afk for fresh towels
- Declan (10/5): Fantastic - I am very happy with my stay it was my second time with you Everything
- Hannah (9/5): Cosy pub great value for money - I didn't have any of the food at the pub as I arrived after the kitchen closed but we were able to order a pizza and sit in the bar area. The room was really cosy and clean. Cherie was really friendly and helpful.
- Kerrigan (6/5): Pleasant - Really comfy bed There’s no iron in rooms and because no one works there on a night other guests have free rein to do what they want like banging all night
- Edgarffer (7/5): Good for a short stay - Easy check-in
Convenient car park at the back
Comfy bed
Good shower
Good WiFi It was perfect for a short stay
- David (7/5): Good -
- Mal (9/5): Superb - The friendly welcome from the staff. It was a lovely, local pub. Food was great, I recommend the pie, mash, mushy peas, and gravy. The bedroom was very comfortable, nice and clean. The uphill walk from the town centre. It would have been nice to have been able to have breakfast there, although the staff did recommend Bex Café, a 2 minute walk away, which was excellent.
- Karen (10/5): Exceptional -
- Karen (10/5): Great value, lovely people, perfect! - Booked very last minute due to family emergency. Ruby was fabulous. So helpful, caring and friendly. Will be booking again for future trips.
- Karen (10/5): Exceptional -
- Michelle (10/5): A lovely place to stay - Room.was lovely and staff were very helpful and friendly. Nice pup atmosphere food was nice too. Easy to get to by car and also plenty of bus stops and shops to cater for most things. Taxi was the opposite, too. Stairs were a bit steep for me but managed to survive. Also no chair but I think if I had asked staff would have accommodated me
- Sylvia (10/5): My stay was very enjoyable would definitely stay there again - Staff very friendly and helpful
The food was excellent The only downside was no WiFi connection but other than that a very relaxing stay
- Michael (8/5): A nice friendly pub ! - The Croppers Arms is a nice friendly pub with lovely, kind and helpful staff. The rooms, which are immaculate, are above the pub so not particularly quiet till closing time but that is to be expected. Home cooked tasty bar food available.
- Susan (8/5): Very good - This is a friendly, welcoming pub with very helpful staff. The rooms are clean and comfortable. It's also easily accessible for visitors arriving by public transport.
- colin (8/5): nice place - working away so it was only aa quick night away so can't say to much but all seemed good
- John (8/5): Very good -
- Ivan (8/5): Great value and comfortable stay for visiting the city for work - Lovely staff, good location with loads of buses and cheap simple food options including locally roasted coffee at Bex's. Comforable modern room and the pub quietens down around 10pm most nights Bathroom was good overall but the ensuite shower needs work - weak water pressure, temperature was either freezing or boiling hot and the electric shower unit was a bit confusing to use
- Mohamed (8/5): Very good -
- Christopher (7/5): Disabled access - Comfortable bed, good nights sleep. bar staff were helpful It's not very good for disabled people. The shower needs regrouting and looked very dirty in some parts 9f shower. The cold tap in my room was very loose.
- Sibs (10/5): Exceptional -
- Hazel (10/5): Exceptional - Great location for a Christmas event in Linthwaite, with easy parking and nearby taxi service.
- John (10/5): Christmas - Easy access out of hours. Clean warm room.
- John (9/5): No problems except lack of breakfast. Several cafes nearby serving breakfast. - Nice room good tv. No breakfast available.
- David (10/5): - Exerlent reception, no problems
- Josef (8/5): Very good -
- David (8/5): Friendly pub with rooms - The pub was very friendly and welcoming. Pub food was good with friendly service. Good beer & nice wine. Ruby was very accomodating.
Room awkward to get to (certainly not suitable for anyone with mobility issues) being on the 1st floor but up some really awkward turning stairs.
The room looked as though it had recently been refurbished. It was clean, warm & inviting with tea & coffee making facilities.
Bed was quite comfortable with a very warm duvet.
The bathroom was compact & relatively clean. However, the hot water was 'scalding' hot, certainly too for me let alone a child! The cold tap was not securely fixed & rotated when turned on making it difficult to turn off. Shower was adequate but could have done with a thorough clean.
Overall the room was acceptable but I felt the bathroom let it down (which is easily fixable).
- William (8/5): Great short break - The accommodation was perfect for a short break. Breakfast is available at a choice of nearby cafes. You have separate access to the accommodation and do not have to go through the pub to get in and out. There is free wifi. Tissues in the room perhaps
- Dave (10/5): Exceptional -
- Craig (10/5): Exceptional -
- Dean (7/5): Good - Very comfortable Little noisy up to 11.00am
- Andrea (8/5): Enjoyable stay - It was a cosy room with a comfortable bed.
The Staff where nice and helpful.
it was near to where l wanted to be. The only thing l could say is at first view everything looks clean and tidy. But there areas that could of been dusted or bin empty.
- Glenn (10/5): - The staff were very friendly & couldnt do enough to help, the pub itself is fantastic, great food and beers to suit all tastes, the bed was very comfortable and i thoroughly enjoyed my stay, higjly recommended 😀
- colin (8/5): friendly pub - great friendly pub
- Gill (6/5): - Average - room was clean but shower cubicle was not great - mouldy and small - did not use it because of this. Area is average but there is parking in the middle of Huddersfield- no breakfast either didn’t realise when I booked
- Conrad (4/5): - I found the property did not live up to high expectations .
- julian (10/5): - Seguro que volveré.
