- Belinda (9/5): Nice Location and Clean - The kitchen was big, with lots of seating, and had everything you might need. Room was clean and comfortable. Great location to the town. Plenty of free parking. Thin(ish) walls/ceiling. My room was at the top of the stairs, so could get loud with folks walking up and down the stairs, and with the family (kids running?) on the 3rd floor.

- Luba (9/5): Friendly and very accommodating staff, the room was warm, clean and cosy. - Room was a little bit small, but clean and comfortable, had everything you might need. The kitchen and communal lunge area was well equipped, cosy and pleasant to use. Can not think of anything, room was not the most spacious one, but we knew that and it was cosy.

- Yvette (10/5): Was perfect for our one night stop, would definitely return and recommend to others. - The spa which was a real treat, comfortable clean en-suite room at a reasonable price, accommodating staff, well equipped communal kitchen and dining area with free milk, coffee, tea & popcorn!, central location in village Spa was great, but not very private, and no changing facilities, so you had to walk across the driveway back to your rooms to change, but there was no one around, and it was a warm night, so worked very well for us.

The welcome muffins were also much appreciated. So far, it's been the best place that we've stayed at in New Zealand. We would highly recommend it. Nothing, it was perfect.

- Ádám (9/5): Mega Unterkunft mitten der Bergen mit sehr guten Service. - Super Lage mit wunderschön eingerichteten Zimmern. Wir fanden die Küche, das Wohnzimmer mega ausgestattet. Die ganze Unterkunft war sehr sauber. Die Isolierung ist etwas schlecht, sodass man die Nachbarn deutlich hören kann.

The bathroom was very small and cramped. Granted, we're tall people, but it was nearly impossible to wash our faces without water spilling everywhere. Smaller people might have a more comfortable experience.

The bedroom was so comfy and spacious, we slept so well. The kitchen was clean and they provided popcorn, homemade soup and hot drinks. It wasn’t the properties fault but other people were loud till quite late at night/ early in the morning, maybe remind people of the quiet times? Some people seemed to just help themselves to the popcorn without using the scoop, quite unhygienic but again not the properties fault.

- Freya (9/5): Amazing! - Wow, what incredible value for money! This property has so much to offer, a nice big kitchen to cook, lovely lounge, the bed and room were so comfortable! The spa was an awesome addition and we really enjoyed this ammenity. They also had free soup and popcorn, it was very cool! Location is right in town so it's easy to walk everywhere. We were very impressed by this lodge.

I had a private room shared facilities and was never waiting for a shower etc, the room and hostel was so clean, and they have thought of everything. The free soup, and the cookie and water on arrival are all amazing. The hostel is in a perfect spot in town, and the staff all go above and beyond. 10/10 recommend Nothing

- Hettie (1/5): Basic, avoid if possible - It was in a good location. Ok for a night stay, you pay for what you get but they couldn’t even do that for us! Where do I start.. we checked in and were given the keys to our room no. 105. The receptionist showed us to the room and when we opened the door to the room the bed hadn’t been changed from the previous people staying there. My partner went back to reception to say this and brought the receptionist down to show her, she apologised and said house keeping must have missed the room. We then went back to reception and were given room 103. Lovely room, appeared to be clean. Then we got a knock on the door to say that someone was booked in here tonight and that we would have to go to room 105 again and that the receptionist would ‘clean’ the room for us. My partner walked past the room as she was doing this and all she did was tuck in the sheets from the previous people. We then were given the keys to 105 again and upon inspection it was evident that all she did was tuck in the sheets and give us new towels! There were hairs on the bed from the previous people and the sheets had evidently been slept on. We went back to reception to complain about this and the receptionist didn’t even apologise for not changing the sheets. We asked for a refund and she then offered to give us room 103 again. All we got as compensation was 2 free drink vouchers for their partner restaurants. We obliged in taking it as it was getting late and we just wanted a place to stay. Not what we wanted after a 4 hour drive. Then this morning we were very rudely awoken at 7.30am by a house keeper coming into our room to I presume clean the room. This made me question, was room 103 even cleaned properly before we stayed there.

A great option for a stay in Franz Josef. The walk to the glacier from the hotel takes about an hour and is highly recommended on a sunny day.

- Elke (8/5): - We had a very pleasant stay in Kea Lodge. The accommodation was clean, comfortable, and well-maintained. The room was equipped with everything we needed for a short stay. The location was convenient, with easy access to nearby attractions and restaurants. The check-in and check-out process was smooth and efficient. Overall, we would recommend this place and would consider staying here again. One minor point to consider is that there was no wardrobe or similar storage space available. This was not an issue for a short stay, but it might be something to keep in mind for longer visits.

There is a well equipped shared kitchen and complimentary soup and popcorn. Clean towels and shampoo/soap were provided. Although clean and neat, the shared bathroom and toilet is not to our liking. Private attached facilities will be better

Comfortable , immaculate, and the best stocked kitchen I have ever seen in a hostel. I had a twin room with shared bath, which was absolutely spotless.

- Angus (8/5): Lovely communal lodge feel, with some great extras! - Nice communal facilities with free soup of the day and free popcorn while we were staying. The name also doesn’t lie! We say lots of wild kea parrots on the roof of the lodge and around on the trees. We could hear people in the rooms around us. Be prepared to sleep with earplugs. We fell asleep straight away with ear plugs and didn’t get disturbed after that.
- Ruby (4/5): Friendly old youth hostel than a hotel - The staff, the location, the fluffy ginger cat and the welcome muffins! I would say the room was clean! I wouldn't call it a hotel, it's more of a youth hostel with an out dated kitchen and a trashbin which was not emptied regularly enough. The room is far too small for the price, you couldn't put 2 luggages down for the standard twin room and the bathroom is pathetically small, the small hand basin is the smallest I have ever seen in my life! The light in the corridor seep through strongly into the room, and the non sound proofing walls made us hard to sleep.

- Christine (8/5): Fantastic communal areas - Lovely welcome, clean room with huge communal kitchen Our room had the tiniest en suite imaginable, it was spotlessly clean but if you are over 5 feet tall, you'll have problems in the shower - hubby is over 6 feet & had to almost fold himself double to shower.
