Guest Reviews
- Kent (10/5): - Clean room, nice bathroom, friendly staff.
- Ben (10/5): Timeless comfort at a historic gem…(Plaza hotel) - The Plaza is an excellent hotel. Located in the heart of Las Vegas. The restaurant is professionally run with an excellent staff and great food. You must experience this hotel.
(The coffee that’s provided in the lobby,is removed way too early.) other than this minor detail I would highly recommend this historic hotel to anyone staying in Las Vegas, New Mexico. Ben Valdez
- Laura (8/5): - Very nice historic hotel. The room was very pretty with high ceilings and vintage furniture. The rooms have different conveniences in them, so double check that yours has what you want (ex mini fridge). They have a nice lounge and a restaurant. It is in a great location with a little shop inside. If you’re looking for an all white very bright, modern hotel, this isn’t for you. But if you’re looking for a pretty, historic place, with a beautiful staircase, and a feeling of being in another time, consider this hotel.
- Mark (10/5): - Room was clean and quiet. Everything worked properly. Beautiful historic hotel with nice staff.
- ted (10/5): - Shops nearby good pizza place across the street ac worked well
- Denise (8/5): - Just a great and interesting historical hotel. So fascinating to take in all the history and the people in the far past, and more current that have stayed in certain rooms that is written up on the walls all over the hotel.
Better than any modern hotel by far.
- Teresa (8/5): - .
- Gail (10/5): - Enjoyed staying at such a historic hotel. A sense of what it must have been like, while having modern conveniences. Nice large room with good shower. Interesting shops around the plaza to explore.
- Mary (10/5): - Gtrat stay!
- Mary (10/5): - This is such a quaint place to stay.
- Sue (8/5): - Beautiful old hotel filled with antiques. Its age shows but it’s worth a stay. Las Vegas is a bit run down but we found some great local businesses.
- Kimberly (10/5): - Beautiful historical location
- Michael (10/5): - The restaurant was perhaps the best food in Las Vegas. We ate both breakfast and dinner, and the food was well prepared, the service was exceptional, and once the liquor license is approved, I'm sure the bar will be the nicest in town.
- kathy (10/5): Great historic hotel - Stayed here because of the movie New Country for Old Men and suppose to be haunted Didn't see any ghosts but still wasn’t disappointed Food in hotel restaurant was very good. Room was a little small was very clean and comfortable. Liked the decor and front desk staff
Would stay here again
- Scott (10/5): - Nice, clean and affordable.
- Theresa (10/5): - The cookies were delicious.
- Amorita (8/5): - I like the vintage look! It was beautiful 😍 the hotel itself had that old smell.but if you add some plug ins in the room. You can fix that right quick :) id stay again.
- Laura (10/5): - Steps from the square
- Tim (10/5): - Fun and clean
- Paul (8/5): - The Historic Plaza is an amazing hotel. So much history in the gorgeous building. To start with, we booked this hotel for our anniversary. We decided on a room that had two when beds. Didn't think anything special. When we checked in, unlocked the door there was a sitting area with a leather couch. One door led to the bedroom, the other to the sink. The commode and tub were behind another door. The ceilings were at least 14' high. The room was furnished with antiques which added to the ambiance. The windows were great with drapes pulled back on decorative hooks.
You could actually open the windows if you'd like some fresh air. Thought about it and that's when I noticed a hornet sitting on the glass. I captured it and took it down to the front desk and have it to him in the cup with a lid. To say we were surprised to have a hornet in our room is an understatement. No harm no foul.
Great night's sleep, very comfortable beds. Got up that morning, opened the drapes and lots and behold another hornet! Ugh. I went down to get a cup of coffee and let the front desk know. By the time I got back to my room, my wife was able to let the journey out of the window.
This is a gorgeous hotel. The room's amenities were great.
Two more things, the baked goods counter doesn't open in time, was really hoping for something fresh baked.
The pizza joint across the plaza is delicious!!
- Katherine (6/5): - Charming historic hotel, lovely park across the street, very friendly staff. The restaurant seemed to be having staffing issues, it was better the lasttimewe were here. We ordered dinner, chicken fried steak which was good, however the sides were cold. Everything had a heavy coating of pepper and oil. For breakfast they were over an hour late opening according to advertised hours, no update but word of mouth by other guests was given. Again, pancakes overcooked, too much oil and pepper used. (Note: I have been in restaurant industry 50+ plus years..and I am not trying to be super critical)... It is time for matresses to be replaced. I have stayed here in the past, and really enjoyed our stay. The staff and hotel are charming, just needs a "glow up" to bring it back to Belle of Southwest Status.
- Sheila (10/5): - The bed pillows were excruciating
- Jeanne (10/5): - I really enjoyed the historic ambience of this hotel
- Blaine (10/5): - This historic hotel was fun to stay at. Charming atmosphere. Spacious room and clean bathroom. The bed was comfortable but the high ceilings and antiques were a bit dusty. Dining onsite was good.
- Dennis (10/5): Kansas visitors - This hotel is very well kept. The history is so interesting. Located on the square with easy walking to my favorite Antique stores. The room was quiet and spacious. The gift shop was a plus. The restaurant was very busy. Plenty of parking in front of the Hotel.
- Robert (10/5): A great and interesting place to stay. - I love staying at this historic hotel. The staff is great and the hotel is beautiful and interesting. The air in the morning on the Plaza is wonderous, so fresh and smells great.
- Aaron (4/5): Dirty - Very dirty carpet and a very musty room had to buy air freshener and leave the window open to air it out. Bathroom was dirty especially the toilet Regis was our go to hotel in Las Vegas but we won’t be going back
- Alfred (10/5): - We love historic properties, so this one fit the bill. Many films made at this location, and the rooms are all labeled with which famous people have stayed in them. Beautiful old hotel. You have to be okay with creaky floors and a bit of dustiness (It's 140 years old).
The only problem is the restaurant. It opened late and closed early, so we never got to try it. There's almost nothing open on a Sunday evening in Las Vegas, NM, so that's an issue. Restaurant staff (understaffed) arrived late to open on Monday morning, so we had to skip it.
But a fun place to stay if you like history.
- Kenneth (6/5): - The food at the restaurant was not good
- Antoinette (2/5): - You charged me and they had no rooms had to go with another hotel. I called you all and told you they had called and said no rooms availabel hayou
- Victoria (10/5): - Love the history displays curated on the walls! Such a cool vibe.
- Von (10/5): - Nice quaint with charm and history
- Cheryl (8/5): Not the Same as Last Years Stay!! - So disappointed that the wonderful bar was not open!! After a long day of travel we had to go to the Pizza place for a beer!!
And we had planned to go to La Castaneda where they had a great restaurant and bar with entertainment last year! Also closed!!Not the same place without those amenities!!
- Karen (10/5): Gorgeous historic building - The place is fascinating and a treasure. We are so glad we stayed here for our night in Las Vegas. Enjoyed walking around and browsing the antique shops.
- Steven (10/5): Not a cookie cutter - If you like unique, historic places or are simply looking for a clean, comfortable room for the night this is a great option
- Paul (10/5): - Ashtabula
- T.J. (10/5): - They put me in the haunted room (310). But, it was cool. He didn't mess with me. Much.
- Francine (10/5): - Great place to stay
- Ramon (10/5): - This room didn't have a microwave, fridge or a coffee pot. Really would have been nice to have those things. Very spacious room thou
- Dale (4/5): - Had to go to the front desk to ask for toilet paper. It remains to be seen if I’m charged for it. Reusteraunt food took an hour to cook and it was cafeteria quality. The potato was orange and must have been in a warmer for 12+ hours
- Heidi (10/5): - This hotel was everything we hoped it would be. It’s a great location right on the plaza which makes everything very walkable in this cute town. The hotel feels and looks historic. The dining room has good food. I would definitely stay here again.
- Michelle (6/5): - We were in the area just passing by to Colorado and the road that leads to the front of the hotel was closed due to the 4th of july celebration. With the luggage was hard to get to the hotel. We couldn't find parking. I wish it would've said something when we were booking the hotel. But we weren't given that option.
- Peter (6/5): - Good price and location. Rooms are tired. Very loud window AC unit. Elevator out. Restaurant food good, service very slow. Hotel needs to be refreshed
- Jennifer (8/5): - We were there for a wedding and it was easy to walk to reception.
- Denise (10/5): - Historical hotel, beautiful. Very nice stay!
- Kyle (2/5): - Broken elevator, 29 stair steps, inadequate air conditioning, no restaurant despite representations it was in business…dangerous neighborhood, no help with luggage up 29 difficult stair steps
- Karen (10/5): - Plaza Hotel is a unique property. I always love staying here due to its historic significance, size of the rooms, decorative furniture, and comfort of the rooms. It is also nice having the restaurant and bar onsite. Many little shops and antique stores are within walking distance. However, on this visit, the restaurant and bar were not open, and the tv system had some issues on the 3rd floor. Even with that, I had a wonderful stay and will have to return when the bar and restaurant have re-opened.
- RJ (8/5): - Splendid and ornate and historic.
- Alfred (6/5): - This was my second time staying at the plaza hotel. The check-in process was more complicated this time, and the hotel did not have the restaurant, bar, and cafe that they have had on the past, so the wait was arduous. The room was nice, quiet, and air-conditioned. There are many nice restaurants in the area.
- Geoffrey (10/5): - The elevator is temporarily out of service, but they put me on the second floor as a result.
- Alexandria (10/5): - Always a great place to stay.
- Shea (4/5): - The elevator is out of order, so for someone carrying large luggage, it was a huge inconveinence. There is a sign on the check-in counter that says they can assist with luggage but the gentleman at the counter said he couldnt do much since his arm was in a sling. I asked about a place to hold or store luggage and he said he didnt have anywhere. So I drug my suitcase up the stairs to the second floor. The room is fine except the bed had visible stains on the white sheets and the hot water doesnt stay hot. Unfortunately I found this cool looking hotel to be disappointing.
- David (8/5): Rich history, worth the stay. - Good stay. The elevator is out of service, and I could have used that, this we had to carry bags up a long flight of stairs, while I'm cane-walking. The dining room remains closed, probably thru the summer, but there are other nearby eateries. Rich history with this hotel, all very cool and worth the stay.
- Christopher (10/5): Great stay wonderful old hotel - This historic hotel is a Jen on the old square. Old world charm and a wonderful staff. Will definitely return when we are in New Mexico.
- Cirrie (8/5): - We really liked the historical story of this place but, we didn’t know dining would not be available and the options around the Plaza are very limited. Also, our a/c started making a horrible noise in the middle of the night and it took someone about 30 minutes to bring a fan up. A visitors guide would have been helpful for the hotel and the town. Most things close at 5pm on a Saturday and are not open on Sunday.
- Laine (8/5): - Wonderful historic hotel with many pictures and interesting antiques.
- Jane (6/5): Historic - Beautiful historic old hotel, stayed here, several times. This time the elevator was out and had to carry my old 71 year old self and luggage up a long flight of stairs and wound up in a room with probably the worst view in the hotel, but still love the place.
- Elisha (10/5): - This historical property is always amazing. I have stayed here several times at it’s fantastic. It’s rich in history and is beautifully done. I only wish we had seen a ghost 😁
- Jamie (10/5): - We stayed here the last night of a conference, and we were amazed. We had been looking for a reason to stay at this hotel and we were not disappointed. The room was large and was beautifully decorated. The best was comfortable. We really enjoying walking around reading the plaques about who had stayed in each room and looking at the pictures. It was fascinating to learn the history. We would stay here again
- Patrick (6/5): - No cafe
- David (10/5): - NA
- Joyce (8/5): - It’s a nice nostalgic hotel. Quaint and cozy with lots of history. It’s like being back in the 1800’s. Baseboards and nightstand legs were dusty and needed cleaning.Overall, good
- Joseph (8/5): - Close to the Ball fields we're playing at. The pool.
- Rosa (4/5): - Room 212 shower curtain dirty. No elevator. 98 year old dad had to go up and down stairs to 2nd floor. Carpets were dirty. Stains on cloth on chair in room 212. Poor tv service. The staff was very friendly and helpful.
- Lisa (8/5): - We enjoyed this property because of it’s a historic nature, and the staff was nice.
- Michael (10/5): - The staff, were incredibly nice. Especially Sean.
- John (8/5): - This is a historic gem that takes you back in time only with modern comforts. A must stop for a stay in the original Las Vegas. The staff is great with lots to see in the area. The dining options are limited but tasty.
- Lenka (6/5): - Restaurant/bar is closed permanently. Our room was not in the main building but in an annex. The room was very dark because our window looked out onto a wall.
- Valerie (8/5): - I loved the uniqueness of the decor and furnishings. There were lots of fun historical books about. The plaza outside was beautiful
- Ronald (10/5): - Plaza Hotel in Las Vagas, NM is very nice Historic building with an interesting history. Accessible shops, galleries, and restaurants within walking distance. The staff is very friendly and helpful.
- Sean (6/5): - I'm glad I stayed as it is historic. However the room was just fair. And the tiny pillows were not a hit.
- Rosemary (6/5): - Pleasant stay. No air conditioner, no elevator or dining or bar. But we Appreciate the historical experience.
- Jeffrey (8/5): - X
- Verified traveler (8/5): Lovely historic hotel, sad environs. - Lovely historic hotel. Hand-crafted wood furnishings, creaky staircases, old-school glamour. Only drawback was the plaza which the hotel fronts. Nothing scary, just deserted. The hotel restaurant and bar were both closed, along with almost every other business. The only food/drink option in walking distance is the NYC pizza place.
- Julio (6/5): In need of care - We booked two rooms for one night. The hotel has very large rooms with wide hallways and high ceilings. It is interesting from a historic point of view. However, it is in need of some care. The restaurant and bar in the hotel are shut down. The elevator was not working so we had to carry our luggage by hand up the stairs. The rooms did not have air conditioning, this was the most inconvenient aspect of our stay. Both rooms were very hot and there was no air conditioning available at the time, not even a ceiling fan to cool down the room. We were looking forward to our first time stay at this hotel but unfortunately we will not be back and we cannot recommend it to friends or family.
- Michiko (10/5): - Quaint hotel in downtown Las Vegas, NM. So much charm and character! One of a kind for sure!
- John (8/5): - In past this was a superb place to stay. However some recent events have lowered the satisfaction -of the stay. First the lounge and restaurant- which were excellent by the way - have recently closed. No information was provided as to when new ones may open. Also at the time we were there the elevators were not working. The room was very nice, comfortable and clean. The price was reasonable.
- Pamela (10/5): - Staff at the front desk was lovely he promptly got us a new room when our rooms ac was not turned on
- Ted (6/5): - The property is a great historic hotel, but it had no air conditioning and the elevators were broken
- KING (10/5): - Old time feel well maintained
- Catherine (4/5): - No elevator working. The restaurant and cafe were both closed. They stated when we we called that they were opened
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Great hotel, awesome staff, and amazing restaurant. Very well kept for a hotel over 100 years old, it was like traveling back in time to the old west. Both my family and I enjoyed it very much.
- Julie (6/5): - I like the historical stuff in the hotel what didn't I like no air conditioning working elevator didn't work had to carry all the luggage up to second floor
- Lila (10/5): - Lovely historic hotel! Will definitely visit again!
- Raquel (10/5): Quaint - We enjoyed our stay at this vintage hotel… it was like going back in time but with all the modern amenities.
- Wayne (10/5): - Very classy and reasonably priced historic hotel -- top notch!
