Guest Reviews
- Oluwole (10/5): - Super clean and very quiet hotel
- Chris (2/5): - The fact that the hotel was undergoing refurbishment was not mentioned anywhere when booking. I was woken up at 7AM by loud machinery and builders directly outside my room. The restaurant was also closed for refurbishment and so there was no breakfast available despite the property advertising that there was. When I mentioned this to the reception staff, she was totally not interested and just stated that there would be no refund. The rudeness of the staff and the current state of the property made my stay very unpleasant.
- Natalie (4/5): DO NOT STAY! - Awful
- Chris (2/5): - A building site without a restaurant!
- Sarah (4/5): No restaurant and no breakfast, undergoing refurb! - A disappointing stay mainly as a result of false advertising. The hotel is currently under refurbishment which means there is no breakfast, or dining facilities.
The room itself was lovely, well decorated and comfortable no problem with that but we paid £221 for just a room and a bed!
The hotel did contact us via email after I made my booking but I had booked a non-refundable stay so couldn’t change. They also did offer a takeaway breakfast option but as a family we wanted the chance to have a good hearty breakfast before a long walk and then the chance to relax in the restaurant in the evening.
So for that really disappointing.
Once finished I am sure this place will be lovely, but be warned until the 6 October there is no restaurant which is very different to the advertising on Hotels.com
- Sydney (8/5): Wonderful staff - Katrina was such a key part in making my stay here so lovely! After a long day of traveling I was put in a room that was very hot and after simply asking her for a fan, she not only provided one but also was able to change my room to one that was a lot cooler.
- michael (10/5): - breakfast was best I have ever had, good quality and good amount. large car park, Staff friendly and helpful
- Richard (10/5): Short but sweet - Lovely room, great staff, nice food.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Good Hotel - It was very hard to find anyone working on the reception. The staff once in attendance were helpful and polite. The breakfast was good with the average English breakfast options available. There was however not much of a variety of vegan options.
- R (8/5): - Property under refurbishment so lacking in basics in the rooms
- COLIN (10/5): - Fabulous friendly staff very efficient, best breakfast ever!!
- Michelle (10/5): - Lovely place to stay the night whilst we were visiting Chatsworth House. Nice and quiet ample parking. The room was really clean and everything we needed was provided even a fan which was a god send as the weather was sweltering. Had a perfect nights sleep. The staff were amazing and extremely friendly both at the reception and in the restaurant. We had both and evening meal and breakfast the food was lovely, hot and well prepared. We had drinks in the garden over looking the beautiful field's so peaceful. Would thoroughly recommend.
- Michael (4/5): Ok wouldn't rush to stay again - It was ok I've stayed in much better for the Money. Only one towel between two of us shower gel was coming out of dispenser in very small amounts. We had to pay early check in fee for less than two hours early we were on top floor and as we traipsed around to out room we saw no one cleaning any rooms. There were a few poor areas in the bathroom with missing silicone.
- Andrew (6/5): Good value for money - Staff in hotel and restaurant/bar excellent. Sunday roast average and wouldn’t have again. Rooms need air conditioning
- Philip (10/5): - Always very clean and tidy and very quiet.
Excellent bed and shower.
- Ruth (10/5): - We had a lovely stay at this hotel and really couldn’t fault it all. The staff were lovely, warm, friendly, very kind & obliging, the room had all the facilities you needed, was very clean, quiet and had fabulous views. The food in the restaurant was very good & offered a nice selection. The continental breakfast was perfect (muesli, granola, mixed berries, yoghurt etc - all my favourite things) & they even provided oatmilk. Above all that it was exceptional value, so we’ll definitely come again if we’re visiting the area. Thanks to all the team, they are a credit to the hotel.
- Christopher (8/5): - Nice staff and should improve once the rooms have been updated. But the bar closes too early.
- Liz (10/5): Great place to stay - Excellent all round. I arrived too early to check in but was able to leave my luggage. When I got there (much later) to check in, my bag had been put in my room for me, which was really appreciated. Staff were all charming, helpful and friendly.
- David (8/5): - The hotel was originally a Premier Inn, and has been taken over by Chatsworth, with plans to renovate it. The room we had was good. The breakfasts were good, and evening meals were OK, but just traditional pub fayre. Staff friendly. Reception needs to be signposted better, but I guess that will be all part of the refurbushment.
- Tom (10/5): - The location for the Peaks is fantastic and it’s more affordable than staying in the Peaks itself. We stayed as a family of four and have stayed here before prior to its rebrand but it could do with a bit of TLC. The lady on the front desk was very friendly and also engaged with our young children which was nice. There is a bar/restaurant connected to the hotel, where we had a drink, but we didn’t eat there. Free parking and a less than one minute drive into the Peaks - brilliant for what we wanted.
- Oonagh (4/5): - The bed was extremely uncomfortable. I raised this with staff only to be told that nothing would be done until refurbishment later in the year. There was no apology or acknowledgement .
- Marianne (8/5): - Good for an overnight stay. Breakfast had a very good range of continental and cooked options, nicely presented All staff very polite and friendly
- Alex (8/5): - Nice room just what we needed for overnight stay
- Richard (10/5): First Rate Hotel - An excellent stay, good sized room and en-suite bathroom.
The room was spotless and the staff friendly but professional.
The breakfast could not be faulted and there is a large car parking area.
- Philip (10/5): - This hotel is in a great location and is very handy for Chatsworth and the walks around this beautiful area.
I’m told the hotel is under new ownership and there are big plans for refurbishing both the hotel and restaurant.
However our room was spotless and we had everything required for two nights of peace and tranquility.
Friendly efficient staff the hotel will do well to retain.
- Rachel (10/5): The Highwayman- just like a Premier Inn! - Staff couldn’t have been more accommodating - very keen to help and advise . Even saw them helping other customer's with cases into cars. Very pleasant staff providing excellent service . Room was heated with plug in oil filled heater which I thought unusual for a hotel! we switched off as soon as we arrived . The room was excessively hot in the night but there was a plug in fan provided
The central heating wall control wasn’t working so assume this is a temporary heating issue?
The cooked breakfast was excellent - good quality , hot, well presented and delicious
Would definitely recommend and wound stay again
Great location
Recently changed from being a premier inn
