Guest Reviews
- Pamela (2/5): - Our room had spider webs, bugs, a dirty toilet.
- Lin (2/5): - Close to train station and center of the city. The company uses this dorm building as a hotel for only about 2 months in summer. Room/shower not clean. We had a bag disappeared in the room while we were gone during day. All doors were fire doors that shut hard (no chance we forgot to lock the door). Cameras are at the end of hallway (no camera outside of our room door), they said they didn't see anything stolen on camera and asked us to check our luggage, but my daughter and I each had a carry on, a bag and a purse, not a lot of luggage/space that the bag could be hidden in luggage.
- Meghan (4/5): - Rooms were so hot. Fans from the front desk were a weak solution.
- Scott (2/5): - Hot room with no reprieve. People staying around us were incredibly loud but because of thin walls. No sheets on bed. Clear effort to reel in money from tourist while school is out of session. Would never in a million years stay here again. Felt like a one star motel but paid for so much more. Do not stay here
- Ralph (2/5): - This is a horrid hotel. Its decor reminded me of an industrial park. My room had no air conditioning and a huge window that wouldn't open and took direct sunlight. There was a kitchen with things like a cork board and a white boad which were completely useless. I don't know who planned this but it wasn't for the vacation traveller.
- D (2/5): Ripoff - Despite having booked and paid in advance online with Hotels.com, when i arrived at the property i was told it was not paid and my creditcard was charged again by a Ukrainian gentleman at reception. I queried this and said i did not want to pay twice. I
was assured all was in order. On getting home i checked my cc statement and found i had indeed been charged twice.
I messaged the property but got no reply.
- Kaili (6/5): - Very warm inside the building and rooms, little airflow. Quite noisy at night. In a convenient area to the Latin Quarter - within walking distance to many pubs and stores.
- Jeffrey (10/5): - Property appears to be a rental for the summer months. Its a school dormitory but very quiet and safe. Washer and dryer at location for small cost. Room was small but comfy for what we needed. Bathroom was inside the room.
- Elaine (8/5): Great stay - I enjoyed my stay. The staff were helpful and friendly. The area was convenient and safe. The bed was more comfortable than I had expected. Wifi was excellent. Laundry facilities were easy to use.
I knew going in that this was a student dorm turned hotel for the summer. The website FAQ stated it was not air conditioned. I do wish they had provided face cloths and refreshed the room more often, but overall great stay.
- Leah (6/5): - Great location, close enough to everything. Parking discount was good valuable & staff were really friendly.
However, a massive negative was that the room was unbearably hot. Fans were available at reception but made little difference. If they could sort this issue it would be a great place but as it stands, wouldnt stay here again.
- Paul (4/5): - Nowhere in the ad does it say students accommodation. Rooms are not as pictured or described. Rooms not cleaned to a hygienic standard. Bed in first room not fit to sleep on. Second room cleaner and more comfortable than the other one. Very cramped singe person room being offered as a double, bed against wall. , do not recommend staying here.
- Holly (8/5): - The hotel was lovely really enjoyed my stay however it was very hot in the building and the thermostat didn’t lower the temperature in my room, I would still recommend this hotel and it was a very enjoyable stay besides the heat
- Margaret (10/5): Galway Stay - This place exceeded my expectations! The room is quite small (which is to be expected for a budget stay), but there was plenty of storage space. Our room was clean upon arrival and stocked with towels and toiletries. Rooms are cleaned every 3 days, but you can request additional towels and toiletries whenever. I definitely recommend this place!
- Geoff (8/5): Solid and budget friendly - Budget friendly , easy location walking distance from the airport! Chrissy at the check in desk was lovely. Only negative was no A/C and the room was warm. They have fans I just didn’t think I would need one and should have. Wish they had an option for early check in!
- Verified traveler (8/5): Disappointed in Galway - It was safe, clean and the reception staff was nice. Good location and close/within walking distance to many attractions. However, the rooms were unbearably hot. The reception area had air conditioning but the room only had heat. They provided a desk fan but it was so hot in the room we could not sleep. There also was no tv in the room and no restaurant or drink area only a vending machine. If you need a minimal place to stay in the winter with no frills this is good. It is basically a dorm room without air.
- john (4/5): Ehhh - Very basic room. Converted dorm room or something. But if you’re on a budget, it’s clean so you can’t go wrong. But if you want any kind of creature comfort, try somewhere else.
- Crystal (8/5): - Noisy seagulls were a bit of a drag but otherwise it was a decent place to stay! Also, we did ask them to change our bed sheets, but they just made the bed and left the same sheets. Otherwise though, staff was kind to us and we were able to sleep!
- Verified traveler (2/5): Not a hotel - This is a dormitory for a local college, not a hotel. Misrepresented on the advertisement. We arrived and had to leave requested a refund since this wasn't as described in the the description. Requested double beds and each room had a small bed typical for a single person.
- Stephen (8/5): - Quaint and cozy. Good for bare needs. Easy to get to. Solid parking across the street.
- Michael (6/5): - Overall not bad. Close to city center, easy to get to parking, quiet and safe.
Not great help at the front desk, especially after hours when checking in.
Room was fine, but got warm and no ventilation or ability to open window, only a small fan.
- D (4/5): - Aptly named! A little hard to find. Quiet and peaceful except for the seagulls at 8 pm and 4 am!
Right around the corner from the busand train station; a minutes walk! Had all required amenities for convenience! Ample storage in the rooms to tuck luggage out of the way. Excellent in these regards.
No air conditioning. Reception will provide fans on request. Ok with windows open but very difficult to close the blind with some windows when open. Some windows unfortunately do not open much! Odd designs.
Cleanliness less than desirable! We found an empty captain Morgan bottle under one of the beds when we were leaving.
While we were thrilled to know they had laundry facilities on site, we could not use them as we were thoroughly disgusted by the grime and filth in the gaskets of 2 of the 3 machines. We did not bother to check the third.
The bathroom was dimly lit and had no proper ventilation.
- Thomas (4/5): - The staff were rude and unhelpful, the accommodation is very basic, feels like a student halls of residence.
- Julia (10/5): - No food, bed comfortable
- Lisa (6/5): - No TV in the room and no AC. It was very warm inside even though it was chilly outside.
- Harold (8/5): - So close to all the attractions at Galway
- Ian (6/5): - Let people know it’s student accommodation when booking.
- Samantha (10/5): - Perfect for our one night trip to Galway!
- Meredith (8/5): - Room was very clean, location was hard to beat, 5-10 minute walk to anything and everything. We visited during a warm couple of days so the lack of air conditioning was a little tough but bearable.
- David (10/5): A nice surprise - A very comfortable hotel. The beds are quite small, but that’s the only complaint. Extremely reasonable rates. A nice garden courtyard. Friendly staff. Great location.
- Kiyomi (6/5): - The front desk staff at the time of check-in were lovely. They were so kind and welcoming. We would recommend having fans in each room as the temperature was a bit warm.
- Julia (6/5): - The property was okay. A couple of areas could be improved:
- it was very difficult to get a hold of the staff via phone
- i know the rooms are very basic but a couple of hooks or shelves on the wall would have been nice
- Andie (8/5): - Overall a great time. We had a studio so we were able to make some light food but also enjoyed the local restaurants. The staff were very friendly. The room was quite stuffy and hot (summer booking) but they had fans available for us and that improved the air flow nicely. I have mobility issues and the elevator had issues our entire stay and was out of service the day we checked out. Luckily they were accommodating and let us check out later when it was fixed. Really lovely staff!
- Lizabeth (10/5): - Dorm apartments converted to hotel rooms for the summer made it possible for our young adult kids to have some privacy on vacation. Rooms were small but functional. Not fancy but a decent place to stay
- Amy (10/5): - Staff friendly, quick check-in, small room but clean and modern, good shower, lots of storage for luggage, air conditioning, great location for the city or bus and train station for day trips. Ideal as a base for a short trip or onward journey.
- Christopher (6/5): - If you’re ok with a dorm room this place is for you. However, the large open area next to check in was a nice place to go. The price was right, the front desk people very friendly and accommodating. We needed a fan and a hair dryer and they quickly provided them. The biggest problem was that the bed was up against a wall so the inside person had a tough time getting in and out. Storage was plentiful, but no tv, refrigerator, or any way to make coffee. But, like I mentioned above, the common area worked for us. So I gave it a three but overall, it was a good stay and according to most prices in Ireland, well worth the money
- Amanda (10/5): - The staff who work there are very sweet. The bedrooms themselves are very basic but there is laundry on the premises and it’s very walkable. Pay extra for parking but you get a discount. Not luxurious but gets the job done for a fair price.
- pamela (6/5): - We stayed 4 nights. 2nd 2 nights were very expensive. Location is good. It’s 25 Euros for a late check out. Seems excessive. Staff very friendly. No face cloths and no garbage cans seem odd and common area is nice but there is no fridge. North Americans like face cloths and fridges for leftovers while traveling. Had I booked 4 nights at once instead of 2 plus two I would have saved 100 Euros. My mistake but we believed we were going to get charged the same for first 2 nights as the second 2 nights but they got busy so couldn’t offer matched rate
- Douglas (10/5): - Great student housing in a great location.
- Cindy (8/5): - No garbage container in unit annd poor water pressure Otherwise , great location and very clean.
- Rachelle (10/5): - Great location. 3 Minutes to the bus and train terminal.
- Jacky (8/5): - Property was very clean and staff was exceptional. The bed was ok but not great. No waste basket in the room or bathroom which was strange.
- Eric (4/5): - Overpriced for poorly maintained rooms. Avoid
- Christopher (6/5): - The hotel, while at a great location, was lacking in several areas. For one, when we first entered the room, it was clear that room service didn’t do a thorough job as there were crumbs in several locations and there were hairs on the bathroom floor. We don’t understand why room service only came in to fix our bed but not other cleaning the bathroom properly along with dealing with the sink drainage issue. The AC was not working and the room and the hallways leading to it were very hot. We had to request a fan to help cool down the room. Also, the bathroom sink had a drainage issue that was an annoyance the whole time we were there. I would recommend this hotel if you want a location close to the downtown Galway and to the tour pick up spots and able to overlook the cleanliness.
- Ginette (6/5): - Room was quiet as I asked for but need to pass on important information such as using washing machine that was very complicated technically and dealing with problems in room.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Very close to coachstation. No bags in trash can, might be a good idea to provide this. Besides this has a great stay.
- Sean (10/5): - Great stay and location
- pamela (10/5): - Good location!
- William (8/5): - Perfect for resting after a long day of exploring.
- Lauren (8/5): - Adequate value for price given that I booked it at short notice. Only cold water in the shower in the evening (there was hot water in the early morning).
- Bernadette (10/5): - Student center and hotel in summer months. Clean and in the midst of down town Galway, lots to do I the area.
- Elizabeth (10/5): - Excellent location and the rooms were amazing! Will stay again next time, for sure! Loved it!!
- Tomas (10/5): Budget friendly plush backpackers lodge - Stay was good, the room was a bit noisy and although the keycard worked on all doors required to get to my room, it didn’t work on the entry door, but overall it was an enjoyable place to stay and I will stay again.
- Jeremy (10/5): - Clean, efficient and no frills! EZ walk to the center of town.
- Jamie (10/5): - You get what you pay for. Limited amenities (no trash can at all in room or tv). It’s great if your on a budget and just need a place to crash for 2-3 nights
- Emma (8/5): - The staff was very friendly, and the room was clean, with a very nice bathroom. The mattress was a little bit uncomfortable, but nothing unmanageable. It was also very loud, with people slamming doors well into the early morning. Otherwise it was a lovely place to stay, and I would visit again
- Margaret (10/5): - It was perfect-I was thrown off by how it was a little hard to find, but very happy when I did!
- Raymond (6/5): - Good location but bed was very uncomfortable.
