Guest Reviews
- Michael (10/5): Great find - What a lovely place to stay. A convenient location on the A66 (near to Scotch Corner). Beatiful views from the back of the hotel.
Staff were very friendly and helpful from start to finish.
Thoroughly enjoyed our meals in the bar area.
Rooms were nice and comfortable with a very spacious bathroom and great shower.
The only downside was that we were in Room 8 which was above the kitchen which was a bit on the noisey side.
Will definitely use again but would bring ear plugs next time.
- Julie (10/5): - Both the staff and food were outstanding will definitely be going back many thanks to everyone involved x
- linda (10/5): Weekend away - Was allowed yo check in early then we could get on with our day.The room was lovely and very clean. The breakfast hamper was amazing everything in it was fresh and well presented.
- william (8/5): - Clean and tidy inn with excellent food. Only down side was no cooked breakfast, but saying that breakfast in a hamper was different and had enough choice for us. Would stay again.
- Sean (10/5): - An absolute gem beside the A66.The room was so nice with a huge bathroom & comfortable big bed.The decor of the bar & restaurant was very tasteful & had a cosy feel.
The staff couldn’t do enough.
- gareth (10/5): - A great find and a lovely B&B. Nice to have breakfast included and most of all met by warm and friendly staff.
Recommended highly👍
- Charlotte (10/5): - Lovely little Inn. A last minute booking, found the staff very warm and accommodating. Room was large and spacious. Very clean. Lovely bathroom. All the usually amenities. Fab continental breakfast selection brought to the room at a time of our choosing. Cant find any fault.
- Audrey (4/5): - I thought it was a full cooked breakfast, it was just in a box, left outside room, cereals etc. Matress was horrendous, springs poking everywhere
- david (10/5): A SUPER HOTEL! - We really enjoyed our stay at The Fox Hall Inn. Our room was modern, spotlessly clean, comfortable, good value for money, and the free continental breakfast (delivered to our room) was an added bonus!
The staff were welcoming and attentive and it was the perfect stop off for a couple of nights whilst visiting Barnard Castle, about 10 minutes away by car.
I think a car would be needed to reach the property, but I am unsure of the local bus service.
A super hotel which we would use again and would definitely recommend it to family and friends.
Thank you!
- Ann (10/5): - Good overnight stop to break a journey. On A66 but room at back was quiet. Rooms very nice and well appointed. Lovely friendly staff. Would certainly use again.
Breakfast hamper at room very nice.
- Hilary (10/5): - Super staff, spotless and comfortable room… I had a quiet and very restful sleep. I also had a very nice dinner at the restaurant as well. Breakfast was delivered properly and was very tasty – I would stay here again!
- Jake (10/5): - Amazing clean place, will definitely be looking to stay again… highly recommended
- Alice (8/5): - Large room with newly fitted bathroom
- John (10/5): A great stop over - Well presented hotel that is easy to find on main A66. Rooms were clean and comfortable with a really decent rain shower.
Food in restaurant was excellent with a good choice.
Decent choice of drinks available.
Lucy who greeted us was excellent.
Polite friendly and enjoyed a laugh
- Emily (10/5): Brilliant! - Really lovely staff, so friendly and welcoming. Beautiful room and spotlessly clean. Exceptional breakfast hamper. Will definitely stay here again.
- Alan (10/5): - Very clean, staff Very helpful. Lovely comfortable room
- Andy (8/5): - The staff were very pleasant and helpful. Lovely food in the bar/restaurant. The room itself was modern, and good facilities were provided
Our bedroom was on the A66 roadside. Despite the double glazing, we still found it a little noisy. Some further secondary galzing could perhaps help?
- Michael (8/5): Lovely Stay - Lovely clean and big room although no chairs in the room. Shower head needs refitting as it clearly had a leak....this did not stop us using it.
Some road noise which was to be expected on the busy A66. Again didn't impact too much.
Breakfast provided was a Hamper which was lovely but if no cooked breakfast then we felt it should be clearly stated on the notes.
Restaurant food was nice but limited if you are vegetarian.
All in all it is a lovely hotel and we would stay again.
- Portia (10/5): - Lovely room, very light and airy with no noise from the road. Lots of parking options and restaurant is lovely downstairs. They accommodated our request to check in early which was very kind.
- clara (10/5): The most attentive, lovely staff. Lucy is a star! - Every aspect of our stay was considered and then communicated with us. I have allegies and the chef drove to a local shop (after dinner service) to ensure I had choices for breakfast. The whole team were so flexible and understanding
Top notch service.
- William (10/5): A wonderful place to eat and stay - I had an absolutely fabulous stay at The Fox Hall. I stayed for 2 night with 3 other colleagues and we all enjoyed our stay. The food is fantastic. The first night I had fish and chips. The fish was huge and cooked very nicely as were the chips. I tried my best but couldn’t quite finish it.
I highly recommend the overnight oats for breakfast. Breakfast is delivered to you room in a lovely hamper set - see picture. Very nice.
My room was spacious, had a bath and shower and lots of lovely touches like nice tea and coffee and nice soaps etc.
the room was very clean and was refreshed the next morning.
The second evening I had the salmon dish and it was wonderful. Very tasty!
The staff are very friendly and Lucy was always prepared to go the extra mile to ensure customers have a pleasant time. My colleagues and I enjoyed our evening in the bar.
I would definitely recommend The Fox Hall for food and accommodation and I will look to stay there again next time I’m working in the area.
- Tania (10/5): - Room was great, very clean we had a room at the back so no traffic noise. Restaurant food was good also.
- Nikki (10/5): Fantastic stay - Me and my husband really enjoyed our stay. The food for the evening meals was very tasty and plentiful with a lovely atmosphere. The breakfast hamper was lovely. Everything was delicious and I thought it a nice treat to have some breakfast in bed. Even made an overnight oats convert of my husband, who is very much a fry up man and wasn’t sure. The bed was nice and comfy. My only bit of a mini moan (not a complaint more a suggestion) would be a blackout blind in the bedroom. We were in room 4 and there’s a floodlight pointing up at our room and as someone who likes it dark I couldn’t settle until the light was switched of at about 23.30 as it make the room very bright. Didn’t ruin our stay though I had a lovely nights sleep after and would 100% come again.
- James (8/5): - Lovely accommodation and pub for an evening drink, only rating 4/5 as bed was very creaky and noisy in the room we stayed in, otherwise excellent
- Peter (8/5): - Staff were excellent, friendly and Helpful.
We were a little disappointed that the inc.Breakfast wasn't actually a cooked breakfast, it was cereal etc . Our fault for not querying when we booked but it was mainly because the last time we stayed it did include a cooked breakfast. They are currently not doing Cooked breakfast but the Hotel, the Room and the staff were all excellent. The evening meal was also excellent. Thanks for a lovely stay. Hopefully next time we book you are doing cooked breakfast.
- Laura (10/5): - Great stay
- Carly (10/5): - Had a really enjoyable stay with our pup, in one of the dog friendly rooms. Staff are friendly, room really clean with good amenities and the food from the pub was good too!
- Jon (10/5): - Lovely stay at the Fox Hall Inn. Staff were really friendly and helpful, right from check in. The hotel grounds are lovely, with a spacious garden where you can enjoy food and drink with a stunning view of the countryside. Would highly recommend the food, we had homemade steak & Ale pie with chips - absolutely delicious. There is a continental style breakfast hamper provided the next morning based on item choices you pick. All fresh produce and the overnight oats were a delight! Would definitely stay here again if in the area.
- Fran (8/5): - Very recent opening of The Fox Inn so still in teething stage but owners and staff are doing a grand job.
Only diwn side for us was that there was quite a bit of noise from floor above. Could consider sound proofing the floor
But, we had a great stay and will definitely be back
- Linda (8/5): - Good value for money. Food excellent. Well furnished rooms. The noise from the A66 traffic is constant. Therefore the good review.
