Guest Reviews
- Andrew Raj (6/5): 3 Days 2 Night @ Wanna Riverside Melaka - Guest Service staff was helpful in checking in and arranging the Melaka River Cruise.
F&B & Kitchen staff are helpful and friendly. Even though i ordered room service 5 minutes before their closing time, they agreed to cook and send it over to my room without showing sour face.
Most of the time spend hanging around Melaka so i cant comment much about the hotel.
The rooms are just nice to stay if you are not a fussy type whom just need a room to sleep.
The hotel carpets and fitting are seems to be very old.
If you were driving, there are ample of covered parking space and its nearby the place of interest. I will suggest you park your car at the hotel and either walk / use the boat to the place of interest to avoid traffic jam. Limited parking at the city area if you were to use your car.
Request for a riverside view for a better view of the Melaka.
- dena (4/5): Smelly towel - We got smelly towel and not functioning heater. However we satisfied with the view. Nice view at day and night. The aircond need to service not cold at all............
Please improve your room cleanest. Make sure all the things provided is clean especially the towel.

- Verified traveler (4/5): Disappointing. - There's crockroach nymph in the room. Basic amenities like toothbrush shower cap out of stock. Room has no floor cloth, no hand towel.
- Khairuddin (8/5): The wonderful of Wana Riverside Hotel, Malacca.
- It's the 5 minute walking distance to Kampung Hulu Mosque.
And also 10 minute walking distance to" Medan Selera Sungai Melaka"
Check in , smoothly.
also the check out , easily.
Breakfeast , surpurb .
- Verified traveler (2/5): - Very old and run down hotel. Had a very hard time finding the hotel. No proper signage to entrance of hotel.
Stain carpetand the whole hotel doesnt smell nice
- Verified traveler (2/5): do not stay - i do not recommend anyone staying at this hotel. no system at all. took a hr to check in and the receptionist just ignored us when we asked questions. the tap water is yellow colour and do not same as they provided the services.
- Verified traveler (2/5): - we had difficulties locating the hotel. Phone was transferred a few times before anyone can help us find the hotel.Unable to access their free wifi from room. We had to go down to lobby to get Internet wifi access. We had to let the water run for at least 30mins for a little bit of hot water to come on. Waste of water and hot water was not readily available. We had to bathe in cold water in the morning. The only good point is that it is convenient and close to jonker walk. Otherwise I wouldn't stay in this hotel again
- Verified traveler (4/5): room no clean - take almost 1 hour for check in.
not clean
poor wifi
nice location
- Verified traveler (2/5): Horrible service - Wasnt happy with the service and room cleanliness was bad. Wouldnt recomend this hotel to anyone.
- Verified traveler (2/5): - Will not stay at that hotel anymore. It was also very few guests staying. Breakfast was very simple.
- mummyeric (8/5): nice view, easy access - sure will come again really good experience and will promote to others
- Verified traveler (6/5): - not so good-very slow reception desk- Old furniture and fittings.
the only good thing about this hotel, it has its own river cruise jetty where we can hop on the passing boat.
- Verified traveler (4/5): - the sink in the toilet is not working...the staff is not friendly.
- Enthiren (4/5): Disappointed with their service - I waited 2 hours for check in but when it comes to check out they will remind you on time. Its not fair at all.
- Hwa Yee (2/5): stained and terrible hotel - Totally terrible hotel. Staff service was poor. Rooms felt terrible with smell. Towels and bedsheet have stains. Basic cleaniness is needed for this hotel. I booked 5 rooms. All having same issues.
- ashikin (2/5): Old hotel close to river cruise jetty , mall - Got cockroach on the bed, toilet and table. Staff at Front office are not helpful and slow, please improve ur service!!!
- noraiman (6/5): Old but gold - Old hotel but just ok with the price given.
- sad blogger 678 (2/5): Nice location with terrible customer service - Terrible customer service! Although the lovation is fantastic and rooms are clean, the staff needs to step up their game. Terribly unhelpful and everyone doesn't know what's going on in respects to river cruise (where bookings for the cruise and pickup are made available at the hotel).
- Hamzah (8/5): I luv it coz a mosque is just 3 minutes away. - Fairly good for the money paid. Would come back may be.
- Verified traveler (2/5): Terrible - Hello guys,
I really not suggest this hotel.
First, when I checked in, the receptionist too slow. Guest need to que so long time but there are three to four receptionist but still take time. I que around 30 minutes just to take my room key.
When I enter my room, for the first impression I feel not bad. Suddenly when I want to shower, the tiles in toilet was broken n break in 4 piece. I feel like omg..how could the tiles can break.
Aircond also not working good, carpet also not vacuum clean.
Overall, this hotel is not suggested. Bad.
- Mat Deng (6/5): Strategic Location and Nearby with Tourism Places - I've stay for 2 days on 5th Nov 2016. Book for deluxe room but changed executive studio.
Room: Executive Studio
1. Aircond
● Can't adjust the temperature
● Air-Cond fan have noise sound
2. Water Heater/Shower
● To get the warm water so hard, if you get it, very difficult to adjust the suitable temperature. Either you shower in hot water or cool water
● Water flow sometimes ok, sometimes slow. Most of time, the water flow very slow.
● The door lock sometimes ok sometimes not
3. Lighting
● The lighting in front of TV quite dazzled and make you uncomfortable.
4. Safety Box
● Can't be used.
5. Breakfast
● During the peak time, the food are quite slow to top up. The cereal dispenser also malfunctioned.
- Rachael (2/5): Do not stay ! - Terrible room condition especially bed sheet and pillow cover, footprint on it! Request to change but no action taken. Front desk staffs not helpful and act blur. Left the hotel within an hour without staying and pay RM400 for nothing to buy a lesson.
- Abdul Hamid (6/5): Overall...it is ok and just nice place to stay. - Although the price is quite high compare with other lodging at nearby hotel, it is still ok to stay there.
- monk (2/5): Terrible. - Terrible terrible terrible terrible terrible. Location bad. staff bad. Not efficient.
- Azrie (6/5): Good stay - Everything is just all right. The kettle provided was dirty. The air conditioner was not adjustable of its temperature and fan speed. The TV channels was quite limited.
- Verified traveler (2/5): - Aircond not functioning
No hot water
Good clealiness
Good service from receptionist
- Jane (2/5): Nice view at riverside. - The room, bedsheets, pillow case, blanket got bad smell n flea bite.
- Verified traveler (6/5): - booked Superior room. We encounter problem during check-in,they provide different rooms compared to the booking detail.Manage to settle but it take sometimes.the hotel are value for money since they have spacious room and location is nearby to local attraction. however the furniture are quite old also the air-cond. the air-cond is very noisy at night and not so cold. feel slightly hot. not so variety of food offered for breakfast. only one plug point available where there rest used for tv & freezer, difficult to boil the water and for other use.
- Ahmad Muhsin (8/5): The best riverview hotel ever ! - Good location, near to the melaka river cruise and all the city's attractions. Nice size hotel with good ammenities and a river view.
- Verified traveler (2/5): Tv not working - Tv not working, room not cleaned by housekeeping,we already put room cleaning card from outside.. Have more than 2 staff at front desk but Check in take more than 5minutes.
- Dazura (6/5): Not Bad Hotel - Near bay the Jonker Street and Bandar Hilir.Just need walk around to 20 minute.
- Diza (8/5): Strategic location, spacious and comfortable room - Had a pleasant stay here. Comfortable room and very spacious. Very near to Jonker street with free parking. Staffs are very nice and polite
- Verified traveler (6/5): - Overall, the experience is ok. The room rate is very competitive. This hotel is suitable for the budget traveller. However, the cleanliness of the towels, bedsheets, pillows etc have much to be improved. I find that the fresh towels stink for some reason. The facilities in the room is also below my expectation. For example, the fridge makes lots of noise. If you are a light-sleeper who can be affected by such noises, this is not something you would want. The toilet is below standard as well. The water flow makes lots of noise in the pipes. I even found a dead cockroach next to the toilet bowl!
- Joseph (4/5): - 1) Air-Conditioning - No remote control. Air cond went off in the middle of the night for several times.
2) Bath Towel - not properly cleaned.
3) Room very smelly.
- Verified traveler (2/5): dirty - The hotel is old and dirty, should make a renovation. Even the room is big , but is not comfortable. will not visit again
- Verified traveler (6/5): - The staff at Reception were friendly and helpful
- Verified traveler (4/5): - The price was reasonable and surrounding view was nice but i hah some comment on the cleaniness of the bed and pillow .The Pillow got mark and hairs.
- Verified traveler (6/5): - First day check encounter a few problems like the basin sink waste is malfunction, lighting in the room not working as well as the main corridor. The bath towel is yellowish and run down.
- Nurul (8/5): Overall is okay - Enjoy my stay with family. Worth the money spent. Ample parking provided. Hotel located at safe, peace n private area. Enjoy the Melaka riverside vew. There a musical fountain show just next to the hotel at night. Will come again next visit.
- Kent (4/5): Walking Time taken to jonker. - Stated 5min walk to jonker street but was taken 15min walk instead.
- Jimmy (2/5): - It was our weekend getaway to Melaka . The last time we were there was 10 years ago and we saw lots of Changes and progress to Melaka. Unfortunately this Hotel appears old and badly maintained overall. We have been to much newer & cleaner hotels in KL & other states in Malaysia for less than half of what this hotel charged.
- Simeon (4/5): Budget hotel - The hotel have seen its best years already. The room was not very well maintained, bathroom has some mold, stains on the carpet and walls. The breakfast was Asian, no variety. The location is central and this was the best.
- Emy (6/5): - Check in at 8pm, overall is moderate, RM157 for a stay with breakfast consider not bad, just breakfast not much choice. Amber parking, easy access, paid for city view but get room 610 nice river view at night.
- liang (6/5): Hotel is good but service so so - The room is big unfourtunary the air con very bad and warm,
Check in time fix 3pm end up many people Q up waste a lot of time
- mansor (6/5): - 1 night only
- Joe and Liddy (8/5): Decent hotel. Good for what you pay. - Quite area, nice view. Shopping mall 5 minutes behind the hotel. River ride just around the corner. Taxi no meters. 15 ringit. Get # 17 bus for 2 ringits, you get a tour of the town and get you to the main attractions, also to the main shopping malls.
- josephine (6/5): Worth for money. - Comfortable nightstay..
Juz do more on the airconditioning.
A bit warm .
- Verified traveler (8/5): Nice Hotel - stayed 3d2n and booked 2 room at this hotel.. arrived at 2pm but has to wait because check-in time at 3pm due to hotel term. check-in process take a long time and got my room key at 4pm. Hotel located centrally in town and near to interesting places. friendly staff and cleanliness of room is good. overall this hotel is nice except check-in time, and will choose again this hotel if went again to melaka
- Verified traveler (8/5): Nice hotel, easy access to go town - Hotel is very near with town and very clean hotel, have some noisy at air cond but its ok,very comfortable room and very clean, stuff very kind and good
- Verified traveler (6/5): - Towels were smelly and air-cond was noisy. Rooms need to be refurbished. Location wise good.
- Un (2/5): - its take us 1.5 hours to check in, que up for more then one hour.
- KHOO (10/5): Fabulous Hotel. - Very nice & most affordable hotel in the heritage city of Malacca.
- Verified traveler (6/5): One night stay at Malacca - Overall, the hotel was clean but acoustic was poor as next door water tap running was heard.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Pleasant Stay - It was a pleasant stay and the reception staff were very helpful & friendly.
The hotel was near the River cruise jetty & we got a special price for that, which was very nice cruise trip. Walking distance to many food shops around.
However, our room air-condition was too cold & we could not adjust the temperature since it is spoiled.Overall, i would recommend this hotel to all.
- Christina (6/5): Strategic location near the tourist site - The hotel does provide car park but the basement where we park the car is very smelly. The front desk staff is friendly. The room are quite spacious but the amenities are lacking. When we enter the room, towels are not placed in their proper place. The desk is dirty as well. The television emits a a screeching sound when turned on. There are no astro as advertised.
- Verified traveler (6/5): at the centre of mallaca city - My overall stay was okay but not reaching my expectation. i am glad that the parking is not full as the parking is an open parking although it is situated at the basement of the building. but sadly, the parking is not connected directly to the lobby (we need to get out from the parking lot and go around the building to get to the lobby).
The staffs were very nice and polite.
the room is very clean but nothing much to expect. They claimed that they provided bath robes, but it was nowhere to be found. The bathroom was cleaned however they only provide us with bath gel, soap and shampoo.
breakfast buffet was good. They have freshly made omelette. it was delicious. other food were basically, cereal, toast, noodle soup, congee and condiments, nasi lemak, fried noodles, fruits and salads.
Overall, the stay was worth the price.
- kah yan (2/5): - Dirty & louse.....even the location is bewr to Jorker walk... next time is will not consider to stay in this hotel.. air-cond at midnight stop.. need keep to wake up and press on
- Wei (4/5): Only good thing is the location - Overall, I am not very happy with their services.
First, the counter check-in was slow and not up to expectation. We arrived at 5pm and only managed to have all our 5 rooms ready around 6pm. They gave me the reason was because their housekeeping staff not enough.
Secondly, the room door is still metal key lock with only one key for a twin room. My room telephone was not functioning and the technician fixed once but failed again till my check out day. I did not bother to call them again to fix as the calling and waiting time was too long. I had no time to wait for them in the room. I was there for holiday trip not spending time in the hotel. So I decided to let it be...
The room is quite spacious and overlooking at the Malacca river. But the construction site was just beside the hotel which affected the view. The breakfast not many variety, but still ok. The only good thing is the location of the hotel. It is close to the Shore shopping center. Cross the river, roughly 10 to 15 mins walking to the shopping center.
- CHAN (6/5): The WIFI WAS BAD ! Room need to be improved ! - Hotel beside the river ,it only can be graded as 2 star hotel .
- David (4/5): Very old hotel. - Carpets in room and hallway very old with stains all over. Only one door key given for the room which also operate the air conditioning for the room. There is addional charge for the additional prom key that you need to keep the air conditioning rum when you leave the room.the room is like an oven with a furnace when you return to the room esp. With the extremely hot weather all year round.
- Sia (6/5): Convenient for one night stay - Take a long time to check in, car park space not really enough. Overall is quite good.
- Verified traveler (6/5): Great location, others need to improve. - Great location. Room design a bit old, but spacey.
- Amy (8/5): Perfectly Fine For a Night or Two - My husband and I came down on a weekend getaway from KL. The hotel is nothing luxurious but perfectly suitable for a night or two. Location is great, right on the river, easy walking distance into town or the tourist areas. Free on site parking too!
- Lee (8/5): Worth the money - Very pleasant, room was very clean and neat. Outside the hotel there is a musical fountain and also can take a walk along the river bank. This hotel is worth the money.
- Verified traveler (6/5): Poor aircon and Cleanliness - Nice location and friendly staffs, however, aircon not strong enough, lot of stains on the white bedding.
- Verified traveler (2/5): need to up grade - good
- Verified traveler (8/5): good.. - good.............
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Everything is fabalous!
- Verified traveler (6/5): Clean Hotel - Value For Money stay.
- W RAIHANA (2/5): Dirty, disgusting room. - We arrived very late at night and the lone man manning the reception counter was half asleep and not very friendly. The hotel is very run down with stains on the hallway carpets. The room had a very musty odour, stains on the carpets as well. There was several pieces of rubbish (old receipts and business cards) left over from the previous occupants stay under the desk and in the wardrobe. The waste basket in the bathroom had not been cleared and contained toilet paper from the previous occupants. The bedsheets and towels had marks of old stains on them.
I can understand that old hotels are going to be a little run down, and I can accept that especially with the price I paid. However, the rubbish and cleanliness levels were certainly inexcusable. Will not stay there again.
- KHIRUL SALLEH (6/5): Please Improve Services - My booking that I print mentioned include free breakfast but the hotel representative denied it.
Although, I've been stayed here several times, but the hotel got no customer retention programme.
- Mohd halim (6/5): good - I dont have breakfast as your promises
- abd rahman (8/5): good - Good....
- Verified traveler (4/5): The hotel need more competent staff - Overall it was okay. But the hotel staff need to be more competent and understanding with tourists who have just come to the city for the first time.
When we checked in our room the flush was not working. I called and asked them to come and fix it and I was told "Be patient!" It took them more than 20 minutes to come and fix the flush and we had to wait!
The sheets on the bed were not entirely clean.
The housekeeping next day did not replace stirrers in the coffee and tea tray, and no extra bathroom tissue. So we had to ask for these and it took them half an hour to bring us these stuff!
- Victor (8/5): Good hotel - Good hotel.
- alhabshee (6/5): Find other alternative hotel - Very old hotel..you can find other better hotel in Malacca. Just skip this one.
- MENG KWANG (6/5): Wana Riverview Hotel Review - I'm not happy with the incoming water. Water look like from river Malacca, brown color. Cannot take bath. Totally cannot accept. But the worker service is good and view is nice.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Nice hotel with wonderful breakfast - It was wonderful, the only downside is that there isn't a safety box in each room and the faucet were sometimes "singing".
- Lise (8/5): Excellent place to stay. In Malacca - Hotel well located
Desk front peoples very helpfull and very kind,,
Quality,,,,,,price is a excellent relation
- Eyda Majelan (10/5): nice view from my room. - my hubby and i choose to stay here when we look at the location. it's near to the river. we stay for two nights. we go for morning walk, and enjoy the river cruise so much. all the attractions of the city just around the hotel. and the best part is their helpful staff. the smiles and talk nicely to guests. hope to be there again for next visit. thank you to all of you in Wana Riverside Hotel.
- Sam (4/5): - Facilities: Horrible; Value: The facilities ; Service: Below average; Cleanliness: Filthy, Smelly, Grubby;
- Ameya (8/5): Decent hotel with nice romantic ambience - The hotel is nice within decent budget. I particularly liked the river at the back of the hotel and the water fountain added to the romantic experience.
- Verified traveler (4/5): front part have changes... - the hotel it's OK,but on the day check in,part registration filed, very complicated for me...receptionist not good & not smile, not all, some only..
- Verified traveler (8/5): Good location - The location of this property is quite central and close to most eating out place. Good for a weekend getaway.
- muhammad roslie (8/5): A - Our stay was wonderful and great.we enjoy our stay but, a bit far to melacca town about 15-20 minutes walk from the hotel. Hotel need to consider to have a shuttle service from hotel to melacca town. Overall, we happy and enjoy. :-)
- Ahmad Badri (6/5): Riverside location is great - Today at 12:24 PM
Wana Riverside Melaka needs to improve on a couple of things:
1. Change Carpet in the hallway. It is about time.
2.Improve Plumbing, especially drainage from bathtub
3. Improve Plumbing : to have water filtered before release for use
4. Room seems empty, need to put some drawings or paintings
5. Paintworks
6. Writing desk
7. Face towels
For a three star hotel, it should be less than RM150. The best thing about it is the location by the river, with access to walk along the Melaka river, and the music color fountain, and of late itis within wlaking distance to the Shore and the Tang shopping complex. Overall Service is B+. But have some one to man the Reception at all time, and have a telephone receptionist to answer calls at all times. Kari kepala ikan is good, and so is the breakfast.
I will come again if it is cheaper than the RM200 per night I paid for it in Dec 14.
- Sir Musaini (8/5): Location wise is okay. - Have a pleasant stay here. Location wise is okay for those who wanna walk to town. About 22 minutes walk to Mahkota Parade. Not advice to drive once your car is park. Room service meal are excellent. Really good food to compare out there. Overall I, family and relatives had a great stay there for what we pay!!
- Verified traveler (6/5): Comfortable hotel close to the main attractions - Very convinient, short walking distance away from the main attractions along the riverbank. If walking is too much effort, you can take the water ride and learn some history along the way.
- wong (6/5): Rooms without Towels & others... - Overall OK ,except room without towel, request from reception but no one send up. Anyway only staying 1 night so used own towel
- Verified traveler (2/5): Awful - awful
- Verified traveler (8/5): Good location & service - Hotel is a little old and in need of renovation but overall, good location and excellent service from the check-in staff who despite the crowd, continued to do so with a smile. Thumbs up!
- vince (8/5): Melaka River night cruise - Cruise boat stop conveniently located within the hotel premises. The night cruise was excellent. The footpaths on both side of the river were immaculately clean. Restaurants and bars along the river and the overall ambience of this experience was fantastic.
- Verified traveler (8/5): hotel close to tourist attraction - hotel is quite good and worth for money plus i think the breakfast buffet is more than enough and you can go for melaka river cruise without walking for a distance.
- Cherie (2/5): Terrible Hotel - My first time in Malacca. Never stay at Wana Hotel anymore. Dirty room. Old building. Old furniture. No toilet paper. Quite far to Jonker Street. Riverside is dark at night. Unfriendly staff. Water tank is dirty. Overall is terrible.
- Verified traveler (2/5): Find somewhere else to stay - The first hotel I can say that I have wanted to give such a bad rating.
Inefficient check in, 45 minutes to check in 3 people. Then they couldn't give me my key as it was with housekeeping, so I waited and they forgot to bring it to me. So I waited another 40 minutes before I went and asked again....it had been sitting there for some time.
The hallways were dirty and the carpet looked as if it had never been cleaned, the room was old and one of our rooms was dirty and the walls in desperate need of repainting. People were actually bringing their keys down to reception to ask for a change as the room was very dirty. My bed was missing the feet at the head of the bed and therefore rocked.
We had to ask for more toilet paper and had to request 3 times for clean towels when they removed ours for cleaning.
Advertised as free internet, the lobby internet was too slow to access any applications and the internet in the rooms did not work.
The staff were pleasant but inefficient.
Located 15 mins from Jonker street but otherwise this hotel has nothing going for it.
I would not recommend this hotel at all
- Clark (2/5): Never again - Very dirty rooms. Towel stinks. Heater doesn't work and water from faucet is yellow.
- D Sum (6/5): Nearby Jonker Street - Just an average hotel. Plus point walking distance to jonker street and good food.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Overall I am satisfied, however there are room for improvement, such as: 1. The room, the air con is not cold enough, paper only available at lounge not in every room, a few more tv channel-cnn/abc/bloombergwill be great. With regard to internet, it is satisfying as the hotel make it a free wi fi just like McD/ Kopitiam. 2. The food, ulam is great but the fish ,should be at least tenggiri for hotel food not kembong.
- C.Koh (4/5): Noisy at Night - Hotel is quite weary in deco, with strong odour starting at the lobby. Room is ok and spacious. But our bedsheet was not clean when we discovered it, with black, weird patches. However, we're too tired at 11pm to call housekeeping to change, so we just reversed it ourselves. We're lucky that it's only 1 night stay because the cars & motorbikes were louder at night, and so clear that you may need ear plugs if you're a light sleeper.
- kennath (4/5): Nothing special - its a average hotel nothing special near this place there good small hotels available less than the half price.(staff must trained to speak and understand ) overall i rate it average can easily find better than this hotel.
