Guest Reviews
- Siya (10/5): Beautiful location 🤞🏾hospitality was amazing and the staff was the best 👊🏾 - The location was top 👌🏾
Hospitality was on another level
The food was amazing from the Chefs Actually 2 nights was not enough 😄
- Kathleen (9/5): - 5 course dinner was exceptional! Limited bar stock
- Nomthandazo (10/5): - The hospitality
The staff
Awesome experience Nothing
- Volker (10/5): Topp Location in schöner Lage - Sehr schöne Unterkunft mit gemütlichen Zimmern, leckerem Frühstück und sehr freundlichem und hilfsbereitem Personal.
- Theo (9/5): Superb -
- Lariaan (9/5): What I absolutely loved was the staff, the eye for detail and the absolute pampering and care we received. Even though t - Emerged in Nature, simple yet luxurious. The bathroom was quite slippery. And I didn’t love the room location.
- Marthinus (5/5): Sia was a great help and Cindy an awesome cook. Not worth the trek or the effort for the price, even at the discounted p - It’s a beautiful farm with horses, zebras and buck roaming around freely It’s needs tlc. Paint, the shower and floors needs a good clean and some love. Everywhere plumping is visible and the garden needs to be updated. It felt run down. The whole time the owners were around and did not once make an attempt to greet or check in with us.
- Vanessa (10/5): Exceptional - Everything was lovely
- Rina (10/5): Little piece of paradise in Nature - Firstly, I would like to make a comment regarding the condition of the road to the Lodge. Welcome to South Africa – get over it and move on. Don’t let a bad road spoil and amazing, five star experience.
We were fortunate to stay at Qambathi for 3 nights for my 60th birthday. What an amazing experience. All our expectations were met, above and beyond. It is so difficult to single out what was special, because the whole time was special.
The rooms, the view, the hospitality, everything was just fantastic. And then you get to eat Chef Sindi’s food…… that is an ENTIRE experience on it’s own. Chef Sindi, if I had the power or opportunity to dish out Michelin Stars, you would definitely get TWO of them. Your food is amazing, the special attention to detail, how you present your dishes. All just gob-smacking beautiful and delightful. I have not eaten anywhere like this before.
Siya and your staff, you made my stay so special. You are an excellent host. Keep doing what you are doing and you will reach the stars!
To Nadia & Stephen, well done. You have the most beautiful place, a true gem. What you have done and how you are doing it, just resonates with us.
We will definitely be back soon. Zero!!!
- Nonjabulo (10/5): Fantastic lodge, great stuff - Everything, the views are amazing. Roads to get there , but nothing to do with the lodge I guess.
- David (9/5): Superb -
- Mabaleng (5/5): Just okay, not bad not great.... - I liked the vibe but there's not much to do in the actual property itself. My partner and thought we would have a hike and some activities but it was just okay for us..... not bad if you just want to sleep and eat I guess.... The pool was tiny and there's not much to do in the actual property in my opinion. but then again it depends on ones age and interests....
- Ravirn (7/5): 7out off 10 - Location is great, very relaxing and peaceful. The staff, especially Mandoza and the new guy that met us at reception, goes beyond their duties to make visitors comfortable There needs to be additional 2 sign boards for directions from the main road.
- Kirsten (10/5): Loved our stay - Such a beautiful location and view from our room. The food was also incredible. The attention to detail was amazing.
We booked a massage and it was the best massage I have ever had
- Jane (10/5): This is a great stay if you’re looking for something off the beaten path and want to unwind! - The property is close to the Drakensberg Mtns and National parks and reserves. It is comfortable and the staff is personable and outstanding.
- Ricarda (9/5): Superb - Extremely nice place. Great staff. Lovely rooms. Although it was cold the room heater and heating blankets kept us comfortable. Although the drive is quite long to get to the lodge it is definitely worth it for a couple of quiet days in nature!
- Adrian (10/5): Beautiful lodge with comfortable rooms, excellent food and wonderful staff! 10/10 - Beautiful lodge and everybody there made us feel so special. Mendoza looked after our every need and Stephen came to our assistance when the car didn’t start one morning!
The 5 course meals each evening were superb! We will definitely be back!
- Ntokozo (7/5): It was good - The food was exceptional The roads to get to the lodge.
- Sifiso (10/5): Relaxed - It’s secluded and tranquil They don’t have room service
- Rori (9/5): Most beautiful and comfortable stay. - It looks stunning!
Has a peaceful aura.
The staff were friendly and helpful. It’s a challenge getting to the property with a small car on any given day because of the world class potholes you’ll come across! it’s even worse when it rains. This of course is not necessarily the property’s fault.
- Sibongile (10/5): Exceptional -
- Eddy (10/5): Exceptional -
- Katrina (10/5): Peaceful place to unwind and refresh - The rooms are spacious, well appointed and very comfortable. Woke up to horses and zebra’s grazing on the grass in front of the room which was magical. There were multiple indoor and outdoor areas to sit and read, chat or just take in the beautiful surroundings. The food is impeccable with the kitchen staff aware of coeliac requirements and went out of their way to have gluten free alternatives available. The staff were all very friendly and available if you needed them, but also not intrusive. Was a solo traveller and would go again when in the area. Nothing - staff went out of their way to make the stay perfect
- Nthubi (10/5): Exceptional -
- Nthabiseng (10/5): 😍😍😍 - The hotel exceeded our expectations in every way, the stuff was friendly, the room was comfortable and the location was perfect. Highly recommended !!!!💃🏾
- Cameron (7/5): Great stay! Friendly and helpful staff. - The pillows are too soft and small
- Ian (8/5): Pleasant lodge in the foothills of the Drakensberg - The room was well decorated and clean. The shower was a particularly good as the pressure and water volume was excellent. The attention detail was good. The road leading from Rosetta to the lodge is just plain awful - if you don't have a 4x4. Granted this is out of the lodges control, but it is basically a road under construction that you have to drive on, and it is bad. So be prepared. The lodge could do with a little maintenance. The deck around the pool area had a hole in it and the external wooden doors in the room were starting to show signs of rot at the base of the doors.
- Shaun (10/5): Exceptional - Very beautiful scenery tranquil and peaceful extremely friendly and helpful staff Nothing it was perfect
- Denise (7/5): Good - The Chef went out of her way & the food she prepared excellent. Highly recommended the Horse riding, amazing experience with the most beautiful views.
- Graeme (10/5): Exceptional -
- Oladeyemi (8/5): It was a beautiful place and I would go there again to hide out and relax. - Breakfast was great, the staff was excellent - every single one of them was welcoming, polite, helpful, and generally made one feel special. The property has a good view of nature with surrounding hills. Free roaming horses, zebra and antelope made the setting absolutely relaxed. It is a small property boasting only five rooms, so you end up getting to know most if not all, of your fellow travelers - can be interesting or uncomfortable depending on one's personality. Was sort of mixed for me. No TV and no fridge in the rooms was unusual but made the stay very quiet and I loved that!, The pool was tiny, not clear from the photos; the location requires a 4x4 to get there safely, but you get that information only after making the non-refundable payment; it was great that all meals are offered, but because of the limited rooms and thus few guests, choice is limited and you don't know what you're gonna eat until they put it in front of you.
- Kati (8/5): Highly recommend for relaxation and hikes - One on one boutique lodge with wonderful staff and good food
- Phumudzo (10/5): Exceptional -
- Nicholas (10/5): Exceptional - The staff were incredible. The room was amazing. The food was delicious
- Desire (9/5): Nature lovers retreat - The Lodge is set in a tranquil and very scenic area. A real get away if you are looking for one. The rooms are comfortable, the food is excellent. Fine dining in a remote location. Mandoza, the hospitality host is excellent and very accommodating to all your needs. The horses and zebras are a charming addition to the setting. The roads are shocking. Only fit for 4x4 vehicles preferably. As a result, guests are not keen to explore in the area any further.
- Amanda (10/5): Beautiful peaceful stay - The property is beautiful, the food is absolutely amazing. Staff is friendly and very helpful. Good communication from the owners. Nothing.
- Dylan (10/5): Amazing time at Qambathi - Super friendly Staff with great service. We'll maintained rooms and gardens. Very tranquil and peacuful for romantic getaways in nature.
- Kim (10/5): Exceptional stay in a private haven - Everything. Every detail was thought of. The staff were so friendly and went above and beyond to make my stay comfortable and the whole property is beautiful. The road to the property which is out of their control.
- Jonathan (8/5): Very good -
- Anazi (9/5): Definitely a place I would go to again. Everything was amazing. - Everything about the property was amazing.
They have great staff members and their service is excellent. It’s really a beautiful, serene place away from the city noise N/A
- Wj (8/5): Lovely Quiet and tranquil. Very friendly staff and good food. - Quiet and tranquil.
Very friendly staff and good food.
- Thashan (10/5): Exceptional -
- Nicole (9/5): Superb -
- Carin (10/5): Beautiful serene spot - Great staff, beautiful room - we stayed in the stable suite. Lunch was delicious as was dinner. Very serene and laid back atmosphere Would have liked to be able to get cappuccinos for breakfast but there is a machine so u can make one in your room.
- Malusi (8/5): Very good -
- Regopotswe (10/5): The staff was fantastic and the food was great. Mendoza is a star! - Everything, it was absolutely gorgeous. Pillows. You need better quality pillows.
- Ligia (9/5): Superb -
- Mumdoo (10/5): Exceptional -
- Thabo (9/5): Thank you. Amazing - . .
- Nicholas (8/5): Very good -
- Fred (6/5): Pleasant -
- Thembi (10/5): Blissful and exclusive stay at Qambathi Mountain Lodge - Everything - it's the best service I've ever experienced. Mandoza was a great host, attended to our every need, very warm and engaging, met us outside the door each time we came back from our exploration trips, took interest in our daily plans and offered relevant local advice, managed our luggage, the best host I've ever come across. He's exceptional! Nothing - everything was a wow, wow, wow!
- Samantha (7/5): Lacks ambience - The Breakfast was good. Luckily Mandoza, the Manager was very hospitable. Secluded, not much of an atmosphere. Needs TLC
- Fran (8/5): Very good -
- Katlego (10/5): Exceptional -
- Lesego (9/5): Superb - The staff was fantastic. Mandoza and the kitchen staff were friendly, attentive and very welcoming. The food was fantastic beautiful stay in general
- Shannon (10/5): Our weekend was extremely amazing 👌😍 - The staff was amazing and the venue was absolutely superb. The rooms were so clean, the food was delicious, the staff were super helpful and friendly.
- Walter (10/5): Hidden Gem - This family-run boutique hotel is a hidden gem, tucked away in tranquil Kamberg valley, with free-grazing horses and zebras and a small water stream - makes for immediate relaxation! Breathtaking hiking trails can be found in proximity. Breakfast buffet and menu are delicious and the five-course dinner menu with wine pairing were without a doubt the best cuisine we’ve had in the Drakensberg region! Last but not least: Qambathi’s team is lovely and professional, yet just informal enough to make you feel right at home. We were impressed by front of the house, assistant manager and all rounder Mendoza, who was of great support - assisting us with hiking tipps and hosting a private wine tasting for us. Will certainly be back!
- Nirvana (10/5): Exceptional -
- Faatik (8/5): A beautiful getaway. - Loved the location. Quiet and serene. Perfect getaway from the busy life of the city. Short walking trails. Love the horses. Even tho the weather wasn't in our favor, we still enjoyed our time there. All staff members including the chef were absolutely kind, welcoming and helpful. The room and bathroom were clean. Loved the different soap options 😄
The route to the lodge was very muddy from the storm so I was scared to drive out as I didn't have a 4x4. The Michael was so so kind to drive out with me to ensure we were safe. Thank you again. There were some bugs in the room. Was a little annoying at night.
I think this lodge could do with a spa 😄
- Rick (10/5): Exceptional - Amazing to relax after hiking in the drakensberg. It was above our expectations. Our best stay in South Africa by far! The road to the property is not great, but thats SA for you and understandable if you want such an amazing scenery.
- Kirstin (10/5): Lovely peaceful place for a getaway in the mountains with great hospitality, facilities and views. - Ticked all the boxes for a quiet, tranquil place to stay in the country side. friendly staff, good food, lovely hospitality, amazing views and facilities. we wish we could have stayed longer. Nothing at all. It is just lovely.
- Banji (10/5): Exceptional -
- Guy (10/5): Exceptional -
- Raymond (8/5): Excellent hosts. - Great selection at breakfast. Excellent gourmet meal - but was it really worth R500 pp? Very disappointed in the room. I paid a lower price but did not realise that the room would be so much less impressive than the best ones.
- Andri (9/5): Superb -
- Aviwe (9/5): Superb -
- Rochael (10/5): relaxation and comfort at its best! - 1. The owners and staff are extremely pleasant and take keen interest in making your stay extra special.
2. Beautiful rooms with comfortable beds and a stunning bathroom.
3. The coffee machine in the room is a plus
4. Beautiful well manicured gardens and horses right outside your room
5. I loved the hanging egg chairs in the veranda which you can sit in for hours and just listen to sounds of nature
6. Excellent chef and a lovely 5 course dinner. Breakfast was also very scrumptious.
7. You will fall in love with resident dog Milo who really makes this place even more special.
8. A very warm homely place to just relax and break away from the busy city life Nothing. However I suggest that having a spa be something that could be considered in the future. it would be ideal.
- Vaughan (9/5): Superb - Mandoza was an excellent host and it was a special trip .
- Thabisile (10/5): Had such an amazing and relaxed time. I'd booked again - Had variety of things to offer for breakfast which was great , the main meal as wll was great, The stuff members were super friendly and the place was amazing.
