• Harry (3/5): Wouldn't book again and if you do book, avoid room 37 - The location was perfect for where we needed to travel to the next day. The TV provided was better then you find in alot of hotels. The outside look of the hotel was never nice aswell. We had a bath in our room that didnt have a plug so we couldn't use it, we then found out this was because the bath tap didn't work at all. We then tried to use the shower and all of the pipes leading up to the shower head were leaking everywhere so apart from the sink and toilet, the bathroom was completley unusable. No soap was provided with the sink either. The Duvet cover to the bed was ripped down oneside which you don't expect to see. The Bed itself was extremley creaky so it kept us up all night whenever we turned over. When we tried to turn the bedside lamp on in the evening, the bulb blew so the lamp didn't work. Upon asking to change room because of all the issues, we were told no because the hotel was completley full even though the carparkl outside had alot of space. When I requested money back for the inconvenience, the staff member had no idea and said he would have to call someone to find out which resulted in nothing. I was surprised there wasn't an appropriate staff member working to deal with such an issue.

• Allison (8/5): Great stay, would book again - The property was spotless and well looked after. Check-in was smooth and the location was perfect for a quiet night away. The room was warm, comfortable and had everything we needed. Parking was easy and the area felt safe. Great value for money overall. Also the staff 10/10 very friendly If I’m being picky, the room layout felt a little bit awkward, but nothing major and it didn’t affect the stay.

• Tom (5/5): It’s functional and serves my needs and usually reasonably priced. - It has everything I need to freshen up, bath, shower , comfy bed, as well as tv, wifi . The staff are friendly and helpful, they provide plates and cutlery for my take aways and a glass for an occasional bottle of beer from the supermarket and even provide a bottle opener. I first used this hotel over a year ago and it had a functioning kitchen and bar but both of these are rarely on offer anymore so it’s take aways from the nearest village of Balsall Common, a 10 minute drive away for takeout meals. The hotel is in need of a refurb hopefully sometime soon but at the moment it’s fine for me as it’s comfortable and usually reasonably priced.

The room was a lovely size plus the shower was more like a wet room but it was still very good. The hotel doesn’t have a lift. I have MS and the stairs are not great. It was also very inconvenient that the bar and restaurant weren’t open.

• Bigwilks (8/5): - Great location for the NEC or Birmingham Airport, with a large car park. The hotel is a little run down and showing signs of wear but for the price I got the 2 nights for i have stayed on worse premier inns and travelodges for twice the price.

Stains Cobwebs Door was held together with nails (you could tell it had damp/bowing and they just screwed it back on) Hole in wall (plaster dust everywhere) Dusty (even on headboard) When address reception about issues and simply asked if our room could be cleaned he was quite rude about the matter and didnt seem bothered (almost like i was an inconvenience to him) but eventually the older manager i believe who was very polite(always is) cleaned our room personally and apologised sincerely and said he would personally clean our room.
• Ian (1/5): By far the worst place I have ever stayed. - Do not under any circumstances stay at this hotel; it is the dirtiest hotel I have ever stayed at. Dirt. Blood on the door. The chewed batteries in the TV remote (Dog!) Hairs on the floor everywhere. The dirty old sock over the smoke detector. Lots of big black fly's in the corridors. The overwhelming smell of curry throughout the hotel. The very dated and poor quality decor and furnishings. Some reviews say the hotel is good, these must be uncles and aunts' reports because there is no way a normal human would say its good to stay there. The hotel agreed it was disgustingly dirty (not sure they even recognise dirt and filth) and said that they would refund me in full, they have since only refunded 50%.
• Wingfield (8/5): Exceptional value for money. Very clean and quiet with friendly staff. - The Hotel was exceptional value. The room was spacious, comfortable and very clean. The staff were professional, friendly and polite. The location for our event at the NEC was superb. Overall it was a very good experience and if in the area again would definitely use this hotel again. My only comment would be that it would be helpful to have water glasses and an information folder in the room to advise how things like the restaurant worked and a menu. Also things to do in the area.

Bed lights didn't work. Bed was rock solid. Mold / moldy sealant around shower. Grime on shower and tap head (could be wiped off but should have been cleaned). Tap wouldn't stop dripping all night. Neighbours were very loud (walls are thin could hear them cough). Flys in room (didn't sleep well as they kept buzzing round and couldn't get them out). Aircon didn't work. Fridge wasn't very cold and leaked water on carpet. Room was really dusty (kept coughing).

• Gayle (8/5): It was perfect for my needs and the price was great - The staff were welcoming and respectful- carrying my bag to the room for me. Parking was convenient, just outside the main reception and not charged extra. The room was spacious and clean with white bedding, which was crisp and beautifully laundered.

Keycard stopped working (when told them which room number we were they then said our room was booked to someone we had never heard of which obviously panicked us as all our belongings were still in the room). (Not very organised). No space for clothes. Was rude when asked for cutlery.

The place could do with a fresh lock of paint and the carpet in the room was wearing thin near the door. Nothing bad but getting towards needing doing. Unfortunately had guests next door with two rowdy kids that created a lot of noise but that's not the fault of the hotel, just bad luck.
