Guest Reviews
- Frances (9/5): - Excellent customer service
- ian (10/5): A very welcome stopover on our roadtrip, great food, drinks, hosts, comfy bed, lovely - Quiet village pub with excellent indian restaurant - Lovely welcome from the hosts, bar was cosy, good drinks selection, indian food was excellent, as was the service. Bed was very comfortable, we enjoyed our stay. Abdul warmed my nightcap cognac and it was served with style and panache ! Thanks. nothing to dislike
- Warnes (8/5): Overall very good except steep stairs as I have mobility issues - Very Good Breafast Bedroom was difficult to access with steep stairs
- Ron (7/5): A pleasant experience. - The staff are very attentive and friendly. The food is exceptionally good value for money, as was the cost of the accommodation. The accommodation is in a village that has no other pubs or shops. There were only one other person eating in the restaurant that night, so it lack atmosphere.
- melaney (10/5): Fantastic - Lovely quiet clean and comfortable Parking was ok not the greatest
- Shelley (8/5): Enjoyable stay, staff were very friendly and went out of their way to be accommodating - In a quiet and quaint village Room decor a little tired and bathroom although more than adequate could do with an update.
- Craig (1/5): He refused to change us to another room! - Nothing The rooms we had were up two flights of stairs .We are 70 and 80years old …by there was no indication of this danger (rooms no.1 and 3) The owner !
The first night the lights went out which also had the toilet in No. 1 on the same circuit. (An electric toilet similar to a Camper Van toilet)So that packed up and the water was backed up into the bath , a pungent yellow colour water .
The owner blamed us !
The owner is out of his depth and angry as having no people skills is hurting his business.
When we asked for a refund he punched my sister who is 82years old
Police were contacted for assault.
- Steve (9/5): -
- Philip (9/5): A very friendly welcome, wonderful service and even the kind offer of a lift into Olney for our evening out, although we - Lovely peaceful location, very clean and a wonderful welcome by the most friendly host. Nothing too much trouble! Nothing
- James (10/5): Great location and very good value for money excellent staff - The food was good and breakfast was included
- Matthew (10/5): -
- Ian (8/5): Nice place - Very clean Bedroom door did not lock properly
- Allison (7/5): - Lovely location very peaceful Breakfast needs some work
- Richard (6/5): -
- Matt R (9/5): Quiet Relaxing and Friendly - Room was comfortable, all the usual features you would expect. Village location so fairly quiet. Host was friendly and accommodating, nothing was too much trouble. Street Parking was not ideal as the details online suggested a Car Park. Village is very quiet with little through traffic so not a huge problem.
- BeltonE (2/5): - Not a lot The facilities were not great, and not clean we found packets of sweets in the drawers and the shower taped with dark take, breakfast over priced and not great.
- Linda (8/5): Good B&B - Good accommodation although decor in need of a little attention.
- David (10/5): - Good evening meal in the restaurant, good breakfast, and the room was more like a suite.
- Vidya (10/5): - Clean and comfortable room and environment.
- Moire (8/5): Our stay was comfortable. - The staff were so accommodating and friendly, Raoul even drove my husband to Milton Keynes and did not charge for the journey, that was above and beyond.
- Ellie (7/5): -
Mauvais point !
- Stuart (7/5): Room for improvement - Nice place in a nice location and good engine milk offering in the evening and for the price included breakfast. Bed mattress was very worn and kept you rolling into the middle.
- Vanessa (10/5): - Beautiful location
Friendly welcome
Great breakfast
- Mark (10/5): Very welcoming staff and a very pleasant stay with great meals in the restaurant - The Old Mill is an Indian Restaurant with rooms above. It is resides in a beautiful quiet location with easy access to bigger local towns. The staff were very friendly and welcoming. They were keen to ensure everything was perfect for my stay. The room I had was clean and comfortable. Really comfortable mattress and pillows. Excellent meals in the restaurant. I will be back.
- Charmayne (10/5): Absolutely brilliant lovely place to stay - The staff were very professional and polite. They couldn't do enough to help and the room was lovely and clean and had everything we needed for our stay. We had an evening meal in the restaurant and the food was fantastic. The breakfast was lovely. Nothing
- Bowman (8/5): -
- Georgia Faye (5/5): 9:30PM curfew, but it's friendly - The staff are lovely, really helpful, friendly and attentive. The place is relatively clean, warm and inviting. The food was good and good value for money. It's very basic, the pictures are misleading, it's rooms above an Indian takeaway/restaurant. The beds were very hard. The key card for our room was temperamental and only worked about 20% of the time. The place shuts at about 9:30/10pm, so you need to be back by that time or the front door will be locked. Some mention of a curfew in the description would be helpful.
- Zara (8/5): -
- Caroline (8/5): Quiet and relaxing - The staff were ver friendly and welcoming. The food was excellent. The stay was very good value for money. We loved the room ut was very comfortable. Breakfast food and drink alternatives would be good
- Daniel (6/5): - Food Old room
- Graham (8/5): Short but pleasant - Friendly hard working staff
- Robert (8/5): - Food Low ceilings in the bedroom
- Tom (8/5): -
- Peter (2/5): We didn’t stay - The chap was pleasant. Sadly we didn’t stay more than an hour. We may have copped the worst room and others might be better. The room at the very top of the pub was in need a refurb but the issue was cleanliness for us. No toilet rolls, hand soap empty, safety pins and other debris on window sills including a towel from the previous occupants left on another window sills including. The bathroom was grim , recent stains on the toilet seat which I started to clean with a wet wipe but my daughter and I just couldn’t face staying in there a moment longer. The chap was nice and bought toilet rolls up when asked. We just slipped out and luckily managed to get a room at 7 pm in a pub in Olney which was wonderful and great value.
I never leave bad reviews but in all honesty we felt the chaps need to know that room, I think room 2 or maybe 3(loft) needs attention including their cleaning.
- Isobel (3/5): Not as advertised. Very disappointing - Comfortable and clean bed. The location was nice, in a quiet village. Room was cheap and shabby, very basic. No basic amenities including no shower gel in bathroom. Very shabby walkway up to room, bad smells. Breakfast was woeful, wouldn’t even call it breakfast. Mostly inedible. Asked for tea and got coffee with long life milk in. Again not drinkable. Couldn’t wait to leave this place.
- Julie (8/5): - Very pretty rural village, however it was difficult to get a taxi. Rahul offered to drive us to the party we were attending, and would not take any money. This was over and above expectations, thank you! Everything was ok..
- JA Maica (5/5): -
- Cliff (7/5): Nice stay - I didn't realise it was an Indian restaurant. I ate before I got there. Shame. The post code won't take you exactly there. You need to go further into the village.
- Julian (8/5): Lovely countryside pub/restaurant in a quiet village location - Lovely quiet location with great food Wasn't offered a coffee or tea with breakfast only orange juice..
- Milagros (10/5): Amazing - The accommodation is amazing, in a very small village, a comfortable room with a private bathroom inside a pub, which allows you to have a pint before going to sleep. The staff is wonderful, super attentive. The breakfast is delicious and complete. We asked for coffee and toast with our English breakfast and they got it for us without any problem Nothing
- Terry (5/5): Shame about the smells - Nice location and the room was big The smell at night of weed was so strong , either the staff or other guests were smoking it and it was so strong and unpleasant during the night
- Harold (9/5): Great venue for overnight stay - Ideal for overnight stay. Comfortable room with Shower room, TV. Were given a warm welcome and very friendly staff. We didn't eat in the restaurant for dinner as we were visiting our daughter. Smell from the kitchen was very inviting. Full English breakfast set us up for the day ahead. Parking was a bit tight with only on street available. Would definitely recommend Nothing, all was good
- Abigail (10/5): This place is outstanding value for money. It’s a lovely place to stay with welcoming staff - All the staff were delightful and very welcome. Nothing was too much trouble. The bathroom was spacious and bright. The bed was really comfy. There is no carpark but plenty of free road parking and the area is beautiful. A short walk to the river. The restaurant is very good Indian food - very fresh ingredients. This place is exceptiknal value for money. I will definitely stay again.
- Sonya (8/5): -

- Tony (5/5): Room above an Indian Restaurant - Beautiful country village location, enjoyed the drive through the countryside to get there. There is nowhere to relax inside at the bar as it's an Indian restaurant, staff are pushy for you to order food, the only cider on tap was unavailable so I ordered a coke. Refused food 4 times within the first 30mins of being there, asked by waiter/front of house if I liked poppadoms to which I replied yes I do with a chutney tray but made it clear I wasn't hungry as I had a late lunch.
After sitting in the beer garden to catch the sunset (Unkempt, ashtrays overflowing, lots of junk around) I went in to finish my drink, asked if I was ready to eat again! To which I apologised for not having an appetite, the waiter brought poppadoms and chutney tray to my table, I was grateful and thanked him for his kindness and generosity. I eat them and finished my drink to head to my room to relax for the night.
I went to pay my bill and was asked for £11.30!
"For a pint of Cola?" I asked, "and the poppadoms and chutney tray" he said, "but I never ordered those, I thought you brought them as a kind gesture?!" Ended up paying £10!!
Very annoying,! Won't be back!
- Donna (7/5): -
- Fiona (8/5): - Lovely location for walking. Good food in the evening. Good value for money
- soosie (8/5): Lovely location - Comfortable bed lovely room Breakfast. Having to leave and enter through the restaurant so having to come back before I wanted to because they closed restaurant
- Bob (5/5): OK, but not quite what we were expecting from the write-up. - Set in pretty village. Polite and helpful staff. Comfy bed. Tasty evening meal. Hotel does not have any parking and a car is the only realistic way to get there. Neighbour from hell opposite ranted that I was blocking his drive (which I wasn't). Room described as deluxe but I would describe as adequate. A case of over promising and under delivering.
- Virginia (10/5): -
- Rob Larkin (8/5): Great stay - The accommodation was exceptional,as was the comfort, the facilities and the staff .
The location is great, nice and rural No off road parking, although there was plenty of parking on the street.
I had a nap at 5.30pm, which lasted for 4hours, so when I went downstairs to partake of some food, they had closed for the evening including the bar, it was a Monday evening though..
- Vicky (7/5): Would stay again as in the countyside with nice views and nice rooms - Nice rooms nice staff and resturant curry food was lovely Could here loud talking from downstairs late on
- Proust (3/5): - The location is absolutely beautiful. The host kindly waited for us until late approx until 11pm. The room had no central heating, when we walked into the room it was freezing cold. The bathroom, no heating and freezing cold.
Breakfast is very poor with the possible cheapest ingredients, and very small portions. No sugar on the table, no coffee machine to get a variety of coffee, just black coffee.
I am a little bit surprised that this place got such high reviews, especially about breakfast.
Avoid it, in all costs!
- Ashton (9/5): - The staff (Teej in particular,) was very accommodating and friendly and really made our stay comfortable. No check-in desk availability and waling through the restaurant to check in.
- David (6/5): Terrible Breakfast - The room was beautiful. With comfy beds and stylish design. The restaurant was very good and we had a very nice curry. THE BREAKFAST
We were shown to a table, asked if we wanted tea or coffee. After 15 mins 2 breakfasts tuned up(1 fried egg, 1 hash brown, a pot of beans, 1 jumbo sausage cut in half and some mushrooms.) 5 mins after the food came the drinks turned up. After asking the host about toast and bacon he said we never ordered any. We were not given a menu to choose our breakfasts from. I was asked( on my way to the toilet ) how my breakfast was. I told him it was disgusting. When I went back to the table all the staff had disappeared. It really spoiled our stay.
- Michael (9/5): - Spacious room, charming building, good food
- Roz (7/5): -
- Matthew (8/5): Great location and value - The helpful welcoming staff
- Alan (8/5): Very satisfying pleasant stay - The fact that it was very quiet and listed building, very pleasant surroundings, nice quaint village area bit of the beaten track but just what we needed , nice comfy bed etc No decaf tea or coffee ! Only one bath towel to which we had to ask for second and wait longer than stated , no toilet paper in public toilet to which I had to ask for again ??
- Joe (10/5): -
- Iain (10/5): Character property in peaceful village with beautiful large room with sofa and desk and garden view, excellent breakfast - Character property in peaceful village with beautiful large room with sofa and desk and garden view, excellent breakfast and eggs, exceedingly good value
- David (9/5): - Peace and quiet and tranquil location
Great Indian cuisine on offer in the restaurant. n/a
- lyn (8/5): Restaurant with rooms. - Polite and helpful staff. Cosy environment. Comfortable bed. Quiet location. Ample size bedroom and nice hot shower. Restaurant well decorated but we didn't eat there. Nothing we disliked.
- Jacqueline (4/5): Indian Restaurant with Rooms above - Only saw two gentlemen, one at check-in in the restaurant (couldn't find my reservation to begin with and started yelling down the phone in another language to a colleague), the other was serving dinner and breakfast and he was truly exceptional. The property is in a rural setting. Has a meal in this Indian Restaurant and the food was OK. English breakfast (minus bacon) is served in the morning (low quality stuff). I would recommend the Indian Restaurant but not sleeping here. Noisy: If you want a restful night sleep, don't stay here; walls are paper thin you can hear everything going out, talking and walking in other rooms. Floorboards are extremely loud and creaky, was kept up all night. Staff constantly going outside and shouting (window was closed). Loud banging noises every time the shower is used in any adjacent room (in our case late at night / early morning). Had to be up at 6am for an event nearby and hardly got any sleep.
Deceiving photos: despite the photos, this isn't a cosy Country Pub / Inn. You walk straight into an Indian Restaurant, with rooms above. The whole place could do with a deep clean, particularly the narrow steps going up to the rooms, these were very dirty, green vinyl peeling off and dirty walls. First impressions not good as the guy in the restaurant couldn't find our reservation and started yelling back and forth at another guy on the phone.
The 'Suite' we stayed in is just a small room, but apparently this is a suite because it has a couch in it. The radiator wasn't working, but a brand new electric heater was provided in the room. The towel radiator in the bathroom was also not working and the bathroom was very cold. We don't really care that much about the stairs, room and bathroom needing TCL, but not been able to rest and sleep in such rural surroundings makes me want to warn others. There is no car park, so you will need to leave your car on the road. I would recommend the Indian Restaurant for a meal if you are in the area/ local, but not sleeping here.
- Kieran (6/5): -
- Marvelous (10/5): Absolute Gem of a place! Would highly recommend - The location, the assured safety and very welcoming and caring host Everything exceeded my expectations
- Shaun (10/5): Lovely stay in Newton Blossomville - The room was lovely, comfortable and had everything I needed for an overnight stay.
The location is beautiful, and I slept very well.
The staff are friendly and attentive. Will recommend to friends.
- Simon (3/5): NOT The Old Mill Inn as you would expect - it was nice outside only on street parking
the downstairs was not a traditional pub, it was an indian restaurant. knowone available to receive me. i had to go in search of someone. the food was poor. the bedroom was dated. the shower was small and water temperature changes from hot to cold continuously
- Patricia (10/5): -
- Neil (9/5): A very warm welcome and a very comfortable stay. I would stay here again - The welcome was fantastic. The staff were very friendly and attentive.
The food in the restaurant was superb with some different dishes on the menu. Also good value for money.
The breakfast in the morning was very generous and cooked well.
The bed was very comfortable and the room was very clean. No shower gel in the bathroom. I think this was a mistake, maybe someone had taken it.
- Conor (10/5): -
- Nathan (9/5): - Really friendly staff and amazing food. The staff were very accommodating and helpful.
- Catherine (7/5): -
- Hayden (9/5): -
- Bray (10/5): Nice little gem! - The manager (Indian guy) was very welcoming and hospitable. He took care of us and was very friendly throughout our whole 4 night stay.
The location is quite remote and you'll pretty much need transport to get anywhere but the peace and quietness of the location made our holiday very different to most hotel chains (in a positive way).
The room itself were okay size, not too big and not too small. The restaurant/bar was open during our stay but unfortunately, they weren't fully opened and they weren't serving their usual menu. I was gutted that couldn't try their curry!
- Caroline (7/5): The staff were great, and we couldn’t do enough for me however it’s not for me bit too remote needs a lot of renovation. - To be fair, I I didn’t see this property in the daylight as I was working. The hotel is under a lot of refurbishment. The rooms are very tired however the bedding towels are clean and the staff were very accommodating. The Parking was really really Ltd and being single female on my own. I had to park a considerable distance away which is not comfortable when it’s pitch black there’s minimum lighting and you’re trying to navigate your way to a hotel that you’ve not used before.

- Jane (3/5): Not at all enjoyable! - Comfy bed (although rather a small double!) Not at all as advertised. I booked a “suite” and it was a basic double room. No garden view. Was not the room in the advertised pictures on booking.com!Very tatty, cold bathroom with no toiletries and damaged bath, no parking, poor wifi, noise from bar, no choice of breakfast and only served 8am-9am, light switch in awkward place. Very disappointed as falsely advertised.
- Shazkin (3/5): -
- Judith (2/5): Didn’t stay following arrival - Man on reception very pleasant - offered to find some slippers Didn’t stay at property despite paying up front.
Property not advertised or correctly represented on Booking . Com. It once was a country inn but now is an Indian restaurant with rooms. Rooms poor standard of finish - not deluxe superior or luxury by any stretch of the imagination. No bathrobes or slippers as stated - toiletries amounted to left over bit of shower gel and shampoo in larger container. No onsite parking, place deserted, black mould corner of bath / shower, loud Indian music playing, despite advertised with restaurant - only food on offer chicken burger and chips. Had to order breakfast from laminated sheet at reception even stating whether we wanted water. Not for us!
- Emmanuelle (8/5): We enjoyed our stay at the Old Mill. - The room was large and comfortable, the food very good and the staff very friendly. it wasn't very easy to park the car on the narrow road.
- michael (9/5): We only stayed the night, but found it friendly and pleasant, just what we were looking for. - Could only eat a small breakfast as the evening meal in there restaraunt was very filling, but it was nice.
The price for the accommadation was very reasonable.
- Colin (10/5): -
- Jo (10/5): Lovely place - Lovely bedroom, great staff & quiet location
- Mr Clive (10/5): -
- Andrew (8/5): Very comfy. Good food large room good breakfast - Had a very good biriani cooked for me
- Adam (10/5): - Lovely quiet hotel. The host was helpful and made sure we were comfortable. Beds are comfortable and overall it's great value for money.
- MICHAEL (10/5): -
- cosmo (9/5): great accommodation - a pleasant stay in a quiet village The staff were exceptionally helpful
- Janet (6/5): - Beautiful location and friendly staff Our room was cold and breakfast was disorganised
- Dale (10/5): We stayed for two nights and had two amazing breakfasts ,we walked the local countryside over to the next village of Tur - It is a Charming old village pub in a beautiful location ,the rooms were spacious and clean and finely decorated ! Nothing it’s was perfect and the staff were very friendly and kind
- Simon (9/5): Enjoyable stay. Great Indian food and very accommodating host - The combination of pub and tandoori restaurant was great. Rahul — the owner — is always looking to please and was very responsive to all requests. The village is quiet and picturesque. the lack of off street parking and hunt for parking spaces on a daily basis was often a challenge.
- Marian (9/5): Welcoming, warm and perfect for us. - Breakfast was quickly served and very well cooked.
The member of staff could not have been more helpful and pleasant.
The room was larger than I had expected. The manager moved his car to allow us to park very near the entrance but if he hadn’t we would have been quite a walk away for my friend.
- Charlene (8/5): Lovely stay - Clean, very friendly and helpful staff. Late check-in. It was a bit distant from the centre. Not the best if you’re not driving.
