- Vinay (1/5): -
- Zarzycka (1/5): - We booked two rooms for five people. They canceled our reservation an hour before check-in. Later, they called to say the rooms were still available because someone had canceled. We went there, and one room was occupied by someone. There were belongings and cigarette smoke in it. This room had only one bed. The other room had a single bed. There were more people injured in the hallway. They didn't get the door code from the owner. It was a complete scam. They didn't refund our money, even though they promised to. We couldn't find any accommodations. We had to leave. Our vacation was ruined.
- Dunne (1/5): Slum - A fire, burn it down.
- barry (3/5): Bad - nothing been expected to sleep in a bed some one has just got out of
no hot water!!
incorrect phone number for help
Grubby all towels bedding dark to hide stains etc
- John (6/5): Satisfacory and as expected. - The acting "handy-man" (Nathan) was extremely helpful.
Good value for money. Shared loo spotted with urine.
Heating was stuck on max so room was too hot.
Incidentally, no sea view from my room.
- Capucine (1/5): Vile place, shameful host. - This was truly the worst accommodation I have ever booked, and the host the most shameful I have dealt with. I have nothing good to say. We booked well in advance and confirmed our arrival time with the host on the day of arrival. Our host said that he would send check-in details later in the day. Nearing the property, we chased him up for further details, but found that he would not reply to us.
When we arrived at the property, we knocked many times, and repeatedly tried our host on the phone again. Eventually, other guests opened the door. They let us in and said that they had ‘never stayed in a place like this before’.
Another guest then came down the stairs and said that he had managed to get hold of the host, as lots of guests were arriving without having been given check-in details and he wanted to try to help. He said that our room was not clean, that the sheets were not clean, and that we would have to do it ourselves as the host had not sorted out a cleaner for that day. Neither had he notified us of this, nor had the decency to cancel the booking. He also said that we wouldn’t have keys to use (that guests had been cutting each other keys all week as the host had not provided them) and suggested we share the sole set of keys with all of the new guests.
We got into the room. It had clearly been more than a couple of days that it had not been cleaned. There were crumbs and dirt all over the carpets, surfaces, and the underside of the bed looked like it had not been vacuumed in months.
As we were changing our own sheets with some we had found downstairs, we finally got a reply from our host. He asked us to ‘bare with him’. This was the last time we were to hear from him until after we had ‘checked out’.
To be frank, this place was utterly terrible. However, the worst thing about it was the sheer lack of respect with which we were treated by our host. He took our money, and then ignored all communications, and did not have the decency to cancel a booking which he clearly had no intention of honouring. If it weren’t for the help of fellow guests, we would have been out in the street.
- Mitchell (10/5): Review - Clean easy to access room. Host was clear and helpful in confirming reservation and settling in
- Linda (7/5): -
- David (2/5): The cancelled loads of people on the day - unfortunately, I wasn't one of them - I liked the fact it was quite near the train station so I could get away easily. The family room has a cupboard full of games, including some X-rated ones, which is a bit weird if you have kids sleeping on the futon at the foot of the bed. Owners told me by phone that there was a key in a key safe - there wasn't. They had overbooked the accommodation several times over in advance, then cancelled lots of people on the day. Unfortunately, they did not cancel me - or the other person who had got my room and already taken the key. There were dozens of people trying to figure out what to do. I ended up sharing the room I had booked with two other people. I contacted the owners saying I wanted a refund, they have not replied. There is no wifi. There was no hot water at all on Sunday morning. The windows do not open. It's the most basic accommodation you could get, and I suspect the owners - who have many more properties - are making a mint out of the government by providing rooms for the unemployed and migrants with few choices. If you are going to Herne Bay you must be able to do a lot better, even in the off season.
- DublinDarren (2/5): Not Recommended - The location is fine. The room was tiny with just a single bed and desk and chair. There was a clothes rack but with just one hanger at the end of the bed.
The shared shower had no shampoo or shower gel. On the 2nd morning of my stay there was no hot water in the shower and on the final morning the water cut out mid shower.
WiFi did not work at all for the duration of my stay.
Worst of all though was that the property cancelled my friends booking at 5pm on the day of arrival. They also did this for other guests who were booked into the property.
This is completely unacceptable as there were no other rooms available in Herne Bay that weekend.
- Kevin (1/5): Dirty - Nothing Everything dirty sheets & matress shower held together with boxtape this was not worth the money the 2 beds in our room too small looked like kids bunkbeds
- Becky (10/5): -
- Anny (8/5): - It's good to stay 1 or 2 nights maximum The floor was dirty, the trash can was full
- Cocian (5/5): - Numic Nu ieste nimica sa ati placa acolo
- William (4/5): -
- Sharon (1/5): Horrid - Would never use this again Everything about it I even contemplated sleeping in my car
- Chris (6/5): Basic room, no frills. Good location near to Herne Bay seafront. - The host was polite, welcoming and helpful The room was basic
- Hazel (7/5): Enjoyable with a nice atmosphere - The Manager of the property was most helpful , friendly and did everything he could do to help. No table in the room
- Isobel (7/5): Good for a one night stay. - When we arrived we were greeted very well by the host. We were shown to our room. Our room smelt very clean. The rooms are basic and dated however it’s good value for money. The bed was comfortable and clean. The kitchen was nice and we had access to it. Shared bathroom with about 3 other room however we didn’t see any other guest so did not effect this. Some furniture was a bit tatty, like the paint work and carpets. Didn’t effect the stay though
- Emiliya (4/5): Passable - The location was good. Near the sea side and the high street The cleanliness of the room and shower room on top floor. There was so much dust under the bed, the blind on the window was broken.
- Francois (5/5): -
- Chelsea (8/5): Very enjoyable great location - It was cosy and the bed was very comfortable Sea view was limited
- Shuk Man (3/5): -
- Philip (10/5): A very warm and friendly welcome from Bill. Great communication and a friendly and extremely professional service. Absol - Very clean and comfortable. Nothing
- Philip (10/5): -
- Marsden (9/5): - Needed somewhere last minute very pleased bargain.Great value washing machine dryer good kitchen Walk up the stairs on new year's eve 🙂
- Sally (1/5): -
- Alison (1/5): Terrible - Nothing Everything
- england (1/5): - Nothing Everything
- mark (10/5): - Great communication with owner ...clean throughout. Heating on so room was lovely and toastie.nice and quiet in the evening so had a wonderful sleep...would highly recommend 👌
- Nicola (6/5): Ideal for one night when travelling. - Good location, comfy bed and sofa bed. Great TV The radiator was hanging from the wall. The door to the terrace was unlocked with no key provided. This was very risky with three infants so I kept waking in the night to make sure they were all present and asleep. The blinds were broken and Christmas lights in the houses opposite were also another factor in keeping me awake as we couldn’t pull the blinds down and water when showering was barely warm.
- MrAaron (10/5): -
- Philip (6/5): Fine for a night - Its ok. Good for a night stay. Needs more maintenance.
- Makeila (2/5): It was a bed for the night, but I wouldn’t go back. - I got the check in info late so couldn’t leave my things there before work. The windows were open when I got in and the radiator not working so to was cold. Bathroom and kitchen not very pleasant. Not curtains just flimsy blinds. Toilet in bathroom not working. Fridge was more of a freezer.
- EMMA (1/5): I would not book again. - On a plus, the owner provided a key code to access the key as I was arriving late at night. I am sorry to say that room 9 was just awful. I expected the room to be small but the single bed was springy, lumpy & uncomfortable. The pillows were lumpy and terribly uncomfortable (probably been washed & the cheap wadding inside never flattens properly). The radiator was on full which in such a small room was stifling. There was condensation on the window & a mosquito in the room. The sea view (not important to me) was way in the distance & just about visible so don't book if this is important to you. There are several flights of stairs so be mindful if stairs/luggage is an issue. There was a small desk & chair (unnecessary in my opinion) & when I placed my toothbrush on the desk it slid off & clattered on the floor (slopey tiny desk=pointless). A better option would be a small side table by the bed for water, mobile, tissue, etc.
The tiny (really narrow & small) shared bathroom had no loo roll (big issue!!) & someone had depressed the flush & it was stuck so water was gushing into the loo. I fixed this(!). There was no space to dry if you had a shower (which I did not due to the space & standard) so I imagine a larger person (I am 5 feet) might struggle. You need to literally navigate the tiny sink (no plug) which is in the way of both the loo & shower. Madness. The shared kitchen had a laundry pile & a sink of dirty crockery. It felt very much like a student accommodation only worse. Definitely not value for money.
- Dan Murphy (5/5): Shocking pit of a place - It was dry. When we arrived at 5pm I had still not received any access instructions from the host. We called and got the impression our arrival was all a bit of a surprise to him. He sent us the key box code via text. The place is a bit like a student flat, extremely basic and hardly any decoration inside. It is advertised as having "A Seaview". It has not, it is two roads away from the sea. Maybe if you are standing on the roof you could see the sea. We had two rooms (4 and 4a) on the ground floor and the heating was turned up to maximum. The temp regulators on the radiators had been broken off so it was impossible to turn them off, and we had to sleep with all the windows and doors open all night (not ideal if you are a single woman). The rooms were very basically furnished with budget furniture, and the beds were barely a step above fold up camp beds - it was NOT a comfortable nights sleep. The person in the room next to us was playing loud music at 3am which required getting up and banging on the door to get him to stop, not ideal. The final insult was the (shared) bathroom had no toilet paper. If your guests have to bring their own bogroll you could at least make this clear. The best bit about staying here was leaving.
- Slawomir (7/5): -
- Tracey (1/5): Very poor...do not stay here. - Nothing. This is not a guest house, this is a shared house. The rooms listed are very basic and appear clean. We did not stay as we didn't feel safe. People were arguing and was quite noisy. Shared bathroom and kitchen was clear but due to environment, we didn't stay. Not good for families or single women. Bed was very soft when we sat on it. Found another accommodation closer, which was 100% better. This accommodation has a poor reputation within the community, we discovered. Do not stay here!
- Rollo (1/5): Dreadful-Don't Go There. - I have already sent a report stating this is a dreadful place with which we left and stayed at Premier Inn. This is a dump for immigrants.Outside grim and inside smelly with cooking from a communal kitchen in fact shared toilet and leaking, shared everything. I have requested our money back. Booking.com should not be advertising this place. EVERYTHING. THERE WAS NOTHING TO LIKE. NEVER BEEN I A PLACE LIKE THIS EVER! I regret not taking photos to leave quickly was the main thought. A refund of my £68.00 is most desired. And last no parking which is Street Parking.
- Jacek (10/5): -
- Steve (6/5): -
- Dawn (1/5): Dont stay - Nothing Everything the rooms werent cleaned the kitchen sides and bathroom were filthy
- Danny (5/5): it was adequate for my needs. - Not too far from railway station, as only stating for two nights it was adequate for my needs. Room OK but all a bit tired, what looked like black mould on window frame, bedding clean but could do with replacing, bottom sheet old stained with red splashes (maybe paint), as room was on the top floor a kettle in the room would have been nice instead of having to go down 3 floors for hot water.
- Graham (1/5): Avoid - Nothing. Room was very basic. Radiator too hot ,room uncomfortable, curtains didn't quite shut. No garden view, just as well as it was crap. Fire exit blocked. Didn't feel safe and did not stay. No sign of fire regulations. Only there for a short while and people walking past to smoke/vape in garden.
- Patricia (3/5): - The location was good for what we needed. We did not get the address, pin numbers or any detail until I chased for them, then only received the pin number for 1 room, again I had to chase for the pin for the second room. When we actually got the key for the second room, it did not work and we could not get into the room, so all 3 of us had to sleep in a twin room, my brother had to sleep on the floor. I notified the the guesthouse but have not had a response.
I made multiple phone calls to the guest house but no-one ever answered.
It is advertised as a guesthouse, however it is actually a HMO, virtually no customer service. It was a bad experience from beginning to end and I would like a refund.
- David (1/5): - Not much! And there was no sea view just a dirty concreted back garden. Some oiks cleared out the fridge one day including a lunch I had just purchased. Through getting angry with them I got my things restored to me! And again where was the sea view. The room didn't even have a table! See above. Don't you check any of your rooms?

- Joshua (2/5): Greatly disappointed with this booking. - The location was good, however, limited or no parking. Had to park further away with children. Not clean towels, too basic.
- John (5/5): Just Passable - Easy to book and access. The room was a little shabby and just passable. Luckily, it was just the one night stop over.
Wouldn't stay again.
- Cannon (8/5): Comfortable stay - Good location
Comfortable
Massive tv and good sided bed Wasn’t clear where to leave the key after and shared bathroom which wasn’t a massive issue but good to know
- Dave (7/5): - Cooking facilities were great. Not much to see as window looks out to a fence .garden needs tidying.
- Becky (8/5): Owner very helpful and quick at answering the phone when I had questions. Room was huge, very clean and had everything w - Very clean, brilliant location, lovely quiet road.
- Caroline (10/5): For all of you who wrongly wrote bad reviews. - The owner was an extremely obliging gentleman. I arrived well over an hour early and he very kindly allowed me to go into the room but couldn't give me the key until 3pm as that is policy.
This is for all you lot who gave Pure edge bad reviews I saw the owner cleaning underneath the banister rail as well as the top and bars.
I also moved my furniture out and not a speck of dust behind any of it.
It is basic with shared facilities but what a fabulous value for money price you get if you can book in advance. A stones throw from the seafront.
I wished I'd booked for longer to have more time to explore Herne Bay. Nothing
- John (3/5): Very basic - No tv no wi-fi no tea facilities the toilet was dirty
- Isabel (4/5): -
- Jemma (8/5): Loved staying here - We love staying her it’s comfortable warm near everything staff are lovely , we try stay here all the time we come to Kent Only thing that was difficult was parking , we had to walk from a different street in the rain
- Paul (7/5): - Convenient location, just off seafront and Tesco local just round the corner. Bill, the housekeeper, was great, polite and helpful. The accommodation is basic. Nothing wrong with it, but no frills.
- Yvonne (2/5): Not great but very low price - Not much apart from the low price! It's not very clean and the house isn't well maintained. Would only recommend if you're on a really tight budget.
- denise (1/5): totally awful - ABSOLUTELY NOTHING DID NOT LIKE ANYTHING ABOUT THE PROPERTY. Only stayed one night although booked for three, could not wait to leave, Slept fully clothed with out towels on the bed!! The property smelt of damp and there was snails on the back door
Seemed more like a HMO than a guest house
- Paul (7/5): -
- Ben (7/5): -
- la bruna (8/5): Good value for money, but... - Spacious room, clean, amazing location. The guy who checked me in was nice. Comfy bed Not responsive at all on the app, I was given the check in instructions 1h before it and cause I called and called. Also, misleading name there is not street view
- Rosalind (5/5): Very basic, clean, friendly staff. - Location fine. Properly clean. Room small but adequate. Full use of kitchen which I didn't require. Key safe for house & room key so I could come & go as I pleased. Location fine, I couldn't see the sea from the property. Small room, no wardrobe. Tiny toilet & shower room mostly taken up by the sink which stuck out so far it was hard to get round.
Small room, hard bed.
I noticed the key safe to my room had been opened & the code left in place so that anyone could access the property & my room. When asked the proprietor told me it was too check if I was in. Why that required checking I don't know. This made me anxious about security.
- Isabella (7/5): -
- Marc_Th (3/5): - Water came through the ceiling at night. A lot of rooms for a small house...
- Nicola (2/5): - The location, within short walking distance to the beach The cleanliness of the accommodation and maintenance. Although one of our rooms was okay the other room had a broken window and a strange unidentifiable odour. Also when i checked under the bed for anything we'd left i discovered it was filthy. The "terrace" is being used to store broken chairs and a disused washing machine, it is not fit for purpose. Although cooking facilities are available there is no where to sit and eat.
- francesca (6/5): -
- Susana Maria (10/5): - The bedroom rental in Herne Bay was comfortable and had everything I needed for a short stay. The location is convenient, close to the seafront and shops. The host was very friendly and easy to talk to, which made the stay pleasant. Overall, a good option if you’re visiting the area.”
- Jürgen (7/5): -
- Monique (5/5): - Jardin mal entretenu,
- Shirley (6/5): - The room had plenty of space for the 3 of us with suitcases and the beds were comfortable. Had access to kitchen facilities to heat our dinner. We had a bit of trouble finding the house as had no internet to read the emails. House Number should be on initial booking confirmation .
- Slawomir (1/5): Money, Petrol, and Time Down the Drain - To be honest not to much say about good things I am requesting a full refund for booking at Pure Edge Beach Guest House with Sea View due to severe cleanliness issues, safety hazards, and multiple false advertising claims. On arrival, we found unhygienic conditions (hair in bathroom, food remains in sink, dirty towels, stains, dust), unsafe furniture, hazardous wiring, and no promised sea view or accessible garden. We arrived at 3:00 pm, left at 7:49 pm, and spent no more than 1–2 hours inside before deciding the property was unfit to stay in.
- michael (9/5): -
- David (6/5): -
- Phi (10/5): - Use of kitchen
- Pip (8/5): - I left something behind, and a very nice gentleman called Bill offered to post it back to me. All fine
- Hartmut (8/5): - Schönes Zimmer, große Küche Bad sehr eng, Wasser in der Dusche schwierig einzustellen
- Andrejus (1/5): -
- Maira (9/5): Really good price for the room and it’s in very nice place to stay. Thank you - The service was brilliant, owner it self was very nice and friendly. Room was really good size for us, we were 4 people together.
- Danny (8/5): - The bed was comfy. Good location.
- Valerie (1/5): Very surprised that booking.com exercised so little caution with vetting hosts. - Nothing Shared facilities should be very clearly marked as such. The place felt like a shared dormitory with random items lying around both in the common space and on the room that we were sleeping in. The room was hardly furnished, just an old bed frame and a very old sofa bed in an empty room with no chairs, or any other proper furniture. There’s a wobbly clothes dryer for you to hang your coats but that was about it. Windows and door to balcony does not close properly, strange noises in the neighbourhood late at night. Everything about the house gives very uncanny vibes we had to book somewhere else and move out the second night.
- ym (4/5): -
- Elaine (9/5): Quiet area, affordable, owner was checking the site until nigh time when we were there. - Location, price, nice staff/owner Nothing
- Vindel Hernandez (5/5): Cheap but uncomfortable - It was cheap and it is near the Beach First, the beds, so uncomfortable, like we could feel the springs and didn’t let us sleep well. Second, it says it has seaview, well it’s a lie, cause I stayed in the second floor and the only view I had was to the back garden.
- craig (8/5): - Close to sea front...Good parking 👍
- Gill (8/5): As it was purely for an overnight stay for a family party, we didn’t make full use. - Everything was fine. It was only hired as a place to sleep, so didn’t really spend much time there.
- Sita (1/5): unless your student on a budget dont bother!! - nothing except bill nice guy and working hard decor, bed, pillows, room, curtain, no fan, no TV , poorly decorated, no mirror in room, spring sticking out of mattress, horrible bathroom- supposed to be sea view hotel, dog barking and cats fighting outside. Was asked to pay £10 extra for arriving 1 hour early - awful
- Jamie (10/5): -
- Michael (1/5): This was my worst stay ever - No parking and locked out on second night off two night stay. One bathroom between nine rooms
- Roman (10/5): -
- Monika (3/5): -
- Wieland (9/5): Es war großartig. - Es ging uns sehr gut in dieser kleinen feinen Unterkunft. Der Chef der Unterkunft war immer mit Rat und Tat für uns da. Das war toll.
- Jacqueline (5/5): Budget place to stay, Don't expect too much - It was a budget stay for one night in the right area so for that it suited There was no house no shown on my booking so it took a while for me to find the property. There was no communal area to sit & the kitchen only had an old computer desk & office chair to sit on. The garden was unkempt & again no where to sit
- Brian (3/5): - The Price Small pillow, squeaky bathroom door with 2 close neighbours regularly opening and closing. No glass or cup. Basic, Basic! But worth the low price.
- Jim (3/5): -
- Emma (10/5): - Great value for money.
Location was brilliant close to the beach and all local amenities.
