Guest Reviews
- Patricia (10/5): I would totally come back to La Gaite. It’s cozy and very well equipped. We lived the street full of theaters and cafes - Location was excellent. I had to wash the dishes before eating as they were dusty.
- Andrew (2/5): They are dishonest, major black mold problem - Nadiia, the girl he met us was great. Location is good. The entire apartment smells like black mold. Need to keep all windows open. I had to seal along the baseboards with tape to keep the mold smell from coming in from the attic. The company also charged me an extra 100 Euros on my credit card saying I took linens from their locked cabinet (locked with a padlock according to them, see email, so how did I get inside?). In reality I took linens from under the attic bed because there were no linens provided for the bed downstairs. They also claim that the apartment was very dirty when I left and that I broke a statue. They also claim that we left all of the towels black. All lies.
- Mdscrutono (10/5): The 14th is a Great Place to Stay! - We loved this property! The interior was comfortable, open, clean, well decorated and well maintained. We felt like we were locals, felt like we were home and enjoyed the surroundings community immensely. All of us have stayed in Paris numerous times, within many of the Arrondissements (but never in the 14th) it was well worth the stay. Restaurants, cafe's, theatres, markets and local bodegas were easily accessed, relatively inexpensive and filled with great staff. This will be in our toolbox as a go to for future stays. There was nothing negative about this property.
- Kay (1/5): Bad - Central location close to two metro stations, plenty of restaurants in the vicinity. We stayed 13 nights and the appartment lacked equipment for cleaning. There was only a broom, but nothing to pick up the dirt from the floor and no vacuum cleaner. The toaster did not work properly. The appartment was on the fourth floor without lift, challenging to lift up heavy luggage. The stairs to the second level of the appartment (bedroom and bathroom) were very narrow and steep and in fact quite dangerous (if you need go to the toilet during the night from the first level where another bed was located).
The worst part was, however, that there were mice in the appartment. We heared them rustle every night, one night they gnawed our bread, another night our fruit. On three occasions we saw them run from the kitchen to the appartment door.
We complained about this to the owner via booking.com, the response was that this is normal in Paris in spring and that we can leave the appartment, but finding a suitable alternative appartment on short notice that matched our requirements was not possible.
It took about one week and a reminder until the owner placed traps, but they were not effective - the mice continued to run through the appartment.
We asked several times for a price reduction in compensation for this rather disgusting experience (the thought that the mice walk over the kitchen desk where we prepare food was not exactly relaxing). But these requests were simply ingored, the owner didn't even answer them.
This mice experience essentially ruined our stay in Paris.
- Malcolm (10/5): Welcoming home base close to transit and restaurants. - Location was central and close to awesome restaurants.
Lively area and we were surprised that when we closed window we discovered that the apartment was so quiet.
Great that we were so close to two different metro stations which gave us lots of flexibility as to which line to use when traveling to sites.
The apartment served as a wonderful sanctuary after a busy day in the city.
We were often looking forward to returning to the apartment which felt like a comfortable home😀
Also a really nice surprise: market days Wednesday and Saturday just one block away made this location special! Next guests might appreciate some tea mugs and a bottle opener.
