Guest Reviews
- Magdalena (9/5): -
- Angela (7/5): The room upgrade was amazing and really comfortable. The Apple TV box was a big bonus. Check-in was not so simple and - It’s was very quiet and we had a lovely upgraded room with a beautiful bathroom Check-in and checkout was not straightforward. Dinner in the bedroom. Also the outdoors looked like it hadn’t been cared for, pool was green.
- Irene (8/5): Beautiful chateau - The decor. The food. Friendly staff. There seemed to be one girl doing everything, while she was great, she could have done with help to avoid long waits.
- FABRICE (9/5): -
- mike (10/5): -
- Pam (7/5): Quirky but lovely - The staff and chateau were lovely. I would describe the style as quirky bohemian. Room was lovely and clean.
We were given a complementary drink for the fact we had to wait for service which was appreciated. They only seem to have limited staff and as they had a function there at the same time it meant we were waiting a while for service.
We also hadn't realised that checkout was online and as there was nobody around in the morning we had to leave the key in the room. Just a bit confusing which could be down to the language barrier.
- Selvin (9/5): -
- Rick (10/5): - great food and accommodation friendly staff
- emma (9/5): Very good - Beautifully furnished room
Amazing sjower No milk for tea 😂
- Elnaz (8/5): -
- Jonathan (8/5): Beautiful - Absolutely beautiful place just a short distance from the airport. Rooms we had were fantastic

- Cookson (10/5): Amazing - Friendly staff
- lorel (10/5): Fabulous family owned gem of a Chateau, I could have stayed another week! - Beautiful little gem, 5 minutes from Grenoble Alpes airport, 10 mins from A48 Grenoble/Lyon motorway and absolutely worth the small deviation. What a treat, stunning country walks right outside the Chateau. Fabulous rooms with amazing views of the grounds and pool. Original and authentic building with modern quirky twists. Really charming family owned Chateau with wonderful staff and surroundings. What a find, could have stayed a week!!! It was perfect in all senses!
- Steven (9/5): - Our accommodation was spacious and comfortable. Yes it’s old but it didn’t feel run down or shabby. We had dinner in the restaurant which was of a high quality and good value. Staff were friendly and helpful plenty of safe parking.
- Breure (10/5): séjour parfait - Tout était parfait, accueil, le personnel, restauration, logement, le cadre, rien
- Christelle (10/5): Très bon Séjour, parc magnifique. Personnel agréable et chambre superbe. Je recommande. -
- Femmy (10/5): Geweldig - Kamers Niks
- Domenc (10/5): Petit bijou - Cadre magnifique acceuil super calme tranquillité
- Anthony (10/5): -
- Benoit (10/5): Cadre enchanteur -
- Luca (10/5): - Very peaceful corner of nature to relax and enjoy some peace in some tastefully decorated rooms.
- Ben (10/5): My second stay at the chateau and it was as special as the first time. I would highly recommend. - This was my second stay at the chateau as I stayed the week before with my wife. This time I was travelling alone and was nicely suprised when I received a free upgrade to my room. The owner of the chateau greeted me and was incredibly welcoming. I had another lovely caesar salad with a complimentaty tiramisu. I had breakfast the next morning which was in a lovely setting outside and the owner could not have been more accommodating. I will be staying again in the future. There was nothing I disliked about the chateau.
- Ben (10/5): A beautiful chateau in a lovely peaceful setting with great staff to make my stay memorable. - This was my first stay at the chateau and it was absolutely beautiful. The chateau was set in a fantastic location and was very peaceful. The staff were extremely helpful and would highly recommend anyone to stay here. The room was lovely and clean and the caesar salad I had was very enjoyable. There was nothing I would change about the chateau or my stay.
- nicholas (10/5): -
- nicholas (10/5): -
- Olivier (7/5): Nice room but lack of good service … - The room was very spacious & reasonable price ! The restaurant in the chateau is not open for dinner , there’s only 1 restaurant in the village we can go ! The continental breakfast is over price for €20 per person ! Staff didn’t give us WiFi password as it’s not written in the room !
- Helena (5/5): Passable - Insufficient staff for breakfast it took forever to be served
- Ali (9/5): Serenity and comfort - Chateau des Ayes is located in the very calm area of St Etienne de St Geoirs, easily accessible from the Grenoble airport and surrounded by calm roads and a lot of greenery. We have been impressed with the serenity and calmness, enjoyed great nights and lovely small hikes around the property surrounded by greenery.
The Roof Suite on the second floor (no elevator) is very large, has two bedrooms with one twin bed in each (and, enough space to also put the baby cot), a living room (with even a monitor in case you want to work remotely) and a jacuzzi style bathtub as well as a shower.
The restaurant is very good too, both for the varied and very customisable breakfast as well as for the lovely dinner. For dinner, though, especially when the weather is nice and a lot of people come for the restaurant, avoid being in a rush - The lovely dishes take a bit of time.
The staff have been exceptionally kind with us and our little one.
- Merav (7/5): Nice - Very nice designed The cost. The facilities and opening time
- Zachary (8/5): Very good -
- Amy (10/5): Exceptional -
- Tessa (9/5): Lovely - A gorgeous location with friendly staff, all very clean though the room smelled of damp
- Ali (8/5): Lovely stay in unique chateau - Incredibly comfy bed. Very quiet location so great nights rest. Perfect location for airport the next day. Friendly staff. Little short on staff so inconsistent service at times.
- Scott (10/5): Exceptional -
- Rhys (10/5): Exceptional - Beautiful setting, friendly staff and delicious food
- Richard (8/5): Charming - Very helpful pre arrival phone call !
- David (10/5): Exceeded all expectations- highly recommended - Superb welcome , fabulous suite room which exceeded all expectations, lovely bed linen, and towels, bathrobes - excellent car parking, early morning transfer organised for me from hotel to airport - I would most definitely and highly recommend
- Lady (8/5): Convenient chateau by Grenoble Airport - Beautiful Chateau. Free upgraded room, delicious dinner and lovely hot tub. Comfy bed, great shower and pretty decor. Minor DIY issues, central heating was u/s but they did provide electric heaters. Bedroom window would push to but catch u/s. No robes but it is a spa hotel and we had booked the jacuzzi, so you have to walk through the car park and change there but there are no private changing facilities.
- Mark (6/5): Awful service and staff - could be great place - Excellent restaurant for dinner. Countryside location. Awful policies and stuff - totally unwelcoming. On checking the only receptionist was on the phone for at least five minutes before she paid any attention to me. She required a €200 hold on my credit card to check in. But their system didn’t work and she wouldn’t let us in the room until this credit card hold was processed, so we could not check in, even though we paid for the room already. later I had to go to a different computer with her to process this hold. When we came in for breakfast, there was no one at the reception or the breakfast area so we had to wait for a long time with no service there (no buffet, service only). ultimately we had to cancel breakfast because no one was there to provide it.
- James (9/5): Superb -
- Andrée (1/5): Way too expensive for what it is. - Quiet It is an old property which would need some renovation. Pool is old and not very clean. There is not enough staff and there are overwhelmed. Food menus options are super limited. Value for money is LOW.
- Pablo (6/5): Nice BUT… not that nice - It’s a beautiful hotel that looks much nicer in the pictures than in the reality .
Breakfast and dinner were very nice 1: there is not air condintioning ; in the middle of
The summer it was really hot and we were sweating all the time; even at night we couldn’t sleep . They put super small fans in the room absolutely worthless
2: the Bathtub didn’t work and we could use it
3: The shower joints were full of mold and mushrooms.
4: They are very insistent in the fact that you check in and check out online, the main reason being that once you are there it is almost impossible to find any of the staff.
5: photos of the pool in booking are wonderful but
They are just pictures…the reality is far from these photos. The pool is dirty and full of leaves, it is barely one meter deep and the material of the
material is like a crappy hard plastic
6:The food in the restaurant was ok but they have a problem with the staff; they are all super young inexperienced girls and it took them an hour to take our orders and the service was absolutely chaotic.
7: when you arrive they tell you that you are lucky because as an “advantage” you get the “minibar”.
I don't understand this very well as it is not free of charge; you have to pay for what you consume. ok I understand but where is the advantage then?
- Olha (10/5): Thanks! It was really good experience. - friendly staff, very beautiful house and hotel grounds
- Alan (4/5): Very disappointing and meals and wine way overpriced - Location staff friendly Room was run down. Bed uncomfortable bathroom door not closing. Overpriced breakfast ! 40 euro for 2 people. Expensive restaurant wine list took 200 Euro guaranty for 1 night !!!
- Jean (8/5): Very good - Chateau was surrounded by woodland. Very peaceful. Great walks to nearbycountryside. The double bed mattress was very uncomfortable, we didn't sleep well.
Needs new mattress
- Joanna (6/5): Comfortable but lacking that extra effort to make guests feel welcome - Location, quietness Could not find reception easily & when spoke with staff who were there to welcome guests they were not very customer friendly. Focuses on sorting their restaurant out. Got told they were not aware of our 2 year old even though it was written on booking. then charged extra for them even though policy wasn’t clear - and we needed nothing extra as it was a 3 bed room. We were told it was for the extra towels, tea products etc but none extra were given and we would not have needed them anyway.
- Francesmm (9/5): A comfortable overnight stop for Grenoble Airport - Great location for an overnight stop for Grenoble Airport. Comfortable, calm, very pretty. We had a good dinner in the restaurant and a very good breakfast. We were upgraded to a suite that was very comfortable. Nothing, it was perfect for an overnight stop before collecting friends from Grenoble Airport.
- Egle (9/5): We had a good experience and a very pleasant stay. - The staff is amazing - they all were very friendly, very helpful, everyone speaks English very good, they made our stay very pleasant and easy. The location is great and the property is nice and cozy. The restaurant was also a suprise - we had a wonderful dinner there. Breakfast is rather expensive.
- Angela (9/5): Superb -
- Anthony (7/5): Very comfortable although too short as we arrived very late having been delayed from Tigne - The staff were lovely. Particularly Jean who was incredibly helpful. We cannot thank him enough. The breakfast is very average - pain au chocolat that were clearly cooked from frozen not freshly made and in our case undercooked. No croissants - a very basic continental breakfast.
Do not rely on being able to book a taxi to the airport. There were none available.
- Barney (10/5): Exceptional -
- Andree (3/5): Place looked deserted, not very well kept - Not much to be honest
Staff friendly thou Room was cold
Not that clean
Shower corner got mould all over it
No restaurant - hot food not available in the evenings during our stay. Only ham and baked cheese.
One tiny water in the fridge and for sure can’t drink the tap water, taste awful.
- Blair (5/5): We knew before we went that it was fairly remote, but did not realize how remote. - The breakfast was great.
The place overall was charming. The staff was either very friendly or sullen.
It seemed as though the regular staff may have been on vacation and the fill ins may not have known everything about the hotel.
The rooms we had were up several flights of stairs with no elevator. This may have been communicated initially, but wasn't.
We had a shared outdoor porch, which was nice, but the furniture was in disrepair and the surrounding foliage was all dead.
The hotel overall needed some work-it was not kept up.
Most restaurants in the area are closed on Sundays and Mondays so it is very hard to get food. The hotel has a limited dinner menu on those days, which is very expensive.
- Mourad (8/5): Very good -
- Dan (7/5): Good -
- Stylianos (7/5): Unfortunately we were happy to leave - The pool was nice but not heated. The place is very pretty and exterior is beautiful. It has a great potential with a little more attention to guests. Decoration, cleanliness, we had a little cockroach bugs in the shower and one in the bed.. we alerted the staff but they didn’t suggest anything.
The breakfast was very poor, few choices and miniature portions. We were said afterwards that we could have asked for more but during the breakfast we didn’t have the impression that this was an option.
