Guest Reviews
- Enrico (1/5): A terrible experience and I won’t be using Canvass nor Booking.com again unless I get a full refund plus expenses not to - I was denied access and no refund my Canvass I booked throughbooking.com which clearly states non-students can attend from May 1 onwards I have sent a report to Canvass. I expect a full refund please.

- Peter (9/5): Good value for money, convenient, would definitely go back. - Reception staff, the en-suite, the laundry How hot the room got on summer days, water pressure just about adequate, in the shower, but it could be a lot better, the cleaners didn’t seem to clean the kitchen at all.
- Matthew (9/5): Good value for money - Good space Not the properties place but a noisy building place over the road
- Anastasia (9/5): I enjoyed it - When I read the reviews I was really unsure how its gonna turn out because some reviews were really negative but to be honest I really liked everything about it, the studio was spacious and clean and the bed was super comfortable!! The staff was friendly and the city centre is close by!
- Laura (8/5): -
- Judith (9/5): Was very good and peaceful - Security The bed
- Gerald (7/5): Decent but horrible staff except for one. - The location was alrighy, okay system and everything. Felt a bit secure. The staff, constant lying and contradicting. Love putting everywhere how they’re „aVaiLabLe 24/7” but never pick up the phone, reception doors are locked at certain times giving false advertisement of the whole twenty four-seven thing. Only one person was genuinely helpful at this resort, wish I got his name but he was a black man that wears a hat and has glasses, bless him.

- james (9/5): Staff Were Great - The Staff were really Good as you could not fault them at all and was always there to help whenever there was any sort of problem which there wasn't many to start of with but always was eager to help . The only problem was that there was minor works going on in the complex with some refurbishment works getting carried out and i had a couple of minor incidents with the workmen working there who didn't understand certain house rules but the staff rectified it straight away so I was happy with that .
- Bekir (10/5): Exceptional -
- Wah01 (10/5): Nice location - Bed was not comfortable.
Location is good. Staff was good and cooperative.
- Sava (6/5): Decentish for budget travel - It's clean, decent space for single person, did like the public kitchenette. Main Lobby was nice, and the staff were quite chill. Sadly, didn't get to try the gym. Do like the relaxed policy on being able to use all facilities 24/7 and entering/leaving the building vicinity without any bother, considering would spend more time out with friends and would need to get back at unusual times. The lack of hot water for showering in private rooms. The room I was in had a non-functioning valve on the shower for the heat. The sink itself also seemed to had been clogged, so it would be full in 10 seconds of turning it on and take couple mins to drain. Other than that, don't think there's anything else to personally blame - the surrounding area of the dormitories feels shady, but that's moreso a problem of the city itself.
- Martin (8/5): Very good - The room was clean and comfortable, the staff nice and helpful.
All of that for a pretty low price. The Height is located outside the city center but is not that well connected to the rest of the city so it was sometimes a bit of a pain to get where I wanted when using public transport.
- Lara (7/5): Good -
- Veenaj (7/5): Small, clean, comfortable & functional budget accomodation. - Helpful & pleasant reception staff - especially Lawrence & Antonia! Safe & easily accessible location with 2 Tesco Express, Greggs & a few eateries nearby. Small, but functional room & bathroom with fresh sheets & towels available after 5 days. Access to shared kitchen useful with a welcome pack of tea, coffee, sugar & milk - nice touch. Convenient location to city centre & transport links. Would definitely recommend to budget solo travellers! Pungent, glue smell due to resurfacing of flooring throughout the block I stayed in. Lift not working from ground floor, only from 1st floor. Teeny, tiny shower room. No toaster in kitchen & only 1 refrigerator working; both freezers not properly functioning. Not all guests neat & tidy in terms of maintaining kitchen & removing rubbish bags when full.
- William (6/5): Basic but practical. - Basic but practical accommodation in central location. The room was missing a chair when I arrived but the hosts were quick to provide one once I got in touch. Facilities were adequate and clean. I wouldn't recommend the accommodation based on character or charm. It was student accommodation, partially under renovation, that served its function.
- Veenaj (7/5): Safe, comfortable stay, good location with basic facilities with definite room for improvements. - Reception Staff; Location; Safety; Ensuite bedroom. Glue smelling, sticky floors to & from my room due to refurb throughout my stay; tiny shower cubicle; sharing the kitchen as other guests did not dispose of the rubbish or keep the sink/fridge/dining table areas very clean. Damaged freezers with one fridge not cooling at all. No toaster available throughout my stay, despite being informed it was 'on order'.
- Pauline (8/5): Pleasant staff always asking if I need anything. - The welcome and friendliness of receptionist Lawrence and the back house team The reception bell at the front door does not say ‘press here’ so is not clearly visibly or noticeable when you require assistance or entry. Also the workmen left wet paint on the floor which was accidentally walked into the room
- Zak (1/5): Horrible, dead flies in the fridge. Dark corridors and poor lighting, door not locking. Felt like I was in a horror - Nothing, it was disgusting Everything
- Paraskevi (7/5): Good -
- John (9/5): Bit of a home from home. - These were student halls of residence close to the city centre just a short walk away. There was always someone available on reception. My kitchen wasn't shared and was included in a spacious self contained flat with a double bed. There was a locked bicycle storage space with anytime access. The keyfob access was a bit temperamental.
- Jonathan (8/5): Very good -
- Ly-ly (9/5): Superb - Very good value for the money. Friendly, helpful... just adorable staff.
- Hema (8/5): Very good -
- Rajesh (5/5): Passable - Location Too much noise from the street. Too hot inside the property, so had to keep the windows open. Lifts were not fully functional. Kitchen was stinking.
- Barbara (10/5): Accommodation that met my needs and was very comfortable. - Location was fine for my specific requirements. Plenty of storage space and well laid out in general. Staff gave clear and helpful information on my arrival. Grocery shopping for self catering available just a couple of minutes away. Would have liked a plastic liner for the rubbish bin. It would have been easier than carrying the bin down the stairs to empty it
- Chau (8/5): Very good - Nil Nil
- Imroz (1/5): Awfull - The accommodation did not match the pictures displayed on Booking.com. The floors in the hallways were peeling, and in some areas, there was no carpet at all. There was an unpleasant odor throughout the property, and the kitchen had lots of flies. The overall condition of the place was poor and nothing like the advertised images.
Additionally, I felt unsafe during my stay due to the unsavory surroundings and people loitering in the area. These circumstances led me to leave the accommodation as soon as possible. Regrettably, I was so overwhelmed that I did not think to take any pictures as evidence. Im still waiting till this day for my refund and a reply on my mail.
- Gyorgyi (7/5): A simple, but comfortable room in a youth hostel. Worth the price. - A comfortable youth hostel room, simple, but worth the price. The staff was very helpful. The room was clean. There is a gym and laundry facility. The public spaces were rather shabby and not very clean. Do not choose shared kitchen, if you are keen on cleanness.
- Joe (5/5): Passable -
- Chris (8/5): Fair for the price you pay - Price point was very cheap. Accommodation access was secure off the main road. Communal space was quiet. Emails stated hairdryer available..there wasn't. Bathroom sink was partially blocked. Advised the property of my mobility issues yet arrived to discover lift broken and was not preadvised. No real action taken to resolve the fact that this was an obvious problem for me (ground floor room not offered).
- Alison (4/5): This rental was adequate, but disappointing even as budget accommodation. - The staff were friendly and the location was close to town (although certainly not a high end area). The common area facilities were smart, clean and well maintained. The accommodation facilities were not as advertised. I did not expect fancy, but the condition of the private facilities were very poor. The common spaces were good, although functions such as tvs were unavailable (not tuned and then no reception) and the washing facilities unavailable to me as I did not have functioning phone access to install and use the app (coin access or card provision from reception would be best for short term visitors). Block access areas were being painted around us each day so improvements were actively being made, but condition was very poor. In my studio apartment some furniture was torn or badly deteriorating, there were holes in the carpet, the toilet seat was badly cracked, shower and kitchen sink did not drain properly and taps in the shower were broken. I know of other apartments which were in far worse condition. In contrast, some furniture and appliances appeared to be near new. Clearly efforts are being made to improve facilities, but they should not be rented out until works are complete. In addition support requests for more toilet paper was not responded to in over 12 hours and required following up, more kitchen utensils would have been appreciated (such as an egg flip and oven trays), and better communication would be recommended for short term hotel rental regarding the use of common areas, how best to sign in to wifi, etc.
- Amanda (1/5): Disappointed, dissatisfied, mislead . - Nothing. I stayed 1 night only( which your company are aware of) Everything except the staff. The advertising was completely misleading. I required a functional kitchen for medical purposes. The “kitchen “ was completely inadequate.
The property was under renovation, with floors ripped up, glue on raw floor surfaces, stairwell also under renovation with loose carpet, trip hazards everywhere. The lift worked intermittently.
. The area felt unsafe and the streets were full of litter.
This was ment to be a perfect, community shared accommodation experience for myself on a tight budget. The website offered pictures and descriptions of a property that were completely misrepresentative of the actual accommodation.
To say I am upset, dissatisfied and disappointed is a complete understatement. I needed to relocate which was a very costly exercise due to the lack of lead time and no opportunity to research .
The only redeeming feature of the property was the helpful staff.
Bookings.com I look forward to hearing form you promptly as I am out of pocket and good humour.
- Sharon (8/5): Very good - The staff were very helpful and welcoming, especially Laurence, who went out of his way to answer any questions or inquiries. The room was really spacious and very clean. No blind or curtain
- Dublinscot (3/5): Poor -
- Lynette (5/5): It was as ok for value. - It was very clean and had everything
you needed. You could feel the bed springs really badly in the mattress.
- Delphine (5/5): Passable -
- Sujan (7/5): Good - Comfortable I was informed that fans would be provided during check-in, however, when I approached the reception to request a fan, I was not given one.
- Robert (1/5): Atrocious - Tommy Rest
- Sonya (5/5): Just what I needed. - It was cheap and cheerful. I couldn't have expected more for the value.
Ideal for what I needed as I was staying in the city for work.
Friendly environment and friendly staff. I had a problem free stay. The shared kitchen wasn't very clean.
The bins had not been emptied and I didn't expect this to be my responsibility.
There was no crockery and/or cutlery for guests to use. So I had to go down to reception who loaned me some.
- Gunvant (10/5): Exceptional -
- Samuel (8/5): Very good -
- Emad (9/5): Superb -
- Pakzadian (8/5): Very good -
- Joel (10/5): Exceptional -
- Marcus (9/5): Superb -
- Jakob (2/5): Erschreckender Aufenthalt. - Place was ok 👌🏻 A Chinese with the audacity invaded my occupied room Unbelievable, but I hope karma gets him.
- Mohammed (8/5): Very good - Location and price Lack of fresh air in room and corridor
- Ali (5/5): Passable -
- Jenny (10/5): It was a great stay. Facilities are good. - Location is very accessible. Receptionist are very helpful. None
- Omotayo (6/5): Pleasant - The quality of cleaning. I found a wrap of chips under the bed. I also had to wipe the tables and chair because they were dusty. The bathroom stank due to lack of use upon opening it. It would have been better if it was rewashed at least a day before my arrival.
- Victory (7/5): Good - The serene and peaceful environment Every thing was fair
- Anonymous (5/5): Passable -
- Hubert (8/5): Very good -
- Shawano (8/5): Good - Good for value
Fair facilities Could have been cleaner
- Mohammed (8/5): Very good - Security and safe place to stay. The location is central and rooms are clean Lack of fresh air going through the corridor and kitchen
- Alex (6/5): After it's fixed it's a nice place to staym - I liked the staff very understanding. There was no lock in the room so I kept waking up whenever I heard a noise thinking someone was trying to go in. And the bed felt like the mattress spring is starting to go bad so I'm recommending you to check the mattress just as if it comes out and someone gets hurt it won't be good. As it is a hazard. Also the table in F1201 kitchen is broken when I leaned on it I almost fell. To the Staff please check the rooms and kitchen safety at least once a year or when you're informed of a problem.
- Iman (9/5): Comfortable - Best location and nice comfy rooms for single travelers. please open it for every one not just students, as some people are visiting for a few days, for exams only, they don't have a student status.
- Michael (8/5): Very good - Small single rooms with private shower and toilet (no air conditioning). Kitchen with stove, oven, and fridge. Cutlery and cooking equipment provided in room. Good for solo travellers. Tiny bit out if town centre, but not too far (10 -15 min).
- Ben (7/5): Good -
- Ngozi (10/5): Exceptional -
- Scott (9/5): Superb -
- Frank (7/5): Was nt bad but no cooking utensils in kitchen no bin in room or kettle - Near to shop and food outlets and transport Lots of noise from outside
- James (9/5): Superb - Good value, clean, easy check-in All pretty basic but fine overall
- Filippa (7/5): Good -
- Mohammed (8/5): Good short stay - Very good price, rooms are basically for students. Reminded me of my old days when I was at university. Safe place to stay and walking distance to city Lack of ventilation in the room and corridor. No mini fridge.
- Anonymous (6/5): Too slow in getting back to message’s would have stayed longer -
- Lahiru (10/5): It's a marvelous trip - It's super and comfortable property N/A
- Dov (10/5): Cozy, simple, great value for money - The place was cozy and great value for money. Comfy bed. Friendly staff. Check in and check was smooth as there is always someone at the reception 24/7. That I needed to upload my Government ID twice before the online check in
- Newton (5/5): adequate but barely - I had my own bathroom and shower When I got to my room the linens and towels were still from the last guest
Due the fact that i had a late arrival and checked in at 9:30pm and check in stops at 10pm there wasn’t anything I could do about
Plus I was woken up 2 separate times to be asked if I was checking out or not
Communication seems to be lacking and just kinda blah
- Marcus (8/5): Very good -
- Nexus (10/5): Good times in hometown - The security , privacy and comfortbility. The window views and noise outside but that couldn't be helped.
- Anonymous (7/5): Good -
- Lre (8/5): Very good -
- Andrea (8/5): Very good -
- Abdallah (10/5): Exceptional -
- Louisa (2/5): The smell of the room was not pleasant, dusty and not so cleaned. Too expensive - The smell of the room.
- Tracey (7/5): Was ok for cheap stay! A big thank you to the night team when we had a problem with my son -
