Guest Reviews
- david (10/5): Comfortable and restful.wasn’t happy about having to pay a extra £200 pound before we could have the access code for key - Clean and well situated and nice hot tub
- LVKnight (10/5): -
- Michelle (8/5): -
- Ronnie (10/5): - Sitting on the decking watching the wildlife. Peaceful surroundings. Very Comfortable and clean caravan. Hot tub was lovely N/a
- catarina (10/5): Incredible! Lovely place to relax even if it’s for a few days - Lovely location and very clean! Nothing was amazing
- Vicky (8/5): Lovely, nice and peaceful stay! - Modern Lodge in a lovely location! Hot tub was very warm and private! There is no cover over the hot tub so you’re restricted from using weather dependant. I’d definitely recommend you get a replacement like what’s advertised in the pictures.
- Steven (9/5): - We liked the hot tub and the view around the area, a nice place to walk our dogs. The inside looked nice as well. The hot tub didn't have a canopy as in the pictures, which would have allowed us to still use it when it was raining. Didn't like that we had to pay a security deposit on top of our stay but it was refunded the day after we left.
- Donna (5/5): - Was quiet and had a hot tub It was a caravan not a lodge. It was a windy and rainy weekend, there was no cover for the hot tub as shown in pictures nor was there outdoor lighting. The caravan was dated but had the basics.
- Vicki (5/5): Great location to explore beautiful Northumberland. - Location is great, short drive to the beautiful beaches Northumberland has to offer.
The Lodge it self, nice, clean and after reading some the reviews the host has taken note and stocked it with more utensils, tea, coffee etc.
The master bed is big for the space and it was shuffle round it, door didn't open properly on ensuit and wardrobes because of it. Personal the lodge doesn't really require 2 bathroom, could do away with ensuite and extend master bedroom!
Was looking forward to using the hottub, but it had an issue, so contact host straight away who tried there best to fix it during our stay but reason out there control it needed new part which didn't arrive until day we were leaving. Good communication from them through out and offer of a good will refund made. Agree with alit the comments matress on master bed little uncomfortable but manged for 3 days we were there.
The sofa is rather large for the room and bit hard to sit on. But it was all nicely decorated and clean. Lodge did show bit of wear and tear due to age and could do with little TLC in places but it didn't effect our stay. It was just base forces whilst we explored the area.

- Kim (7/5): Would not return - Hot tub was lovely.Bed really comfortable. Shower soap tray was broken, exposing a sharp edge. Staples sticking out of wall behind top of couch .Not much room around the bed. Really out the way of shops.Greasy tins above cooker.Photos need updating. There was no cover over jacuzzi. Outdoor Furniture and veranda covered in mould and moss . Floor /door strip was trip hazard.
- Kellie (1/5): Disgusting and Filthy - Nothing Please don't book this lodge.
We booked as a family of 4. When we arrived I noticed a smell as I walked in but opened the windows and got on with things.
On further inspection the place was filthy!
There was a hole in the door, which my 10 year old said made her feel unsafe.
There was thick dust on the shelves, tape round the windows. The outside furniture was rotton. The towels which we laid out on the bed for us absolutely stunk of deep fat fryers.
We lasted 90mins in there and unfortunately had to come home.
I do have more pictures but can't only upload these.
I have tried reaching out to the owners for a refund but obviously this hasn't worked out.
Bookin.com are involved and have offered a £20 credit!
Please please don't book this place. It shouldn't be listed on here.
- gary (8/5): As previous comments - bed comfortable and good value for money A comfortable lodge which we enjoyed are stay , but it could do with some TLC
- Jamie (1/5): You dont get what you think you have booked thats for sure - Nothing at all, WOW what a state!!! We got asked for a damage deposit the day we were going to the lodge which is fine, then we go there and couldnt beleave they actually asked for a deposit! There was holes in the walls and doors, coffee stains on the bench, gas cooker knobs just spins. Front door doesnt shut properly neither does any of the windows which 1 of them had been taped with brown parcel tape at some point.the cleaning of the place was shocking!! Still hair, dust and rubbish in the corner!! Hot tub not working/cold!! Not canopy over hot tub like pics show, outdoor furniture was green and awful. Needless to say we did not stay and reported it straight away! Then to be ignored for hours when notified the owners so had to go through booking to get a refund! DEFO WOULD NOT RECOMMEND
- Stacey (10/5): Highly recommend - Our second time staying here and it didn’t dissapoint. Great lodge with a modern homely feel. Had everything that we needed, good location on the site and the hot tub was great too. Will once again be returning Nothing
- Wendy (4/5): -
- Laura (8/5): Faboulous nice lodge - We loved the hot tub and it was covered as well which is a good idea as you can use it even when the weathers not too good. We also loved the decking area which was nice to sit outside on. The bedroom was a bit small and kept whacking nose off the wall, think a three quarter bed would fit better.
- Valerie (5/5): It was a static caravan not a lodge! We paid for 5 you catered for 4 -
- Michael (5/5): Average - Outdoor space was great Needs some updating, cooker wasn’t fully functioning, only had 2 forks for a family of 4, was dirty sweet wrappers left under the table from last guest, water frozen on last morning so couldn’t shower of clean.
- Stacey (10/5): Looking forward to being back - Great lodge and facilities. Already booked to return next month Cannot fault it
- Hannah (4/5): Good location, poor facilities - Location was good and easy to find, exact location on site was also good The hot tub was green and the owner did not respond. Booking.com were no help either, so we effectively paid over the odds for a caravan.
- Michael (10/5): - We had a lovely 2-night stay at Bockenfield Park Country Lodge in Felton. The lodge was spotless, cosy, and had everything we needed for a relaxing break. The hot tub was a real highlight . The location is peaceful and easy to get to, with plenty of nice walks and pubs nearby. Communication with the host was smooth and friendly throughout. Would definitely recommend and stay again!
- Ian (2/5): Okay to rubbish, lodge is very tired with nesecary to no facilities, unless you want tk soend all yo - Lodge is in a bit of a state, very small, various holes in walls, cutlery and crockery to a minimum, literally 2 forks in drawer, couple of large plates, and 2 plastic baby plates, exit sign has been moved to cover up a large crack in wall, outside furniture, cushions full of green mould, looks like tv,s in bedrooms have been removed, roller blind in en suite does not work, curtains in all rooms are ill fitting, wallpaper and interior trimming peeling, to charge £160 a night for 2 adults and 2 dogs, in November, literally booking it 1 day in advance, abdolute disgrace, do not bother, we have stayed at others in bockenfield that were a lot better and a lot cheaper. My opinion..for £160 a night I can get 4 star treatment at a very good hotel. Dong bothet
- Jonathan (8/5): -
- Clive Hemingway (4/5): Disappointing "Lodge" (caravan) - Beds comfortable
Heating, good if the thermostat was kept up to date. First morning, freezing as the thermostat wasn't at the right year, the right date, or the right time.
The TV didn't work, although a maintenance man did arrive to sort out.
There were no instructions for the hot tub.
There was no information as to what and where any rubbish bags were to be binned.
There were no recommendations for restaurants, bars, pubs etc.
There was a build up of dust on all high level surfaces.
The cooker needs looking at, as some of the control knobs are hanging loose.
And last but not least, that the accommodation was listed as "a lodge", where in fact it was a glorified caravan.
Not happy with the accommodation being misrepresented and therefore
miss sold.
I am therefore looking for some form of reimbursement.
- Lily (10/5): Relaxing and romantic - Everything was perfect I don’t know what the bad reviews were about !
We really enjoyed our stay and will be coming back the place itself is spectacular very clean and tidy and lots of cutlery and crockery to cater for a whole family !
The hot tub was always a lively temperature and you can tell the place is well looked after.
Thank you for having us we will be back
- Andrea (4/5): Management of the lodge needs a lot more attention, daily hot tub checks like almost all of the cabins have apart from t - The site is a lovely site with a great pub also! We live local n love comming to stay on this site We arrived and hot tub was at 46 degrees, un safely temp and also jets wouldn’t come on. Messaged host to see if it was because of the heat and got very little within response just a video of someone who set the hot tub up prior to us arriving which was no help. We then got sent a manual to the heat pump at back of hot tub so we got left to read that and managed to get the jets on our selfs as no one was sent out. Next day hot tub is now not heating over 33.5. Host then saying someone’s been pressing buttons? Of course because no one came out who actually knew what they were doing. Host said never had problems with hot tub but when I went on the reviews they all are mostly about the hot tub 🙃 won’t be booking this lodge again. Over all cleaness of the cabin is okish… oven had trays with crumbs all over, draws had crumbs in. We finally received our £200 deposit back after many times asking although it was later than they said it would be. Beautiful site but this lodge needs a lot more attention given to it within management
- Eve (9/5): Nice relaxing break away from the hustle of life. - Lovely lodge and hot tub very comfortable and enough living space to meet our needs. The place could benefit from a small investment in some crockery, cups and glass wear. A mirror in the smaller room would also be great.
- Leanne (10/5): - Beautiful lodge, spotless, great location.
- Julie (1/5): DO NOT BOOK LODGE OR RISK NOT RECEIVING £200 DEPOSIT BACK WITHOUT REASON - The only positive I would like to flag is the location is nice, but please book another lodge in this holiday park, DO NOT BOOK THIS LODGE. DO NOT BOOK THIS ACCOMMODATION.
We checked out over 2 weeks ago and still have not received our deposit back without any reason. I even cleaned the property before checking out, really wish I didn't bother. The host has stopped replying to messages. The last reply from the host was on Wednesday the 13th of August where they communicated that the deposit would be transferred on Saturday the 15th. I asked if this could be transferred sooner considering we had been checked out over a week at this point but they ignored my message. Saturday has been and gone and still nothing has been transferred and the host continues to ignore my messages.
Please also note that this has happened to another customer who checked in after us as per the reviews page.
Aside from this stress, the lodge really isn't anything special, it is grimy and is in desperate need of some TLC. You will find this in other reviews. The host is also not very friendly and clearly does not care about their customers.
- Angela Grant (9/5): - Lovely location and excellent outside area and furniture.
Nicely kitted out inside. Could do with a table and chairs either inside or out. Mattresses could do with being replaced. Would benefit from having salt and pepper, washing up liquid and kitchen roll. Sofa needs cleaned.
- Deb (9/5): Nice, modern lodge with hot tub - The accommodation was extremely clean and modern. The sofa was very comfortable and kitchen had oven, microwave, toaster, fridge freezer and full size dishwasher. The bedrooms were a good size, we only used one and the bathrooms were modern and clean. We visited The Crazy Saloon for drinks, there is a small shop onsite with essentials. The hot tub was an added bonus, good temperature and clean. The bed was soft, but still comfortable.
- Lisa (7/5): - I thought it was ok value for money. Got a good deal for a 2 night stay in the 6 weeks. Site is amazing and park was great for kids. Lodge itself is in a nice location on site not far from the park or crazy horse saloon. Like others have mentioned it needs a little tlc. I didn’t find it too bad or like other users have mentioned as kettle, microwave, fridge etc all good and dishwasher nice touch. The main bed is not comfortable at all. Hot tub area and decking nice in the sunshine.
- Pamela (6/5): Enjoyed trip but wouldn’t stay again - On the whole I feel this place would be lovely with a bit of tlc.
It really has become pretty tatty.
Leak under sink.
Cutlery, crockery and glasses dirty and like from a charity shop.
Masking tape over bathroom window.
Garden furniture needing replaced. Looks like been left out all winter, mouldy and damaged.
Despite giving notice of arrival hot tub freezing and not usable until the next day.
Communication from owners very unfriendly.
With just a little care and finishing touches would make the place more comfortable with a luxurious feel.
- Christine (6/5): Loved the location and the very friendly bar, would not return to the property. - Location was lovely for a quiet stay. We weren’t aware that there was only one bar between two sites open was advertised as a bar on bockenfield. The property had a large private balcony. I’m truly not that person however I would not book this property if you are looking for a romantic get away or a family break tbh. There isn’t enough crockery to cater for a family and it’s all bits and pieces so if you were going to try a romantic setting you would be goosed?! Especially if you were planning on setting a table as there isn’t one in the property or on the decking? Food on knees is the crack. The bed felt like it was going cave in every time I went to cuddle my husband I know this as I woke with the noise every time he attempted to make his way around to go to the loo down his tiny bit of space. Don’t use the second bathroom for a shower as there is no working blind. The furnishings are a bit tired to say the least inside and out with mould stains and just general stains. Due to the location I think it would benefit from a welcome pack as most places do these days, explaining silly things like WiFi , where to get supplies, takeaway, or general eat out. There was literally nothing supplied in the property to maintain it which I have never know (I like to clean up after myself) no dishcloths, washing up liquid etc? Could be fantastic however seriously needs a refresh. It has took over a week to get our £200 deposit back due to us not forwarding our bank details which tbh due to the site and the fact I paid the deposit through my bank thus should have been a simple transaction? We had a brilliant time due to the actual site and the bar and facilities, and each others company lol however would not return to this property feel like it’s more for younger groups 🤷🏼♀️
- Tezla (10/5): Exceptional -
- Anne (9/5): Great Stay - Fab lodge great value for money with a great Hot Tub area/ sitting area. Had some issues with the Hot Tub itself. The first night it was unbearably hot and on the second night it was cold so never really got any use of it. We did contact the host and in all fairness he replied straight away with the instructions but we were still unable to figure out the problem. A Guest information pack would have been good and they might also want to consider some plastic glasses for the outdoor area.
- Michael (10/5): Exceptional - Amazing Stay in a Beautiful Lodge. We had an amazing time at Bockenfield Park Country Lodge. The lodge was spotless, cozy, and the hot tub was a perfect touch—great for relaxing after a day out. Peaceful setting and not far from York. Would definitely return!
- Ian (10/5): Ok - Höttub didn’t work on arrival but within a hour some one was out. No tea/coffe or sugar so I’d take that in mind.
