- Heather (9/5): Excellent hotel for La Punta Puerto Escondido - Awesome place for a couple. 5 mins walk from La punta with beach and lots of bars/restaurants
Comfortable bed and facilities
Would go back
Welcome cocktail was delicious
Most luxurious bathroom with giant plants Due to Puerto Escondido growing construction noises could be heard on occasion but not too early or late
We booked the private pool room which was lovely but it could have been cleaner or maybe have a net that can be used throughout the day by the guests.

- David (10/5): An exceptional boutique hotel in a great location with lovely staff. - The location is ideal- away from the noisy main street but within easy walking distance of the beach and restaurants. The hotel is spotlessly clean and very comfortable. Our room had a quiet and efficient air conditioner so it was easy to sleep at night. The staff were very friendly and Eric in particular. He fixed breakfast for us each of the 8 days we were staying and the fruit bowl was delicious and very good value. There was no information pack in the room but we soon figured out everything that we needed to know.
- Naemi (10/5): - Casa Umi is a beautiful boutique hotel in La Punta, walkable distance to the beach and restaurants, but still quiet located and perfect to relax. The hotel and rooms have a beautiful clean design, perfect to also just enjoy the day at the pool.
Eigenlijk niks!
- Ian (9/5): A few kinks to work out but would recommend staying. 8/10. - The pool needs some TLC. It was a bit cloudy and there was a light in the pool that needed repair (exposed wiring). Other than that the hotel was pretty amazing. The location was ideal (5 min walking to the hustle and bustle of town but far enough away that it was quiet and relaxing). The staff was super friendly and accommodating (they also make a delicious iced americano). The property is new and has been updated and furnished nicely. Could use some pool TLC and some furniture on the outdoor balconies. Also the hot water in our shower was a bit wonky. All and all was a good stay and would stay again.
- Ruben (10/5): - Jesus and Eric being super helpful with anything. Beautiful property and close to the beach however no noise from the bars. Perfect location we’ll come again. In one room the a/c broke. The solution was an upgrade to a better room. Thanks 👍
- Ruben (10/5): - Really enjoyed our stay, especially Jesus and Eric made our stay very pleasant! Thanks guys!
Location is perfect few minutes walk to the beach and still super quiet at night!

- Camille (10/5): Our new favorite spot - The staff was amazing!! So warm so welcoming. The room was so comfy I didn’t want to leave. The whole property was peaceful, close to everything and very very clean. I loved it all.

- Alia (10/5): -
- Luise (10/5): - Very stylish place, central location in La Punta while still being cozy and quiet.
All staff was very friendly and helpful.
We enjoyed our stay at Casa Umi a lot! Breakfast is only available from 9 a.m., which was a bit late for us. On one day of our stay, when we ordered breakfast, it took at least 45 minutes for our food to arrive, even though we were the only guests there.
This could be improved, but it’s a very minor point in an otherwise perfect stay!
- Armando (8/5): Very good - Clean and good design No TV
- Sergio (10/5): Gran lugar para disfrutar puerto escondido - Todo el personal es muy amable, te hacen sentir en casa.
La habitación está impecable, cama nueva y muy confortable.
Ubicación maravillosa. Pocos camastros
- Daniel (10/5): Feels like home - The staff were amazing and so helpful!
The room is beautiful and comfortable for sleeping
Everything was super clean.
Location is amazing , very close to the main road Nothing!!

- Hannanzanzuri (10/5): Magnificent stay at Casa Umi, a new cool place to stay, - I had the opportunity to stay at Casa Umi a couple of years ago, and this time, I was positively surprised by the renovation and refurbishment the hotel has gone true; the deluxe room I stayed at was amazing, Good size, with a small sitting area, great space for computer and desk, beautifully decorated, and very comfortable beds and sumptuous linen, the double seal doors and windows allowed me to sleep without any external noise,
I recommend this hotel. Levi, the manager, was valuable with local recommendations; thank you. All was good
- Katherine (1/5): No power, no air-con, no water, broken lock -- worst stay ever - Very little unfortunately. This place is not habitable. But at least they gave us a full refund without much fuss.
I do feel sorry for the two staff who were very apologetic -- I suspect that the various Casa Umi issues are outside of their control, and they have to deal with unhappy guests all the time. I hope the owners of Casa Umi recognise how hard it is for their staff to deal with these problems. Upon arrival we were told there'd been a power cut to the local area and as a result the aircon wasn't working (but the ceiling fan was, thanks to a back-up generator). The room's temperature was 30 degrees so the fan was just pushing hot air around -- it was unbearable, and as no staff is on site (it's essentially an Airbnb), there was no-one able to help source a deskfan. We ended up phoning around local hotels and were told the power was only out at Casa Umi -- and everywhere else had working aircon, so we packed a bag and moved elsewhere for the night to ensure sleep.
Returned the next day where the housekeeper said this happens often and isn't a local area power issue, it only affects certain rooms. Thankfully Caicos (a smaller room) was available that day and had power, so she moved us there. That afternoon we tried leaving the room and the lock on the door broke off (it was obvious it had been repaired poorly, we could see a piece of scrap metal had been affixed), so we were locked in and couldn't leave the room. Guests walked past and helped open the door, so we were able to get out, but felt unsafe leaving the complex as the lock was broken and our belongings could've easily been taken. Casa Umi staff stopped responding to our WhatsApps asking for help. (Again, no-one was on site.)
That night at 2am the power cut out at Casa Umi again -- this time affecting the water as well as the aircon. It was instantly unbearable, 30+ degrees, we were suffocating. Somehow managed to stick it out until the morning, when we spoke to other guests who hadn't had any aircon or power in three nights.
We were furious -- no water for drinking, showering or flushing the toilet. We moved for good to another hotel and when we finally heard from Casa Umi staff, they confirmed we would get a full refund which was paid via PayPal over a week later.
Added to this, the pool is filthy dirty and no-one swam all weekend.
- Erick (8/5): Very good -
- Marielle (10/5): 10/10 - everything nothing
- Marielle (10/5): love love love! not enough good things to say about Casa Umi - LOVE this place - I stayed here for the first part of my trip, then switched hotels - and I loved it so much that I ended up coming back! the staff are seriously soooo incredibly nice and friendly and welcoming.
beds are super comfy too. rooms are spacious and it feels very luxe, at very reasonable price.
amazing location in La Punta as well the pool wasn’t really maintained well while i was there (but I noticed on the day I left it was being cleaned)
- Melanie (10/5): A slice of heaven - Gorgeous, well decorated, large and comfortable room, balcony views out to the sea and we could see the sunset from our bedroom! all the facilities were excellent and the staff were super accommodating and went out of their way to support us in every way possible! would 100% stay here again. Honestly, I have 0 complaints. It was perfect!
- Vaidotas (7/5): Good -
- Odalis (8/5): Very good -
- Natalie (7/5): luxe stylish rooms, perfect location - Perfect location and stylish. One of the best in the area for sure. staff very sweet. spotlessly clean. locks on doors didnt work well. No facilities, no water in room etc.
- Patricio (1/5): worst money for value in puerto - the rooms and nice arquitectura (not practice and no where to relax in the day) the worst service by the “host” they never answered the phone, there’s no one at the property if you need help and if there’s water (there wasn’t wen we arrived) it’s very dirty.
- Max (8/5): Amazing stay at beautiful villa - We stayed in Villa Bichi which was a unique and beautiful property. Great location. Excellent service from reception staff. Short walk from the beach and restaurants/bars. The cleaning service could have been more thorough as it didn’t seem like they had swept the floor which is helpful for a sandy beach holiday. The pool pump is on a timer and I think earlier in the day would be better.
- Carolina (9/5): Superb - The location for Casa Umi is GREAT, it's easily accesible, walking distance from the beach and everything that is going but also apart enough that it's quiet. The pool is a great way to escape the heat and beach. The pillows and bed linens were not great, they just give you a top sheet but since it's quite warm it's not a problem. The facilities are basic but comfortable
- Georgina (7/5): Good - architecture and comfortable rooms pool needed to be cleaned we didn’t swim in it
- Juan (5/5): would not come back - the staff wasn’t attentive at all. there was no warm water and the bath fan was pretty dirty. very small bed for room proportion.
- Hernandez (3/5): Poor -
- Thomas (10/5): Exceptional - Perfect stay and very helpfull staff! mucho gracias!
- Bradley (7/5): Nice, great location and comfy but a bit overpriced compared to other options with similar amenities - Great location! very comfy beds! stayed in the villas on back of hotel so good cooking facilities and blender for smoothies if needed, was nice for breakfast, very spacious, great views (although obstructed by mosquito net), air conditioning and fan combo ensures it’s easy to sleep and cool down villa as needed. Staff friendly and help with organizing trips etc. with ease and also very receptive with any questions via WhatsApp. There’s isn’t always someone at the hotel and was no one there when we wanted to check out which ended up cutting out last trip to the beach short by a half hour so that wasn’t ideal.
Our only problem in that regard. overall the hotel’s accessibility should be showcased more or flagged as it isn’t ideal for getting to up a short steep uneven dirt track, would avoid if uncertain on feet or with kids.
Pool doesn’t get a lot of sunshine which helps keep the rooms private from Main Street but if you plan to sunbath by pool I wouldn’t recommend this pool. There’s also a tree above the pool and the pool was quite dirty on the couple of times we went for a quick dip.
- Assia (6/5): great location but overpriced for the offering and value received - excellent location, friendly staff, aesthetically pleasing unreliable and weak internet, hot water was limited and ran out, ants in the room
- Mai (6/5): Pleasant -
- Frida (10/5): Exceptional -
- Roberto (3/5): Poor -
- Hanna (6/5): Pleasant -
- Melanie (5/5): Disappointing and unswimmable pool, but great location. - The location is great, just outside of the busy area of Punta Zicatela. The rooms are very nice, huge bed and spacious place and nice minimalist hotel approach. The first big disappointment was the pool. It was full of leaves and looked green and murky. I definitely didn't look swimmable and I never saw anyone get in it. I was looking forward to a morning swim and it just didn't look inviting. I told the receptionist about this but he said it was normal... Secondly, the keys to the doors were such a pain. All the guests were struggling with them. When I finally got assistance from the receptionist (who is only there a few hours a day), and he showed me the trick to using the key, it was then easier to open the door. The wifi was also cutting out constantly (you would not be able to work here reliably). We also had ants climbing up our wall above our bed which the receptionist took care of. Just wish there was someone there taking better care of the facilities.
- Pedro (7/5): Could be better, but satisfies the basics - Great location, near the restaurants, but without noise. Helpfull when they were there. Clean rooms with good space. Good scooter renting service. Rarely someone from the hotel was there, so that complicated everytime you wanted something Also the Wi-Fi was really really bad all the time wich made complicated to do reservations, check ins, even whatsapp was Hard to get to work... No hair dryer
- Alex (3/5): Poor -
- Victoria (10/5): Exceptional -
- Rubén (8/5): Amazing stay in Punta Zicatela - Beautiful and modern design, excellent location Could include coffee or breakfast at morning
- Francisco (10/5): Exceptional -
- Harshi (8/5): Very good -
- Harshi (8/5): Very good - The location was convenient and close to great restaurants and bars. The rooms we stayed at were comfortable and all amenities stated were provided. The staff who were managing were excellent and went out of the way to make our stay comfortable.
- Maria (8/5): would definitely recommend for a nice quiet place to stay in La Punta. - the overall design, location and comfort was great! the bed was big and comfortable and everything was very clean. towels didn’t get changed everyday but they can change them for you if you ask them to
- Pablo (7/5): Good - Design, facilities, close to the beach Bad wifi, cold shower, cold pool. Quite expensive for what they offer.
- Lina (4/5): Disappointing -
- Pablo (9/5): Superb -
- Camila (8/5): Very good -
- Rolando (9/5): Superb -
- Guillaume (2/5): bad location, a dog barking over the night. impossible to sleep well and no solution fond by the owner. - good question, nothing ? the location doesn’t seem that 120m2, we have a neighbor dog barking over the night close to the door. it’s impossible to sleep. the kitchen is not well equipped. the swimming pool is in the shade.
- Pamela (7/5): Good -
- Chelsea (9/5): Luxurious, peaceful, a wonderful place to celebrate my birthday. - What a gorgeous and architecturally considered accomodation. We loved that Casa Umi was a little bit off of the main area which meant it was quiet. The room was lovely, private (we had a big tree giving us shade and privacy from the patio), and I appreciated the big bathroom and seating area. The bed was particularly comfortable (I like a firm bed)! We loved having access to a kitchen and made our own breakfast most days - there were common supplies and various appliances like a blender and a fridge to keep things in. You can rent great scooters from Casa Umi too and we did this for our entire stay. The staff was absolutely fantastic and not only helpful with arranging taxi's, helping us with getting a short flight arranged, and anything to do with our room, but we also had great conversations about life, culture, and Dia de los Muertos traditions that helped us to understand things more deeply. The staff even put up balloons and well wishes for me in the room on my birthday; it was so thoughtful and kind. We have no complaints about our stay (which was for 8 nights at Casa Umi.) It was a wonderful place to celebrate my birthday and a great place for couples.
- Martha (6/5): Pleasant -
- Asia (9/5): Overall I had a great time at Casa Umi and I’d stay there again. - I am a solo female traveler and safety was my top concern. Casa Umi has a main front door that only residents and staff have the key to as well as a different key to lock your individual room. It was walking distance to everything I wanted to do, the beach, restaurants, shops and other activities. Daniel was very helpful during my stay. The wifi was spotty so I had to switch between that and using my data. Not a huge deal given the area. I would’ve liked if the room had a tv. It would’ve been interesting to see what shows in Mexico are like. I also would’ve liked a complimentary breakfast, nothing extravagant just some local fruit or something. Although this didn’t bother me but I had a couple of lizards be roommates with me during my stay. Same thing happens in Florida so I’m used to that but I could see how that might bother others. It’s also noisy at night with dogs barking and roosters but again didn’t bother me because I’m used to that as well.
- Peter (8/5): Very good - Very nice modern rooms. Super friends staff and host. Missing safe in the suite and road to the hotel is very bad.
- Emma (10/5): Exceptional -
- Oscar (9/5): Superb -
- Gaia (10/5): Exceptional -
- Natalia (10/5): Exceptional -
- Jocelyn (8/5): Very good - it’s was very spacious and clean. the staff was very friendly and helpful issues with the shower takes ages to get hot water, pool it’s not heated and the bed the minute you move the minute makes noises lol
- David (4/5): good location, slightly overpriced for what you get. - location was good. the room had no windows except for the door to enter the bedroom.
because of this it was very dark.
quite expensive for what you get.
checkout was at 12:00 at exactly 12:00 I got a message on WhatsApp from the staff to remind me that it was time to check out.
the cleaning lady was standing outside of the door since 11:15 to show us she was waiting (while she clearly saw us packing).
- Elnaz (8/5): Very good - very comfortable bed and room! also a big bathroom with nice shower.
- Anonymous (10/5): Exceptional -
- Carlos (10/5): Exceptional - awesome staff, very friendly and professional.
