Guest Reviews
- Stevie (10/5): Lovely cottage, would highly recommend - Beautiful cottage with lots of character. Communication with the host was great too.
- Jessica (10/5): Beautiful comfortable and homely perfect for families - Cottage was very comfortable and cosy. Everything you need is there. Beautiful garden space.
- Carolyn (1/5): The weekend was spoilt by the horrible start, the health issues and the continued lack of understanding of the managemen - Although it was on a main road, it was quite quiet. The beds were comfortable. Simple, easy to use heating and hot water system. The property had not been cleaned when we arrived and was absolutely filthy. After a phone call to the management company which was not local, cleaners arrived and did a reasonable job in quite a short time, whilst four of us waited in the one room that was clean, as the previous occupants had not used it. The cleaners asked if we wanted to go out while they cleaned but after a 5 hour journey we definitely did not want to do that. Despite the place being cleaned and sorted in an hour, it was a disappointing start to our weekend.
The oven was faulty, there were no oven
gloves or dishwasher tablets, the front doorstep was broken and quite dangerous, the door lock was difficult to lock and unlock and the garden was overlooked by the adjoining property. When we reported the kitchen problems to the management company, they annoyingly suggested we watch the videos of how to work the oven and have a good look for missing items - comments which we found extremely condescending and unhelpful. I had watched all their videos during our 5 hour journey to the property and although they were straightforward, they were poor quality recordings. Watching these was clearly not going to make a broken oven work. They asked us to send videos of all the issues, which we did but as far as we were concerned this was not our job.
On our way home, I contacted the company and asked for a refund of the first night of our stay and after several emails, I was informed that my request had been escalated to the ‘finance team’. I chased this up once but have had no further contact from the company. At a minimum, I would have expected some kind of compensation for our inconvenience on the day of our arrival but we have received nothing and have no indication that will change.
In addition to all this, the cottage advertises itself as being pet and child free. This is definitely not the case. The property has children’s equipment and animal bowls etc in the cupboards.

- Janice (10/5): Very comfortable two night stay, thank you! - Immaculately presented characterful cottage. We were attending a family wedding at nearby Braxted Park so the property was perfect for a two night stay. We struggled a little to locate the cottage from the road. You have to back out into the road as it’s too narrow to turn around.

- Rena (5/5): Had we had hot water it would have been a lot better. - the instructions for basic and essential facilities such as how to boost the hot water should not have been lost in a myriad of other instructions on long winded email paths. It should have been highlighted from the start together with where to find the key.
- Lynn (3/5): Very disappointed with the situation also the owners and cleaning company didn’t really care. - I stayed in this cottage in June and it was excellent and I returned last week in July…..I arrived 30 minutes before booking in Time which was 3.00.
On entering the property it had not been cleaned after the last occupants who left at 10.00 in The morning…I made a phone call and the cleaners came 20 minutes later after they left I had no bath towels to use just one hand towel.
Very disappointed with the whole situation.
- Lynn (10/5): Lovely everything you could wish for and more besides. - Everything That there was no paperwork about putting on the hot water which is a necessity.
- Ryan (10/5): My stay at this charming period cottage retreat was nothing short of delightful. From the moment I stepped inside, I was -
