Guest Reviews
- Alison (9/5): Quirky little gem - Quirky, comfy, clean with some lovely little extra touches. Loved it being on 3 levels as really suited our needs. Couldn't wish for a better location, helpful owner/agent. Front door lock a bit sticky.

- Caroline (4/5): Brighton Stay At Retro Waves - Good location near everything we wanted to visit in Brighton The property has been very cleverly photographed, it appears much larger and a bit more stylish in the pictures. That said the property is quite quirky; set on three floors, it is a very narrow but it manages to house the amenities within the space. The stairs are quite steep so that would definitely need to be kept in mind for anyone with mobility issues or indeed people with small children.
The location is great and this would have been an excellent place to stay if it weren't for one really important key issue: the property is incredibly noisy at night time and indeed throughout the night! Although the property is set back from the road, it has an infamous alleyway which runs from the front door all down the side. The alleyway is used as a cut through where people walk past and many use it as a toilet on their way through. During the day this of course isn't an issue but during the night the noise is so bad it sounds as if the passers by are inside the property with you!
I slept in the "second bedroom", which is a sofa bed in the room which the front door opens into. I assumed this was the noisiest room but because the place is so narrow the noise carries so all of us had disturbed nights.
This was especially frustrating as the house rules say;
"As noted, we have strict policies regarding noise, ......................
Quite hours from 10pm to 8am"
Because of these rules I didn't expect to be awake all night!
On the first night of our stay I was indeed awake most of the night. Early on the Saturday morning the rubbish is collected and then the alley is washed (essential to clear the strong smell of urine) it sounds as if you are in a washing machine/ car wash the walls must be really thin or maybe the sound echoes from the alley.
On the second night I was so tired I did my absolute best to get some sleep but again was woken up several times.
- Deidre (10/5): Really wonderful stay in a quirky house - The property is an iconic alleyway. Really wonderful place.. central for everything, immaculate inside .. and very quirky Getting into it !
It’s say in information given the lock box for the keys is at the property.. this is not accurate. The lock box is attached to the restaurant front at the corner of the street .
- Abigayle (6/5): Pleasant but needs improvement with cleanliness - The location is fantastic for easy access to great bars and restaurants, beach and pier. The bath in the bedroom is a lovely touch and the apartment has lovely bathrooms and facilities. The bed is very hard and uncomfortable. The accommodation is over 3 floors and the stairs are narrow, steep and winding. This can prove tricky when carrying luggage or rushing. The noise is pretty loud outside in the alley and did disturb my sleep during our stay. Cleanliness wasn't up to my standard, kitchen and bathrooms and beds clean but floors, drawers etc not clean and alot of hairs found in bedroom and living room.
- Gail (2/5): Extremely disappointed! - The location is brilliant. The property hadn’t been cleaned when we arrived. Dirty dishes in the sink, left over food on the counter, inside the oven and nearly all surfaces needed a good clean. We weren’t given the lockbox code until shortly before we arrived even after sending multiple messages the day before. The keys weren’t in the lockbox when we got the code and we had to wait another 2 hours to get them. The description of the property didn’t say that the three rooms are on different floors with steep staircases between them. If you’re fit and healthy fine but if not, you’ll struggle. Definitely will never return!

- Alan (10/5): Very happy to use RW as our base. We will definitely be back again - It was clean, it was comfortable, it was in a perfect location Nothing to dislike. It was beautiful
- Nicola (10/5): Little gem - Best location…. So close to everything. Shops/restaurants/bars/pubs all very close by. 1 minute walk away. The property was clean and comfortable. We would definitely stay again. Could park outside to unload. Car park was a 10 min walk away (for the more reasonably priced one). Nothing.

- john (10/5): Fantastic apartment in a really cool location. Wish we could have stayed longer. - This is just about the coolest place I ever stayed. The location is perfect for a visit to the the Lanes or to the beach and for film buffs or music fans it just happens to be located right upon the site of one of the most famous scenes from the classic rock opera film Quadrophenia. Besides all that, the apartment itself is cool and quirky and tastefully decorated. It also happens to be really comfortable and well equipped. Really sharp throughout and spotlessly clean. Would loved to have stayed longer.
- Elena (8/5): - Very touristic and noisy at night. People are passing by and shouting.
- Tina (10/5): Unique stay in a stylish and quirky house - The apartment - house, really - is perfectly located in a historical lane, minutes from pier and co. We loved the quirky and stylish interior, and the way the hosts had decorated to make the most of the many little spaces and corners it offers. The first and second floor are stunning, and the two bathrooms are lovely. Though in a narrow house, it never felt cramped, and we had all the appliances we could hope for. It truly felt like staying in someone's home, rather than a clinical holiday flat, and this was simply delightful. Would definitely stay again! It did not bother us at all, but the location is fairly noisy at the weekend, because of the echo when people make their way through the lane. A firm step is required for the two sets of stairs, and the ground floor room is entrance and bedroom at the same time. Just something to be aware of if you are thinking of staying with kids, for example.
