• Ajekigbe (9/5): An outstanding property that is safe and welcoming and close to excellent restaurants and attractions - Location, the quality of the amenities and how clean the room was. I’ve stayed in the same room twice now in a space of 2 months. Whilst the room itself is generous and comfortable, there was always a humming sound similar to one coming from a generator that ebbs and flows throughout the night and kept waking me up. That could be toned down.

• cazlin (8/5): Great building and location but slightly disappointing. - 3 John's Townhouse was a lovely building in a perfect location in Leith and a short distance away from Edinburgh City. The room was well decorated and had some lovely touches. The shower was perfect. All of the communal spaces were pristine clean. There aren't any staff on site but you could communicate via WhatsApp and through Booking.com. Staff were helpful and quick to answer. The trip was part of my husband's 70th birthday and the staff kindly left a bottle of prosecco in the room with a card and decorations on the bed. That was a lovely touch and made the trip more special. You can leave your luggage in a separate locker room which really helps before check in and after check out. Unfortunately it took us 20 mins to get the Echo operated lockers to work via the app. It kept logging us out, you couldn't get a signal so kept having to go outside to get a signal to login again. That was really stressful and distracted a bit from actually getting into the room. The room was lovely but smaller than it looked in the photos and at £183 I didn't feel that was value for money considering the lack of staff onsite and no breakfast included. I feel really disappointed saying that as the remote staff and the extra touch were lovely but we stayed at 6 hotels during our trip to Scotland in total and the others were better value. It may be that we are a couple that just like humans on board.

• Ana (2/5): - Stylish, great location,clean. When I place the booking I didnt know it was a room in the basement.Please do not advert it as a room with views. The night we arrive it was very cold so we put the radiators to the max. In the morning they were switched off and rthe room was extremely cold.(General remote control maybe?).The room started to heat up later on so guests have no control of the warmth of the room. The coffee machine didnt work so we couldn't make a proper coffee. We tried to call the numbers provided and we didnt get any answer 35 minutes later we received a message on WhatsApp but no solution to the issue. The fact that we couldn't get hold of any of the numbers provided made us feel a bit concern and exposed thinking of any emergency could have happened. No logistics for a proper remote managed property at all. We paid 185 pounds for a special stay on a very special day and we feel upset and dissappointed.

I like that the rooms had their own different themes. There were plenty of towels as well and the heated towel rack was nice. I liked to pretty much everything so I enjoyed my stay, nothing was bad about the property.

• Glen (8/5): Nice stay in the DUKE room. - Stayed in the DUKE room, not there are multiple rooms in this complex. Nice location in Leith. Probably the best shower we have had on our Europe holiday. Provided coffee capsules and a jug with small fridge. Our room has no windows except for a skylight that looked into neighborhood windows, it also leaked a little bit. But for the price at short notice nothing else was an issue. We had 2 bags and had to move chairs around to fit them in the room.

The room was very clean and the decor was very tasteful. The toiletries in the bathroom were lovely. Our keypad entry worked well but other guests had problems.

The rooms that we rented were quite small, but comfortable. We would definitely stay again. Nothing, but keep note of the texts they send you with important information.

• Hannah (10/5): St Johns is a lovely, warm, well-styled and great value place to stay in Leith. - St Johns is an immaculate and well-styled stay. From the moment you walk in it smells amazing and is really clean without feeling impersonal. The staff were incredibly kind with our early arrival, and dropping off bags was easy. The coffee shop across the way is really nice. The bed was very comfy and the shower products smelled really good. It was a very peaceful place with good vibes. And the pictures don't do it justice-- it's nicer in person!

• Anna (9/5): Beautiful property, cosy and comfortable in a great location - The property was very beautifully done, it was easy to access and surprisingly it was nice bypassing the normal check in process and going straight to our room. The bed was comfy, we had a nice view over the gardens and the location was perfect for us as we were visiting friends in Leith and it’s often hard to find good options there. Our room was very small and so when we had to do practical things like getting ready we noticed that some things weren’t as well thought out. Like how to use the clothes steamer in the right place and how to get ready with the hairdryer and mirror. The property was clean but when we went to use the glasses they were very dusty, the towel I used had a long black hair on it and there were pieces of tablet but at least one (one was eaten before we noticed) had already had a bite out of it! These are just the small housekeeping things that need to be double checked but can make a difference to the standard of stay. It was pricey for the size but it was lovely, brand new and it’s Edinburgh so I didn’t begrudge paying it.

• Mary (10/5): Stylish, unexpected and delightful. - The Townhouse was enchanting with its eclectic styling. Such tasteful, funky and interesting furnishings meshed together to create a comfortable, functional and highly liveable space. The bathroom was gorgeous especially the orange bath and animal print/fur wall lining. The room was spacious and the light and views from the large windows added to the overall ambiance. The king sized bed was comfortable but the only bed covering was a thick quilt/ doona which was way too heavy for a room which remained at 21 degrees day and night. I would also recommend a light in the kitchen cupboard as preparation of food and drinks was very difficult without illumination.

• Chieu Yen Shirley (7/5): - The place was asthetically pleasing and rooms were comfortable. There is no front desk nor staff on-site to assist during check in. The code given somehow didn't work so we had to wait outside as the response to the what's app number was slow. Luckily we managed to get in as a guest was on the way out and the housekeeper was around. Location was not convenient as well and not worth the price.

• Robert (7/5): Nice and comfortable but very small rooms to be comfortable for any length of stay. - The property was clean and well equipped and the bed was comfortable. There was no air conditioning. The room was very small and there was no room to open bags easily and you had to shuffle past the bed and cupboard to get to the other side.

• James (10/5): - Very comfortable, really well equipped and very quiet room. We were very impressed. It is in a great position by Leith Links and the tram is 5 minutes walk away.

• Nando (7/5): Very comfortable but no human touch! - New, very clean and well decorated. Comfortable and close to the tram. Very impersonal; not aware of a human link anywhere!
